everything in life is a circle

In 1995, OSA archaeologists uncovered a piece of circle-stamped pottery at a site in Dubuque County. The ceramic sherd was radiocarbon-dated to 128 BC. The circle decoration is found on prehistoric ceramics throughout the river valleys of the upper Midwest. Circle symbolism is widespread in Native American culture across North America.

Black Elk (1930) said, “You have noticed everything an Indian does is in a circle, and that is because the power of the world always works in circles, and everything tries to be round… The sky is round, and I have heard the earth is round like a ball and so are all the stars… The sun comes forth and goes down again in a circle. The moon does the same, and both are round. Even the seasons form a great circle in their changing, and always come back again to where they were. The life of a man is a circle from childhood to childhood, and so it is in everything where power moves.”

the fact that Rory Gilmore is not a journalist kills me

the fact that she ended up the same way like her mother kills me

the fact that she’s pregnant without a job kills me

the fact that she has given up her dreams kills me

the fact that she’s not working with Logan like a Power Couple kills me

that fact that Rory Gilmore might end up living in Stars Hollow without telling Logan about their baby kills me

the fact that this whole revival implies that a 30 year old Logan would do the same choices as a 16 year old Christopher kills me

the fact that in life everything comes full circle, so Like Mother Like Daughter is the most terrible bullshit i’ve ever heard.

Rory Gilmore was destined to do a lot more.

“When I look inside and see that I’m nothing, that’s wisdom. When I look outside and see that I’m everything, that’s love. And between these two, my life turns.”

Don’t Speak // Spencer Reid x Reader

Spencer knew something was wrong. He’d watched as you slowly retreated into yourself in such a complex manner that others wouldn’t know there was something wrong if they didn’t actively search for the signs. But he knew. He saw past your smiles, past the way you still laughed at whatever silly banter Penelope and Morgan exchanged. Past your routine greetings of hugs and kisses, past the way you still tried to crack jokes to fulfill your ultimate life goal of making Hotch laugh.

He noticed the dark circles beneath your eyes that you expertly hid beneath makeup. He noticed the split second longer that it took you to react to someone’s conversation, to their jokes. He noticed the way your hair was pulled back slightly less refined than usual, something others would look over as just another day of you rushing to work that morning.

But you were his. You were everything he’d ever dreamt of and because of that even the smallest change did not go unnoticed. He noticed the desperation in your kisses, the longing behind your soft lips as you tried to find love. You always did find it behind his touch and this only made you cling to his hands a little tighter as you both walked through the aisles of stores, your gaze showing your mind was elsewhere.

What the hell did you do back there? Oh, you know…saved the world.

It's Quiet Uptown
  • Lin: what is the absolute most evil thing I could do right now
  • Lin: I could twist the words from Hamilton's speech to his son right after his birth, reminding he audience that Philip was born during a time of victory and joy and juxtaposing that with the current tragic stage of Hamilton's, in which he has lost everything meaningful to him (his career, his marriage, his son, his legacy) as a direct result of his ambition and hubris, therefore giving the words a heartbreaking new meaning while also bringing Philip's life full circle in the saddest possible way
  • Lin: but that would be like super mean

Thin Ice. (Jerome Valeska x Reader)

Warnings ⚠️: domestic violence, swearing

A/N: This was a request by an anon. I hope this is what you had in mind. ❤️ sadistic Jerome in the beginning and fluffy Jerome at the end.

Prompt: “Heeey! Can you do an imagine/one-shot where Jerome accidentally scares reader by lashing out on her but then he tries to make things up?”

You were scared, but you knew what you were getting yourself into when you agreed to be Jerome’s girlfriend. You weren’t sure exactly what had happened because everything was going so fast but you do know Jerome was going absolutely insane. His neat ginger hair was disheveled from his hands pulling on the life of it moments before, he had dark circles around his eyes and his pretty blue orbs were now black, filled with anger and hate.

You took a deep breath trying to calm yourself from the site. “Jerome? Baby, calm down… I’m sure whatever happened wasn’t that serious.”
Jerome’s head snapped up and locked eyes with you. He groaned and slammed his fists against the table, making you and the China jump. His scowl turned into a sadistic smile. This wasn’t your Jerome, at least you don’t think it was. I mean, yes he has had his moments but this was not him.

Jerome slowly lifted himself from the table and made his way over to you menacingly. Your arms wrapped around your body and diverted your eyes to the ground, a sign that you were uncomfortable. If there’s anything that Jerome knew, it was you and your body.

“Oh, doll… you’re scared.” His voice was dangerously calm. He brought his hand up to you face and lifted your chin with his pointer finger. You reluctantly made eye contact and instantly regretted it. As soon as you did Jerome harshly pinned you against the nearest wall, his large hands soon found your throat slowly choking the life out of you.

“Are you, cupcake? Are you scared of little ole’ Romey?” His words came out harsh but he had that smile on his face. Jerome became fascinated by your pouty lips and how they tried to struggle for air. It was like everything in the world was frozen except your heartbeat, which was beating exceptionally fast. Your dainty hands quickly started to claw at his but it was no use so you found the strength to plea.

“Jay…please, you’re..hurting me..” You struggled to get out. Your vision started to fade and as if a switch turn on he stopped. Your body collapsed on the floor and you struggled to gain oxygen. It all hit you at once like a freight train and you just started bawling your eyes out. This was the man you fell for? A monster? The thoughts of him doing worse ran through your mind and it terrified you. You had to leave as soon as possible.

After what felt like hours of crying on the floor, you found the strength to get up and pack your things. In the middle of packing a voice startled you.

“What are you doing?” At the doorway was Jerome with the most concerned look on his face. He had a big bouquet of flowers and a large box of chocolates.
“I’m leaving, Jerome.” You said expressionless and cold.
“No..no.. You can’t leave me!” Jerome’s voice cracked as he pleaded. You continued to pack your belongings trying ti to not be fazed by your boyfriend’s crying. Honestly it broke your heart but what he did to you was unforgivable. You threw your bag over your shoulder and brushed past Jerome headed towards the door.

“Doll, please! I’m nothing without you. I’m sorry, forgive me!” He grabbed your hand making you turn to face him. “Please..”
His eyes weren’t the ones they were before. They seemed genuine. You furrowed your eyebrows and shook your head.
“Jerome you hurt me. In a way I won’t ever forget. And you expect me to forgive you just like that? I knew you were insane but I didn’t think you were stupid.”
“One more chance, please. I can’t do this without you.” Jerome’s hands traveled to your cheeks and stroked them softly. You instantly melted in his hands. “Please? You’re so pretty..” Jerome leaned down and pressed his lips ever so gently onto yours and kissed you delicately.

“I’m so sorry.” He said resting his forehead on yours.
“You’re walking on thin ice, Jay. Now shut the fuck up and kiss me.”

I forgot Bishop Eddie Long was alive tbh, but to hear he died from cancer is not surprising bc life comes full circle. And he deserves everything he got. I can’t and I won’t mourn the death of someone like that.

The thing is… Rory ending up in a similar situation to Lorelai and going through the same things isn’t a good story. What would be better storytelling is having Rory start in a similar situation to Lorelai (unexpectedly pregnant, alone etc.), but then getting everything Lorelai chose not to have - telling Logan and being with him, not doing it all by herself, basically choosing the life Lorelai chose to walk away from.

Because then, not only is there something new plotwise wrt to Rory, instead of hitting all the same plot-points, but there’s plot for Lorelai too, with her dealing with the idea that maybe Rory wanted what she gave up and that just because it was the life Lorelai wanted, doesn’t mean her daughter has to make the same choices.

little things about avpd that i don’t talk about often:

  • since you’re afraid of people disliking you you apologize constantly, for everything and anything, even when it’s not needed
  • you read any negative interaction (even minor ones) with someone as though they hate you afterwards, even if they don’t
  • never being comfortable interacting with people you don’t know well so you have a very limited circle of friends
  • when you act any sort of outgoing or deviate from how you normally act you become so worried you embarrassed yourself / made the other person hate you
  • feeling shitty because you feel weird about making first moves or saying ‘i love you’ first to your partner
  • being unable to open up to anyone about your personal life and when you do it feels unnatural and weird
  • feeling isolated and like you’re in a fishbowl all the time

Okay so here’s my theory

Lorelei got pregnant by a rich and immature boy. She left that boy and raised Rory on her own in a different town away from that boy.

She had support from Luke who went to birthday parties and graduations and thought of Rory as his own. He was there for Lorelei and Rory because he truly cared. Even though he was a grumpy grumpy man he had two girls in his heart and did everything for them like bring ice or chase around a living room trying to find a chick.

Rory now got pregnant by a rich, and although grown, immature boy, she will now raise a baby on her own. She will raise her baby in a different town away from that boy also.

Rory has support from Jess. He’s the one who told her to write the book and told her shes still a contender. He wanted the best for Rory. He left when Rory didn’t need him and seemingly he visited her life once she longed for advice through a confusing time, such as her decision to leave Yale and then go back.

So here’s my theory finally.

Just like her mom, Rory will raise the baby as a single mother, but with the support of Jess. Just like his uncle did with Lorelei. Then once the child is grown and doesn’t need her as much, she will find out that this guy who had been there from the start, and had never really left , was the guy she belongs with. Of course there would be ups-and-downs because the Gilmore Girls never have an easy life. But they are very lucky to have two men in their life who support them. As said in the revival, “it’s a full circle of life,” and “like mother, like daughter.”

i just feel so weird about the idea that after EVERYTHING, rory also winds up with an unexpected pregnancy without a partner. i feel like it’s less “full circle” and more the super cruel fulfillment of all the characters’ worst nightmares. like, my first thought was “aw, i wish richard could be alive to meet this baby,” and my second thought was, “oh god, would this knowledge actually destroy richard (had he been around to hear it) and emily??”

i wish the final four words could have been spoken in a context of rory being in a stable relationship and moving into the next stage of her life. maybe that’s too boring and schmoopy or whatever, but i like the idea of her going in a different direction from lorelai because i feel like THAT was always where the series was destined to go.

Oh I totally agree. From the pilot I always saw how different Lorelai and Rory were (it was a huge theme of the show!) and this ending just feels so foreign to all of that?

11. He Loves Magic (20 Reasons Why We All Love Eddie Redmayne)

When we say that Eddie Redmayne loves magic, it is not just a simple “oh that’s because he’s in a Harry Potter  movie” thing. No, Eddie loves magic. Graham Norton discovered this and it ended up being one of the cutest things to ever happen on television.

Apparently a childhood dream of Eddie’s was to be a part of the Magic Circle. He loved watching Paul Daniels as a kid and he wanted to be a magician like him. So Graham gave him his wish and let him perform magic with a coloring book with Bryan Cranston and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Eddie was giddy and having the time of his life as he sat and demonstrated his magical abilities. It was an easy trick but seeing how absolutely ecstatic it made him changed everything. He was so happy to be doing magic on television and he kept expressing how excited he was.

It is just so refreshing listening to him get giddy about things. He is so genuine and happy about getting to do everything he’s doing and to see something like this warms your heart. He just wanted to do magic as a kid and then he grew up to play a wizard. That is something amazing right there!

It is fascinating how every single Christmas Special Steven Moffat has ever written is thematically tied to grief, all the way back from A Christmas Carol to this year’s The Return of Doctor Mystero.

A Christmas Carol first introduces the sentiment which will come full circle later when exploring the loss that is looming over Kazran’s and Abigail’s romance. “Everything has got to end some time, otherwise nothing would ever get started”. Iin The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe, the  Doctor re-enters Madge’s life after husband’s supposed death and gives us the line “the answer is, of course, because they are going to be sad later”. Only a year later, we meet a Doctor who is grieving himself in The Snowmen, an episode in which the world is saved by a family crying on Christmas Day.

Regeneration is a time of change and also of loss and the Time of Doctor, too, addresses these theme, as this Doctorsays his goodbye and Clara stares at a new face. In Last Christmas Clara is still coping with Danny’s death: “Do you know why people get together at Christmas? Because every time they do, it might be the last time.” And it is the last time for River and the Doctor in The Husbands of River Song. He escapes in a superhero adventure to soothe his grief, a gentler story set in a gentler world, although one still filled with reminders of who he lost.

It is a time of second chances, too. Madge saves her husband in one impossible feat and while the Doctor has to watch Clara die, he realises he can find her again. Clara’s heartfelt plea leads to the time lords granting the Doctor a new regeneration cycle. The Twelfth Doctor and Clara go on, to new adventures. But even when miracles are not possible, joy and hope prevail. Abigail’s final day is filled with laughter and a sleigh ride above the clouds. And the Doctor turns to new beginnings. “Everything ends. And it’s always sad. But everything begins again too, and that’s always happy.”

Christmas and grief, in this era of Doctor Who they share one space. Magic can only exist in the presence of loss. Maybe it only becomes real, there. Where it is needed so much.

anonymous asked:

do you know any good pride and prejudice fanfiction where elizabeth and darcy have to get married before they love each other? (i have already read 'happenstance', 'a most convenient mishap' and 'when duty calls') i love your blog very much by the way! x

I sense someone’s in the mood for some angst! And I’m more than happy to help you with that!

Claims of Duty: A chance meeting in Ramsgate changes everything for Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy.

Being Mrs Darcy: Being Mrs Darcy is a Regency, forced marriage scenario and is rated for mature audiences only and the angst-o-meter is set to high. Remember what Darcy is like in canon pre-Hunsford? I took him at his words to Elizabeth in Chapter 58: “I have been a selfish being all my life (…). [My parents] allowed, encouraged, almost taught me to be selfish and overbearing; to care for none beyond my own family circle; to think meanly of all the rest of the world; to wish at least to think meanly of their sense and worth compared with my own.” How, then, would he feel if he had a wife thrust upon him – a woman he did not know and whose circumstances in life were very much beneath his own? How will Elizabeth react to being forced to marry a man she doesn’t know and who very clearly does not think highly of her or her family?

A Christmas Tale: Forced into marriage because of a compromising situation at the Netherfield Ball, Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy must learn to live together in order to enjoy their first Christmas together.

A Covenant of Marriage: This is a historically accurate Forced Marriage Scenario (FMS), implying all the consequences of forced marriage for a woman of the time period.

Great Misfortunes: What if Elizabeth had never had the chance to refuse Darcy’s proposal? His proposal is interrupted and Darcy takes her acceptance for granted.

Their Share of Vexations: A chance encounter between two strangers - and the interference of a man with little scruples - leads to a marriage that neither Elizabeth Bennet or Fitzwilliam Darcy would have anticipated. But an even greater risk may face those dear to them, causing them to bond in the face of adversity.

Blame It on the Tea: The evening after Colonel Fitzwilliam inadvertently informs Elizabeth Bennet about his cousin’s part in separating Bingley from Jane, Elizabeth takes a drought for her headache and wakes up the next morning unable to recall what happened the night before.
