Here is a selection of works from Goya’s famous ‘Black Paintings’ series, which consists of fourteen murals that were painted directly onto the walls of the Quinta del Sordo house in Madrid, where the artist lived between 1819 and 1823. They have since been removed, transferred to canvases, and become part of the Museo del Prado’s collection.

The series is pretty dark, to say the least. It is rife with themes of witchcraft, insanity, violence and death’s inevitability. My personal favourite is Saturn Devouring his Son, which is based on the story of Saturn’s Greek counterpart, Cronus, and how he ate his sons after hearing that they would eventually overthrow him. However, Saturn/Cronus was tricked by Rhea into swallowing a stone instead of one of his children. This son, of whom Rhea was the mother, was Zeus, and he would eventually have Cronus and the other titans imprisoned. Goya’s depiction is deliciously gory and terrifying. Saturn’s face is enough to give you nightmares!

with @elonmusk of #Spacex, #Tesla, @TeslaMotors and @SunCity. It is #fantastic the #Hyperloop development is going very well. The #Vision is becoming Reality. Again like Electric Cars and Batteries getting done what Everyone, the Media and Critics said for many Years couldn’t be done. It’s great to see ALL the negative naysayers proven their standard average bandwagon thinking was completely wrong. #Awesome #ElonMusk

MARVEL ISLAND ROLEPLAY

What happens when Marvels hero’s all wake up on a mysterious island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with no way off. How did they arrive at this place and why are they there and who put them there? That is a question that most of them now long to know the answers, however the answers are hard to find.

With no way off the island thanks to a force field and all powers of hero’s no longer active they will have to work together to find a way off the island but when they do what exactly is on the outside is earth still intact or have the forces that put them there thrown it in to total chaos and will the hero’s even get off the island or will war and anarchy break out first.

Heaven

what did you think of me, then? an awkward question,
to be sure, but the acrid grasp of that august night
grew dense and impenetrable - my remarks failed:
every syllable felt wrong and every word read malice.

hello: to what is left of the angels inside the pitch

the endless array of fantastic lights made my vision
blur, but i could see the hands left alone, palms-up
even! i thought about taking them in that moment,
but the months before left the spirit in a brittle state.

he would take silence as the dress-code and smirk
to my prying inquiries: “how is life, your writing?”
the lips drawn in a complicated pattern of anguish.

a shake of the head, a wave of the hand.

                               (the only answer.)

he began to speak:

“I saw one of those videos, that terrorist group,
can’t even remember their name. But they had
this prisoner in a cage, and when they set him
on fire, the screams they had (obviously) edited
in post-production made me laugh. Am I sick? I
                                 mean somebody fucking died.”

but life is defined by its ironies: the off-kilter words:
fueled by guilt in a languish sense of dispassion,
had their moment as he slipped his hand in mine.
an image of artificial terror lead to a connection.

and i suppose everything made sense:

      the lights of the wheel
      the smell of funnelcake
      the children’s screams
      the idea of his breath
      the distance between
      the roar of the crowd
      and the feeble words
      born in absolute solitude

god could be felt that night, flames and all.

Darcy was in the kitchen fixing lunch for herself after she had gotten Jane out of the lab and in to bed to sleep for a few hours, When she felt something hit the back of her head for the 3rd time in the last few minutes,

She let a growl out and looked at the vent with a glare “ If that you Clinton, you are a dead if hit me with another nerf bullet/arrow and it someone else your still a dead when I get my hands on you” she called out,
