Medical Astrology

❝   Medical astrology (traditionally known as iatromathematics) is an ancient medical system that associates various parts of the body, diseases, and drugs as under the influence of the sun, moon, and planets, along with the twelve astrological signs. ❞

Medical Astrology has been practiced for centuries over centuries and still remains in practice to this day - although it became much humbler as modern medicine evolved and astrology transformed into something wildly interpreted as “humbug”. Even some of those who study astrology still seem to have a false understanding of what exactly medical astrology is and therefore don’t believe in it themselves.

So to clear up any possible misconceptions before I start: Medical Astrology is NOT the stars telling you that you’re going to have a specific condition because one of your placements suggests it. As with most other things, there’s a lot that comes into play: Other placements, on one hand, but especially, and I really want to stress this, things like how you treat your body, accidents that you may get into, DNA, … you get the drift.

I already mentioned it, but medical astrology only SUGGESTS higher risks for specific ailments. It does NOT predict them. (Transits, however, CAN - but even they don’t promise for you to get the disease or whatever ailment is supposed to happen. This is another topic, though.)

Having said that, I will make another post for very specific conditions, for this one I’ll only talk about some general things like what signs/houses/planets rule what body part and what role everything plays. Also, I do NOT take responsibility for what you do with this information. I’m not trying to scare anyone, I’m just passing on some of my knowledge.

  • Aries/1st House: rules head, face (and everything in it), brain, hair, vision
  • Taurus/2nd House: rules throat, voice/vocal cords/tract, neck, thyroid, weight
  • Gemini/3rd House: rules hands, arms, nerve system, shoulders, lungs, brain
  • Cancer/4th House: rules alimentary canal, breasts/chest, stomach
  • Leo/5th House: rules heart, chest, upper back, spinal column, spine
  • Virgo/6th House: rules intestines, nervous system, digestive system, spleen
  • Libra/7th House: rules skin, lumbar region, kidneys, buttocks, lower back
  • Scorpio/8th House: rules genitalia, bowels, reproductive & excretory system
  • Sagittarius/9th House: rules thighs, hips, sciatic nerve, liver
  • Capricorn/10th House: rules skeletal system, knees, joints
  • Aquarius/11th House: rules calves, ankles, circulatory system
  • Pisces/12th House: rules feet, toes, adipose tissue, lymphatic system

  • Sun: general vitality, spine, heart
  • Moon: digestive & lymphatic system, stomach, female organs
  • Mercury: central nervous system, hands, brain
  • Venus: throat, kidneys, ovaries
  • Mars: muscles, head, adrenal glands
  • Jupiter: growth, pituaitary gland, liver
  • Saturn: skin, hair, bones, teeth, immune system, spleen
  • Uranus: neural activity, aura, parathyroid gland
  • Neptune: pineal gland
  • Pluto: metabolism, pancreas

Now we know what the involved parts represent, but not why and how that is. So to use medical astrology properly we have to make the connections between these aspects (hint: aspects can play a role too, but one usually puts more emphasis on houses/signs + planets) and know about some common themes:

  • SATURN suggests struggles & weakness in the assigned body part(s) of the sign/house he resides in.
    • e.g.: Saturn in Gemini and 5th suggests trouble with breathing properly (in extreme cases ailments like asthma) and back problems
  • URANUS often makes for “abnormalities” or strange/unusual conditions.
    • e.g.: Uranus in Taurus and 3rd can indicate rapidly changing weight and somewhat differently formed fingers (in extreme cases things like swan neck fingers)
  • STELLIA can cause trouble due to the excessive amount of energy bundled in (a) certain body part(s).
    • e.g.: An Aries (head/brain) stellium can make for strong or chronical headaches
  • EXTREME DOMINANCE works like a stellium as long as the dominance is very prominent.
  • CHALLENGING ASPECTS can lead to trouble as well -  one has to look at the planets involved and the houses/signs they’re in for this one to know more.
    • e.g.: A VERY afflicted/”damaged” sun in the 6th might in extreme cases indicate a heightened potential to suffer of a heart attack.

I of course didn’t cover every theme, every aspect, everything that is important, but with your new-earned knowledge you should have a solid and basic foundation with which you should be able to work. As I already said, I’ll make a separate post with very specific ailments which I will also describe (the why and how) that I will then link in this one.

As Medical Astrology is its own branch of astrology and therefore gets more and more complex the more you dive into it, my ask box is always open if you should need clarification or help with interpreting something.

requested by @brain-tyre-fire - sorry for the delay!! i’ve definitely forgotten something, but the list was getting ridiculously long – tho if there’s anything specific you’d like me to add, don’t hesitate to ask!! c:

The breeder had resisted its repair cycle, and immediately attacked the technicians with a voracity they hadn’t been able to imagine before. The screams were like nothing he had ever heard as the breeder simply tore them apart with its bare manipulators. Nutrient fluids splashed against the walls and floor, thick and black, it also coated the breeder. He hadn’t gotten a good look before going to acquire a weapon, but the back of his mind thought that one of the techs limbs had been forced into an excretory orifice. The breeder had come out of the inclosure like a slick black nightmare. Howling in rage it had cut through every tech in the lab, and the security force that had been dispatched to contain it. They had wounded it, but each impacted either illicited a momentary pause or no reaction at all. It was now prowling the ship, picking them off one by one as it found them. He had been running for hours, and it was becoming difficult to move. But… it… never stopped. No matter how much he moved or hid, he couldn’t rest long enough to maintain this much movement. It was methodical, unstopping, and unstoppable. It kept repeating the vocalization that was unique to the offspring, and occasionally the warrior. The calls echoed flatly. A dragging sound had been added as it moved, metal scraping against metal. It had armed itself with a section of pipework that it tore from the wall of the corridor… that sound kept drawing closer.. and closer. K’fer tried to still himself, make as little sound as possible, couched as low and small as he could make himself. It was at the door to the room now. He could hear it pause at the door, it vocalized the offsprings sound again, then its warrior’s. Then it was silent. Completely silent. No dragging sound, no steps, nothing. K’fer tried to peek out from behind his barricade. If he hadn’t already voided himself in fear before, he would have done so again. The last thing his left eyestalk saw was the breeders face, the white of its eyes a stark contrast to the dark fluids coating it. He froze in panic as it opened its mouth, the white of the protruding bones it used to feed flashed, and his stalk went dark forever. The small breeder tore the weapon from his grasp, and lifted him from the ground with its remaining forelimb. A feat he would have dismissed as impossible only days before. The stump of its other forelimb moved up. He could see that it had used some wiring to reduce fluid loss, and had somehow burned the wound shut. It had done this to itself, while fighting… then continued to comb the ship… killing everything that moved. It vocalized at him, drawing out the sound of its offsprings call. He knew what it wanted. Maybe it would spare him if he returned the damn grub. He tried to not appear threatening as he slowly moved a limb to indicate a direction. It set him back on the floor as he had hoped it would… unfortunately it was only so it could free its manipulator to tear all of his limbs from his body, save the one he had gestured with. It then lifted and carried him out of the room, shaking him at each intersection until he indicated which way to go. It was a short distance to the lab where the testing on the offspring was going to be taking place. He could tell by the gore and remains that it had already passed through this area, but had passed the lab door. It slammed him repeatedly against the door until he used the controls to open the door. It dropped him as soon as it saw its offspring, and collected the unharmed thing. It made some kind of barking sound and released fluid from its eyes. The fluid was smearing the gore on its face into long streaks. It turned to him again, and howled one more time. The last thought K’fer had before its bare foot crushed his head was, “humans are terrifying.”

      Omegaverse AU

There are a lot of variations of Omegaverse that nobody seems to agree upon…Should everyone be more of a were-animal type human? Or is everyone strictly human? Do female Alphas have dicks or do they just have the Alpha scent and instinct? How many dynamics are there?

Well, for this month I’m going to use my own form of Omegaverse so that requesters aren’t confused as to what kind of Omegaverse to use! Buckle the fuckle up *evil laughter*. In the Haiykuties variation of the Omegaverse, the humans are strictly that. There are no werewolves or other type of were-animal.

      What is Omegaverse?

Omegaverse is a alternate universe where humans in society evolved to have the social/biological hierarchy of wolves. The hierarchy is as follows, from highest (or most dominant) to lowest (or least dominant); Alpha, Beta, and Omega.

Alpha- The Alpha dynamic is the most dominant dynamic. They are the ones with the most aggressive and protective instincts. They are larger and stronger, and they are the most dominant in bed. Their scents are usually strong and tend to make those less dominant than them want to submit.

Beta- Betas are basically considered to be like the “normal humans” of Omegaverse. Their dominance tendencies vary like regular humans. Male betas are large, but not as large as Alphas and same could be said of Female betas and Omegas. They are generally the middle ground and are more abundant than Alphas and Omegas. Their scents are usually softer than Alpha scents but still kinda sharp (think “fresh rain”)  and can calm down scared Omegas and enraged Alphas.

Omega- Omegas are the most submissive of these roles. They are the ones who are timid and nurturing. You’ll often find that the other dynamics gravitate toward them, not just for their personalities, but also for their scents, which are naturally sweeter than the other two.

(A little side note/disclaimer: These traits I listed are just traits that the dynamics tend to lean towards. Timid Alphas exist and so do Fiery Omegas)

What is the difference in biology?

The biology in Omegaverse can get a little confusing because instead of having one sex, people have two; gender and dynamic. The gender of a person is either female or male ( if they want to be nonbinary that’s fine too), which is used for how they present themselves to the world, and the dynamic is either alpha, beta, or omega, which is how they reproduce.

First thing first, parents usually can tell the gender of their child at birth, and they could pay extra to find out the dynamic of their child early. If they don’t want to do that, dynamics usually present themselves 2-3 years after puberty, after pubescents grow into their “adult” bodies . Scents will change, Alphas will have Ruts and Omegas will have their first Heats.

Beta biology is pretty black and white. Since they are closest to what a “normal human” is, they reproduce how a straight couple reproduces; men have penises and women have uteri. Betas do not have Heats nor Ruts, as they are fertile year-round.

Alpha and Omega dynamics are a little more complicated in biology

Alpha- Alphas are guaranteed to be pumped full of testosterone (hence, why they’re so aggressive), but depending on their gender, their penis will either be prominent (males) or retractable (females). Female Alphas do still have a uterus, but they’re usually smaller, while their penis is located where a normal clitoris is. Female Alphas can get pregnant, but it is super rare as their uterus is smaller with less of a chance of a fertilized egg to stick. An Alpha’s penis in general is larger than a Beta’s, and it is the only kind that will “knot” during sex (which means that the base will enlarge and keep them inside an Omega after cumming). This gives them a better chance for reproducing. Alphas also go through a Rut, meaning that their testosterone is at its highest. This is similar to an Omega’s Heat in that it heightens an Alpha’s sex drive, but it also makes them more aggressive and possessive than usual.

Omegas- Omegas are the ones who have the most estrogen in their body and are able to get pregnant and give birth. The difference between female and male Omegas are where their vagina is located. A female Omegas’ entrance to their vagina is through the vulva (so basically like a Beta female), while Male Omegas have a cloacae that leads to both their vagina and their rectum (which is closed off during their Heat). Male Omegas do have a penis and can impregnate another person, but it is super rare as their sperm are weaker than their eggs.

(side note: A Cloacae is a common cavity at the end of the digestive tract for the release of both excretory and genital products in vertebrates. Yes, it is a real thing. Yes, I’m shocked too.)

Omegas all have Heats, which are when they’re at their most fertile. Heats (and Ruts) last for about 3-4 days, and they happen once every couple of months. When an Omega starts their Heat, their scent will get strong enough to make all Alphas in the vicinity go crazy with the need to mate immediately. An Omega’s Heat is probably more potent than an Alpha’s Rut, as Omegas will have a multitude of symptoms that won’t go away until they are mating.

Symptoms of an Omega’s Heat would be:

      • Sweating profusely
      • More natural lubrication (both can cause dehydration)
      • A strong urge to be dominated
      • Lack of rational thoughts (other than sex) called Heat Delirium
      • Hard cramps
      • Increased sensitivity to touch

Heats are usually very painful for an Omega when they don’t have a mate or even toys to help them through it. Omegas can take suppressants to skip their Heats, but that can come with a danger of becoming infertile if they take suppressants too often. Instead, most Omegas like to shut themselves up for their Heats and wade it out with some toys (or their mate if they have one). Every building (even schools and universities) has emergency sound and scent-proof “Heat Rooms” should an Omega start their Heat unexpectedly. They do have the option of birth control through the pill, which is popular among younger Omegas, but it does come with some side effects, such as a change in smell, less intense heats (only by a small amount), and mood swings (much like regular birth control, everyone reacts to it differently, so there are more symptoms).

      Pair Bond

A unique part of Omegaverse biology is the ability to pair-bond with each other, meaning they’ll combine scents through a process to become permanently bonded with each other as mates. Everyone in the Omegaverse has a gland near their neck that produces pheromones and doubles as their way to pair-bond. The pair-bond usually manifests emotionally first before the couple can claim each other (through biting each other’s glands), otherwise the process wouldn’t work and no bond would be established. This prevents Omegas from being bonded against their will.

How does Society cope with these dynamics?

Historically, society hasn’t had a good handle on these dynamics, resulting in too many Omega rapes, sex trades, and arranged marriages, resulting in an abundant number of suicides. On the Alpha side, too many Alphas were murdered in an attempt to win over Omegas, brutal violence was commonplace, and their aggressiveness was encouraged as a sign of strength.

Timid Omegas and Aggressive Alphas were seen as the most desirable traits for those presentations, leaving no room for variation of personality at the risk of being looked down upon.

As society became more modernized, more laws have come about to make sure every person is safe. Alpha aggressiveness became less idolized in favor of self control, since controlling one’s instincts is harder than succumbing to them. Rape, arranged marriages, and sex trades were outlawed. Mental health is taken just as seriously as physical ailments.

In the event of Heats, there always has to be a Beta on scene to calm any tensions between Alphas in the vicinity (since Beta scent is naturally soothing). The Omega is questioned to see how aware they are, and if they are found to have already succumbed to Heat Delirium, then their families, friends, or mates (whatever contact of choice) are called to help take them back home. On site Betas are responsible for taking them to the closest Heat Room until the Omega’s contact shows up. Alphas are to be kept away from the Omega unless the Omega gives permission for an Alpha of choice to mate them.

In the event of Ruts, Alphas are restrained by any surrounding Betas and taken to a Heat Room to reduce the chance of an Alpha attempting to force themselves on any surrounding Omegas. They can either request a punching bag or a sex toy to help them through their Rut, but when they calm down they are escorted home. If an Omega volunteers to *ahem* help an Alpha through their Rut, the Alpha can either accept or decline their offer. Since Alphas don’t suffer from Heat Delirium, they are able to make (somewhat) rational decisions and show some restraint, raging hormones aside. These guidelines are taught to teenagers of every dynamic, both before and after they present.

In the event of a duel between Alphas because of a dispute, Alphas are to be supervised by other Alphas and Betas, so as they could be stopped before one of them dies. These duels have to be reported to the authorities beforehand by one of the supervising Betas/Alphas should the duel end in a stalemate, which then they would settle it legally. They also report it so that the authorities can provide the Alphas with an on-site doctor. If they don’t report their duel beforehand, it’ll be considered assault and all parties will be arrested. (I want to say that the duel guidelines follow a similar format to the “Ten Dual Commandments”….except it’s legal and without pistols lol….and they don’t die (hopefully)). Some people think this is barbaric, but Alphas seem to like this method better than have it drawn out for months until one of them snaps. Duels are more common among younger Alphas.

Nowadays, all the dynamics are welcomed to be themselves, whether an Alpha is naturally timid or shy, or an Omega is fiery and aggressive. People are complex and they should not be completely reduced to their instincts.

      Additional Info

Heat Rooms are fully stocked with water (that risk of dehydration tho), snacks, blankets, sterilized sex toys, and they have a bathroom with a shower.

      Anatomy & Physiology

Human disease is caused by wrong rhythm of life, by ignorance of the law of periodicity. The appearance of man on the planet is not the cause of disease. There was disease in the mineral, vegetable, and animal kingdoms long before man. The basic cause of disease are mistakes about the law of periodicity, the law regulating the processes of nature. The law of periodicity can be studied in sexuality, for example such as it expresses itself in woman, in particular. By following this arrangement of nature, the cyclic manifestation of sexual impulses, important discoveries about the rhythm of life could be made. The application of this understanding would eliminate most causes of disease. The knowledge of the law of periodicity is in itself an entire discipline, which will be given to mankind when it proves itself able to comply with the laws of life.

Mankind has never sought to apply these laws, even though the wise men of all ages have intimated their existence. The planetary hierarchy casts no pearls. Pearls will be given to mankind, when it proves itself able to estimate their true value. All disease is caused by mistakes made about laws of nature and laws of life in this life or in past lives. Some people in the esoteric field assert that disease can be cured in some cases, but that this is possible only if you know the causes (in past lives) and, having a full knowledge of each particular cause-effect condition. Otherwise, the consequence will be that a certain organ is cured, but not the constitution, so that the disease is transferred to another organ….or the “germ of disease” may be transferred to a higher “envelope” and must work itself out in the next incarnation, if not in this one. So once again, the cause of disease MAY lie in past incarnations.

To look at a few things more specifically:
-Diseases that result from hatred (criticism and judgment) depend on energies going from the throat center to the navel center.

-The organism(body or being), has been whipped up to abnormal performance through stimulants, and the individual will have to pay for this.

-Physical disease is the result partly of wrong stimulation, over-stimulation, wrongly applied stimulation, or some sort of inner tension; partly of inhibitions, psychic deprivation, or congestion of energies.

         -Irritation results from self-interest, self-sufficiency, and self-satisfaction.

The cause of disease is not only, as many sects believe, illogical thinking. If that were the case, then everybody would be incurably ill. It’s also important to note that the zodiac signs each have a certain mineral(cell salt) that they associates themselves with..and in tern, they associate themselves with a particular body part. When we’re in compliance and in rhythm with these minerals, disease may also be avoided, or at the very least, we can minimize damaging effects that are created from their deficiency.
The 12 zodiac cell salts are as follows:

Aries - Potassium Phosphate, Rules the head, face, brain, eyes, muscles, pineal gland. Said to be good as a brain food helpful for nerve and brain imbalances. Foods containing this salt include Parsley, Beans, Beets, Carrots, Linseed Meal, Peanuts, Milk, Buttermilk, Cheese and Avocados.
Diseases: Headache, migraine, pimples on the face, sinus problems, nosebleeds, fever, inflammation, haemorrhage, high blood pressure, burns, scalds, toothaches, baldness.

Taurus - Sodium Sulphate, Rules the neck, throat, thyroid gland, vocal chords, larynx, chin, lower jaw, ears, tongue, vocal chords, tonsils. Said to be good in regulating the water supply in the body system, decreasing or increasing it as needed. Foods containing this salt include Cauliflower, Lettuce, Cabbage, Turnips, Radishes, Onions, Egg Yolks, Celery, Brussel Sprouts, Kohlrabi, and Milk.
Diseases: Gout and joint inflammation, sore throat, Tonsillitis, stiff neck, tension, excess weight, under-active thyroid gland.

Gemini - Potassium Chloride, Rules the arms, shoulders, fingers, upper ribs, lungs, bronchial tracts, trachea, thymus gland, nerves and nervous system. Said to be good for forming and distributing fibrin throughout the body, thereby moderating coagulation. When clogging occurs, it is associated with sinus and throat problems as well as fibrous growths. Foods containing this salt include Cheese, Egg Yolks, Radishes, Coconuts, Lentils, Carrots, Spinach, Asparagus, and Sauerkraut.
Diseases: Those associated with the nerves, nervous strain, chest and lung complaints, asthma, insomnia, amnesia, all diseases in the arms, shoulders, hands, corrupted blood.

Cancer - Calcium Flouride, Rules the stomach, breasts, breastbone, alimentary canal, lower ribs, womb, pancreas. Said to be good for muscle and ligament tonicity, (thus helping prevent muscle prolapsis) as well as healthy teeth enamel. Foods containing this salt include Turnips, Asparagus, Beets, Goat Cheese, Kelp, Garlic, and Pineapple.
Diseases: Stomach and digestive complaints, upset stomach, breast disorders, lymphatic system disorders, obesity.

Leo - Magnesium Phosphate, Rules the heart, upper back, spine, spleen, aorta, circulation. Said to be good for healthy nerve tissue, thus assisting nerve transmission. Foods containing this salt include Cauliflower, Cabbage, Asparagus, Beechnuts, Almonds, Whole Wheat, as well as fruits such as Lemons, Limes, Oranges, Grapefruit, Figs, Gooseberries, Peaches, and Cherries.
Diseases: Heart problems, hardening of the arteries, high or low blood pressure, spinal and back problems, blood disorders, all sicknesses in the ribs and sides, the yellow-Jaundices.

Virgo - Potassium Sulphate, Rules the stomach, intestines, nervous system, abdomen, lower dorsal nerves, bowels, nails, spleen. Said to be good for circulation of oils through our body, which supposedly assists digestion and kidney function, as well as excretion of toxins through the skin. Foods containing this salt include Cauliflower, Lettuce, Cabbage, Onions, Celery, Brussel Sprouts, Tomatoes and Cucumbers.
Diseases: Anxiety, nervous tension, bowel and digestive system disorders, intestinal disorders, abdominal disorders.

Libra - Sodium Phosphate, Rules the kidneys, lower back, lumbar region, buttocks, adrenal glands, blood vessels, skin. Said to be good for balancing the acid-alkaline function in our bodies, thus helping all acid conditions which affect the nervous system. Foods containing this salt include Cottage Cheese, Eggs, Buttermilk, Brown Rice, Tomato juice, Cirtus fruits and juices, Whole Wheat products, Lentils, Vegetable Greens, Asparagus, and Parsley.
Diseases: Associated with the kidneys and any problems that arise with them, obesity, cholesterol problems, acne, etc.

      The Root Chakra

Working my way up the body, in chakras!

To heal your chakra, work through the emotional issues listed under the overactive/underactive. Include some foods or scents in your daily diet/routine. Say the mantras a few times a day, with meaning (modify them to your taste and by your intuition). You can also always just meditate on the location and imagining a bright light that is the color of the chakra on its corresponding place on the body.

      What is it:

The root chakra is the first chakra in the body chakra system (the seven main chakras). It sits at the base of your spine, near the tailbone. It is in charge of feelings of security, survival needs, and protection. It connects you to the element of earth.

      Study Habits

I may be translating Koro-Q, but I still can’t get enough of it, so here’s a comic! I thought those segments where Gakuho gives magnificently bad advice were hilarious, but we only saw Class E’s reactions to his advice in the anime. I was thinking “How would Gakushuu react to his advice?” He and his friends would probably be busy practicing swordsmanship or something, but this was surely broadcast throughout the entire school, right?

Don’t study like this BTW. Sleep, meals, and excretory functions are important, you know :O

      Phylum Enchinodermata - Class Holothuroidea

Members of the Phylum Enchinodermata have a very unique system called the water vascular system.  The water vascular system is a hydraulic system used for locomotion, food and waste transportation, and respiration. The madroporite is a pore that acts as the opening for water to enter the water vascular system.

Class holothuroidea includes sea cucumbers. Sea cucumber’s oral-aboral axis is elongated with the mouth at the oral pore and the anus at the aboral pore. The madroporite is located inside of the sea cucumber in its coelom. A significant internal structure is the respiratory tree. The respiratory tree is a highly branched internal structure used for gas exchange and excretory function. As a defense mechanism, some cucumbers will expel their internal contents out of their cloaca in a process called evisceration. These structures are regenerate within the following weeks.

Take a look at this cool video on sea pigs (a type of sea cucumber)!

Have you ever wondered why you always keep complaining about headaches, migraines, pimples in the face every other day? When you have any of these problems, the immediate thing on your mind could be - just rushing to see a doctor or consult any specialist. Now, it’s time you think it in terms of astrology. Each Zodiac Sign is associated with a different part of our body. The twelve signs cover the body from head to toe. Since Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, it is associated with head and Pisces being the last, it is associated with feet.

This knowledge of body parts - zodiac associations helps us in knowing about the weakest area in our body, which is more prone to injuries. And in accordance, we can pay more attention and avoid activities that may harm that area. We can take better care of that particular body part.

This is also of great use to medical astrologers in diagnosing problems of their clients. They use a person’s natal chart and give advice to the clients about the areas of the body in which they are most likely to experience pains and troubles. For example, Taureans are more prone to sore throats, stiff neck, under-active thyroid gland because of the Taurean association with throat and neck.

What do you think a vampire's insides look like? Love your blog :)

I think vampires’ insides look basically like those of a pre-dissected anatomy cadaver. They’re bloodless, perfectly preserved, hard, but not visibly different from those of a human. Maybe, on closer inspection, you’d notice that certain organs looked somewhat shrunken because venom effectively switched them off, but you’d need to be someone with a lot of anatomical experience to spot the difference.

(Off the top of my head, I imagine that a vampire’s excretory system is basically non-functional, but their digestive system– including the pancreas and gallbladder– is extremely efficient, so there might be structural indicators of that continued use/non-use.)

But why, it may be asked, do the petals vary in number? Why, for instance, are there 4 in the Muladhara and 6 in the Svadhishthana? The answer given is that the number of petals in any Chakra is determined by the number and position of the Nadis or Yoga-nerves around that Chakra. Thus, four Nadis surrounding and passing through the vital movements of the Muladhara Chakra, give it he appearance of a lotus of four petals which are thus configurations made by the positions of Nadis at any particular centre. These Nadis are not those which are known to the Vaidya. The latter are gross physical nerves. But the former, here spoken of, are called Yoga-Nadis and are subtle channels (Vivaras) along which the Pranic currents flow. The term Nadi comes from the root Nad which means motion. The body is filled with an uncountable number of Nadis. If they were
revealed to the eye, the body would present the appearance of a highly-complicated chart of ocean currents. Superficially the water seems one and the same. But examination shows that it is moving with varying degrees of force in all directions. All these lotuses exist in the spinal columns. The Merudanda is the vertebral column. Western anatomy divides it into five regions; and it is to be noted in corroboration of the theory here expounded that these correspond with the regions in which the five Chakras are situated. The central spinal system comprises the brain or encephalon contained within the skull (in which are the Lalana, Ajna, Manas, Soma Chakras and the Sahasrara); as also the spinal cord extending from the upper border of the Atlas below the cerebellum and descending to the second lumbor vertebra where it tapers to a point called the filum terminale. Within the spine is the cord, a compound of grey and white brain matter, in which are the five lower Chakras. It is noteworthy that the filum terminale was formerly thought to be a mere fibrous cord, an unsuitable vehicle, one might think, for the Muladhara Chakra and Kundalini Sakti. More recent microscopic investigations have, however, disclosed the existence of highly sensitive grey matter in the filum terminale which represents the position of the Muladhara. According to Western science, the spinal cord is not merely a conductor between the periphery and the centres of sensation and volition, but is also an independent centre or group of centres. The Sushumna is a
Nadi in the centre of the spinal column. Its base is called Brahma-Dvara or Gate of Brahman. As regards the physiological relations of the Chakras all that can be said with any degree of certainty is that the four above Muladhara have relation to the genito-excretory, digestive, cardiac and respiratory functions and that the two upper centres, the Ajna (with associated Chakras) and the Sahasrara denote various forms of its cerebral activity ending in the repose of Pure Consciousness therein gained through Yoga. The Nadis of each side Ida and Pingala are the left and right sympathetic cords crossing the central column from one side to the other, making at the Ajna with the Sushumna a threefold knot called Triveni; which is said to be the spot in the Medulla where the
sympathetic cords join together and whence they take their origin—these Nadis together with the two lobed Ajna and the Sushumna forming the figure of the Caduceus of the God Mercury which is said by some to represent them.

Sponges are filter-feeding marine animals that rely on water flow to obtain their nutrients and remove waste. By injecting non-toxic fluorescein dye at their base, one can visualize the flow they induce in the water. Only seconds after the dye is introduced, the sponges have pumped it in, through, and out. Different parts of the sponge filter particles of various sizes for food. Oxygen and carbon dioxide are transported, respectively, into and out of cells via diffusion. In this way, the sponge’s pumping fulfills digestive, respiratory, and excretory functions.  (Image credit: Jonathan Bird’s Blue World, source video; submitted by Jason C)

How To Write An Angry Letter

In the past week or so I have seen a hella and a half of problematic things thanks to the handy dandy internet. I don’t even have to list these things, do I? You already know. And I know that you know that people are angry.

As much as I would like it to be this way, life’s problems cannot be solved by a musical number, the power of friendship, or building a barricade out of furniture, and as much as some people (myself included) would like to see things set right through fisticuffs, we live in a “civilized” world in which person A must make good with person B in a calm and orderly fashion. There are some exceptions, where the beating of our hearts echo the beating of our drums, but until that day comes, my lovely followers, we as mostly intelligent beings must, as well tell our kindergarteners to do, use our words.

In this post, I will teach you how to write an angry letter by following three easy rules:

      Yoga For Your Sign

      Written by: Vanisha

Hey! It’s been a while, huh? I’ve been sitting on this yoga lesson idea for a while now, but for some reason, up until now, I haven’t felt inspired to write it.

Since delving more into astrology, I’ve been able to pinpoint and further understand certain characteristics about myself and those around me. As well as characteristics though, I’ve also learned how different signs apply to one of the four elements and certain body parts. For example, I’m a Taurus which governs the neck and throat and that explains why I used to hate people near my neck – I guess LoA had people near my neck quite often?? – and why I sing pretty much all the time (even though I can’t, sorry neighbours).
Like yoga, I feel like astrology can be a great way to understand ourselves and our bodies more. So I’ve put the two together in this post on yoga poses that benefit you in terms of your signs or that benefit anyone depending on, for example, what sign the sun or moon is in at the moment!

      Head, face, brain, eyes.
Warrior 1, 2, 3 and humble warrior, chair pose, headstand and fire log pose.
