executive vice

“[Boreland - executive vice president] was always rude, condescending and dismissive towards the Goodstein Production Team,” the suit alleges. “Ms. Boreland, however, treated the African-American staff in a much friendlier and respectful manner.”

They didn’t complain when they had slaves.. I would love to sue America for discrimination against black people.

Trump’s budget aims to exclude Planned Parenthood from all federally funded programs

  • Ahead of Tuesday’s official reveal, a leaked executive summary of President Donald Trump’s budget bars Planned Parenthood from participating in any Department of Health and Human Services programs.
  • That Planned Parenthood is specifically called out in the budget’s language appears to be unprecedented.
  • “It singles out Planned Parenthood [and] guts programs designed to help women and their families put food on the table, get the medical care they need and make ends meet,” Dawn Laguens, executive vice president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said in a statement.
  • “Gimmicks and misdirection cannot cover up a deadly agenda that would hurt women and prevent access to basic health care in the U.S. and across the globe.” Read more (5/23/17)

So this is a thing…..

Ivanka met with Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards in secret, report says

  • Ivanka Trump made a quiet show of compromise in the aftermath of her father’s inauguration, taking a low-profile meeting with Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards.
  • Details of the meeting are now beginning to emerge. According to Politico, the first daughter met with both Richards and an unnamed “vocal surrogate” on Hillary Clinton’s campaign to ostensibly clear up misconceptions about Planned Parenthood’s services.
  • “The purpose of the meeting, from Cecile’s point of view, was to make sure that Ivanka fully understood what Planned Parenthood does, how it is funded, and why it would be a terrible idea for Planned Parenthood to be removed from being able to see Medicaid patients,” Dawn Laguens, executive vice president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, told the outlet. Here’s the (power) round-up so far:

Alternatively titled - “The big boys behind our (1D) boys.”

  • Harry is backed by Columbia CEO, Rob Stringer.
  • Niall is backed by Capitol Music Group President and Universal Music Group’s Executive Vice President for Creative/Special Projects, Ashley Newton. (Very important to note that Ashley is also Niall’s A&R. Even more important to note that he is known as one of the most successful A&R’s in the US music industry. Chew on that for a second.)

So the questions are:

  • Will Charlie Walk (Republic Records President) or Nick Raphael (Capitol Records UK, President) back Liam?
  • Who will back Louis? Will anyone back Louis? If Louis’ own team which he currently pays for cannot even do basic promotion for him, then who is truly in his corner? Is anyone in his corner besides Steve?

That’s the current snapshot, folks.

One last note: In addition to the Columbia CEO backing Harry, he has the added might of Irving Azoff, the excellence of Dawbell PR, and the gigantic publicity machine of Warner Brothers Studio when “Dunkirk” promo starts. Make no mistake – the promotion for Harry will be NEXT LEVEL and unlike anything we’ve seen from the 1D team (Syco/SJPR/Modest.) Amateur hour is over.  Superstar Harry has got a formidable team to shoot him into the celebrity stratosphere. Get ready.

p.s. Yes, it’s not an even playing field. It was never going to be an even field. Adjust your expectations, accordingly.

By Denise Petski

Starz said today the third season of its hit time-travel saga Outlander will return in September, but no specific date is set.

The premium cabler in June announced a two-season pickup for the series that hails from developer/executive producer Ronald D. Moore and Sony Pictures TV. The third season will consist of 13 episodes based on Voyager, the third of eight books in Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling Outlander series. In March, production and filming on the current season moves from its home base in Scotland to Cape Town, South Africa, to shoot sea voyage scenes on the former sets of Starz’s original series Black Sails. Production on Season 3 began in September 2016 and will wrap in June.

The Season 3 return comes months later than Season 2’s spring 2016 premiere.

“While ‘Droughtlander’ will last just a little longer, we feel it is important to allow the production the time and number of episodes needed to tell the story of the ‘Voyager’ book in its entirety, said Carmi Zlotnik, President of Programming for Starz. “The scale of this book is immense, and we owe the fans the very best show. Returning in September will make that possible.”

The story picks up right after Claire (Caitriona Balfe) travels through the stones to return to her life in 1948. Now pregnant with Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) child, she struggles with the fallout of her sudden reappearance and its effect on her marriage to her first husband, Frank (Tobias Menzies). Meanwhile, in the 18th century, Jamie suffers from the aftermath of his doomed last stand at the historic battle of Culloden, as well as the loss of Claire. As the years pass, Jamie and Claire attempt to make a life apart from one another, each haunted by the memory of their lost love.

Steve Kent, Senior Executive Vice President, Programming, Sony Pictures Television added, “With the scope of the production and all of the intricate details that go into the Emmy-nominated sets and costumes, we had to make sure everything is kept to the high standard of the previous seasons and Diana Gabaldon’s beautiful story. We’re so proud of the incredible work that Ron and the Outlander team have done.”

Moore, Maril Davis, Matthew B. Roberts, Toni Graphia, Anne Kenney and Andy Harries serve as executive producers of Outlander, which is produced by Tall Ship Productions, Story Mining & Supply Company and Left Bank Pictures in association with Sony Pictures Television.

Here’s a fun clip of stars Balfe and Heughan saying farewell to Scotland.

‘Heaviest aircraft pull by a production car’

As world record attempts go it may strike many as plane bonkers.

But a British driver has accelerated into the Guinness Book of Records by successfully towing a 285-tonne Airbus A380 superjumbo - the biggest passenger aeroplane on the planet – using a standard Porsche Cayenne sports utility vehicle (SUV).

And that was after the UK Porsche team behind the record-breaking attempt drove the car – more usually seen on school runs - from London to Paris to carry out the feat.

The German 4X4 , driven by Porsche GB technician Richard Payne, towed the giant Air France double-decker aircraft over a distance of 42-metres at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, to set a new Guinness World Records title for ‘Heaviest aircraft pull by a production car’.
It beat the previous record by a margin of 115-tonnes.

The new Guinness World Records title was set by a 157mph Cayenne S Diesel costing £66,767 whose 4.1litre V8 engine produced 385hp of pulling power – the equivalent of around four Ford Fiestas. The exercise was then repeated using a 176mph Porsche Cayenne Turbo S costing £121,550.

A far cry from towing the standard caravan, trailer or horse-box, the Porsche Cayenne was connected to the Airbus A380 via a special attachment that sat on the vehicle’s standard tow bar.

Slowly but surely as Porsche’s Mr Payne pressed down on the accelerator, the Cayenne carefully pulled away with the giant passenger plane edging forward inch by inch behind it and then gradually picking up the pace as both car and aircraft gained in momentum.

Mr Payne, a technician at Porsche GB, who drove the record breaking car said: ‘It did it – I’m so relieved! We don’t usually go this far to test the limits of our cars but I think today we got pretty close. I could tell that it was working hard but the Cayenne didn’t complain and just got on with it. My mirrors were quite full of Airbus, which was interesting.

‘Our cars can go a bit beyond what our customers might expect – they’re designed to be tough. But even so, what the Cayenne did today was remarkable.
‘We drove the car here from London – and I plan to drive it home again, having towed an A380 in between.’

But while the attempt was primarily a British achievement, Mr Payne also praised colleagues at his parent company in Southern Germany. He said: ‘Credit should go to the team in Stuttgart who developed the car – they did a thorough job. I’m also very grateful to Air France and its engineers for their generosity in allowing me to tow their beautiful aircraft’.

The project was carried using one of Air France’s fleet of ten A380 aircraft and the airline’s 60,000 square metre state-of-the-art engineering hangar which is big enough to house one superjumbo or 3,000 Porsche Cayennes. The hangar is usually home to all the engineering and maintenance activity for the Air France fleet.

Pravin Patel, adjudicator, Guinness World Records said: ‘I’ve verified some amazing record attempts during my time as a Guinness World Records adjudicator – watching a Porsche Cayenne tow one of the largest aircraft in the world definitely ranks as among the most spectacular. My congratulations go out to all those involved in achieving this remarkable feat.’

Porsche said: ‘In accordance with the rules applied by Guinness World Records, the test was overseen by independent engineers. After the record was set, performance testing and scrutiny of every major component and electronic system on the vehicle was carried out in order to provide certification that the car was to production standard.’

Gery Mortreux, executive vice president Air France Industries said: ‘It was an honour to host Porsche at our hangar at Charles de Gaulle. It is usually home to our engineers working on our fleet of 10 Airbus A380 – one of the most sophisticated aircraft in the world.

It was fun and exciting to watch the two machines together – our engineers were intrigued and impressed. Congratulations to Porsche on a remarkable achievement.’
‘It shows the passion we put on every challenge we take. Like Porsche, we thrive on excellence and pushing engineering boundaries.’

The previous world record, broken by the Porsche Cayenne, was set in August 2013 when an unmodified Nissan Patrol pulled an Russian Ilyushin Il-76 cargo plane weighing 170.9 tonnes inclusive of fuel, at Sharjah International Airport in the United Arab Emirates.

Daniel Radcliffe is heading to television to star as an angel

Daniel Radcliffe is headed to American television.

The former Harry Potter actor will star as an angel in the TBS comedy Miracle Workers, the network announced Wednesday. Radcliffe, who previously appeared on British television with A Young Doctor’s Notebook and guest-starred on Ricky Gervais’ Extras, will star as Craig on the show, “a low-level angel responsible for handling all of humanity’s prayers.” Craig’s boss, God, will be played by Owen Wilson.

“Having Daniel Radcliffe and Owen Wilson join the TBS family is proof of the continued evolution of this comedy brand as the home of the most creative minds in the business,” said Brett Weitz, executive vice president of original programming for TBS, in a press release. “Owen Wilson has long been a comic genius, and Daniel’s performance in last year’s Swiss Army Man really proved that there’s a sophisticated comedian under the surface of those brilliant dramatic chops.”

Miracle Workers is based on Simon Rich’s book What in God’s Name and Rich created the show and will work as showrunner. Lorne Michaels is executive producer.

“Simon and Lorne are total pros in walking the tightrope between reality and ridiculousness, and they do it with a lot of heart and wit,” Weitz said.

In addition to Miracle Workers, which will air in 2018, TBS also announced three other new series: Close Enough, animated series from Regular Show creator J.G. Quintel, The Joker’s Wild reboot hosted by Snoop Dogg, and a new untitled series from the comedy trio The Dress Up Gang.

TBS also signed a four-year deal with Conan O’Brien that will keep Conan on TBS through 2022 and “will extend the brand into digital content, podcasting, gaming, pay TV and live events.”

The Lion Guard will have a educational exhibit at Miami Children’s Museum

Miami Children’s Museum is counting on the magic of Disney to help market itself nationally as a museum for original programming.

The 34-year-old museum is curating an exhibit based on Disney Junior’s popular series, “The Lion Guard.” The educational exhibit, which will tap social, physical, problem-solving and self-development issues, opens in late January for a six-month stay before hitting the road to other children’s museums across the country through 2022. This is the Miami museum’s first partnership with Disney-ABC Television Group.

“The Lion Guard” follows the museum’s 2010 pairing with Warner Bros. for “The Wizard of Oz Children’s Educational Exhibition,” which, after its tour, returned to Miami Children’s Museum.

The Miami museum’s creation of an exhibit is akin to a Broadway show that embarks on a road tour. At every stop, a playbill names the originating theater. Miami Children’s Museum gained exposure from the “Oz” exhibit and hopes to do the same with “The Lion Guard,” which continues the storytelling of the popular 1994 movie, “The Lion King,” and its long-running Broadway musical. The main character is Kion, the second-born cub of the original story’s Simba and Nala, and a diverse group of friends who unite to protect the Pride Lands.

Other museums also will pay Miami Children’s a rental fee to stage “The Lion Guard” after Miami’s exclusive six-month run, which will boost the museum’s ability to get first-class exhibits from other museums.

“The significance of it to Miami and Miami Children’s Museum is it brings a wonderful traveling exhibit to our community and it also services the entire industry,” said Deborah Spiegelman, chief executive officer and executive director of the museum.

“Unfortunately, in children’s museums, there are not a lot of exceptional quality traveling exhibits for the children’s museum world to rent and bring in. We have found a few and there are a couple leading museums that do some nice exhibits and we bring them in but it’s not enough. We are helping to bring something to fill this niche for 350 museums in this country.”

The focus of Disney Junior is on programming geared to early childhood learning and will be a key driver of the coming exhibit.

“Helping kids learn to appreciate teamwork and recognize the attributes that contribute to being a strong leader is an important milestone in their development and we are delighted to be working with the Miami Children’s Museum on their exhibit featuring the characters and themes from our much loved Disney Junior series, ‘The Lion Guard,’” said Nancy Kanter, executive vice president for content and creative strategy and general manager for Disney Junior Worldwide, in a statement.

Things you shouldn’t forget about Lauren Mallard:

  • Cecil first considered her to be ‘a delight’ and was excited to work under her.
  • She sometimes shows herself to be a little money hungry and barely contains her hatred towards anyone getting in the way of StrexCorp.
  • She’s shown that she knows what to say to get her way and is not just a pushover.
  • She seems to have better control over her emotions than say, Kevin, being able to express and control anger and fear despite these being ‘bad’ emotions.
  • She’s good at her job, getting promoted from executive to Vice President over the course of her time on the show.
  • ‘Going to the weather’ is her favourite part of the show.
  • She seemed to have respected Kevin’s wish to not have his name shortened and yet calls him ‘Kev’ later anyways.
  • She owns/owned stock, most of which she liquidated to try and see if it really would make Kevin ‘less kind’.
  • It’s possible that she too has unusual decorating habits, having placed framed pictures of human teeth around the studio.
  • The whispering forest doesn’t speak to her.
  • She’s very concerned for Daniel when things start to not go their way.
  • She pushes Kevin’s boundaries and may enjoy doing so.
  • She wasn’t impressed with Kevin’s abuse of his StrexPet.
  • She ignores a lot of Kevin’s attempts to push her buttons back and rarely if ever is passive-aggressive back without a purpose.
  • She’s also non confrontational if it involves direct violence, giving up when confronted by Tamika Flynn rather easily.
  • Her whereabouts are currently unknown.

Trump names anti-abortion leader Yoest to top HHS post
The assistant secretary of public affairs shapes communications efforts for the entire agency.

Charmaine Yoest, tapped to be assistant secretary of public affairs, is a senior fellow at American Values. She is the former president of Americans United for Life, which has been instrumental in advancing anti-abortion legislation at the state level to restrict access to the procedure.

“Ms. Yoest has a long record of seeking to undermine women’s access to health care and safe, legal abortion by distorting the facts, and her selection shows yet again that this administration is pandering to extreme conservatives and ignoring the millions of men and women nationwide who support women’s constitutionally protected health care rights and don’t want to go backward,“ Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) said in a statement.

AUL’s website — which states that the group offers state lawmakers 32 different pieces of model legislation to restrict access to abortion — characterizes Yoest as “public enemy #1” for abortion rights organizations.

“It is unacceptable that someone with a history of promoting myths and false information about women’s health is appointed to a government position whose main responsibility is to provide the public with accurate and factual information,” added Dawn Laguens, executive vice president of Planned Parenthood.

11 times The Simpsons predicted the future with eerie precision

Dismiss ‘The Simpsons’ simply as a cartoon for kids at your peril. In the 25+ years it’s been running, Matt Groening’s hit animated sitcom has delivered countless storylines over 27 seasons and one movie, and nestled among the anarchic tales of America’s premiere nuclear family have been some weirdly prescient predictions about the near future.

Here’s the 10 most chillingly accurate predictions made by ‘The Simpsons’.

President Trump - Predicted in 2000

Episode: S11 E17 ‘Bart To The Future’

Donald Trump has just been elected as the next President of the United States, but his ambition was foreseen by this classic ‘Simpsons’ episode where Bart was shown his future by a Native American.

Lisa has become President and, in a scene where she addresses her inner circle, she says: “We’ve inherited quite the budget crunch from President Trump.” Spooky.

The Higgs Boson Particle – Predicted in 1998

Episode: S10 E2 ‘The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace’

Simon Singh, the author of a book titled ‘The Simpsons and their Mathematical Secrets’, claims Homer Simpson predicted the mass of the Higgs Boson particle 14 years before it was actually figured out for real by scientists at the Large Hadron Collider.

Singh says this equation, written by Homer on a blackboard, is eerily accurate. “If you work it out, you get the mass of a Higgs boson that’s only a bit larger than the nano-mass of a Higgs boson actually is.”

Greece’s economic collapse – Predicted in 2012

Episode: S23 E10 ‘Politically Inept, with Homer Simpson’

Three years before this year’s government debt meltdown in Greece that saw it become the first country to default on an IMF loan repayment, a throwaway gag on this 2012 episode predicted how outlandish the situation would become.

A ticker on a rolling news station that Homer appears on reads “Europe puts Greece on eBay”. We wonder if the Greeks have considered this option during their darkest hours.

Ebola outbreak – Predicted in 1997

Episode: S9 E3 ‘Lisa’s Sax’

A crackpot viral video that did the rounds in 2014 claims ‘The Simpsons’ predicted the recent American Ebola outbreak. The episode saw Marge offering to read Bart a book titled “Curious George and The Ebola Virus”, which the YouTube creator Thecontroversy7 says proves that the makers of the show knew about the future outbreak and are, of course, members of the illuminati.

It was almost convincing before the illuminati stuff wasn’t it?

Siegfried and Roy tiger attack  - Predicted in 1993

Episode: S5 E10 ‘$pringfield (Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Legalized Gambling)’

The stage career of flamboyant German magic duo Siegfried & Roy was brought to a shocking end in 2003 when Roy Horn was mauled by one of their trademark white tigers while performing live on stage in Las Vegas.

Ten years earlier, in a ‘Simpsons’ episode that sees Springfield briefly legalise gambling, a flamboyant Germanic magic duo with a penchant for albino big cats called Gunter and Ernst make an appearance at Mr Burns’ casino. Their performance is cut short when their mauled by their trademark white tigers. Makes you paws for thought doesn’t it?

The NSA scandal – Predicted in 2007

Episode: ‘The Simpsons Movie’

Six years before Edward Snowden blew the whistle on the true extent of the NSA’s spying on American citizens, ‘The Simpsons Movie’ featured an extended gag about the extensive surveillance network of the National Security Agency.

A chance remark from Marge chastising Lisa for worrying about spies while on the run sparks an alarm in a NSA building. The building contains thousands of workers listening to private conversations across the country and Marge’s loose lips lead to the family’s arrest.

Horse meat scandal – Predicted in 1994

Episode: S5 E19 ‘Sweet Seymour Skinner’s Baadasssss Song’

A full 19 years before it was revealed that some beef sold in Europe had been contaminated with horse meat, ‘The Simpsons’ made a joke about Lunchlady Doris cooking with “assorted horse parks – now with more testicles”.

On a side note, Lunchlady Doris is now Lunchlady Dora, a name change facilitated when the character’s original voice actor Doris Grau died in 1995.

Faulty voting machines – Predicted in 2008

Episode: S20 E4 ‘Treehouse of Horror XIX’

In the 2008 Halloween special, Homer tries to vote for Barack Obama at an electronic voting both, but the machine malfunctions casting a vote for his rival John McCain instead.

Just 4 years later, a Pennsylvania voting machine was taken out of service when it was filmed casting votes intended for Obama in favour of his real-life rival Mitt Romney.

FIFA Scandal - Predicted in 2014

Episode: S25 E16 ‘You Don’t Have to Live Like a Referee’

A year before the football world was turned upside when a series of high-ranking FIFA officials were arrested by the FBI on charges of corruption, a similar thing played out in this 2014 episode of ‘The Simpsons’.

Homer is visited by the executive vice president of the “world football federation” who wants him to be a referee in the upcoming World Cup. He’s promptly arrested by American authorities for corruption and carted off. The episode even predicted Germany as the winners of that year’s tournament.

9/11 – Predicted in 1997

Episode: S9 E1 ‘The City of New York vs Homer Simpsons’

You’re deep into the conspiracy theory rabbit hole if you think this one is even vaguely feasible, but here we go anyway.

A YouTube video from user “truthwillfindyoubru” points to a moment in the 1997 series 9 opener that sees Lisa holding up a bus coupon ad that promises New York tickets for $9. The placement of the price, next to the Big Apple’s skyline including the World Trade Center, makes the ad read “New York 9 11” which they suggest means the show’s makers had “foreknowledge” of the attacks.

2016 Nobel prize winner

Episode: S22 E1 ‘Elementary School Musical’

In the 2010 season opener Lisa, Millhouse, and a bunch of her nerdy friends have stayed up late to hear the winners of the Nobel prize, in which Krusty wins the Nobel Peace Prize.

So far, so Simpsons, but then we get a look at Martin’s betting pool card and we see Millhouse had predicted an Economics prize for Bengt R. Holmstrom, who actually went on to win in earlier this year. MIT’s Holmstrom was joint winner of the 2016 Nobel Prize in Economics with Oliver Hart for their work on “contact theory”. No, us neither.
