exercise is good for you!

no offence but this lady in this healthy eating vid im watching was like ‘for lunch, i like a really hearty meal’ and she just made a chickpea salad im fucking screamign how do yall live like that???????

everyone gets a meme

So I’m scrolling through my feed looking for folks to send the “list five things about yourself” meme too and I have lovely mutuals and follows whom I don’t talk to because well…nerves, introversion, no concept of tumblr etiquette, my concern that I am only randomly social and don’t want to appear rude later, not wanting folks to feel like they HAVE to play…take your pick.

SO I’m going to post this here. Because I adore all of you and I think this is a super good exercise. If you want to consider it sent to your inbox from me, please do. Tag me in your responses so that I can see. <3

Once you get this, you have to say five things you like about yourself, publicly. Then you have to send this to ten of your favourite followers (non-negotiable, positivity is cool~)

arteriesandall  asked:

Hello! I hope you don't mind, but in another post, you mentioned exercising an hour a day wasn't good for you? I was just wondering if that's only when you're not feeding yourself enough, or in general? I'm not interested in losing weight, I just like exercising, and I keep hearing an hour a day is best (like from teachers and stuff)

Hmmm I don’t remember what prompted me to say that, but I agree with myself! ;)

I mean, no one else can tell you exactly how much exercise is best for you – that’s something you have to hear your own body on. But I think an hour every day is excessive even if you’re physically healthy and non-disordered… not building in rest days is concerning and will lead to burnout and/or injury. And if you’re in recovery from an eating disorder, most people who work with EDs would see an hr of exercise daily as a disordered behavior. Why do you want to do that amount? What happens if you can’t do it for a while? Do you get anxious or experience a lot of negative emotions? (Weight loss isn’t necessarily a motivation for everyone with an ED.) Finally, if you’re in an active ED/energy deficit, not getting enough daily calories, you’re harming your body with that amount of exercise. Your bones, your reproductive system, your heart, and other organs are at risk. Activity needs to be fueled by food, and if it isn’t, the body compensates in ways that are very damaging over time.

I hope this helps? Without more details about your situation it’s hard to answer this question, but as I said above, I’m reluctant to call an hour of exercise every day a healthy pattern for anyone. And if you’ve got an eating disorder, it could actually be life-threatening.

how to stick your plans

by a horrible procrastinator

scheduling:

  • keep things realistic. you may think you can read 200 pages of jane eyre in one night, and honestly, you could…but you won’t unless that essay that’s 30% of your grade is due, you know, tomorrow.
    • you know your habits better than anyone. try to work around what you know you’re going to do. can you read about 25 pages without getting totally bored/sidetracked? well, make yourself do that. it’s only 25 pages, right?
  • try to accomplish one thing every day. don’t ever let your day slip away from you without doing anything. even if that “one accomplishment” is making a stupid text post on tumblr or revising your notes or washing your sheets…just be productive!
    • this is especially important for those of you with mental illness! having a “zero day” can really plummet your mood or set you in an unproductive rut.
    • if you really feel like you need a day to just chill out, napping can count as your accomplishment
  • don’t push studying off! you’ve probably heard this one a million times, but seriously. don’t. you’re not going to retain 10 weeks worth of information with one study session…okay, maybe you can, but do you really want to?
    • the best, low-effort way of remembering information is to, at first, review it often. right after you learn the material, review it a couple times during the week. maybe re-write your notes that weekend. then, the next week, visit one or two times, just glazing over parts you don’t really remember well. then, maybe once every two weeks, etc…by the time you get to finals, you’ll be familiar with all the information! trust me, it works.
  • organize your to-do’s. personally, i make a huge to-do list for the entire week. then, i delegate different ‘levels’ of urgency to it (see below.) you can do this however you want, but i do it this way to help me visualize how lazy i can be and not pay for it…
    • i tend to organize it by these ‘categories’ / ‘urgent levels’
      • is there a quiz on the material due soon
      • how likely is there to be a pop quiz
      • what’s my grade in the class like / how badly do i need that ‘a’
      • does the homework/assignment need to be turned in
      • etc

actually doing it:

  • studyspo helps. okay, i know this is kind of obvious considering i’m a studyblr, but… you see that notebook you just bought? isn’t it fucking adorable? don’t you want to make some sweet, sweet note-love to it? you know you do.
    • don’t spend too much time setting up your work space or browsing tumblr. seriously. you know when you’re overstepping.
  • have some nice playlists. preferably with music you already know! if you don’t know the song already, chances are it’s just going to become a distraction.
    • 8tracks is a great site for this! you can make your own mixes or take a listen to one of the many, many study / chill playlists available. again, take a listen to the track on your way to class or whatever before actually trying to study with it on.
    • instrumentals + classical + video game music are the standard
  • get organized. messy = stressy. seriously. organize your desk, organize your notes. even if it’s not really your style, at least try to keep things ‘in your personal order.’ try to pretend you have your shit together. you will be so much more productive & confident if you feel in control of your situation.
    • if you’re a perfectionist, you may want to disregard this. really. you don’t want to put ‘tidiness’ above productivity.
    • taking pictures of your awesome, super-nice work space is awesome motivation. give that illusion of productivity. become tumblr famous.
    • if you can afford it, matching stationary and cute shit like that is super awesome feeling. it makes studying aesthetically satisfying.
  • take care of yourself. brush your teeth, put on that nice-smelling lotion, drink water. eating healthy foods, getting some exercise, all that good shit people tell you to do…it really is important. it’s kind of hard to focus or remain motivated if you’re miserably bloated & haven’t showered in 3 days.
    • especially for my neurod or mentally ill followers!

i fucked up

  • repeat after me: IT’S OKAY. IT’S OKAY. we all fuck up. you’re allowed to fuck up. sometimes assignments don’t get done, sometimes we don’t do as well on tests as we’d like. it’s okay. you’re okay.
  • recovery. alright, so, now that we’ve accepted that we’re human beans who sometimes grow upside-down…
    • cuddle in a blanket, and write down what you think you did wrong. did you not study enough? do you need to go to your professors office hours? write down your ideas.
    • let your failure motivate you! you hit your lowest point, alright? now you can focus on doing better, even if it’s just a few points difference.
    • you can do some things wrong. you don’t need to get an A every single time. did you understand 50% of the material? well, that’s halfway there!
    • you’re not going to be perfect at everything. we all have growing pains.

well, that’s all i have to say. keep growing towards the sun, kids.

Diet Witch Tips!

You’re beautiful as you are. But it you’re like me, a sugar addict and a chronic comfort eater or just looking to get to a healthier weight and healthier body, here are some tips that are helping for me!

  •  Enchant your water bottle! Encourage it not only to physically and mentally cleanse your body, but also to help give you strength to resist unhealthy food and instead crave all those lovely veggies and healthy alternatives. Thank your deities or the universe for the food you eat, and ask them to help your body use it to the best of its ability.
  •  Grow your own veggies! Things like herbs, tomatoes, broad beans, salad leaves, purple sprouting broccoli are all pretty easy for beginners with encouraging results! Gardening is extremely relaxing and an excellent way to meditate and ground yourself and connect with the earth. Garden witchcraft is a wonderful area to investigate. You then know exactly where the food you’re eating has come from and think of all the magicky goodness you will have infused it with during the growing process!
  •  As with any food magic, look at the magical associations and correspondences of the herbs and spices that you’re using. Your bolognese has bay leaves, garlic, rosemary, thyme, sage and salt in it? Looks like you’ve got yourself a purification spell! Your salad has tomato, apple, avocado, basil, chilli peppers, beets? Is that a love spell you’ve created? 99% of magic and being a witch in general is intent. You’d be amazed how many cohesive spells you create with your food. All you need to add is a dash of magical intent.
  •  Sigils! Always a versatile choice. You can create any you want, be it for willpower and motivation, appreciation, energy, exercise, good sleep, nutrient absorption. And you can draw them in your meals in sauce, or etch it into your spatula, store in your cook books, or keep in your utensil drawer, your refrigerator, on your water bottle. The possibility are endless.

I hope these may be of help to someone else out there. It’s important to stay positive when it comes to diet or, as I know only too well, it can be easy to slip into unhealthy or even dangerous habits. I’m rooting for you! And you really are beautiful just as you are :) 🍎🍊🍌🥑🥒🍆🍇

Tips for Dealing with Mental Health Problems

1. Know what your triggers are – certain people, comments or situations – and try to avoid those as much as possible. Be especially alert to anything or anyone that causes your mood to plummet.

2. Focus on the things you enjoy doing in life rather than on things that create pressure and stress. Make sure you schedule time for these in your day – even if it’s only a 10 minute workout or reading a few pages of your magazine or book.

3. Make a playlist of favourite songs that lift your mood, or that help to calm your mind.

4. Establish a support network – good friends and family members who will be there for you, no matter what. Don’t be afraid to reach out to, and contact, these people if you feel you are spiralling down.

5. Choose to spend time with positive, accepting, nurturing people – and stay away from people who don’t understand, or are critical of, mental health concerns.

6. Try and get some exercise as it releases “feel good” hormones and can change the way you feel. Also, pay attention to the kinds of foods you eat.

7. Establish and respect your own personal boundaries. We all have limits – and that includes you, as well. Don’t be afraid to withdraw, or to say “no”. It’s good to know yourself, and to know when “it’s enough”.

8. Be gentle, kind and understanding with yourself. Don’t be harsh, unrealistic or hypercritical. You are fighting a hard battle – so be there for yourself!

1. you have made it to 20! what a whirlwind year it has been but if you can survive 2016 you can survive anything.

2. remember that love trumps hate any day, everyday. just keep spreading love and being the best person you can be.

3. last year was definitely not your year for romance, try it this year though. I have a feeling a lot of love is coming your way.

4. school is a priority, do not ever forget that. you are so fortunate to be able to even attend college so just try your hardest in each and every class.

5. DO NOT SKIP YOUR 8AM! you signed up for it, you now have your afternoons free to study as you please. it’s an important class and really an hour difference of sleep is not going to kill you.

6. go to bed early, you’ll thank yourself when that 8am roles around.

7. take care of your body. eat healthy but eat good. make sure you are hydrated and exercise on the days that you can. you know that you always feel so good after you exercise.

8. keep meeting new people and keep making friends. talk to people in your classes, make new friends and study buddies.

9. when you are not feeling good on the inside remember to just take time to unplug and go outside.

10. remember your worth. this can be applied to friendships, to relationships and even when you are with just with yourself. you are worth so much and you have purpose, you are just starting to figure out new parts of your journey, don’t be so hard on yourself.

11. you can change your mind.

12. don’t let people make you feel bad for not wanting to do what you used to do, for changing and growing.

13. do not be afraid to let this love inside. when people give it to you sometimes you make up excuses to not take it. don’t do this, embrace the love and keep giving yours as well.

14. last year was so hard there is no doubt. but baby he doesn’t think about you anymore and you were not worth anything to him. that was not love and there is no love there. he is in the past, he is not your future. just let it go. let him go. no more.

15. you make each day what you will. it’s up to you and you are writing your story, you get to decided the paths that you take and the people you get to take it with. mistakes happen along the way and you can recover. you are in charge.

16. just spread love. give it to yourself in abundance and give it to the people you meet and want to keep getting to know.

17. be who you want to be in 2017. there are so many possibilities and so many different outcomes and lots of things that we do and do not have control over. make sure that the things you can control that you do. make sure that you spread love and light. we all are going to need it.

You slam the door behind you as you stomp into the motel room.  Dean is still in bed just rising up on his elbow rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

“Whoa, they didn’t have the right set of dumbbells, princess?”

“Ha, ha, Dean.  No they were closed.  A water main broke or something.  How am I supposed to exercise without a gym?

“You wanna come with me for a run?” Sam asks stepping out of the bathroom in his running gear.

You’re about to give Sam your “are-you-serious?” look when Dean chimes in.

“This one?  Go on a run with you?” Dean laughs from his bed.  “Don’t you remember that hunt when she was being chased by a ghoul?  She tried to speed walk away.”

“Shut up!” you throw one of your shoes at Dean.

Dean ducks down as it whizzes past his head.

“Don’t get me wrong sweetheart, you’re the fastest speed walker I’ve ever seen.”

Stupid brain for putting you in this situation.

Stupid gorgeous, muscled Super Soldier who just had to be working out right in front of you with his God-like physique and sweat glistening on his handsome brow.

At this point, you had no choice in the matter. You were too far gone. Resistance was futile.

“You know, you could just tell him,” muttered the red-headed former assassin beside you.

You scoffed, “Who? About what? I mean, I don’t…what’re you…”

Unimpressed by your less-than-convincing response, Natasha caught your eye and raised an eyebrow. She knew.

Huffing out a frustrated sigh, you conceded. “I can’t do that.”

“Why not?”

A snort of laughter escaped you, “Why? Because he’s Steve Rogers! Captain Freaking America. It’s not gonna happen.”

She shrugged, “You never know unless you try.”

Just Right

(Bucky x Reader)
Thank you anonymous requester!

Summary:

Reader has been secretly drawing Bucky for a long time, but can never seem to get his eyes just right. In frustration, one day she storms over to him and demands that he sit still so she can finally get his eyes right.

Warnings: Nada

As an artist, you loved observing the diverse people who passed through, and lived in the Avengers tower. Ever since you joined the team about 3 months ago, you have had a keen interest in your team members eyes. They all held so much, and although you were able to read their thoughts, you felt you could learn so much more from simply looking into their eyes.

“Why can’t I just get them right?” You groaned to yourself as you rubbed your eraser aggressively against the paper of your sketch book.

You’re a talented artist, this shouldn’t have been difficult, but you could not draw Bucky’s eyes for the life of you. You tried day after day, but were unable to get them perfect, making you ever so frustrated. You scanned the room to see if he was nearby, but you couldn’t hear his thoughts. You hopped up off the couch and made your way to the place where Bucky could almost always be found, the gym. You opened the glass doors and he immediately caught your eye. You watched as he performed multiple different exercises, but couldn’t get a good view of those piercing blue eyes. You had had enough, you were going to get this right.

“Hey Bucky”

“Hey-” Before he could finish his sentence you interrupted him.

“Could you please sit still, for just like one minute, please.” You demanded.

“Uh, yeah forsure.” He sat up and grabbed his water bottle, enjoying his break.

All your teammates loved it when you drew them, it made them feel special.

“Thank you, y’know I just can’t get your eyes right and it drives me crazy. I hope this isn’t weird, I just-” You babbled, scribbling down on your paper.

“No, I love it.” He chuckled showing that beautiful smile you had drawn so many times before.

“Okay I think I finally got them!” You exclaimed in pure joy.

“Well let me see.” He inquired impatiently with his arms outstretched.

You passed him your sketch book and watched his eyes light up as he flipped through the pages.

“Wow Y/n, this is amazing!”

“You really think so?” He asked shyly.

“Absolutely! The amount of detail. Just fantastic.” He seemed to be in awe.

You were so pleased with yourself, until you remembered that you had whole page of drawings of you and Bucky together. You had a little crush on him ever since you joined the team, and you really expressed it through your drawings.

“Hey could I have that back I just remembered i have to prep for a mission?” You questioned frantically, if he ever saw those drawings you’d hate yourself.

“Oh my… Wow!” He stumbled on his words, you knew it was too late.

You remained silent as he examined the sketches intently. He ran his fingers over the lines you had drawn and a smile emerged on his face. You tried not to listen to his thoughts, but you couldn’t help but hear his happiness, not disgust to your surprise.

“I know you know what I’m thinking already, but I’m going to say it anyway. I am so relieved you have feelings for me, because you have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do this.”

Before you had the chance to react, his lips were against yours. He wrapped an arm around your waist and pulled away slowly, staring deeply into your eyes.

“That wasn’t too much was it?” He questioned nervously.

“Absolutely not.”

You could tell this was going to be the start of something good.

Seventeen Reaction to: Taking A Bath With You

some smuttiness ahead, you have been warned! ~

S.Coups: Not even shy about checking you out. His eyes bore into you, drinking in every inch of your body while you’re madly scrubbing away dead skin cells with a loofah. “Babe, you look so good right now.”

You scrub his hair while he talks about his day, then it’s your turn, getting to vent as he massages sweet smelling shampoo into your hair (Or just gives a scalp massage if you have no hair). Not only do you get to spend time together but if you have hair, it is now luxurious and glossy.

Joshua: Pretends he’ll be a gentleman, only wanting to relax in the bubbles and wash up with you. But once the bathroom door locks, his hands are all over you, “soaping” away the dirt.

“Joshua, you’ve washed my butt three times.”

“I’m just making sure you’re clean!”

Jun: Teases you that he’ll do dirty things but once the scented candles and bubbles hit, they make him drowsy and instead, you both cuddle and talk until the water turns cold.

Hoshi: Let’s just say … you left feeling dirtier than when you went in.

Wonwoo: Had been hoping it would lead somewhere but didn’t want you to feel pressured into anything. So he remained quiet, hoping the bubbles concealed his “friend.” If you do initiate sex, angels start singing in his head *ignore Hoshi lol*

Woozi: Very giggly and hyper. He just can’t sit still and keeps accidentally splashing water out of the tub. Although he’s acting super cute, the hunger in his eyes contradicts that.

“Jagi, are you almost done washing? I have something better in mind that we could do ~”

DK: Stares in awe until his wide grin breaks across his face. “Is it okay to touch you?” Wants your consent before sliding his hands over your slippery body, encouraging you to do the same. He’s just so fascinated, watching in wonder at each droplet trickling down your body.

Mingyu: Drops heavy hints for what he wants. “It’s not healthy to stay up all night. And exercise is good for making you sleep well, right? Do you know any exercises we could do in a bathtub?”

The8: Depending on his mood, you could both have a cute, cuddly bath with rubber duckies and a glittery bath bomb. But if he’s not in a cute mood, he wastes no time in making what he wants clear.

“Shall we clean up now or wait until afterwards?”

Seungkwan: Acts like he’ll be a diva, insisting you bring “that shower gel that smells like roses” to scrub his back and “be gentle this time!!” But once you’re both in the bath, his joking nature fades and he’s loving and soft. He insists he doesn’t want anything in return as he helps you wash and gives you a hand massage, listening to you vent or just talk about your day.

Vernon: His giggles ruin any hope of a romantic atmosphere. Instead he’ll probably splash you, leading to a water fight and an hour spent afterwards cleaning up the bathroom with a disappointed S.Coups standing, arms crossed, in the doorway.

Dino: Acts like he’ll be an innocent baby but all his fav porno’s feature shower scenes. When he thinks you won’t notice, he’s checking you out and getting riled up. His imagination is running wild at this point. But he’s too shy to initiate anything so if anything happens is up to you.
