I heard some intel that the new Picard show is going to feature a huge subplot where Picard has to team up with Ben Sisko, fresh from his time Propheting, to save the universe, and after they do, Sisko eventually manages to forgive Picard and agrees to start a food business that pairs recipes with Picard’s vineyards and ships it to the ends of the galaxy.

It’s called Star Trek: Deep Space Wine

I’m angry. I have been, for weeks now.

I didn’t want to make a post or say anything because I don’t think enough people will notice or care. But fuck that, because I’ve got something to say.

I’m a fanfic writer for Haikyuu, I’ve been one for over a year; going on two. I’ve written 50 fics for this fandom, and I’ve been posting one fic or chapter update every week since the beginning of this year.

I write because I love writing, because I have a lot of ideas, and because I love the characters. I post my work because I think other people might enjoy my work, too.

But I’m also sick of it.

I’m sick of spending all my free time on writing only to get ten notes max on my fics on tumblr. Which, you know - it might just be that people don’t like my work. But it’s not just me.
I’ve participated in events, and if you look at the pages for any fandom-related project that includes artists and writers, I can assure you that you’ll always find the same thing: art with over a thousand notes per pic, and fics with less than twenty.

Don’t get me wrong. I love the art that people are creating in the fandom, just as much as the next person. I buy every zine I can get my hands on. I commission artists when I can.

Recently, I commissioned a writer. I didn’t even know that was a thing until a couple months ago, and even then, I’ve seen writers offer 1k words or more for as little as 3$. Are you fucking kidding me. I paid 25$ for 4k and I wish I could have tipped more.

I guess what I’m saying is that I’m done with this.

I’ve been thinking every single day for the last three weeks that I want to just say I’m not going to be writing anymore. Because I’ve got no more energy for this. I’ve got enough other shit going on, and constantly being angry about how writers are treated is not helping, and it’s not something I can turn off. Every day I’ve been thinking “you should just go. For your sake. Stop this shit.”

I can’t do that. When I finally reached that point, and made the decision today that I’d stop, I’m done, I’m out - I immediately felt AWFUL. I love writing, and I love the friends I’ve made through it. I get really sweet and supportive comments sometimes. I feel like my work has maybe impacted a handful of people.

But I hate this. I hate the way the fandom treats us. I hate getting 1k hits and 2 comments. I hate getting 20 notes, only one of which is a reblog. Who’s going to see my work? No one. I hate it, and I don’t know what to do about it.

I guess that’s all. Expect a new fic from me next week, as always. Because as much as I hate it, I can’t leave. But I’m done pretending I’m not angry. Because I am.

a concept: andrew getting really used to physical contact from neil

  • he accepted neil lacing their fingers together pretty quickly
  • or neil’s fingers in his hair
  • and neil kissing him
  • it took him a little longer to say ‘yes’ to neil’s hands elsewhere, like his shoulders or his chest, but he got there eventually
  • but can you imagine
  • when one morning in columbia
  • weeks and months and maybe even years later
  • neil wakes up, on his back, sleep still heavy on his limbs and his mind
  • but after like a minute
  • he realises that’s not just sleep that’s heavy on his limbs
  • there’s hair in his face but he’s just got a haircut so??
  • that’s not his??
  • so neil opens his eyes
  • and is immediately met with a schock of blond hair
  • and slowly his mind starts to comprehend that right there
  • right. there.
  • a certain goal keeper has his head on neil’s shoulder/chest
  • and an arm thrown over neil’s middle
  • and neil’s face is still buried in andrew’s hair
  • he can smell the faintest trace of his own shampoo that andrew always denies he uses
  • and at some point when he was still sleeping he had curled his arm around andrew’s shoulder and neck and buried his fingers in his hair as well
  • and neil doesn’t dare to move even just an inch
  • but he can’t help the stupid grin that forms on his lips
  • and the warm, fluttery feeling that bubbles up in his chest and his throat
  • and he closes his eyes and takes a deep breath and just relishes the weight of andrew’s head and arm on his body and the way his heavy breath ghosts along neil’s collarbone
  • and he thinks maybe
  • just maybe
  • one day they really are going to be okay

“Fantasy is escapist, and that is its glory….

…If a soldier is imprisioned by the enemy, don’t we consider it his duty to escape?….

If we value the freedom of mind and soul, if we’re partisans of liberty, then…

..it’s our plain duty to escape…

And to take as many people with us as we can!”

Request: I love your writing so glad you opened requests! :)  Could I ask for a Finnick X reader with “You’re the only one I trust to do this.” please? xx

Title: Love can be found in the strangest of time

Pairing: Finnick x Reader

Fandom: Hunger Games

Witer: Jupiter

The Games were cruel.

If there was one thing you had learned from you time in the Arena, it would be to not trust anyone around you, because before you would know it you would end up with a knife in your back as the other person would claim their victory. You had seen it multiple times on the TV, when you were still in your District with your family, and you had even see  it happen  in person. Because you, (Y/n) (L/n) from District 4, were the winner of the 69th Hunger Games, survivor of the Deathly Dessert. You had seen more death and destruction than anyone else from your District, and it were those memories from fallen candidates that had made you strong. The innocent person you had once been was gone now, the memories of a better time fading away with every life you had taken. That was what the Games did to you, they turned you into a killer.

‘But even killers and survivors have weaknesses,’ You realised as you groaned from the pain, your eyes sliding towards the knife that was sticking out of your middle. The spot around it was now covered in thick, red blood as you tried to stop the flow by pressing your hand against it. It wasn’t the first time you had suffered from an injury while being in the Arena, but that didn’t make the pain any less. You silently cursed yourself as you thought about how you had lowered your guard for a minute, just in time for another Tribute to stick a knife in your side and giving you an unpleasant surprise while doing so. It had been a stupid mistake, a mistake a Victor like you shouldn’t have made. But these weren’t the usual Games anyways. These were the 75th Hunger Games, which meant that you were now surrounded by Victors from previous years instead of greenies who had never even hold a knife before. And that exact the reason why you should have been more careful.

'You could have died back there,’ You thought as you pressed your hand a bit tighter against your wound, flinching while doing so. 'You would have died, if it hadn’t been for Finnick to show up just in time.’

It seemed the odds had been in your favour for once. The moment the tribute had stuck his knife in your side, his other hand grabbing your waist to prevent you from running away, your friend and ally Finnick Odair had come back just in time from his search for food and had thrown his trident straight into the back of the man. If he had only hesitated for a second, you would have been dead. But this was Finnick you were talking about, a man just as dangerous as you and every other trained candidate in here. But talking about Finnick…Why was he taking so long?

’'Finnick!” You called out, making sure your voice wasn’t loud enough for unwanted guests to hear. As you tried to sit up a bit straighter against the tree Finnick had placed you against before he had left to grab some bandages from your temporary resting place, you tried to focus your eyes on your surroundings to see if you saw a glimpse of your friend in the green vegetation around you. With a sight, you realised he was nowhere to be seen yet, and you really hoped for him to hurry up. Because with every second passing, you felt your body become weaker and weaker from the blood loss, and you decided to call out for him once more, your voice filled with irritation this time.

“Alright, alright! Calm down, princess, I’m on my way.”

You sighted in relief as you heard his familiar voice coming from behind the trees. Not much later, Finnick Odair stepped out of the green background, with a white bandage in his hands. He flashed you an apologising smile as he walked closer to you, even though his eyes were filled with worry at the sight of your with blood covered sight. In an attempt to lighten up the situation a bit, you threw him an annoyed glance.

“Leave it to Finnick Odair to take his time when his friend is laying here with a knife sticking out of her side. Thanks a lot, by the way.”

Finnick shook his head at your sarcastic comment, wondering how you managed to keep your wit even in a situation like this, while he kneeled down next to you.

“Sure, don’t thank the guy who put his ass in danger while trying to get bandages in order to save your life. Way to win a guys heart, drama queen.”

You tried to stick out your tongue as a response, but the movement your body made while doing so only caused a new flash of pain to rip through your side, causing you to whimper once again. You saw how Finnick’s eyes filled with worry while you did you, and you tried to flash him a small smile to tell him you were alright. Sadly enough, you smile only turned into a grimace as you flinched when you felt another sting coming from your wound.

“Just take the knife out of me already,” You told him eventually, while biting your teeth. The longer the thing would stick into you, the harder it would to heal eventually. From his place next to you, Finnick nodded as he reached his hands closer to the knife, trying to find the best way to pull it out without any unnecessary harm.

“Are you sure about this?” He asked you in a soft voice, his eyes filled with concentration as he placed the bandage next to him. “This will hurt more than anything else, are you sure you can handle it?”

You huffed in offense as you let your eyes glide over his posture. “Oh please, you do realise against who you’re talking to, right?”

Finnick let out a tense chuckle as he pulled back his hands, his eyes locking with your (e/c) ones again. The teasing glare had disappeared, leaving only a serious glare behind in his beautiful orbs. His glare made you aware of the seriousness of the situation, and you gulped nervously before opening your mouth again, your voice sounding more tense than before:

“Just do it.”

Finnick took a deep breath at your words, his long hands reaching for the knife once again. His next words however, caused a new feeling to flash through your heart.

“I don’t want to hurt you, (Y/n),” Finnick spoke in a soft but tender voice. His eyes looked down at the knife sticking out of your side, and you saw a glimpse of uncertainty in them.

“Finnick,” You said, your voice hoarse but soft. “If you don’t do this, I’ll die. It already hurts like a bitch anyways, so much damage you won’t do. Please…You’re the only one I trust to do this.”

Finnick’s eyes snapped up at your words as he noticed the seriousness of your voice. With a sight, he nodded in defeat.

“Alright than,” He whispered, giving you an apologizing look. “Be very still, princess. Here it goes…”

Slowly, his hands took hold of the knife, pulling it slowly but steady out of your middle. The sudden feeling of the sharp blade slashing through your flesh once again caused a whole new level of pain to rip through your body and you let out a raw scream of agony, as you tried your best not to move. Your scream caused Finnick to flinch a bit, but his trained hands didn’t tremble as he slowly pulled the knife out of your body, before quickly throwing it away and reaching for the bandage.

Silent tears ran over your cheeks as you bit your tongue in order not to scream again. The knife was out of you, but now the blood could flow freely. Luckily, Finnick was quick and in a swift motion he wrapped in bandage around your middle, stopping the blood from flowing out of your wound. In around a minute, your waist had been wrapped in a white bandage, even though it felt like hours to you. When Finnick was finally done, you let out a sigh of relief as you let your head rest against the three, while closing your eyes. It was over, thank god.

It was Finnick’s soft voice that caused you to open your eyes again.

“(Y/n)?” He mumbled, as he softly placed his hand on your cheek and leaned in a bit, causing a blush to rise to you face. “I’m sorry for hurting you, but you’re going to be alright now.”

You were finally able to give him a small smile back, looking into his beautiful eyes. Suddenly, you were aware of how close the two of you were right now, as you were even able to feel his warm breath on your face. Your eyes flicked to his soft, plumb lips for a moment as you felt butterflies in your stomach, something that felt a lot better than a knife.

“Thank you,” You whispered gratefully, not able to speak out loud. You saw how Finnick smiled at your words, a beautiful smile you had grown to love, before he suddenly leaned in and kissed you. His lips felt as soft as you had imagined them to be, and you couldn’t help but kiss him back immediately. His lips tasted a bit salty and even a bit bloody because of the things the two of you had crossed paths with, and you were sure your face wasn’t any better, but despite that it was a perfect kiss.

When the two of you finally pulled apart, you were both panting from the lack of breath, but your eyes were shining for the first time since you had entered the Games. As you gave Finnick a small smile, you didn’t care about the fact that there were probably multiple camera’s watching you. Maybe the two of you were even projected on a huge screen in the Capitol, who would know?

It was the shot of a canon that ripped you out of your fairytale like situation and brought you back to the reality of the situation. Finnick took a hold of your hand and helped you to get up, which you did with a grim face because of the pain. Finnick gave you a look of concern as he squeezed your hand, scanning your surroundings while doing so. You gave him a nod, indicating you were alright, and he answered with a smile. In a swift motion, he grabbed his trident from the ground as he started to lead you forwards.

The situation surely wasn’t perfect, and the Games didn’t become any less cruel, but at least you had now found an anchor to which you could hold on when things got rough. And yes, you were aware that you might lose him, but right now he was with you and that was all that mattered. So with a small smile on your face, you forgot your pain as you followed Finnick back into the woods, away from the place you had been sitting minutes ago.

“Alright, let’s go.”

So what happened with fandoms?

Like I thought that fandom was a space to share your ideas and opionons about a show, a game or a movie. A place to feel included, to be among you kin without being harshly judged.

And now?

Where did they come all of these people that want to decide what is an acceptable ship? What is ok to be written or drawn?

Where did this notion that if you’re not consuming something politically, you are not consuming it right?

Where did all the people that constantly invade creators, VA and actors personal space, with insults, demeaning commentary, baseless accusations, come from?

There has to be a turning point, I know this didn’t happen overnight, that it has been gradual, but there must be a before and after. Something must have happened that caused this cultural shift. Because if we know this there might be a way to revert or lessen this change, or are we doomed to wait until the unhealthy structure that is being created collapses under its own weight?

And I’m not trying to say that the “before” fandoms where great, and innocent and whatever, because there always have been lunatics, and flame wars and stuff. But what is happening now is trying to instaurate censorship, harassment and puritanism as a valid paradigm.

And I don’t like that at all.

9 Things Draining Your Power You Can Drop Today

1. TV - what are you filling your subconscious with? Our subconscious minds create thoughts based on what we feed it. If you want to create thoughts that will help you on your journey - fill your subconscious with imagery & sounds associated with what you’re trying to achieve. For example if you’re trying to become physically & mentally healthier consume motivational content - videos, podcasts & blogs.

2. Toxic people - be aware of psychic vampires. Unfortunately there are some people in the world who don’t like to see others winning or improving themselves in any way - they feed off the energy you waste in conflict with them. Identify these people and distance yourself from them if you don’t want to become like them - unfulfilled and intent on destroying others.

3. Junk food - junk in, junk out. Look at your body for the technological masterpiece it is. You’ve been blessed with a Ferrari - are you going to give it the best fuel possible to get the best performance out of it? Or are you going to give it the cheapest fuel to just get by? This is the choice you have to make when it comes to feeding your body - healthy foods = healthy mental & physical performance.

4. Unsupportive relationships - surround yourself with positive people. If you’re around people who don’t believe in you - find those who do. Spend more time with those who are on a similar path to you and support each other. If your parents, spouse, friends or siblings don’t support you - it doesn’t mean you have to cut them out of your life, just spend less time around them and more time with the people who will encourage you to be great.

5. Drugs - clear mind, clear vision. The mind can become clouded by drugs like alcohol, sugar, caffeine & nicotine - if you want to reclaim your power and use it to create your dream life these substances need to be removed or used infrequently. We naturally have the power to create anything we want - these substances can make us believe that we must depend on them to perform better, this is an illusion that we must transcend.

6. Limiting beliefs - turn “I can’t” into “why can’t I?” When it comes to reclaiming your power realise that limiting beliefs such as “I’m not good enough” and “I can’t” are keeping it from you. Turn these phrases into possibilities rather than restrictions - “what can I do to become good enough?” and “why can’t I?” are great examples of ways to restore your power.

7. Comparison to others - we’re all on different journeys. Everyone is unique and therefore we cannot be compared to one another. When you say “I should be more like _” you are giving up your power that lies in your uniqueness in favour of what others think is desirable or “good”. Your greatest power lies in what makes you unique and when you recognise that you cannot be compared to anyone else you can start living a way that serves and fulfils you without regard for what others say, think or do.

8. Self-doubt - when you believe in yourself anything is possible. Everything great that has ever been accomplished has been done so by people just like you - their accomplishments began with the belief that they could be done. Doubt kills more dreams that failure ever will - don’t let it kill yours.

9. Fear - false evidence appearing real. Acknowledge your fears for what they are - projections of your mind designed to keep you in a comfort zone where failure doesn’t exist. Fears can be difficult to overcome - this is where forging a strong mindset can help. This can be done by filling the subconscious mind with positive reinforcement - for example leaving a motivational playlist on while you sleep.

Don’t be a victim of circumstance, use your power to create your reality.

Peace & positive vibes.

50 Famously Inspiring Quotes About The Beach & The Sea

There is something to be said about one’s experiences of the beach. For sand and surf, sun tanning and seashell collecting, the place where ocean meets land is a release for all things work entailing; a balance for all things in our day that take up our time and occupy our lives.

A “beach life” is what inspires the mission statement of my brand! There are days for me as well, however, where the nearest I am to a slice of paradise goes no further than being immersed in the work of presenting my product line with the pieces I share.

For those days when the ends of the earth, the smell of salt air and the sound of ocean waves are far from within reach, a collection of 50 famously inspiring quotes about the beach & the sea to help bring me back to its retreat.

Life is better at the beach! It really is, I truly think.

I identify cafe with books and thus this oneshot was made! I hope you’ll like it anon<3

Kwon Hyuk hated Monday with a passion, because his uncontrollable insomnia would always act up when he wanted to sleep, and the coffee shop he worked at would be the center of attention for businessman and woman since it was located at the heart of Seoul, giving a hard time for every barista and worker. Right now Hyuk was hanging onto the subway’s handle, blinking every few minutes when he felt himself doze off, because he can’t miss the stop and be late. Hell, Hyuk couldn’t afford to be absent, since he had bills to pay and food to buy. As much as he liked to curl up under his blanket, shielded from the work, he needed work to survive.

It took an hour to step up the café before one of the workers flipped the sign to ‘open’, and people started to flood in, looking as sleep deprived as Hyuk himself as they ordered the strongest coffee the shop got. Some took away simple breakfasts like croissants and cakes, because those people would have suffered if they didn’t eat before consuming the coffee. Hyuk barely moved from the Espresso grinding machine until he realized it was three in the evening, the odd time between lunch and dinner that left the café quite peaceful, a total change from the hectic situation earlier.

He helped his friend to clean the dishes, offering to dry them, when Hyuk heard the door push open. The dark haired barista turned around, catching a glimpse of a girl walking to the cashier. Seeing as his coworker was missing in action, Hyuk quickly set the cups down and dashed to the cashier, making it just in time to muster his biggest smile and take the orders.

“Hello and welcome to the Half Moon Café, how may I take your orders?” Hyuk started, his eyes meeting the most beautiful eyes that pulled him out of the reality for a moment. When he finally snapped back, Hyuk was blinking, trying to push away the look of shock, because oh you were beautiful. The way your hair falls effortlessly, how your eyes seemed to hold joy, and your luscious lips when they twitched into a smile was all it took to make his knees weak. And when he heard your angelic voice, Hyuk knew he was smitten.

“Do you perhaps have anything that’s strong enough to wake me up, but not too strong that it would hurt my stomach? I’m not much of a coffee drinker, and something mild and not too sharp would do.” You described, as your eyes were still on the menu board on the wall, sometimes squinting to read the small words. Hyuk himself had to look up to the menu, humming while he thought of your description.

“Maybe a Flat White would do? It’s made of 15-30% of coffee and 70-85% of milk, that’s the least strongest drink in here,” Hyuk offered, noting how your eyes met his gaze again and looking delighted, “Or maybe you could eat something first before drinking. We have cakes as well if you think croissants are going to make you too full.” And then your attention switched to the range of cakes on the display, and Hyuk noticed how you would lick your lips in thought of eating the pretty looking deserts.

“You know what, I’ll take that Flat White and a Green Tea cake,” You ordered firmly, and Hyuk diligently jotted down your words, “How much would that be?”

“8 dollars, please.”

“Here you go.” Giving Hyuk the exact amount of money, you then walked to the table next to the window, making yourself comfortable as your examined the world outside the café. And then you turned your head, taking in the details of the large coffee shop that was empty. Of course it was empty, everyone was still at work and they won’t be hungry for three more hours, so there’s no reason for people to go here. You went here just because you thought it’s odd to be squeezed between tall buildings. And it served as a cozy café, as if the harsh rigid world outside didn’t exist.

And Hyuk watched from the corner of his eyes, how you would watch your surrounding and indulge in the comfort of the café, and then pull out a book out of your bag. He tried to peek from afar to see the title of the book, because the cover looks familiar to his mind. While he did so, he had almost ruined the small heart he made on the foam, and he sighed in relieve when he didn’t ruin the shape. The coffee was done a minute later, and he decided to deliver your orders himself, having a double reason as to catch a glimpse of your book as well. Hyuk was secretly a big literature fan, especially poems, and he was sure he’s seen the cover of your book before.

“One Flat White steaming hot and made with love.” Hyuk’s voice broke your concentration as you looked up, closing the book and giving a full view of the book’s title to him. And he tried to suppress the yelp of excitement as he gently put your coffee down, because you were reading a book of poems, and from one of his favorite artists: Walt Whitman.

“Oh, thank you so much.” And the bright grin on your face seemed to add fuel to the sudden surge of happiness inside of him, as Hyuk could only flash a smile and walk back to the counter. And as much as he’s glad that he’s a few feet away from you because his heart was beating too rapidly, he was bummed out at himself for not striking a conversation at the perfect chance. There weren’t any customers so it won’t look as impolite, his friends weren’t there to tease the hell out of him, and she was alone! But he decided that maybe it was the best, because he really didn’t want to bother your reading.

Nonetheless, he was hyped knowing you read such a great poet. How Hyuk wanted to go up to you and talk about  Walt Whitman, maybe impress you with his wide knowledge of poems, but he didn’t have the guts to do so, and that was enough to hold him behind the counter as he cleaned up the already stainless counter.

While you were reading, you found yourself wondering to the cute barista every time you come over a love poem. Something about the way he holds himself really attracted you in an unexplainable way, as if he had cool appeal to him. And he looked pretty daring, with one of his eyebrows cut in the middle and the messy haircut he has. The most interesting thing about him was when he noticed the cover of your book, as if he was jolting in joy just by seeing it. There were a lot of people that read Whitman’s work, and maybe he was one of his fans. But you found it cute and intelligent if a boy’s into literature, especially poetry. Having a way with words guarantees an easy heart to a woman’s heart, and that was something you can’t deny. And you found yourself smiling into the love poet you’ve come across, occasionally taking glances towards him. He seemed like he was making himself look busy, and you wanted to chat with this peculiar barista, but you didn’t want to interrupt his work.

It was about one and a half hour later, when your coffee and cake is long gone, that you decided to go back home to do your assignments from college. Clutching your book to your chest, you used the other hand to hold the plate and glass, walking to the counter. And Hyuk was still there, his face looking taken aback as you placed the dishes as lightly as you go.

“The coffee was great, and it was perfect for my stomach! So was the cake, it was splendid.” You complimented, your hands growing sweaty as you hold your book tighter, hoping that he would contribute into the conversation so that it wouldn’t end. As much as you have to go home and do your responsibility, you really didn’t want to leave. This young man in front of you, probably a few years older, was a very intriguing human being, and you found yourself wanting to know more about him. Your heart felt something more than infatuation for this man, although you’ve just met him an hour ago, but you felt like you both were destined to meet.

“Oh, I’m really glad it didn’t affect your stomach,” Hyuk sighed, feeling pride swell in his heart as his recommendations was spot on, “I thought I might’ve hurt you there for a second.” He was trying to smile, but he felt so jumpy because of his heart picking up the pace at full speed. Suddenly he felt his senses sharpen as he took in your floral scent, his eyes catching every detail of your pretty face, and the abrupt feeling of not wanting this to end grew bigger. No, he didn’t want this awkward  and embarrassing conversation to end, all he wanted was to get to know you more but he found himself tongue tied.

“Well then, I’ll go now. Thank you so much, this café is—“

“Wait!” Hyuk yelped, a bit too loud for his liking, but it stopped you to take a step further away from him, “Y-You have a great taste in poetry! I like Walt Whitman as well.” He was stuttering, and he knew damn well he’s made a fool of himself, but then you smiled widely for him, and that was all it took to calm his nerves down.

“Really? I like him as well!” You expressed, holding the book for Hyuk to see, “I’m a huge fan of literature, especially poetry, and Whitman’s work always pull me back from the world, and it’s a nice comfort from everything’s that going on.” And you rambled on, grinning from ear to ear as Hyuk’s smile didn’t left his lips, and somehow all you wanted was to spit a bunch of words out if that makes Hyuk smile a lot.

“Same as I do! Out of all the literature products in this world, I think poetry is the best,” Hyuk chuckled, and then he stops when he got a brave idea pop inside his mind, “Say, can I read you one of you my favorite poems? It’s not Whitman’s work, but I thought I should share it with you.” He was afraid you would reject, that you didn’t have time, but his offer made you step closer to the counter and rest your elbows on the wooden table, using your hands to support your face.

“Go on, I’m all ears.” You whispered, and Hyuk found himself leaning closer as well, mirroring your action. He took a deep breath, closed his eyes and opened them again to meet the most alluring eyes that hold a lot of stars that got him so lost inside. But he was quick to snap back, and the power your orbs gave him seemed to fill the words slipping past his lips with so much love.

She walks in beauty, like the night

Of cloudless climes and starry skies;

And all that’s best of dark and bright

Meet in her aspect and her eyes;

Thus mellowed to that tender light

Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

“That was elegant and grand,” You gasped, clearly taken away by the words strung together into a perfect exquisite poetry, “Who’s work was that?” Without you realizing, you had grasped Hyuk’s hand, and he felt his heart rose to the clouds at the contact.

“It was from a poet called Lord Byron, and it’s called ‘She Walks in Beauty’. It sounds nice to the ears, doesn’t it?” Hyuk got an excited nod from you, as you were beaming in glee towards him. He then straightened his posture, suddenly getting another new idea, and dashed towards the kitchen. You were left confused at the sudden outburst, but you stayed in your place, believing he would come back for a good reason.

And Hyuk opened his locker and took out his bag, fishing out an old book that was yellowing because of its age. Grabbing a pencil, he scribbled a few things on the front cover and ran back to the counter, where you were still waiting for him. He then presented to you his most prized possession, and your eyes turned wide when you saw the author of the book: Lord Byron himself.

“I think you’ll like his works, so I’ll let you borrow it,” Hyuk shrugged, shoving the book closer to you, “You’ll know where to find me if you finished this book, and maybe if you want to chit chat about Lord Byron.” He smiled, and it was a genuine one where he hoped you would take it as a way for you to see him again soon.

“Are you sure? I mean, I’ll return it of course, but you’re done reading this?” You asked, reluctantly taking the book from Hyuk’s calloused hand and smoothly feeling the old pages with your fingers. He hummed as an answer, and you looked at him with the same expression he held. And at that moment, both hearts were filled with love and warmth, and you couldn’t help but lean in to give a quick peck to his cheeks.

“Thank you so much! I’ll read it well,” And you took a step back, and then another, thinking that you should call it a day for your heart, since all that it’s done is beat rapidly, “I’ll see you tomorrow, I guess?”  You hoped to meet him again, and you gripped Lord Byron’s book tighter, hoping he would give you the respond you wanted.

“Yeap! See you tomorrow, and be careful on your way home!” And as you both waved good bye, you quickly sped away from the café, and when you arrived at the park before the subway, you found yourself jumping in pure joy and screaming your heart out. Fate was being kind for you today, you scored the perfect guy you’ve always wanted, and he seemed to be feeling the same for you! Oh boy you were happy, having fallen head over heels for the charming barista.

And Hyuk was doing the same celebration as you did, raising his fist into the air and yelling his happiness up into the air. It was when his coworkers were back that he stopped his little celebration, but the smile on Hyuk’s face didn’t disappear, and he found himself sleeping peaceful tonight without any stress pounding his mind. It was unbelievable to find the perfect girl that fits his favorite poetry so much.

And you were ecstatic from the message scribbled on the front page. It was an open invitation you would definitely take up to.

Here are some poetry book recommendations for me, and I think you’ll like this since we have the same taste. Here’s my phone number: +82 XXX XXX, maybe you could text me tonight or we’d go book hunting tomorrow after my shift’s ended?:) –Kwon Hyuk
