Van Persie Leads ManU to Community Shield Win

Robin van Persie scored twice to help new Manchester United top Wigan Athletic 2-0 to win the FA Community Shield.

The Dutch International, who led ManU in scoring during the 2012/13 season, got on the scoresheet six minutes into the contest at Wembley Stadium as he headed home a feed from teammate Patrice Evra.

Van Persie would later put United up 2-0 when he found the back of the Wigan net at the 60 minute mark.

While some may downplay the victory over Wigan, the 2013 FA Cup winners who were relegated from the Premier League to the Championship, the win give new United boss David Moyes his first piece of silverware since taking over at Old Trafford from Sir Alex Ferguson
