Read an excerpt from The Librarians and The Lost Lamp, by Greg Cox.

For millennia, the Librarians have secretly protected the world by keeping watch over dangerous magical relics. Cataloging and safeguarding everything from Excalibur to Pandora’s Box, they stand between humanity and those who would use the relics for evil.

Ten years ago, only Flynn Carsen, the last of the Librarians, stood against an ancient criminal organization known as The Forty. They stole the oldest known copy of The Arabian Nights by Scheherazade, and Flynn fears they intend to steal Aladdin’s fabled lamp. He races to find it first before they can unleash the trapped, malevolent djinn upon the world.

Today, Flynn is no longer alone. A new team of inexperienced Librarians, led by Eve Baird, their tough-as-nails Guardian, investigates an uncanny mystery in Las Vegas. A mystery tied closely to Flynn’s original quest to find the lost lamp… and the fate of the world hangs in the balance.

hello :) i am also vegan and want to get into fitness. what should i be eating to lose fat/gain muscle??? i feel like i eat very healthy already but maybe just too big of portion sizes? also what workouts should i being doing?

Healthy whole plant based foods! I’ll give you a run down on what I usually eat that has helped me lose fat and gain lean muscle over the last few months:

pre-workout: 1 slice of ezekiel bread with peanut/almond butter (i don’t like working out in the mornings with a heavy stomach so i just eat something small)

post-workout: protein shake

lunch: big salad with all the veggies, hemp hearts, and tofu or chickpeas

snack: fruit, nuts, veggies + hummus (whatever i feel like that day)

dinner: stir-fry with loads of veggies and either tofu/tempeh/beans/ or lentils

*good breakfast idea thats high in protein (sometimes i have after the gym instead of protein shake, or later in the day whatever) - tofu scramble with lots of veggies, spices, and salsa - add some avo if you’d like!

I have found that lowering my carb intake slightly and focusing on beans (which are loaded in carbs + protein) rather than beans and rice (double the carbs) has helped me a lot! Of course listen to your body though, if you are craving rice then have some! I usually have quinoa and sweet potato on most days too - in no way am i saying cut carbs they are so good and so good for your body! Just slightly lower the intake to give your body the chance to digest and mobilize fat to use as energy.

I don’t know what fitness level you are at but I go to the gym around 5 days a week and do about 30 min. of cardio, switching it up between HIIT and LISS. Then I train my upper body one day, lower body the next, and core the next. I usually take a rest day in between that 3 day cycle. Listen to your body! If you are sore then rest bc your body needs it :) If you are not that into the gym, then even going for walks, doing fitness classes, jogging, cycling, swimming, is all GREAT just get that body moving :)
