Happy birthday to one of our favorite Lhasas on Tumblr, Tommy!
He is the perfect meld of Indiana Jones and James Bond; he’s just as comfortable digging for buried treasure (on the beach) as he is sailing the high seas.

In addition, he goes KAYAKING. A Lhasa KAYAKING?
It appears that he also got an A+ in Lhasa puppy school for snuggling.

Happy birthday and may you have wonderful adventures (and a well stocked supply of shampoo) in your future!
As summer goes on it’s getting hotter and hotter and all too often animals are victims of the heat and owners ignorance.

If you’re in certain parts of the US, Canada, and the UK, it’s been HOT lately. News outlets have been saying how people need to drink more water and what not, but you cannot forget about caring for your furry friends.

Tommy and his awesome person Kendra have posted a great guide to keeping your pets safe during this heatwave. I did not reblog this since there is a somewhat graphic shot of a pup’s footpads when they went for on a walk on super hot asphalt. Think of the worst kitchen related burn you’ve ever had and you might be close. If you don’t have the stomach to see the pic, here’s the text from the post

Please, do not leave your dog in a car even for 5 minutes with the window down. The temperature inside a car is much higher than outside and can give the dog heat stroke and result in death.

Hot asphalt can burn dog’s paws so be careful walking them. Try waiting until night time to walk them.

Please give your dogs and other animals plenty of water.

If they get hot you can use a spray bottle to cool them down.

Try to limit their activity as to not get them to over heat.

Please leave your dog(s) at home or take them to a dog daycare.

Don’t wait until it’s too late.

Thank you Tommy and Kendra!
