ok so lately I’ve been seeing a lot of hate towards jaehyun mainly talking about how he’s useless and that it doesn’t even make sense for him to be in this unit when there’s jeffrey and ik everyone’s entitled to their own opinion but it’s becoming too much, i think u guys forget that just bc they’re in Korea it doesn’t mean they cant access things we post over here// jae speaks English and im sure if he saw all these comments about u guys hating on him telling him to go back to NCT U and stop stealing jeffrey’s lines bc nobody wants to hear his busted ass vocals (an actual comment i saw during today’s v app not a reflection of my own personal opinion), he’d be like T T and that’s honestly heartbreaking to me// also, yea jeffrey’s okay at singing and stuff but he’s honestly so problematic. like u guys act like just bc he’s hot he can get away w trying to convince LSM to let NCT 127 perform baby don’t like it at trump’s inauguration ++ he’s the reason y we thought we were gonna get full promotions for the short lived much appreciated “black on black™” but instead got the appropriative (nonetheless hard bopping) limitless// it was even his request that they fuck jaehyun up w “the itsy bitsy spider cut”// instead of hating on jae and making negative rant videos abt how his lego lookin headass is stealing the spotlight from other members (a 100% authentic comment i saw underneath their 2018 MAMA performance video) that he could potentially come across in his suggestions box when he’s just trying to watch some cute lee taeyong moments,,,instead of ALL THAT, can we spam their comments w eggplant emojis to let yoonoh know we love him? can we love all the members equally despite how much they may or may not resemble George Clooney (y would i lie abt this being a real quote) bc im done w him being like T T every time they do a broadcast :(

President Trump’s sudden firing of FBI Director James Comey is a matter that should deeply concern every American, regardless of party, partisan politics or ideological leanings.

The independence of our law enforcement is at the bedrock of our democracy. That independance, already grievously shaken under the brief tenure of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, is now shattered by uncertainty.

The firing of an FBI Director is always a very serious matter in normal times. But these times aren’t normal. Far from it. The Bureau is engaged in one of the most important and perilous investigations of this or any other presidency—the investigation of connections between the Trump election campaign and the Russian government.

The questions mount and the shadow grows darker. What were those connections? What did Mr. Trump know about them and when did he know it? How can the President explain the serious allegations against his former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn? And what is President Trump hiding in this regard? It’s imperative that the nation—We The People—get answers to those questions. It will take time, but the process must start now.

A politicized FBI is the last thing we need as we struggle through the maze of lies, concealment and ever-deepening mysteries. The last time a President fired prosecutors who were investigating him was Richard Nixon during the widespread criminal conspiracy known for short as “Watergate.” We all know how that turned out. In real ways, this potential scandal and coverup are much graver. We are talking about the very security of the United States and the sanctity of our republic.

Thomas Paine famously wrote in 1776: “These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. ”

I see this as having the potential for a similar reflection point in our American story. If there is a cover up, if our nation is at the risk that has certainly been more than suggested, it is incumbent upon everyone who claims to love this nation to demand answers.

We need a special prosecutor. We need an independent investigation. There is, obviously, much we don’t know about what has just happened, why it happened and why now. Just as obviously there is much more, so much more that we need know. We need to damn the lies and expose the truth.

For me the ideal Ezria wedding would have the recitation of vows intercut with flashbacks which contradict Ezra’s every word and promise, exposing his most heinous lies and deceptions, basically leaving no doubt that he’s been the puppet master from the very beginning and that he’s pure evil, to the point where you’re literally clawing at the screen because it’s so suspenseful and frustrating and terrible seeing his evil smirk and knowing that sweet little Aria is about to marry this monster who’s about to pull her into a nightmare a million times darker than what happened with Alison and Rollins.

If Marlene does that, I won’t mind spending 45 minutes on the wedding.

The week before Pascon was one of the more rougher ones you experienced with Rob. His anxiety had flared up, the exhaustion from the convention and the weight of your secret relationship only putting more pressure on him, making it harder to breathe. You stayed by his side, making sure he took his medication, making sure he drank and ate enough. Basically, you just made sure he kept functioning. You didn’t want him to be eaten alive by his anxiety.

“At least this convention is close to home,” you told him, the two of you relaxing in his bed, a scary movie droning on in the background. Scary movies turned out to be your thing, allowing the two of you to focus on someone else’s nightmares instead of your own.

One year

It’s been a full year today. I remember going home crying thinking the hero of my life was not who I thought he was. That my hero is an abuser. The very thing I would run away from. I could not believe what I was reading or hearing. What a roller coaster we went through. In that time you guys on tumblr helped me up. You shared news. You helped me make sense of it. You know, Clarke is like a gamer who after being beaten by a boss, instead of reloading the last save and going at it again with a different strategy, just uses a cheat code to move on faster. I know she’s under tons of pressure but she lacks patience when she deals with the people she has to lead, and she doesn’t trust them. Which is a shame because otherwise she’s a kickass leader, smart, cunning, compassionate when she needs to be, harsh when she needs to be too, charismatic, etc. 

Look at the two times she messed up as a leader this season. She was doing a good job in Arkadia, and Monty was actually all team Clarke and even tried to have her back at first and cover for her when Jasper found the list, but it’s when she got Jasper arrested to maintain her secrets that he decided to expose her lies and her failures as a leader. All that because she didn’t trust that the arkadians could deal with the truth.

Roan played a similar role when she got the opportunity to lead the grounders because let’s face it, Roan is team Clarke, he’s been team Clarke a LOT these past few episodes, he acknowledged that Clarke genuinely wanted to save both her people and the grounders, he told her she was born for this just like Lexa once did, and even in the last episode he told her that if anyone could convince the clans to make peace that would be her. He clearly trusts her leadership abilities and I don’t think ultimately he would mind following her (he kinda already did btw). 

What he didn’t like was the way she went at it, using his own culture and religion in a very dismissive way and just manipulating people into making her Commander. That’s when he said no thank you. Again, because Clarke didn’t trust that the grounders could eventually find a compromise and lost patience, and bam, cheat code, bring in the magic chip. 

And it’s not like I want her to be different because I don’t. I actually like her ruthlessness, her use of manipulation and deceit, it’s often what makes her a very clever leader. It’s just that she’s not always wise when she uses these skills and goes straight to bending situations forcefully instead of thinking outside the box. I think that’s a very interesting part of Clarke’s character arc, this impatience and her lack of faith that her people may actually know what’s good for them. That’s why ultimately she fails at inspiring people, because she doesn’t trust/believe in them.

Anyway, Clarke I love you, but don’t use cheat codes bro, you got this.

Pride Month Day 12: Fairytale

Takes place during Dark Cupid. An alternative, gayer, version of what went down in that episode. 

“I hate you so much.” Alya spat. “You disgust me.”

Ladybug took a deep breath and tried not to let her words affect her. It was just the akuma. She didn’t mean that.

“I want to take your mask off so I can expose you and your lies and everyone can see that you are just a fake! A useless fake!” Alya said, lunging at her.

Jumping away and blinking back tears, Ladybug tried to figure out how to fix this. She couldn’t focus on defeating the akuma when she had her best friend going after her like that. It was too distracting and hurtful.

As she was running from from Alya and Dark Cupid, waiting for Chat to arrive, a memory popped into her head. She remembered Madame Bustier discussing fairy tale tropes and there was one solution that stood out.

True love’s kiss breaks the spell.

This could definitely be considered a spell. And as for true love … .

It wouldn’t hurt to try, right?

A blush rising on her cheeks, she stopped running and turned to face Alya. She was going to do this. She had to do this… for Alya’s sake.

Leaping down to the street, she grabbed Alya and swung to the rooftop.

“Let go of me!” Alya screeched. “I hate you!” She tried to push her away but Ladybug took a deep breath and pressed her lips to hers.

Alya immediately stopped struggling and leaned into the kiss. Her lips were so soft and warm and … perfect.

She was suddenly hit by the realization that she had been wanting to do this for a very long time.

After just a few short seconds, she pulled away reluctantly. There was still an akuma to fight after all.

Alya looked dazed. “Ladybug?” She asked, touching her lips gently, eyes wide.

“Sorry, Alya.” Ladybug said, her heart beating quickly in her chest. “I still have to take care of that.” She pointed to the rampaging akuma. “I’ll… be back.”

She jumped towards the villain, blushing harder than she ever had in her life.

I told you about messing with those white girls: Michael Che, Leah McSweeney and the dangerous history of fragile white women

When comedian Michael Che chose to no longer engage with Leah McSweeney after connecting on a dating app, McSweeney responded with a podcast where she bashed Che, calling him a woman hater, “arrogant and so rude and disrespectful…” Michael Che produced the actual text conversations, exposing McSweeney in her lies. She tried to defend herself in the “chetuation”, by saying, amongst other things, “I’m not making excuses at all but he had this very condescending tone when he did the rejection part and that like…got me like…stirred me up inside.” False accusations made against black men and boys by white women are not a phenomenon that started with McSweeney. Just this past week we read about Carolyn Bryant, the white woman whose accusations led to 14-year-old Emmett Till’s gruesome murder in 1955, recanting her initial story that Till made verbal and sexual advances that left her “scared to death.” While Che’s interaction with Leah only led to temporary slander (thank Big Brotha Gawd Almighty that he didn’t delete that thread), it did remind us of the dangerous history of white women who have chosen to lie about their encounters with black men, and the overall belief that the black man is a threat to the fragile white woman.

 The white race has always considered itself to be the superior race in all aspects of life. As Thomas Jefferson says in his Notes on the State of Virginia, “I advance it, therefore, as a suspicion only, that the blacks, whether originally a distinct race, or made distinct by time and circumstances, are inferior to the whites in the endowments both of body and mind.” The white woman in america has always been placed on a pedestal with her long hair and her white skin. She is seen as pure and angelic; a person who can do no wrong. A quote from Phyllis Palmer in Mamta Accapadi’s piece “When White Women Cry: How White Women’s Tears Oppress Women of Color,” says, “the problem for white women is that their privilege is based on accepting the image of goodness, which is powerlessness.” Accapadi then breaks it down, “This powerlessness informs the nature of white womanhood. Put in simple terms, male privilege positions the nature of womanhood, while white privilege through history positions a white woman’s reality as the universal norm of womanhood…” The need for the white race to love the white woman and to protect her at all costs has caused the black man to be seen as a threat to her purity. As Maya Angelou says, “As far as I knew white women were never lonely, except in books. White men adored them, black men desired them and black women worked for them.”

 Historically, black men have been stereotyped as hypersexualized savage brutes that only want to rape and fetishize white women. This thought helped white women who were caught with their black male slaves. It also helped Victoria Price and Ruby Bates falsely accuse Charles Weems, Clarence Norris, Andy Wright, Ozie Powell, Olen Montgomery, Eugene Williams, Willie Roberson, Roy Wright and Haywood Patterson, 9 young black men (who would eventually be called the Scottsboro Boys) of rape after a brawl led to the discovery of them on a freight with all men, which could have possibly led to, “moral charges.” The fear of black men hurting white women led Charles Stuart to describe a “dark-skinned mugger” in a “dangerous part of town” as the person who killed his wife. It would be discovered that it was actually Stuart himself who killed her. The understanding that law enforcement will always take a white woman at her word when accusing a black man threw the scent off of Bonnie Sweeten, who told authorities that two black men in a Cadillac kidnapped her and her daughter when she had in fact stolen money from family and her job and taken her kid to Disney. It’s the reason why 19-year-old Darryl Hunt was convicted without evidence of the rape and murder of a white women. Even after DNA proved he didn’t commit the crime, he was still imprisoned for 9 more years.

 The thought that Obama’s presidency led to a post-racial america would lead some to believe that incidents like those mentioned above are a thing of the past; yet, just in 2015, american terrorist Dylan Roof cited the need to protect the pure white woman as a reason for his decision to murder 9 members of Mother Emanuel AME stating, “you rape our women and you’re taking over our country.” In February of last year, 5 teenagers in Brooklyn were accused of raping a white woman at gunpoint. After sending police on a hunt to find the boys she eventually recanted her story, and it was discovered that she was actually having sex in the park with her own father. In November, Leiha Ann-Sue Artman accused four black men of kidnapping, raping, and holding her hostage for ransom. After more questioning, it was discovered that she made the whole story up, and she got a year in jail for it –significantly less time than the men they would have charged for the crime had it gone further. The belief that black men should always be eager and honored to sexualize, fetishize and be in the presence of white womanhood came through with a chance encounter between Lena Dunham and Odell Beckham in which she assumed, “The vibe was very much like, ‘Do I want to [f—k] it? Is it wearing a … yep, it’s wearing a tuxedo. I’m going to go back to my cell phone.’ It was like we were forced to be together, and he literally was scrolling instagram rather than have to look at a woman in a bow tie. I was like, ‘This should be called the Metropolitan Museum of Getting Rejected by Athletes.’” Even our 44th President could not get away from this narrative when Arizona Governor Jan Brewer said that she, “felt a little bit threatened, if you will, in the attitude that he had,” after he had the audacity to start walking away from her mid sentence.

 As Dr. Nsenga K. Burton wrote, “Law-enforcement agencies pull out all the stops when a white woman says a black man or woman has committed a crime against her, even when the white woman is the actual predator. The behavior of the white woman and law enforcement plays to the worst aspects of our society: the idea that black men in particular and blacks in general are violent and obsessed with white women to such an extent that white women need to be protected from blacks at all costs.”  In season 1 of The Boondocks, when Sarah jokingly says to Tom, “ I told you about messing with those white girls,” the implications of these words go deeper than our laughter. Michael Che and Odell Beckham survived the false accusations with just slanderous conversations; however, false accusations led Emmett Till to his death, and have landed many black men in prison. Black mothers have had to have conversations with their sons about the possible dangers of interactions with white women, and while we always like to have hope that these situations will somehow disappear, we have to remain in a reality driven state of mind. It’s the only way we will survive.
