The Day Her Life Began

-XX-

In the land of Gods and Monsters
I was an Angel
Living in the garden of evil
Screwed up, scared, doing anything that I needed
Shining like a fiery beacon

You got that medicine I need
Fame, Liquor, Love give it to me slowly
Put your hands on my waist, do it softly
Me and God, we don’t get along so now I sing

No one’s gonna take my soul away
I’m living like Jim Morrison
Headed towards a fucked up holiday
Motel sprees, sprees and I’m singing
‘Fuck yeah give it to me this is heaven, what I truly
Want’
It’s innocence lost
Innocence lost

Her entire life was planned out. From the moment she was born she was groomed to be seen, and never heard.

She knew her place.

She accepted it.

It never occurred to her that it could be different. That it should be different. And then her family moved to Charming, and while most people would look at the direction her life took and think it went downhill at an alarming rate, to her it was like being set free.

The day Olivia met Jax Teller is the day that her life truly began, and ultimately, what would bring about her end.

She feels like she’s floating on water and yet she feels, amazing. She couldn’t begin to say what all is running through her system, and just now, she doesn’t really care. All she cares about is the way the music hums in her blood.

“Hey darlin’,” a familiar voice fills her head and with a soft moan her eyes close as she drawn back against a hard chest, hands softly cupping her waist. “Miss me?” Turning slowly, she links her arms around Jax’s neck.

“Always,” she smiles, kissing him, and it doesn’t take long for the kiss to spiral into something more and when he takes her by the hand to lead her through the crowd a thrill she’s come to be addicted to runs through her, and when he pulls her into his dorm room, whispering in her ear all the secret, dirty things he wants to do with and to her, she wonders how she ever lived before him.

Olivia wipes at the steam on the bathroom mirror, getting a look at herself. She doesn’t recognize the girl staring back at her. Gone is the polished debutante her parents worked tirelessly to mold into a perfect cookie cutter daughter.

Dyeing her hair was the first step she took towards rebellion, and because she can still remember the way her Mom screamed a smile forms on Olivia’s lips. It all went downhill from there, at least that’s what her parents would say.

For her, life began. She’s lived more in the last year than she ever did before, which is why on the morning of her twentieth birthday she was all too happy to march into her parents’ house and inform them that not only was she dropping out of college, she was moving in with a porn star. Lyla.

The look on their faces was worth the relentless harassment she’s received since.

“Morning,” Jax says and lifting her face she finds him standing behind her, his hair tousled a little from sleep, mostly from sex.

“I was just going,” she says turning to look at him. “I know how Tara is when she drops the boys off.”

“She’s taking them to Gemma’s this morning,” he says as his eyes drift down her body, and she knows she’s in trouble when just a glance from him can make her wet.

“And let me guess, you were hoping for a morning quickie?” laughter squeaks out of her when he grabs the corner of the towel wrapped around her and in one fluid motion he pulls it off, leaving her to stand before him, exposed and naked.

Vulnerable.

And tipping his head to the side he brushes his thumb against his lip.

“Mmm, maybe,” he says licking his lips, “unless you’re not up for it.”

“Convince me,” she says and when he gathers up so that her legs wrap tight around his waist she knows he won’t have to do a lot of convincing.

When you talk it’s like a movie and you’re making me
Crazy -
‘Cause life imitates art
If I get a little prettier can I be your baby?
You tell me, “life isn’t that hard”

No one’s gonna take my soul away
I’m living like Jim Morrison
Headed towards a fucked up holiday
Motel sprees, sprees and I’m singing
'Fuck yeah give it to me this is heaven, what I truly
Want’

“You and Tara,” Olivia says as she dresses. She could tell by the way he fucked her that it was his way of saying good bye. They’ve been playing this game for a year now and it’s the same thing every time. He and Tara fight so he finds warmth in her bed or she in his, and when Tara’s done throwing her hissy fit they go back to playing house.

“I’m sorry darlin’,” Jax says, and for a moment she believes that he truly is.

“Olivia,” he catches her hand before she can leave and with a soft smile she presses a kiss to his forehead, and taking his face in her hands she searches his eyes.

“Jax,” she lets out a shaky breath, “if you care about me, even a little bit, don’t call for a while okay? I need time.”

“Olivia! Olivia!” Jax screams her name in disbelief as her eyes wheel madly around, her blood seeping hot between his fingers as he presses his hands to her chest. He insisted on walking her to her car and they were halfway across the parking lot when gun shots ripped through the air. “Hold on, just hold on.” He screams for someone to get help, he screams for someone, anyone.

The day Olivia met Jax Teller was the day her life truly began, and ultimately, it’s what brought about her end.

“I had never thought I could love another person this much. I also never thought I’d live in such fear of losing another person. Was this how everyone in love felt? Did they all cling tightly to their beloved and wake up terrified in the middle of the night, afraid of being alone? Was that an inevitable way of life when you loved so deeply? Or was it just those of us who walked on a precipice who lived in such panic?”

~ Adrain Ivashkov, The Fiery Heart
