Emotionally Carol cannot touch Blue is the Warmest Color. Therese is an even weaker character than Adele was in Blue and and I waited for Therese to react when Carol left but she sat and waited like a good puppy. The breakup scene alone in Blue is the Warmest Color tops Carol the movie. Carol is nice but Adele Exarchopolous did it better in Blue and Carol reminds me of Emma in Blue too

I disagree and also think you shouldn’t compare the two. You also have to take into account the time period where everything and everyone was repressed. Then add to that a love that was literally illegal at the time. The emotion is there, just controlled. It had to be. It’s in what’s not said, the pauses, the silence, the glances, winks, smiles and brief touches. But it’s all there. Therese didn’t just sit there like a good puppy. Lol she began getting on with her life. She grew up a lot and built up walls around herself because she had experienced heartbreak. That’s character development.
