Begin Again

Based on this request x

Summary: You, an undergrad engineering student move into the Avengers compound by your close friend, Tony Stark’s request. This is a story of a tech-savvy, sardonic mechanical engineer helping the man out of time, Bucky Barnes, get back on his feet and into his own head and maybe just having difficulty with problems that she can’t use wrenches or screwdrivers to fix.

Pairings: Bucky x Reader; platonic!Tony x Reader

Word count: 2,626

A/N: this is my first series and I guess the first chapter’s always going to be a little slow because it’s all about exposition, right? I hope you guys like this, I’m pretty excited for this series. This story also mentions the events mapped in Civil War so be prepped for spoilers.

Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 End

Your heart pounded nervously as you entered the compound, a duffel bag on your shoulder and a pass key in hand. You walked past the reception desk and slotted the card in place to access the elevator, taking you from the silent lobby up past the masses of floors teeming with people. Men and women in lab coats or tactical gear swarmed the building carrying files or prototypes or armour.

Stark was surrounded by people constantly. It was good for him.

You, though, were incredibly nervous seeing so many people. But it was easy being around Tony having known him for a few years, so your mind eased every time you focused on that.

When you reached the right floor, you adjusted your bag and held onto the strap, looking around for your best friend without trying to look too lost or suspicious. You wondered how “Earth’s mightiest heroes” responded to a stranger looking like a lost deer wondering around their living quarters.

CPT Sarah Cudd from Public Health Command, Fort Knox is only 1 of the 46 candidates who earned the EFMB yesterday at Fort Dix, NJ..27 April 2015. This is her last few seconds of the 12 Mile Foot March. The Foot March is the last event of the Expert Field Medical Badge (EFMB), and must be completed within 3 hours. If you want it, you have to go get it. Watch this video. This EFMB candidate wanted it, and she got it. It took heart, guts, determination, falling down and getting up, and a little motivation from the crowd to get across the finish line. Check this out

This pumps me the fuck up.

Captain Sarah Cudd, an army veterinarian from Public Health Command, Fort Knox, has gone viral on the internet after footage emerged of her completing the EMFB course at Fort Dix in New Jersey.

The 12 mile foot-march was the final part of a course that saw Sarah manage to add the Expert Field Medical Badge to her already extensive collection..

Less than 25% of people who actually attempt this course manage to pass. It is clear to see that Cudd is flagging at one point with her gait indicating a strained ankle, only for her Army colleagues to cheer her on to the finish line. Captain Cudd was one of 46 candidates out of an initial field of 239 contenders who earned their Expert Field Medical Badge. Of those who passed, 14 were women.

Wiki article on the Expert Field Medical Badge

The course takes place over 14 days during which participants only get 4-5 hrs of sleep a day on cots and exist entirely on MRE field rations

Day 5 Prompt: Private work affair / Public scandal

[for @rocketangelweek]

Summary: According to Overwatch regulation 42-5.1, “While fraternization is allowed within the ranks, relationships of a romantic nature are highly discouraged and can be cited as grounds for dismissal”. Unfortunately, a certain delirious soldier recovering from surgery can only recall one thing, and it sure as hell isn’t the Overwatch regulations book.

Notes: In which Fareeha “Stick-in-the-Mud” Amari turns into an embarrassing mess under the influence of painkillers and Angela has to deal with the consequences. I thought of this like a day ago and literally erased like half of prompt I already had done to write it, but it’s been my favorite to work on by far.

Four hours. Four consecutive hours of surgery. While it wasn’t the longest operation of Angela’s life by far, it still took its toll. She cursed her patient aloud for her tight-lipped nature, removing her gloves, cap and mask before shedding her gown in order to strip down to her scrubs. All items were unceremoniously scattered across the floor before Angela collapsed into the chair beside the hospital bed.

Fareeha would definitely have to pay her back for the mess they were in, that much was certain.
