🕊 Roleplaying Experiences - Accepting

☂ : Spread some love: mention someone you’ve met that has influenced you or your writing in a positive way, and explain how.

*Pats my face* OKAY LISTEN! You gotta understand that I’m a pretty simple writer. I follow mostly emotion and how a muse feels but as a whole, I just kind of try to put up a setting and go along with it.

BUT FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE INFLUENCED MY WRITING.

@attendreesperer, @falsebeing, @jewelpendant - all are excellent in showing action, which I am terrible at doing, lmao. Reading their writing has made me want to learn how to do that better. Action is important in writing, showing and not telling, whether it be in a quieter situation or one that requires a little more. I’ve been trying to put more effort into doing this, even if it’s a lot of trial and error.

@vesselize, @vessillya, @you / @luminosyte / @vasavii ( hi i love you ) - I’m a simple writer with simple words but since I’ve met you guys? I’ve put a lot more effort into using a little more flowery wording. I’m no where near ‘poet’ kind of style or having a lot of ton of meaning like. I still think I’m lackluster at times, but that’s something that I’ve been trying to do more often. I used to think prosey was bad because it felt like it was missing a point but you can still prose and have a simple response / answer, so I’m by fare more willing to write it out in this manner.

In general tho? My friends have been with me in real life too, being way more understanding than ever and helping me through some pretty tough times. Last year was a tough year for me into the beginning of this year. I really struggled but they were there for me through it all and helped me out. That means more to me than anything, and I just you guys to know that I’m really grateful to you for looking out for me. <3

1. your middle school best friend, the one you share all your laughs with and can’t imagine not being friends with, will only be a familiar face that you’ll share a smile with across the room during high school graduation

2. popularity doesn’t matter. at all. be nice to everyone, don’t be stuck up in who you talk to, stay down to earth. high school isn’t just about climbing to the top and building contacts. one day you’re going to look back and wonder who your true friends were and what motives others had in gaining your friendship. take the time to get to know those who you normally wouldn’t, and you’ll be very surprised

3. the loneliness you feel right now is not permanent. there will be a moment, maybe months or years from now, where you will feel this overwhelming warmness, and you will look around at the people surrounding you and think, hey maybe all that sadness and loneliness was worth getting to this point. and you will smile and everything will be ok

4. don’t get sucked into the “I’m too cool to study” phase. stop glorifying netflix, going to sleep late, and barely getting your work done. find your motivation and don’t let anyone hold you back. there will be kids at school who will love to brag “I didn’t study for this test” and “oh dude I stayed up till 1am last night.” I promise that doesn’t make them cool or bad ass. in fact, most people who claim they haven’t cracked a book open, have actually studied more than you think. hold your own, be productive. you don’t want to look back on a test, a quarter, a semester, a year and think “damn, I wish I had done more.” give it your all and you will reap the benefits

5. don’t lose your spontaneity - don’t get sucked into the same rigid routine. regularity is great but you can’t lose your spark. it will crush you, years down the line, when you realize you’ve forgotten what it’s like to do something without overly planning it, without worrying about homework, without a million other items on your to-do list creeping into the back of your mind

6. when you’re having a shitty night, just go to sleep. seriously turn your phone off, close the computer, and get into bed. I promise that is the only solution.

7. when someone invites you to plans, always say yes. even if you’re exhausted, curled up watching a movie in pajamas. even if you feel like you want some alone time, or if you don’t feel 100 percent comfortable in the social situation (not in a dangerous way but a meeting new people way) - say yes. you won’t regret the experiences.

8. make yourself painfully aware of the compartmentalized characteristics and cookie-cutter personas you put on and that others put on. be conscious of the characters the media has ingrained in our society, and remind yourself that being the “cool girl” doesn’t mean drinking beer and eating burgers and letting guys step all over you so you can seem chill. reading and writing doesn’t make you “nerdy” just like playing sports doesn’t make you cool. these are associations we have been taught by movie scripts and novels. you don’t have to be one thing or the other - you can wake up early one morning, make yourself a smoothie, and be that “yoga” girl. then the next day you can stay out all night and live recklessly. you don’t have to feel like you need to fit into a persona

9. not everyone will like you, and that’s okay. stop trying to please everyone - it’s impossible. radiate confidence - even if it’s fake confidence, eventually it will become real. once you can do this, you will be untouchable

10. it’s not weird to go places alone - you don’t always need to find a friend to enjoy yourself. go for a walk, a bike ride. read at a coffee shop, take yourself out to lunch, drive somewhere interesting. don’t spend your whole day in a big ole box - you are alive, you are full of life and energy and so much potential. use it, move around, feel restless and don’t settle for staying idle

Happy Spring, my dears! To celebrate my favourite season, I present to you a tarot challenge for the month of April. You are 100% welcome to alter or skip days as makes you comfortable, as these are just my own silly suggestions. Also, please feel free to @ me or tag with April Fool Tarot Challenge to share your adventures through the month! Write as artistically or as informally as you like! (PS I realise this is a little early/long-winded, I honestly just got excited). Anyway, with your consent, I wish you all the growth and warmth of the season! :)

1. The April Fool Spread: Shuffle, and find the Fool. The cards on either side are “what to be optimistic about this month” and “what to be wary of, in case it’s a trick”

2. Tarot Garden: Go through your decks and see if you can find at least three different flower species depicted. Take a super aesthetic photo of this tarot garden!

3. The Sun Cross Spread: Shuffle and find the Sun. The cards on either side are things that will warm up your spring

4. Green Thumb: Find three cards (or more!) with green as the dominant colour. Do the cards’ meanings relate somehow? If differentiating colours is difficult, select one or more cards that mean “growth” to you.

5. The April Showers Spread: Pull a card to represent April showers (an upcoming challenge), and another to show May flowers (a potential positive outcome of this challenge)

6. The Spring Cleaning Spread: Pull (randomly or by design) a card to represent something that needs to leave your life

7. The “That Gross Dirty Melting Snow” Spread (I asked my boyfriend what spring reminds him of, which was a mistake): Tell your deck the beginning of a classic joke, and then pull the punchline. Guaranteed to be an experience.

8. The Diamond Spread: For the April birthstone, pull four cards to represent Luxury, Clarity, Strength, and Rarity for the situation of your choosing

9. The Blossom Spread: Pull a Blossom (something to strive for), a Stem (what to do to help you get there), and Roots (what you already have that will guide your journey).

10. Wild Cards: Take a photo of your cards out in nature (or if you can’t leave your house, with a sweet houseplant!)

11. Haiku: Pull three random cards to write a haiku

12. Sweet Pea: For the birth flower of April, talk about a card that always makes you feel good when you pull it

13. Rubber Boots: Pull a card randomly. Its numerical value is your puddle-jumping-armour stat. How wet are your feet?

14. Hanami: Pull a card (randomly or by design) to represent something that doesn’t last long, so needs to be appreciated while it’s here

15. Tea Time: Have some tea with your cards! You’re halfway through and deserve a break.

16. The Two Easters Spread: My family celebrates both new and old calendar holidays, meaning that we usually have two Easters a year. This year, both fall on the same day (today)! To celebrate, pull two cards: The Resurrection (a lesson you could learn from your childhood self), and Renewed Hope (a message you need to hear from your deck). Feel free to alter this one as is comfortable for your spirituality.

17. The Spring Fling Spread: Shuffle, then spread your cards face up. Are the Lovers closer to the Emperor or the Empress? Use this as advice in your interpersonal relationships

18. Fairy Tales: Pull a card or two to tell us what your life as a garden fairy would be like

19. The Aries Spread: For the last day of this sign, pull a card each for the four stars of the Aries constellation. These will represent Passion (something to pour your heart into), Impulse (something to follow your gut on), Optimism (something to lift your spirits), and Aggression (something frustrating to work on).

20. The Taurus Spread: Taurus has way too many stars for this (lol), so instead, pull a card each for its two horns. One to represent something wonderfully stable, and one to represent something just a little stubborn.

21. The Chinook Spread: Pull a card to represent a very rapid change

22. The Earth Day Spread: Pull a card (or two or three) as a reminder of everything the planet has done for you!

23. The Rainy Day Spread: Pull three cards suggesting your next rainy day activities

24. Tanka: Pull five cards to write a tanka (like a haiku, but the syllables are 5-7-5-7-7)

25. Spring Break: Build a house of cards as best you can. Share pictures, even if it’s kind of a mess (I know mine will be)

26. The Weather: Describe today’s weather using tarot cards! Maybe even try to predict tomorrow’s weather, if you’re feeling it

27. The Migration Spread: Place five cards in a V, like geese flying north for the summer. What are you flying towards?

28. The Arbour Day Spread: A pine tree needs all four classical elements to survive: earth to hold onto, air to breathe, water to drink, and fire to release its seeds. Choose one card of each suit to describe yourself.

29. Rainbow: Find cards in each colour of the rainbow, for the sheer aesthetic of it. If differentiating colours is difficult (or your deck is fairly monochrome), find a handful of your happiest cards and lay them out in an arch.

30. Sunday Brunch: You’re off for a lovely Sunday brunch. Which court card(s) do you invite?

Please, stop.

“Hey! How are you going? I just have a quick question regarding [insert pets name here].”

“Long time no speak. My dog hasn’t eaten in 6 days and has had vomiting and diarrhoea for 5 of those days. What should I do?”

“Hey, just a quick one but I really want to let my cat have kittens just once so she can experience motherhood, is 8 months too young to let her mate?”,

Please, stop.

Please, if you have a friend you rarely chat to, a friend of a friend of a friend or an extremely distant acquaintance who is a vet/student/nurse/tech etc, it is really not okay to ask for free advice. It is actually disrespectful.

Most of us (including myself) are obliging and willing to help because that is the nature of our profession. Though I tell you, if you haven’t bothered to say hey prior to Mitten’s getting into a cat fight at 2am or if you haven’t cared to check in and see how life is going before Charlie started coughing 2 days ago, it is not okay to ask for that free advice.

You usually message us in the middle of a busy day or you message late at night when we are settling in, trying to unwind from a 15 hour hectic day of sick animals and devastated/angry clients. A Facebook message or text pops up from someone we haven’t spoken to in 5-10 years. I get it, you are desperate. Most want to know if they should take their pet to a vet or not. My honest answer is, if you are desperate enough to ask someone you rarely know or haven’t spoken to in a while if you should seek medical attention for your pet, then you more than likely need to. If you are unsure, it is best to call an emergency clinic and ask for advice.

Be mindful. Veterinary medicine already consumes our lives. It bombards us in all aspects of life. I will reply and help as much as I can without physically seeing your animal, but keep in mind that I am most likely replying to you when I am shoveling food into my mouth in the 2 minutes I have spare to eat during a shift or I am in the middle of spending some rare, free time with my loved ones. I will always advise to seek veterinary attention because if you are that concerned to message me, best bet is that your pet requires it.

All we ask is to please be mindful.

My Great Comet Experience

I saw the 8 pm show on July 15, 2017! Here are a bunch of the things that happened during the show/at stagedoor (as many of the things as I can remember, anyway) in no real order:

  • Before the show, Paul Pinto gave us dumplings and chatted with us a lot and was super nice
  • Paul warned us that there would be a lot of high kicks and Russian dancing and that everyone would invade our personal space
  • When Denée walked by at the start of Prologue after Andrey had left, she made eye contact with me
  • An ensemble member sang the very first “Everyone’s got nine different names!” right in our faces
  • I got hit by so many dresses it was amazing
  • Reed LuPlau came up and said hi a few different times (Including during The Duel, when he came right up in my face and yelled)
  • I made eye contact with Everyone
  • Grace McLean and Amber Gray smiled at me a bunch
  • Nicholas Belton, as Bolkonsky, almost grabbed my sister during Private And Intimate Life but ended up going with another girl who was older than her
  • During The Opera, when Lucas entered, he stood right next to me as he said “Mais charmante” and my heart stopped
  • During The Duel, Josh Canfield slid up to me on his stomach and yelled “HEY THERE!” and I yelled back “HI!”
  • In The Duel, Grace came out all clad in leather and holding a whip (something I will never ever forget) and started doing a lot of sexual moves and she saw the confused look on my little brother’s face, looked at me, and laughed
  • Amber sounded much more concerned for Pierre than she sounds on the cast album
  • When Dolokhov “shot” Pierre, Amber screamed “NO!” but there was also some other guy who yelled “NO!” and I’m still not sure exactly who it was
  • During Letters, when Lucas was singing the “Just say yes” part, he held out the last “Yes” forever and was on the ground and basically clinging to Denée for dear life
  • When Denée yelled “YES!” after Lucas finished his part in Letters, she grabbed onto him forcefully and everyone laughed
  • During The Abduction, Nick Choksi ran over to our table and yelled “WHO’S OVER 21 AT THIS TABLE” and my older sister pointed at my little brother and Nick went “SHOTS FOR EVERYONE!”
  • Nick threw lemon Jolly Ranchers on our table
  • At one point, Nick came over, patted my head, and went “You’re a sweet kid. Don’t listen to guys like me” and I almost cried
  • Amber set her glass down on our table
  • Lucas Steele played violin right in my mom’s face
  • Lucas’ note at the start of The Abduction went on forever and everyone cheered so much it was wild
  • Lucas sat down in front of my mom for a bit and afterwards she commented on how sweaty he was
  • When Lucas told everyone to sit down during The Abduction, he sat down next to some guy and then gave him a fist bump and everyone laughed
  • While Lucas had us sitting and waiting in silence, he ever-so-slowly leaned his head back, causing everyone to laugh even more (and I leaned to my sister and said “What if Lucas just sneezed Right Now”)
  • When the “Wait! WAIT!” part happened in The Abduction, Heath Saunders went “Seriously?” in a very unhappy manner (damn you Dolokhov for ruining his fun)
  • During The Abduction, a clarinetist played right in my face
  • Everyone went WILD with the egg shakers I had one in each hand and just went at it
  • Lucas and Amber were all over each other it was very strange but definitely the dynamic I expected between the two
  • The Marya/Hélène makeout Happened and it was great
  • There was so much yelling I was very tempted to join in
  • At one point in The Abduction, an ensemble member (her name has slipped my mind) sat on my sister’s chair and just leaned on her shoulder for awhile
  • I cried during Dust And Ashes so thanks for that Oak
  • When Oak sang “Amuse yourself with women like my wife,” Amber looked so angry and offended
  • After Pierre And Anatole, Grace sat on a stool in front of my mom so she was facing me and she looked very solemn
  • I looked at her every so often and was already in tears because the show got sad, then I saw a tear roll down Grace’s face and it absolutely broke me
  • At the end of the show, Grace and I made eye contact while I was still crying and she smiled at me
  • Sonya Alone broke my heart, Ingrid started crying towards the end of it
  • Denée’s crying during Pierre And Natasha was really loud and she was right near me and it hurt my soul
  • Oak put so much emotion into everything and made me cry and smile and just??? He’s such an amazing Pierre he is honestly my favorite one
  • At stagedoor, Reed LuPlau, Andrew Mayer, Heath Saunders, Oak, and Nicholas Belton all recognized my art from Instagram/twitter
  • Everyone complimented my art and it made me feel really good
  • Nick had me sign my art with his sharpie and I almost cried right there
  • Nick, when he saw my art, was like “I’m sort of a drawer myself!” I told him I had seen his art and he looked kinda surprised
  • Lucas had me hold onto my art while he kept signing so he could come back and get it and I had to move somewhere else on the barrier to get to Nicholas so my mom took my drawing of Lucas for me and she said that Lucas was walking and looking around for me at first because I had moved
  • Lucas told my mom to tell me he said thank you for the art and honestly he was just so sweet??
  • Nicholas was the last one out so I asked him about what to do with the rest of the drawings I had and he took them in for me which was really kind of him

If I remember anything else I’ll add it in a reblog, but this is the main stuff that I can remember!

“There and Back” Tarot Spread

For travel; vacation, trips, etc.

1.) Self/the situation surrounding the person(s) traveling.

2.) What needs done before leaving/things that need wrapped up before you embark on your journey.

3.) Something you need to remember/pack before leaving.

4.) The trip there.

5.) What to look forward to/the highlight of your trip.

6.) What to avoid.

7.) What to learn/things to experience while you’re there.

8.) The trip home.

I made this spread to use for my mom before she leaves on a week long trip so I thought I’d share. I wanted it to resemble two arrows but it looks iffy, lol. Hope you like it and tag me/let me know if you try it!  )o( Keta

How to Print and Price your Stuff

The main example used here is posters (and other print items for simplicity sake), but I do mention other items and what I talk about here applies to pretty much all produced products (posters, mugs, key chains, bookmarks, comic books, etc.)

Here’s some advice based on my own experiences and research.

General Pricing:

8″x10″ posters are usually at least $10 and up. Posters Larger than that are usually at least $15 or $20 and up.

For a larger poster $45 can be perfectly acceptable especially if the content is particularly fantastic or detailed.

The exact amount really depends on you, art level, size of poster, printing costs, printing method, etc. Don’t under price your art, but don’t expect to sell a lot of and 8″x10″ print for $50 a piece unless your art is really frickin’ spectacular.

[Original art (not a print, an original, like a physical painting or sculpture) are a different story. Original paintings and the like can go for larger amounts, but your only selling the individual painting once. This will focus more on production of multiple prints and copies.]

Selling Factors:

How do you plan on selling these? For physical copies, if you’re not going to be at a convention or booth, online there’s

Shipping cost

to consider. Will shipping be an added on cost or will the poster price be higher and shipping free? (If you’re doing free shipping make sure to put that where it’s well visible. People always like free.) Also make sure to account for overseas shipping which can be way pricier.

Also consider deals.
Buy 2 get 3rd 50% off can help encourage people to buy more and raise your sales, but you have to willing to sell your product for that price. Other deals that are common are Buy $X or more and get free shipping, Buy X# of products and get free commission doodle or bookmark or other little trinket (doodles can be requests that you post on your blog rather than physically ship), Buy full set for $50 (instead of the $60 it would cost to buy them all separately), and other things in this vein.

Production:

Are you going through a site where you never actually touch the product (ie. RedBubble) or are you handling all the printing and shipping yourself?

Online Sites and 3rd Party Vendors:
If your going through a site that handles all the production and shipping it can be good since it’s very hands off. On the payment side though here are some question you need to check:
