everyone wants a piece of obi wan

1) I’m so glad this material holds to the notion that Obi-wan Kenobi should be presented as dual-wielding as often as possible, as it is a thing of momentous beauty and badassery.

2) Inquiring minds want to know the answer to many of these questions, including, Who is looking for Obi-wan Kenobi?

(Possible answers: well, everyone at some point or another. I mean right now in Rebels lore, it’s Maul and Ezra. But the list really goes on and on. Let us not forget that during the Clone Wars alone, Obes had every single Sith/Darksider/Separatist leader gunning directly for him at some point, many to the point of unhealthy obsession. VentressGrievousMaulDooku, ahem. )

One of the very best things about STAR WARS fandom is that there’s so much variety here that I never seem to get bored, that there’s always something for almost everyone to pick up and read! Whether I want to read about the Jedi or the clones or the Empire being fought back against or character pieces on the space twins or continue my love for the Solo characters or continue to cry about the Rebels crew or to capitalize on the potential of the still-unfolding sequels, Star Wars fandom is going to give me something and it’s going to be fantastic.

This list of recs will hopefully give you something to read, whether you want massive time travel (maybe) fix it or delicious more character-focused stuff or just some straight up kissing fic or something that will give you feelings or whatever, there should be at least one thing you’ll like! Because Star Wars fandom is excellent for spreading that love around!

I love the artwork of Joyciedraws entittled "Ben and Satine". You should see it!!! I love how Obi-wan looks like a monk trying not to be seduced by Satine in her dress as they hug. He has his eyes closed in the artwork, as though he is trying not to 'go there' with his thoughts, trying to not notice the long V-line of the back of her dress, lol! That is a perfect art piece for my thoughts on their relationship when they got older! Thoughts?

Hello, anon!!!! I have seen this piece and it is truly stunning! Here it is for those of you wondering:

Now, I want everyone to visit art by joycie and give her and her art some love! She’s incredibly talented. Her art is GORGEOUS!!!!!

In ‘Ben and Satine’… the way Obi-Wan’s brows are pulled together looks like he’s experiencing a mixture of pain and pleasure. This piece almost looks like a reunion, as though they had not seen each other for a long time. Obi-Wan has just arrived and maybe this is the first moment they’re allowed to be alone together. You can see his right arm is tucked under Satine’s and is wrapping around her back… but that isn’t inside the frame.

This is such a lovely piece of art. There is something mutual about the intensity of their emotions. They may not be feeling the exact same thing but they are certainly both experiencing strong reactions.

(Why isn’t this possible in real life????)

I also love the color palette. The warmth and cloistered auburn, intimate and regal mauve. It’s all very natural and comforting.

OK, enough out of me.

Thank you for the fun ask!! You know me too well!  ;-)  I’m a sucker for Obitine!

anonymous asked:

Are you still taking (obikin) prompts? If so: Obi-Wan has been in love with Anakin for a while, but decided to somehow... suppress his feelings with the Force for the greater good. But then, the war ends. The chancellor is dead and the evil is stopped, so Obi-Wan decides to stop suppressing his feelings. But, because all of his feelings appear at once, it's a bit too much and Obi-Wan ends up blushing, mumbling and sighing and acting completely lovesick. Anakin happens to enjoy it very much.

Kriff The Clone Wars. Kriff everything about them. The desolation that arose. The mounting death toll. So many lives lost, innocent lives, lives that had so much left to give to the Galaxy taken away. Their light simply puffed out, taken, stolen. Stolen by a group of insurgents hell-bent on taking over the Galaxy for their own purposes. Jedi dispersed to all corners of the Galaxy- every nook and cranny- no stone left unturned by the peace keepers. The Knights doing their best to keep the wave of attacks by the Separatists at bay. All of this Obi-Wan expected. It was war, all of this was to be expected; however, it didn’t make it any less devastating. It was his duty to fight for the inhabitants of the Galaxy, yet Obi-Wan found another aspect of the war far more disheartening.

Obi-Wan didn’t work alone. The Council sought to appease the vexed minds of the star systems by pairing him with his Padawan, Anakin Skywalker. It was the best choice, as they had become quite the pair. The Negotiator and The Hero With No Fear were highly sought after. Their reputation had spread rapidly, known to anyone, whether in the Republic or CIS. The only problem was that Obi-Wan was hopelessly in love with Anakin. He’d known it for a while, and the revelation had come as quite the shock. He’d gone lightheaded, knocked things over, caused quite the scene if he was being honest. He’d have thought he was going insane if it weren’t for Anakin coming to check on him, oh so concerned, his eyebrows knitted together, eyes intense-pure blue eyes- needless to say, Obi-Wan’s feelings were confirmed. Obi-Wan brushed it off as simply a dizzy spell, exhaustion, the whole drained from battle bit, and Anakin had reluctantly believed it. The older man watched his pupil walk away, his long legs taking strides towards the tent entrance, his taut muscles strangled underneath the confines of the tunic. He watched helplessly as Anakin reached up and parted the cloth to pass through, his curls catching the light just perfectly, a golden halo smothering his honey locks. Obi-Wan had to lick his lips then, and his gaze drifted towards the ground, doing his best to avoid the distraction that was Anakin.

Anakin was his weakness. The boy he’d practically raised, grown to care for, to love. He couldn’t have a weakness, he was expected to be strong, to be fearless. He lost himself in meditation, looking for any answers the Force would give him regarding his problem. It wasn’t easy, he felt some resistance from the Force, but Obi-Wan persevered, and found his solution. He focused on his feelings for his pupil, and visualized himself siphoning them off into an isolated pocked. Slowly, he felt his feelings towards Anakin slip away, felt them dull, until there was no more than a slight hum. Obi-Wan wanted to feel sad, but he wasn’t allowed to anymore.

A year or so passed before the war ended. The manner in which it did so surprised everyone, especially the Jedi, but more Master Yoda. They’d had the Sith under their noses the whole time, and they hadn’t seen it. The Jedi had been deceived by Palpatine for nearly decade, and Anakin had been manipulated for just as long. It was a stroke of good fortune they’d figured it out really. The Chancellor had slipped when in a conversation with Anakin, and he’d pieced the whole plot together. He’d gone back to the Temple and they’d gone to apprehend the man. Fighting broke out and the Chancellor ended up dead, a traitor to the Republic.

After all of this, Obi-Wan watched. Just watched. He watched as Anakin tended to all the wounded patients in the medical wing of the Temple. So caring and affectionate with each sentient. Obi-Wan smiled fondly. Well, I suppose the war is over..he thought to himself. He stared at the man in front of him, the man who was now walking towards him, a slight grin on his face. Obi-Wan closed his eyes, and focused on reaching the pocket that was left untouched for nearly a year. All at once, his feelings rushed in, old memories accompanied by new ones. His eyes watered, tears threatening to spill. His cheeks reddened, he could feel the heat spread down his body, onto his collar bones and reaching his chest. Anakin was directly in front of him then, a smirk painted plainly on his face.

“An-Anakin.” Obi-Wan stammered, his eyes shooting to his shuffling feet.

Anakin came forward slightly, reaching out and clutching lightly at Obi-Wan’s elbow.

“Obi-Wan… are you, back? He whispered, emphasizing the last word.

“C’mon. You can’t take me for fool, can you? After that day in the tent, you’ve been different.”

Obi-Wan’s eyes shifted back to Anakin’s sea blue spheres. MISTAKE. The blush spread immediately, and Obi-Wan began to giggle.

“Oh, Obi-Wan.” Anakin purred, “You’re being so obvious. You know that right?”

Obi-Wan tried to get away, he could NOT be acting like this right now. Was he really giving himself away this quickly, after all his effort to hide his feelings?

“Well, I-I…I don’t know what to say. I…” Anakin reached up and cupped Obi-Wan’s chin.

“It’s ok, Obi-Wan. I feel the same way.”

Obi-Wan’s eyes went wide in shock. Unintelligent mumbling poured out of his mouth, only to be cut off by Anakin’s lips. Obi-Wan’s eyes shut and he leaned into the soft pliable lips now attached to his. Heaving in heavy breaths through his nose.

“Oh, Anakin.” He leaned his forehead against the younger mans.

Anakin smiled and laced their fingers together, finally able to be together.

I just have to rant for a second

i see a lot of people who defend Anakin on here and thats awesome because i too love that fuck up of a human being but theres always one thing that bothers me. When it comes to Palpatine, Padmé, and Obi-Wan the blame can be placed and is somewhat deserved. They are adults who made decisions as adults and even though its mostly Anakin’s fault because it was his choice, everyone mentioned prior and the entire jedi order can all take tiny slices of the blame cake. Palatine gets a big ass slice of course and the order does too more than likely. But you know who should never be included in the blame? Ahsoka.

I see it sometimes, people saying he needed her and she left when it was most crucial that she stayed by his side. Or that her leaving was the first part of his downfall and perhaps it was but none of that was her fault or her responsibility. Ahsoka was 14 when the clone wars began, when she became his padawan and she was around 16 when she left the order. 16. In no way, shape, or form is Anakin’s fall her fault because he was the adult in the situation and he failed her first. When she needed him to be her hero, he wasn’t there and then everything else happened so quickly. Ahsoka was cast out of the order and Obi-Wan and the council let her the fuck down after Anakin had let her the fuck down. Everyone let her down except Padmé. She was put on trial and almost executed and yes Anakin saved her but the trauma had already occurred and she was scarred and humiliated, no matter how much Anakin wanted to be her savior. To expect a 16 year old girl to stay behind and pick up the pieces of her father/older brother figure is ridiculous. Anakin can take a whopping piece of the blame cake in Ahsoka’s case but she can’t take any from his.

Leave my child alone, she was cast away at 16 and had to learn to fend for herself. You know who never had to that shit? Anakin.

Hey, I saw a sad but really revealing youtube video entitled "Star Wars - The Last Jedi: George Lucas Screwed Over by Disney" Please watch it and respond what you think about the direction Disney is going...without Lucas. I want you to be honest b/c I really enjoy your in-depth answers and your site!!! I just don't want Disney to do a standalone Obi-Wan film if they don't have the nostalgia and true meaning of the Force since the beginning. Thoughts?

I meant to only write a tiny little thing but it turned into a long-winded rant. Sorry 0_0 This is definitely more than you bargained for.

Hello Anon! This is a very interesting question…

However, it gets into sticky territory for me. I have no wish to foster negativity. There’s enough of that in the world without my help. So I’ll agree to talk about this, but only to a certain extent. I try to use my blog to talk about the Star Wars I love - mainly Obi-Wan and Luke - and I do my best to keep my gripes to a minimum. I don’t want anyone to feel alienated or excluded because we might have differing opinions. Everyone is welcome here.

I absolutely have opinions on Disney’s direction, but I’ve also learned to slow down and let all the pieces fall into place before I get too emotional. I’ve been nervous about everything released that wasn’t the original trilogy. Some stuff I’ve adored. Other stuff I think is truly terrible. Railing against Disney, in my humble opinion, is non productive (I’m certainly not saying that’s what you are doing, I’m only speaking in generalities). Personally, I think George Lucas has made some awful choices, as did Rian Johnson, but no matter what happens, the things I love are still precious to me.

So, as I voice a few ideas, please keep in mind that I love Star Wars with all my heart but I’m going to challenge you a bit and play devil’s advocate.

First of all, to lay some ground work, let me tell you that I majored in film analysis at university, I minored in journalism, I’m a writer, and I work in marketing. So I am actually a teeny bit qualified to have this discussion. Because of my background, I naturally approach Star Wars and the video you asked me to watch through many different lenses.

The original trilogy was beautiful (to me) because Luke Skywalker was the embodiment of what Joseph Campbell called the monomyth - a universal story that is repeated through time and space, existing in a nearly identical story arc within cultures that never had contact with each other. If you haven’t read The Hero With a Thousand Faces, I highly recommend you check it out (Luke Skywalker is actually on the cover of my edition :) and he’s gorgeous!).

That being said, I do not buy into the idea that Star Wars (and George Lucas for that matter) can do no wrong. There is a lot of shit in the Star Wars universe. But that doesn’t mean we can’t love it in spite of its imperfections.

As a film student and a storyteller, I find the original trilogy to be one of the great loves of my life. It’s not perfect, but I love it anyway. If you perform a film theory critical analysis of the three films, Empire Strikes Back is cinematically exceptional. There is a right and a wrong way to subconsciously communicate through cinematography and editing (it’s an actual language that you’re taught in film school), and of the OT, Empire is nearly perfect. Return of the Jedi? Honestly… not so much. This isn’t my opinion, it’s film theory. My opinion is that I LOVE Return of the Jedi!!

We owe a lot of technology to George Lucas. Without him we wouldn’t have non-linear editing (this is a HUGE DEAL in the film industry!!!! but it is also the reason we have YouTube and cameras in our phones), or certain sound technology, or certain animation pipelines and gimbals. These are things the general public doesn’t really know about, but I’m here to tell you these technologies are industry miracles.

OK, moving on. So George Lucas decided to do a prequel trilogy. In the video you asked me to watch, he talks about not losing the story by getting caught up in technology. What would you call the prequel trilogy if not exactly that? Not only did he use CG EVERYTHING in the PT (including adding and removing hair from Ewan McGregor’s beard - WTF?!?!?), but then he went back and altered the OT. Things have been added to the original trilogies that I will NEVER FORGIVE!!!!!! Oh my god, what did he do?!?!?!?!?! In the words of Anakin Skywalker / Dath Vader “Noooooooooooooo!”

I want to point out that at the end of the video you asked me to watch, they wrap everything up by splicing in the end of Return of the Jedi with the original Yub Yub or Yub Nub or whatever-the-hell-it-was-called song. I think it’s rather ironic because when Lucas recut the film in 1997 he replaced that song and added a bunch of CGI bullshit that A LOT of people still hate.

So I guess my circuitous point is, you can’t completely blame everything on Disney. George Lucas has alienated fans in the past. I’m a diehard fan but there is a lot of stuff he did that enraged me.

My fangirl side adores everything Star Wars. I can’t get enough of it. My intellectual, educated side has to admit there are glaring imperfections that actually undermine the credibility of the artists involved.

My bitter, marketing side feels like both Lucas and Disney have only ever really been focused on their bottom line. “How much money can we make off this gigantic, fanatic fanbase??” I hope in my heart that isn’t the truth, but considering all the content that comes out with the movies (books, comics, tote bags, underwear, pajamas, cook books) it’s hard not be cynical. Full disclosure, I own all of the things listed, including the cook book. BECAUSE I LOVE STAR WARS AND WILL BUY EVERYTHING I CAN!!

Sooooo, although I am not crazy about The Last Jedi, and am literally sick to my stomach about what they did to my beloved Luke, my journalism side reminds to me take EVERYTHING with a grain of salt and to ALWAYS CONSIDER THE SOURCE!!!!

Anon, I understand your concern about a Kenobi film, but there was never any guarantee that it would be perfect just because George Lucas wrote the script treatment. There is always hope that we will be pleasantly surprised.

And now I feel like I must list some things I love because I want to end on a positive note :)
