someone in your class mentions communism. they speak about it at length. you are in biology class.
you text your mother. she does not respond for 3 days. you text her again and then realize that it has only been 2 hours since your first text.
freshmen travel in packs. what are they afraid of.
your class is in room 153. the numbers start at 201. you cannot find the first floor.
someone is talking about communism. it is not the same person as last time. this is an english class.
your transcript says you have an A in philosophy 3310. you do not remember taking this class. what did you learn? what did you do?
you meet your elevator buddy. you do not speak. you never do. you ride in silence. one day, they are not there. you miss them.
your advisor refers you to the registrar. the registrar refers you to admissions. admissions refers you to both the registrar and your advisor. you have spoken to two people who do not exist and one who has been dead for ten years.
the boy who sits next to you wears the same clothes everyday. you think this is strange but when you mention it, he tells you that this is the first time he has worn this outfit. you realize that you have lived this day before.
you pass someone sleeping in the quad. he has always been there. stop looking at him.
someone answers, “communism.” it is not someone who has been previously mentioned. the question was, “what is an example of the art of ancient greece?”
you have a doppelganger on campus. you have never met them. they know all of your friends.
the seniors speak only to professors. their eyes are dead. they have given up the safety of the pack long ago.
the professor is talking about STD’s. your math class is very strange.
the powerpoint is in comic sans. you suspect that your economics professor is an extraterrestrial being after all.
“communism,” the man serving you lunch insists. wearily you nod. that’s what everyone says.
Okay, first off. I’m sorry. Everybody was in the heat of the moment and reacted terribly with the new update. I was a big part in that and I feel bad about it. But there are some new things going on with the update that they have fixed/explained to us.
#1 : Replied to my email about the issue.
(Image - Tumblr Trust and Safety replying with this:
We appreciate you writing in about this. We’ve heard from a
bunch of users that Safe Mode was filtering posts from the LGBTQ+
community even though they were completely innocuous and totally
safe-for-work. Please know that was never our intention, and we
appreciate you letting us know so quickly—and forcefully! We’re deeply
sorry. Tumblr will always be a place where everyone is welcome and
protected, so we want to explain what happened.
The major issue
was some Tumblrs had marked themselves as Adult/NSFW (now Explicit) as a
courtesy to their fellow users, and their perfectly safe posts were
getting marked sensitive unintentionally. That should never have
happened. We’re sorry.
First off, I’d like to thank them for answering so quickly and responsibly. They fully explained the issue to me in a very adult manor and I very much appreciate that.
Second, they actually gave me a explanation for the issue unlike most staff/helpers online. Which i again, very much appreciate.
#2: They are trying to fix the issue as quickly as they can without 100% removing the feature.
This, to me, is very understandable. the update on staff’s official blog is this:

We’re making some changes that should improve things:
Changes to self-marked blogs
What was happening: Because we consider Explicit blogs to be predominantly sensitive content, we were automatically marking all their posts as sensitive. That was too broad.
What we fixed: Now each post is classified individually. As they should be.
Changes to reblog chains
What was happening: If an Explicit Tumblr reblogged a safe post, we were marking that reblog as sensitive. This was even happening to text posts. Which is silly.
What we fixed: We changed the logic so that if the OP is safe, all its reblogs will also be safe.
Changes to photosets
What’s (still) happening:
When you make a photo post, a computer algorithm classifies the image
as safe or sensitive. It’s a machine so it’s not perfect. And the
chances go up with photosets because there are multiple images. But out
of an abundance of caution we keep posts marked sensitive until the OP
requests a human review (by tapping the appeal button on their posts).
What we’re working on:
We plan to have photosets analyzed as a whole group, rather than as
individual images. That should reduce the number of mistakes the machine
Safe Mode is supposed to make sure people aren’t
surprised by things may not want to see—specifically, nudity. It might
take some time to get it perfect, but we’re committed to getting there
with your help. Our algorithms will keep getting smarter as you give
feedback on misclassified posts, and as you share your concerns and
And finally, please stop attacking staff with this issue. They are trying to help us and do not want to hurt us. You are simply putting them under much more pressure and stress than helping. They are not trying to hurt us. Stop attacking them over this.
I will email them and contact them with further issues about this, thank you.
On March 24th, they added a new game, “Yuuri’s Hug Hug Competition.” Lined up super early before opening so I could take a shot before prizes ran out. As u can sorta see from the last photo (taken from Namjatown’s official twitter, all other photos are my own), the game goes like this: You can buy up to 5 tries every time you go up (which is not often; you gotta get a ticket that tells you what time to come back, usually several hours later there were so many people). For each try, the nice ladies will give you a lil ball which you can place anywhere on the ramp to the right. You let go of the ball, it swings onto the slope and bounces off the lil stoppers and falls into one of the slots at the bottom, each of which has a character (the person Yuuri “hugs”) and a letter A-D. There’s only one A (Victor), and increasingly more of the lower prizes (most D), which obviously means you have to be incredibly lucky to get A and most people get a lot of the other letters. A prize is a tote bag, B prize is a charm, C prize is a button, and D prize is a random sticker (all others you can choose your character, which is why some characters ran out faster than others). It’s supposed to be mostly luck bc of the knockers and the fact you have to place the ball on the ramp so you can’t really tell it to go anywhere….
….but apparently I had amazing freakin luck or there is some skill involved bc
I got A prize twice in 8 tries ^v^)b So top tote is Yuuri + Vic + Chris (was out of stock later in the day), bottom tote has Phichit + Yurio + Otabek. All in all, a very successful day <3
It's such a gross double standard that same sex ships are the ones seen as mental and delusional. No one calls hendall shippers mental. No one cares that people still ship him with Taylor even years after it ended. No one even cares that fans ship Harry with themselves (which is awkward and weird as fuck)
“No one calls hendall shippers mental. No one cares that people still ship him with Taylor even years after it ended.”
