Peter Capaldi On Ending Up At Comic-Con Hall H; Talks Maisie Williams In ‘Doctor Who’

“Doctor Who” star Peter Capaldi made his official debut at Comic-Con on Thursday, but the night before, he ended up crashing the line at Hall H.

“I’ve never been here before. It’s a whole new experience,” Peter told Access Hollywood on the BBC America “Doctor Who” press line on Thursday afternoon. “I took a little walk last night…”

After being holed up doing press in his hotel room for a couple of days in advance of the annual San Diego event, Peter stepped outside to get a look at the festivities.

“I thought, 'Well, I want to be part of the carnival atmosphere and I certainly want to see people dressed up, so I went out for a meal and suddenly saw people appearing as Spider-Man or as Luke Skywalker, or Imperial Stormtroopers, or guys from 'Game of Thrones,’ and I thought, 'This is fun,’” he continued. “But of course the more I wandered, I find myself wandering closer and closer to the convention center, and then, find myself with all of the folks queuing up for tickets, who were lovely. They were absolutely really, really sweet.”

Peter joined Jenna Coleman and Michelle Gomez in Hall H on Thursday, where the cast and show boss Steven Moffat offered Whovians a sneak peek at series 9. The upcoming season will feature a familiar face for genre fans – guest star Maisie Williams (from “Game of Thrones”).
