collection of the headcanons by me and anon (anon if you want to be named please let me know ur username!)
Ok shiro being adopted by batman and then people mixing him up with Jason from a distance or in poor lighting bc they’re both tall and jacked with a white forelock
imagine the batfam reacting to shiro going missing/presumed dead on the mission that was supposed to fulfill his dream of being an astronaut, and like this is a “death” with no body to try to resurrect
shiro lowkey trying to find a green lantern to contact an earth one to tell his family he’s alive
Shiro being so mad at Bruce because of what happened to Jason?? and leaving to the Garrison on bad terms with Bruce only to disappear in the Kerberos mission, and this makes Bruce feel like shit??? So Bruce begs Clark, Diana, Hal, etc all to search the universe for him and is devastated when they find no trace
UNTIL THEY DO!! And that’s how they find Shiro post season 2 and help him get back with Voltron and defeat Zarkon!!!!
ALSO the team coming back to Earth and meeting Bruce and the batfam, and now Shiro is no longer the “adult” in charge??? And it’s so odd for them to see Shiro be pampered by Bruce and Alfred and have Dick and Jason be his brothers (who are basically his age)????
Shiro feeling like Bruce bc he’s leading kids into danger and thinking “what would Bruce do” in situations the Paladins remind him of his brothers
The worst: Shiro thinking of Bruce and his strict no killing rule and shiro having to kill in the arena /the angst/ (shiro confessing his actions back on earth to his family and feeling so guilty and worried how they’ll react because it’s one thing to want to kill the joker but some of those were more the equivalent of petty crooks )
Shiro being like, I killed so many, and being unable to look Bruce in the eye. But then Bruce just pulls him into a hug and holds him close, doesn’t say anything. The Voltron team is surprised because Shiro never confessed about this haunting him, and it’s just all so new to them?? But Bruce just holds him close.
and when he finally lets go, Jason pulls Shiro into a tight hug and pats his back. tells him that he would have killed the entire Galra race if it meant getting Shiro back alive. and though Shiro feels guilty abt this, it makes him feel good/safer to hear Jason say it.
the Paladins all getting designated guest bedrooms and being honorary Waynes bc theyre Shiro’s family now and now part of the extended family.
Bruce treating shiro tenderly even tho Shiro’s killed more than Bruce ever will and feels like he’s aged so much but Bruce and family still treats him like he’s his kid and it’s exactly what shiro needs to feel less like a monster).
The batboys bickering over which lion their personality fits.
Coran and Alfred bonding
Dick claiming the blue lion. Jason claiming the red lion. Damian fighting over Bruce for the black lion. Tim calling the green lion. Cassandra gets the green lion.
Selina and Allura being friends?? Cassandra/Allura??
batfam actually hears about shiro in space before they know it’s him, Hal (or another GL) comes back from deep space talking about the galra and all these ex-prisoners and this Champion and he just shares it like it’s interesting gossip but then months later when shiro is back and either an alien the league/group meets or one of the Paladins mentions that he’s the Champion and suddenly his family knows all the gory details without his thoughts behind them
Shiro feels a bit violated and embarrassed cuz he wished they never knew this about him but they all provide him with so much support
I didn’t expect Jean Valjean to have a totally lovely slightly bearish emotionally mature husband called Robert who brings up Cosette with him nor did I know until today that I really wanted this & this is exactly what Valjean needs.
I really didn’t expect Cosette to be so incredibly obviously gay and so heavily not into Marius that she’s actively trying to go to England in order to escape from him.
I didn’t expect her to have an actual girlfriend in the form of delightful OC Cicely who she is persuading into giggly convent trysts.
I didn’t expect Javert to have a magical crimefighting hat that helps him to track Valjean through the sewers in what is in fact an extremely lengthy sequence, like I’m not making a joke about a single shot here I mean that there is actually a hat which Javert follows because it’s better at finding Valjean than he is.
I didn’t expect yet another OC in the form of Valjean’s prison ex Genflou who taught him to read and is prepared to commit perjury for him and still loves him and gives him. so many intense gazes. crying.
I didn’t expect Marius to say “I said the king was a fat pig”
I didn’t expect that Gavroche and Cosette would be best friends who call each other ‘citizen’.
I knew it would be terrible. I didn’t expect that I would LOVE IT.
This got…a little out of hand. It was supposed to be a short one-shot, and it wound up being a bit more like a nearly 2.5k oneshot. Hope you enjoy it, though, anon!
Also, since we don’t know much about Matt’s character right now, I had to make my own headcannons.
“Lance, are you in?”
“Yeah, just a sec…” He
peered around the corner. “It looks clear. You said they’re at the end of
“According to the
schematics.” Pidge’s voice was low and tense over the comm link. “Can
you see them?”
“Not yet. Any guards showing
“I think Keith’s diversion
worked pretty well. They’re all in the east wing.”
Lance took another quick peek and
rushed down the hall. “Okay. I’m going in.” He plugged in a small
computer Pidge had given him to the handprint reader beside the room at the end
of the hallway. “It’s ready.”
She remoted in and made quick work
of hacking through the security system keeping the door locked. “Just a
minute…” He glanced over his shoulder nervously as she worked. “Got
The door whooshed open, and Lance
ran inside. The large, dimly lit room was filled with prisoners, all looking
defeated and exhausted. They stared at him for a brief moment before it sunk in
that he wasn’t a Galra soldier.
“Everyone, follow me. I’m
gonna get you out.” Lance grinned. “I’m a paladin of Voltron. We’re
here to rescue you. Go out in the hall, and I’ll lead you out of here.” By
far, this was his favorite part of the job. Saving people and, hopefully,
reuniting them with their families. He ushered them out of the room one by one,
mentally counting how many he’d need to accomodate. “Pidge, do we have any
spare ships? There’s a lot more here than I can fit in Blue.”
Unfortunately for Lance, he didn’t
even hear her answer. Instead, he froze and lost focus entirely when he saw the
next two prisoners ready to hurry out into the hallway.
“Wait.” He grabbed the
younger man’s shoulder. “Are you…” His heart was racing. He
couldn’t be wrong about this. Not with Pidge listening in. “Are you Matt
Prisons fail to protect society from "criminals," except for a very small percentage and only temporarily. Prisons "protect" the public only from those few who get caught and convicted, thereby serving the primary function of control over certain segments of society.
Prisons deter would-be "criminals" who decide not to take the risk. They discourage prisoners from criminal activity after their release.
The assumption that prisons deter crime at all is highly suspect. Despite its paramount importance in penal policy, the success of deterrence is never really examined for fear that it may prove to be a fantasy. In the same way, retribution is never really examined for fear it may be a fact. Prisons might deter a very small percentage of those who have done time but they encourage post-release crime in a far greater number of ex-prisoners.
Prisons rehabilitate prisoners.
The primary functions of prisons are control, punishment, and oftentimes retribution. Additionally, prison conditions generate an atmosphere of resentment over reconciliation and tend towards producing the behaviors prisons are allegedly meant to correct.
Summary: Mickey gets released from prison, but no one knows. The first place he goes is the Gallagher house.
Word Count: 1125
Notes: Thanks so much for 100 followers. I haven’t had this account for long so it means a lot! :)
It’s been a long time since Ian has seen Mickey– three years, seventeen days and two hours to be exact. He misses him everyday, but he knows he needed to move on, so he did. Eight to fifteen years is a long time, and with Ian’s bipolar disorder, he needs stability.
So here he is with his family, Kev, V, Svetlana, Yevgeny, and his boyfriend Trevor, in the most stable environment that he could provide for himself. And then, Mickey walks in the back door.
“Holy shit,” Ian’s face goes pale and his heart starts thumping.
“Miss me?” He says to Ian.
Suddenly, Liam and Yevgeny run to Mickey. He picks them both up and hugs them tightly. “I missed you,” Liam says.
“Missed you too, buddy,” he kisses Liam on the head and then he kisses his son on the head as well. “I missed both of you.”
Liam eventually unlatches himself from Mickey’s embrace, but Yevgeny stays holding on tightly. “Are you home forever, daddy?”
“Yeah, Yev. I’m home forever.” He kisses his head again and hands him over to Svetlana, who kisses him on the cheek and welcomes him home.
Everyone’s jaws are dropped open in shock, other than Trevor, who is looking at everyone in confusion. He tries to ask what’s going on and who this is, but no one answers, they just stare at the dark haired man who walked in the back door.
Debbie is the next to get up and hug Mickey. She introduces him to her daughter. “Hey, Frannie. This is your Uncle Mickey,” she says and he waves at the baby. Mickey smiles at the term “Uncle Mickey.”
Carl, Lip, and Kev then get up to greet him and tell him it’s nice to have him back. They were followed by Fiona and V, who hugged him tightly and told him how much they missed him.
Finally, Ian gets up and walks to Mickey, ignoring everyone around him. He grabs his face, as if he’s making sure he’s not hallucinating. “I want to punch you.”
“Fuckin’ do it then,” Mickey responds.
Ian shakes his head and kisses Mickey instead. The boys wrapped their arms around each other and Mickey smiled into Ian’s mouth. When they separated Ian leaned his forehead on the other man.
“You’re an asshole,” Ian said.
Mickey nods. “I know. So are you.”
“I know.” With that, Mickey punched Ian in the arm. Ian grabbed for the aching spot that was punched. “What the fuck?”
“You never fucking visited me,” he tried to mask the sadness in his voice because he knew that there were people surrounding them.
“It was hard seeing you,” Ian frowned. He regretted never going to see Mickey, but it was just too hard for him to handle– especially after their last encounter, which was Ian breaking up with him.
Mickey nods and looks down. “Fuck, I missed you.” After hearing that Ian wrapped his arms around the excon. They hugged so tightly that neither of them could breathe.
“I missed you too,” he said sadly.
The silence of the family and the loving hug between the two guys gets cut off by a distressed Trevor. “Can someone explain what the fuck is going on? And who the fuck are you?”
“Who’s this? Boyfriend?” Mickey snickers. Ian just shrugs as a response. “Can I hit him?”
“No!” Everyone yells simultaneously.
Mickey rolls his eyes. “Fine.” He chucks the finger. “Fuck you,” he says to Trevor instead of hitting him. It was the better alternative, but Trevor still scowls.
“Umm, Trev,” Lip starts. “Remember when Ian wouldn’t get out of bed for all those weeks?”
“What the fuck? No one fucking told me he went mani–” Mickey gets cut off.
“Shut the fuck up, let me explain this,” Lip gives Mickey a glare, so he nods.
“Of course I remember,” Trevor says seriously.
Lip sighs. “Remember how he kept calling out for someone named Mickey?” Trevor nods and worry began to fill his eyes. “Well, this is him.” The memory of Ian saying that his ex-boyfriend was in prison quickly came back to Trevor’s mind.
“Why the fuck are you back?” Trevor steps closer and tries to be intimidating. Unfortunately, Mickey was the most threatening man on the Southside so it didn’t work out too well.
“Got released. Good behavior, got my GED.” He started. “Also, Mandy pulled some favors, don’t ask me how because I have no clue. I don’t even know where the fuck she is.”
Ian stepped forward again in surprise. “You got your GED?”
Mickey nodded bashfully.
“Mick! That’s amazing!” Ian shrieks proudly.
To disrupt the happiness, Trevor moves between Ian and Mickey. “Go back to where you came from, asshole,” he says meanly. “Ian and I are together now. You’re the one who fucked up.”
“Stop,” Ian said and moved Trevor out of the way. “I’m sorry, Trev–”
“Why the fuck are you sticking up for him? Didn’t he try to kill your sister?”
“Half,” Mickey corrects him.
“Because we take care of each other,” he looked at Mickey in a way that brought them both back to their last time together. “In sickness and in health, good times and bad times,” he smiled as he summarized the words that Mickey said to him three years ago.
Fiona suddenly jerked up. “What the fuck, are you getting married?” She shrieked.
“We’ve always been ghetto married,” Ian snorts.
Mickey shrugs. “I’m down for it if you are.”
Ian nods with a smirk. “We’re getting married,” he informs everyone as if they haven’t been there listening.
V starts to smile. “I love weddings!”
“What the hell?” Trevor shouts. “We’ve been together for two years, Ian! You’re throwing it away for some dirty scum like this?”
“I love him. I’ve been in love with him for about ten years.”
“Well I love you,” Trevor says desperately.
“I’m sorry, Trevor. I didn’t want you to get so connected. I’ve never loved anyone besides him.”
Mickey smirks at Ian’s words, though he kind of feels bad for the other guy. “Sorry, man,” he says genuinely.
“Don’t you need time to work shit out before you get fucking hitched? I mean seriously you haven’t seen each other in how many years?” Trevor’s fury is noticeable, but Ian shakes his head. “You know what, fine. Fuck you,” he says and slams the door.
Kev looks at everyone’s faces before speaking. “Well I wasn’t expecting this to happen today.”
“Neither were any of us,” Ian snorts. “I’m glad it did though,” he grins.
“So are we,” Debbie says. Everyone nods in agreement.
Ian kisses Mickey’s head. “This is it, we’re finally going to be together,” he says happily.
Elsewhere it has been shown that prisons provide no real safety for society and no real reform of criminals. Most people realize this, at least insofar as they agree that crime is generally caused by social factors and in the long run can be dealt with only by changes in the social and economic spheres. Why the logical next step of abolishing the prison system is not made seems to be because, as with other aspects of our society, it is easier to fall back on a distant and impersonal system that already exists than to try to create new alternatives.
Gunnar Knutson | An Ex-Prisoner, “Behind Bars” (1970)
The doctor called it
agoraphobia. I call it a rational reaction after being stalked for
two years by an ex boyfriend. The moment he was finally jailed, I
picked up everything and got out of there. Mom said I could move in
with her, but I didn’t want her to see what I’d become.
The new apartment
was across the state, cheap, and had plenty of delivery services.
Once I entered that building, I resolved the closest I’d get to
leaving it was to get the mail every other day. I worked from home,
freelance writing. Unpredictable, at best, but I’d managed to get
it to work for me.
A/N: Here is the Epilogue! I’m suspecting this series to be a pretty decent length. I can’t be sure how many chapters though. I really hope you all love it! There are going to be characters I’ve created. I went for a female reader, I couldn’t think of a way to write it gender-neutral. I’ll make a guide of my characters to help with who’s who.
Prologue: My Characters:
Alastor - Father
Phillis aka Philly - Mother
All of this started years ago. Since the beginning of the Galra Empire’s take over. Since your race was lost except for a few. Those few hid and kept their abilities suppressed. That race was the Draconians. Worshipers and Companions of the Dragons.
When the race was wiped out, so were their Dragon companions. It was a symbiotic relationship. Neither could live without the other. The dragons provided the Draconians with powerful abilities and in return the Draconians offered protection and a home.
They were the second most threat to the Galra, the first being the Altean’s Voltron. But being a threat, they were the first to be targeted.
The planet Draco was left in ruins. It’s people savagely murdered except for a certain few. Those few had to keep the race alive. Becoming refugees to many foreign planets. There they hid for thousands of years, keeping their blood alive. Though now very few had pure Draconian blood.
The abilities they once had from their dragons began to deteriorate. Without the dragons they were powerless and weak. Dragons were believed to be extinct. Gone forever, there link to the Draconians severed.
That was until the birth of your father, Alastor. The final person to be of pure Draconian blood. Upon his birth a Dragon, but a babe, was found. It’s connection was to your father. It was named Tiamat, meaning ‘mother of life.’
After his birth, the Galra learned of the Draconians still thriving. They sought out every one with a drop of that blood and put an end to them. Your father and Tiamat escaped. Becoming refugees like your ancestors.
As he aged many other refugees of different races escaped from the Galra. From there they created a secret refuge for ex-Galra prisoners. A safe haven.
It was on a discarded planet the Galra had already killed. With the help of Tiamat and Alastor’s powers and their careful touch to the land, it soon began to live again. It became a safe place and grew in number as Galra prisoners escaped or were saved by the army the refugees created.
Of those prisoners was one earthling. A woman, with spectacular abilities. Something never known for an earthling to have. She could create light, sparking weapons and objects out of nothing. She simply called it mystic arts, something a person called ‘the elder’ taught her.
She went by the name Philly even though her true name was Phillis. Your father fell in love with her at first sight. And they soon had a mutual feeling of love. They were the leaders of the refuge, heads of the council.
They were respectful leaders. And eventually they became spectacular parents. They gave home to a beautiful daughter of whom they named [F/n], an earth name your mother always loved.
You inherited your mothers abilities and despite being only half Draconian a dragon named Ryuu was linked to you as well, meaning you also had your fathers abilities.
Many refugees looked to you as some sort of savior because of the immense power but that ideal was soon forgotten as you grew up. But in their eyes you were still phenomenal.
You were pretty cocky in your abilities and did not think much of the Galra threat. That was until your first rescue mission. It was with your mother who alongside your father was the leader of the haven’s military.
You soon learned the cruelness of the Galra. The mission went south and the Galra witch Haggar had gotten a hold of you. She was unaware of your Draconian powers and only knew of the ones you had inherited from your mother. She wouldn’t know of your Draconian decent because you kept your Draconian features suppressed.
In old times Draconians were proud of the scales that often decorated the skin around their eyes and trailed down their arms, neck, and spine. Along with the way their eyes would resemble the dragons they once befriended. But when those became a sign of Draconian they were suppressed to avoid detection.
If Haggar knew of your joint abilities she would sure have not traded you for your more developed mother. Your mother gave up her freedom and life for you. You returned to the escape pod with the other soldiers and refugees as your mother was kept.
You had to drift in space for what would be days on your planet so the Galra couldn’t follow you back to the refuge planet.
When you returned without your mother, your father stayed strong around the refugees but still grieves to this day.
You promised yourself that day that you would grow and become powerful with Ryuu. Then one day kill the witch that killed your mother.
Now, you’ve taken her place as head of the haven’s military and mastered the powers from both parents. Not only that you built yourself mentally. You wore an invisible armor that could only be pierced by a few.
You’re unbreakable inside and out.
So, here you stood. About to lead your small rescue and reconnaissance team onto a Galra ship to save prisoners and some of your own refugees.
About to lead them in, the same way your mother once lead you.
Taking a deep breath once you were in position.
“All right. Lets move”
A/N: I’m sorry there was no Shiro in here yet! I needed to establish some background though. Chapter 1 will go up later tonight or tomorrow depending on how fast I can get some requests done. I hope you all liked the epilogue!

Home, sweet Home- Daryl had been injured on a run and he’s not too happy with not being

shower you are finally able to propitiate him.
It was something he heard from every guard and scientist in
the Southern Command lab—always the same breathless whisper, with a dry-throat
choke of fear and the shaky tremor of disbelief: Monster.
They’d whisper it, and swallow, and then run. That part was
always nice. Humans weren’t a fair fight.
“—yeah, yeah, monster,
you’re not the first genius to reach that conclusion pal.” Greed cracked
his neck, rolling his shoulders where his shield melded with the flesh near his
collar bone. “Words hurt sometimes.”
Dorochet swung in from the left, katana in hand. The guard
hadn’t budged since Greed spoke, and his frozen gun sliced easily in two, along
with a cut of his scraggly gray beard. This jolted the man into action. He let
out a high-pitched whine, then tripped on his own feet as he spun and bolted
down the hall.
“But still, I guess monster
is better than homunculus. Less chance of Pops finding me here.”
Dorochet didn’t answer. He turned, breathing heavy, and
watched. Greed rubbed at his neck.
“You know you’re a real stick in the mud today, Dorochet.
Usually you laugh at my jokes.”
“She’s close,” Dorochet answered. He stuck his nose in the
air, grimaced, and twisted on his heels to the left hall. His sword slipped
back into its scabbard.
Greed followed. He surveyed the walls with muted curiosity. Harsh
fluorescence beat down from overhead. Small strips of lighting lined the bottom
edges of the hall. It was sterile, and white, and buzzed distantly, and
seemingly hadn’t changed from the day he busted in to free his own chimera
“I’ll bet you’ve got some pleasant memories of this place,”
Greed mused. They turned another corner. Empty—not so much as a painting worth
snagging off the wall.
“Oh yeah, the best,” Dorochet bit back. His lip twitched
over his teeth, the hair along his neck bristling. “The antiseptic smell is
