everyone needs more sam

Some small details in ch132
  • “Professor Hugues”

  • “Vicar Rathbone”

  • “Sam the shepherd”

  • “Fenian Cycle”

Sam the shepherd is most probably this old guy from ch63 and ch120

and his “grand-daughter” Rathbone mentioned in ch132 is probably this little girl from ch120 :)

(This month’s flashback happened 5-6 years ago, and this girl looks like 5-6yo, so she would definitely fit age-wise!)

you know that moment when everything is just a little bit “too much” and you suddenly start sobbing like there’s no tomorrow? right now is that moment for me and i absolutely hate it :’)

hey, I'd like to hear ur thoughts on sam and potential canon queer moments. please?

so let’s begin with demisexual sam because as far as i’m concerned that actually IS canon. for anyone who doesn’t know, a demisexual person is a person who does not experience sexual attraction unless they form a strong emotional connection with someone.” and that’s… that’s just canon. if anything, sam gets uncomfortable when strangers flirt with him, and even though he does have one night stands and hook ups, he always forms some kind of connection with the person before he shows any interest. even with madison, who he was definitely attracted to in the end, he didn’t seem to enjoy her advances at all in the beginning - not until they talked and formed a meaningful connection. the only time sam had random hook ups with people he really didn’t care about was when he was soulless, which, well, makes the whole thing even more obvious.

i’m glad we cleared that up

then, of course, there’s queer sam as in sam being attracted to more than one gender, which isn’t really canon bUT imo canon can be interpreted that way because he’s never once said that he’s straight. at the very least, it’s really easy to find things in canon that could indicate that sam’s bi/pan/not 100% exclusively attracted to women - even though i don’t think any of that was deliberate on the writers’ part, sadly. (although i’m pretty sure jared once said sam might have ~experimented~ in college so idk maybe they could see him being “open” but still see him as straight?? idk idk but anyway i doubt they ever thought of sam as anything but straight when it comes to a definite orientation)

anYWAY so yeah that’s the first thing - sam NEVER SAID HE’S STRAIGHT. never. not oNCE. and he’s not bothered when people assume he’s queer or joke about it. whenever someone assumed or joked about him and dean being together, he only ever said “we’re just brothers”, whereas dean was the one who said “we don’t swing that way” or whatever. when balthazar called cas his boyfriend, he didn’t acknowledge it. and so on.

that is really important bc uNLIKE DEAN, SAM’S SEXUALITY ACTUALLY ISN’T CANON. (AND I’M TRYING REALL HARD NOT TO MAKE THIS ABOUT DEAN’S POTENTIAL QUEERNESS BC WE ALL KNOW WHAT I THINK ABOUT THAT SO I’M JUST GONNA STOP MENTIONING IT NOW.) the two things that make a character’s sexual orientation canon, in my opinion, are that character’s own statements, and their actions. since sam never said anything about it we can only look at his actions, so all we know is that he’s attracted to women bc we’ve seen him have sex with them (and enjoy it). what we don’t know is if he’s attracted to other genders as well. we can assume, sure - we can assume he would have hooked up with a guy at some point if he was attracted to them, we can assume that the spn writers would never make a main character queer, whatever - but we can’t say for sure that it’s canon.

now that we’ve established that there’s nothing in canon that definitely speaks against queer sam, let’s look at the things that could potentially speak for queer sam.

first, crossroads demons. you know, crossroads demons, who try to get you to make a deal with them and kiss them to seal it, and therefore usually choose a vessel that looks attractive to whoever summoned them? crossroads demons, who appeared in a male vessel two out of the three times sam summoned one? yeAH. twice. yeah. (4.09 and 8.19). i mean i’m not saying that’s proof or anything but just keep that in mind. most crossroads demons appear as a pretty women in a revealing dress when a man summons them. sam’s crossroads demon appeared as a hot guy in a suit and tie. aLRIGHT THEN. OKAY. COOL.

sam’s (and dean’s) siren in 4.14 was a guy too, but i don’t really count that as a queer sam moment because it was clearly about the brothers, and as much as i love wincest i know they did NOT write that as anything even remotely sexual.

brady though. bRADY. we know for sure that sam and brady used to be close at stanford, they said as much and sam’s reaction was clearly very emotional. but what really hints towards there being more to it than friendship is the way crowley treats the whole thing. all through 5.20 (and 5.21), he refers to brady as sam’s “demon lover” and similar things. which, granted, could just be him joking around and making it into something sexual as usual, but it’s more than that. he refers to him like that even when he’s being serious. he’s really concerned about sam fucking the whole thing up because he’s unable to control his emotions. when he describes their relationship to dean, he says “they have history”. and we know that crowley doesn’t give a shit about sexual orientation, and we know that sam’s not really bothered by people joking about his, so the continuous joking doesn’t make all that much sense - unless, of course, it’s not a joke, but simply the truth. brady and sam had some kind of friends with benefit thing going on don’t even try to fight me on that just don’t

then there’s that moment in 3.10 where sam dreams about sleeping with bela and dean asks if he dreamed about angelina jolie - or brad pitt. and he says it completely serious. like, i’m really not convinced that was a joke. even if IS straight, that was dean honestly considering sam might be into guys. just saying.

also dean’s “could you be more gay?” and sam’s complete silence for an answer in 3.05 i mean this is p much what i think about that

also sam referring to his past sexual partners with gender neutral pronouns

for example in 9.13 where he says “you aren’t the only one who’s ever dated someone bendy” which gives me some interesting headcanons about sam taking a yoga class at stanford and dating the super cute guy who teaches it and gives him private lessons where he learns some rather interesting positions but. moving on.

when bobby makes a deal with crowley and sOLD HIS SOUL the first thing sam asks is if they kissed??? i’m just saying, guys kissing guys must be kind of important for sam, if his mind is so occupied with it that it’s the first question he thinks of. the possibility that someone so close to him might not have a problem with guys kissing guys must be kind of important to sam. and tbh, at least in my experience, other people potentially being queer is something on your mind a lot when you are, especially when you’re not out yet. YOU CAN MAYBE TELL FROM THIS META THAT THE POSSIBILITY OF MY FAVE BEING QUEER IS ON MY MIND A LOT

i also think sam might have had a cute little high school crush on his teacher when he was a teenager, judging from the way he acted in 4.13 and what we see in the flashbacks.

and the most recent thing was, of course, when his issue with “destiel” was “but what do they call me and cas though”

conclusion: sam could very well be queer, there’s tons of potential queer sam canon moments, in fact there are so many that i’m having trouble posting this bc i just keep thinking of more things to add. there is so much.

45 & 32 with teen!sam bc everyone needs more teen!sam in their life lets be real i love him so much

honestly though i feel llike such a cougar even if we are only a few years apart but teeN SAM omg i wish he was my boyfriend and I’M SORRY THIS ONE IS SO LONG OML

The intercom microphone squeaked over the speakers as the principal called over the school.

The class hissed and ‘ooooh’d as Sam leaned back in his desk, smiling as if he just won the gold medal in the delinquent olympics.

The teacher stared at him, as he stood up and slung his backpack around his shoulder. He took pride in his shenanigans, taking each lecture from the principal with a grain of salt.

Sam saluted the class as he walked out the door, waving his fingers and giving the everybody his always charming smile. You were definintely going to figure out what he did after class ended.

Sam did not return to class and you didn’t see him until after school. He was leaning against the brick building, hands in his pockets, and staring at the baseball field.

“So what did you do this time?” You asked, walking up to him and dropping your backpack, leaning on the wall next to Sam.

“Eh, nothing serious,” he shrugged. “I just spread mayonaise under the principals desk and stuffed some lunch meat into his couch.” Sam looked to the side and gave you a smirk.

“Needless to say, I sat in the clean chair.” he said.

You laughed and shook your head.

“Samuel Morgan, you are one lucky duck.” You said, putting your hands on your hips. “If anyone else were to pull the stuff you do, we’d all be expelled.”

“I guess you could say that,” Sam said, leaning down to grab his bag. Something caught his mind. “Hey, you’ll still be going to set up for the prank, right?”

You nodded, following his motions to pick up your backpack.

“Yeah, I just need to bring the spraypaint, right?” You ask.

“Yep, I’ve got everything else. See you tonight.” He said, walking backwards and winking at you before turning around and disappearing behind the school.

That night, you met Sam and a few other students in the parking lot of the high school at midnight. You were the first one there, greeted by Sam a few moments later.

“How did you beat me here?” he asked, giving your arm a tap with the back of his hand.

“I guess I’m more dedicated than you.” You replied, smirking and pulling bottles of spraypaint out of your backback. “Now where do we start?”

After the others had shown up, the group snuck into the school. The prank was being held in the senior hallway, stuffing some lockers with dead fish and spraypainting whatever anyone felt like vandalizing.

You were sucked into this mess mainly because Sam wanted you to tag along and wanted to make sure you didn’t feel left out. It probably wasn’t the best way or smartest way to make you feel included, but you joined in anyway just for the bragging rights.

You and Sam had split to the other side of the hallway while the others worked on the entrance.

“So, tell me a secret. How do you think we are going to get away with this?” You asked, trying to ignore the empty hallway before the both of you.

Sam shrugged and combed his hand through his hair.

“Easy, we just don’t get caught.”

As if on queue in a movie, a flashlight reflected off of the window in the hallway. The others had already scrambled and left you and Sam in the dust, while you two were just realizing you were in trouble.

“Shit–” Sam hissed, pushing you back against the lockers.

His body pinned you to the cold metal, and you pressed your hands against his chest. He was tense.

“Who’s there?” The security guard shouted, his voice echoing down the empty hall.

You and Sam breathed in sync, as he looked out of the corner of his eye.

“You have to go.” He whispered, trying to keep any noise to a minimum. “Go outside the back hall door.”

“No, I’m not leaving you.” You whispered back. “If you get busted, I get busted.”

Sam pressed his lips together in frustration. He wanted you to go. Like you had said earlier, if you got caught, you would end up expelled and he did not want it to happen to you.

“Show yourselves! I know you’re in there!” The guard seemed closer, just around the corner, and your heart pounded.

“Go! Now! Please!” Sam begged, grabbing your waist and pushing you towards the empty end of the hallway.

You couldn’t chase after him before he walked around the corner. Sam had already attempted to smooth-talk his way out of trouble. You caught bits of the conversation as you crept to the other side.

“Excuse me, sir? I’m sorry, I don’t mean to bother you.”

“What are you doing here? You’re tresspassing on school property.” The guard seemed irritated.

“You see, I lost my backpack today and I need it to finish my homework. You know how those teachers get.”

The guard was silent.

“Just get out.”

“Can do, sir.” Sam said, coming back around the corner and spotting you. He waved you off hastily as the flashlight came around the bend as well, and you vanished onto the other side.

You wigged out of the crawl space that connected the inside of the school to the outside. The panic was setting in, as you looked at your shaking hands. Did Sam get in trouble? Did the officer catch on to the prank? Did Sam get blamed for it? You wanted to take the blame, Sam only had so many strikes left until the school was tired of him.

You jumped when you felt something cover your back and you whipped around, just about to sock Sam in the face.

“Jesus Christ, don’t sneak up on me like tha–!” You began to say, and Sam covered your lips with his finger.

“Shhh, you’re gonna wake up the entire neighborhood.” He said, continuing to put his jean jacket over your shoulders. “Why you shakin’ like that?”

You looked down at your hands which were still trembling.

“Nerves, I guess.” You laughed nervously, pulling the jacket around you.

Sam crossed his arms and leaned on the building.

“Thanks for wanting to stick it out with me until the end.” He said, smiling at you. You couldn’t help but to smile back.

“Don’t mention it.” You said, digging your heel into the dirt.

“Nah, I think I will mention it.” He said, leaning in close to you. You leaned against the brick as he inched forward. “No one has ever done that for me before.”

You looked at him questioningly, before he spoke up again.

I think I’m in love with you and I’m terrified.” Sam said, shaking his head and emitting a small laugh.

It caught you off guard. Sam? In love with you? You knew you two had been friends for as long as you could remember, but you never thought Sam ever had feelings for you. Your fingers tightened around his denim jacket.

“Sam, what are you saying?” You asked, laughing nervously again as he put his hands on the brick behind you. Once again you were pinned between Sam and the school.

“I’m saying I don’t want to see you get expelled or in trouble or anything bad like that. You know I usually stick up for a lot of people but, no one ever really sticks up for me, execpt you did.” His eyes were staring directly into yours and your heart raced. “I’m terrified to think that you would–” he stopped and pushed himself off of the wall, opening the space between you and the outside world.

“That I would what?” You asked, following him a step outward.

“That you would love me back.” He said, his voice sounding painfully defeated.

“Sam, I…” You began to say, as he turned around and stared at you.

He looked at you with longing, with want, with the look of someone who wanted to be loved. Someone who needed to be loved, and luckily you were the person to give it.

“I didn’t know you felt that way about me but, I wasn’t just willing to throw myself out there just for anybody you know.”

He wasn’t catching on.

“I’m willing to put myself on the line for the people I love.” You said, smiling at him and tugging on the jacket wrapped around you. “And you just happen to be one of them.”

Sam looked up from the ground after he heard you say that, and his face lit up. You walked up to him and pressed yourself against him in a make-shift hug as you held onto his jacket. He wrapped his arms around you, squeezing you tightly.

“Come on, let’s get out of here.” Sam said, escorting you to his bike to take you home.

It was guaranteed that he got a kiss on the cheek before you said your goodnights to each other.

One of the things I like the most about Sam Wilson is that he sort of teaches Steve to slow down a little. He doesn’t really get that from anyone else- from the moment he comes out of the ice, he’s Cap, and everyone is making him go, go, go, and he does.

But Sam is just so… settled. He’s still got some baggage, and he’s still adjusting, but he’s taking it easy. He’s settling into a routine, into a place where he’s comfortable, and that’s something that Steve doesn’t see from like, any other person.

Sam is funny and sweet and domestic, and I dig that, man. He lets Steve and Natasha into his house while they’re on the run and just, offers them breakfast, like this is a normal Wednesday morning for him. He works his day job, he goes for a run in the morning, and he works through it.  And it’s such a good example for Steve, who’s just expected to go without stopping.

So what happens when he can stop?

I think that’s part of where Sam comes in. He shows Steve that you can work through your shit, you can push through the trouble, and you can just breathe for a little while. He’s the kind of guy that takes things one day at a time- one day, he’s running the Mall with Captain America, and a week later, he’s fighting beside him in a takedown of massive Hydra powers. Next thing, he’s volunteering to go on a global chase for a violently programmed brainwashed assassin (who tried to kill him and his friends, no less) and is jumping in with the Avengers. That’s something.

Sam Wilson is the breath of fresh air that Steve Rogers needs, and I am 110% thankful that he exists. He takes care of Steve in a way that no one else really does. He’s looking out for the man who never looks out for himself and is always too busy worrying about everyone else, and more than anything, Steve needs that.

TL;DR- God bless Sam Wilson

While I’ve got my SPN shit out of its dresser so I can try to fit my glasses back in there, I finally got Steve!Cas and Bobby! And I bought model car glue to put the siding and spotlights back on my baby. Jensen gave me a look because of the siding being broken at chicon.
