everyone have a story

Mollie Simon

1. Internship position: Business desk intern

2. Hometown/university: Atlanta/University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!!)

3. Favorite DC spot: Eastern Market…Go on a Sunday around closing time for the best deal on fruit and veggies around.

4. Favorite NPR show, blog or podcast: I love the StoryCorps podcast. It never ceases to amaze me how people can dive so emotionally deep into interviews with one another. Hearing those conversations is a beautiful reminder of how everyone has a story to tell and has people who have touched their life.

5. No. 1 song you’re jamming to right now: “Something Just Like This” by The Chainsmokers & Coldplay

6. Coolest thing you’ve done while at NPR: When Amazon announced its plan to buy Whole Foods, I got to grab a Marantz and head to the nearby grocery store to gather people’s thoughts on the merger. It was a bit nerve-wracking using the equipment for the first time, but it was exciting to talk to people about a breaking news story.

7. Top #NPRLife moment(s): Hearing Randy Newman’s Tiny Desk performance, glimpsing the back of Al Gore’s head in the office, seeing your own by-line, catching David Isay’s voice from around the corner (ditto for Audie Cornish, Ari Shapiro, Robert Siegel and the list goes on)

8. If you could have @NPR tweet the entirety of one document/work, what would it be? MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech…and then when that’s done, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

9. Who is your dream Tiny Desk artist? OneRepublic

10. What’s next for you? I’m headed back to Athens for my last year at UGA. After that, I am interested in maybe working in archiving, research or library sciences…or owning a bakery!

11. Advice for future interns? Don’t be afraid to share your ideas, pitch stories, ask for work and get to know the people on your team. Just as you get familiar with people, it is time to leave, so try your best to start making connections early.

Have another Jealous Black Hat~ I’m planning to make a chibi Villainous comics like this one soon~ I don’t have ideas yet but I’ll see what I can do

The Engineer and his Bestfriend

-Hunk is a brilliant engineer

-Lance knows this, it’s why he spends hours just just watching Hunk work, keeping him company and telling him that it’s time to go to bed whenever it’s late

-Lately Hunk has been getting ready for the final battle with the Galra, taking inspiration from the trap they created intended for Allura and Coran

-It is a machine that will get its intended target into a never ending black hole, no time loops, no time jumps, just nothing

-And it seems like the machine works because they have experimented on inanimate objects and have tried everything possible to bring them back and once it becomes impossible they know that they can then build one on a bigger scale

-Hunk’s machine works and it will save the day but

-Something goes wrong with the machine, it was something that kept cropping up in the beta testing, it’s a certain screw that just never really wants to work

-And see the only people who know where the screw is and how to fix it are Lance and hunk

-And once you fix it, it’s game over, there no coming back from it

-Lance and hunk both know this

-Before Hunk can even go apologize or go fix it

-Lance is already on his way to the machine

-But just before he gets there, he stops and through the intercom tells Hunk “You are the best damn engineer and friend in this world, watch me make your machine work buddy”

-And hunk is just sobbing repeating “I love you Lance and please don’t do this, I can’t do this without you, I can’t do this without my best friend”

-And now the rest are starting to catch on to what Lance is really doing but by that point it’s too late the galra are gone

- Lance is gone

-And because Hunk is such a good fucking engineer there’s no way to ever get him back

-But you see it’s because Hunk is such a good engineer that he doesn’t give up

-He works non-stop for almost a year trying to get Lance back

-Pidge spends more time on the computer becoming more withdrawn, more obsessive in finding his family, including Lance

-Shiro takes it hard, he feels as if he’s let down his team for not being able to keep them all in one piece, he goes back to being very tense and stiff around the others

-Allura spends days, even weeks trying to find Lance, pinpoint where in all the universe he could be, she won’t say it but she misses his bad pick up lines

-And Coran is just hurt and upset that the young man who would get so homesick and yet try his best and be there for others would give up his chance to see his family and that is what pains him the most

-And Keith just starts spending even more time training, withdrawing from others, trying to act as if though he doesn’t miss Lance, trying to move on, failing to move on

-Hunk just well he needs to get Lance back because what is life without your best friend?

-Who just sits for hours on end just to watch you work and tinker

-A friend who has been there for so long they know what tool you need with a look

-A friend who knows that food isn’t the only important thing to but goddamn we need to find small things that bring us happiness

-A friend who makes you go to sleep when it’s late and you’ve been on a creating binge (the others don’t know but that’s okay the person who needs to know, does)

-A friend who just wants you to succeed

-A friend who loves you for who you are and ask for nothing in return

- A friend who would die for them, for him…..

-What is life without your best friend?

-Hunk already knows and he never wants to live through that again

-Because you see it’s because Hunk is such a good fucking engineer that he does get Lance back

A worldbuilding thing people often overlook is the way that cultures are contradictory without anyone really noticing or acknowledging it. Like “in Xland funerals involve covering the corpse with gold leaf and then making a dozen marble statues of the deceased” except, you know, those are only some funerals. Or “In the US in the fifties married women didn’t work outside the home” except that didn’t apply to poor women and plus actually quite a few middle class married women–with kids even–had full time jobs (like my grandmother, who was a social worker in the 50s and actually all the way up to her retirement).

The Sherlock Holmes style of deduction–no native speaker of English would make this particular mispelling! No member of this one religion would ever have/say/do this forbidden thing, therefore Person B must not have done it! Everyone in Society Z was married, so stories about an unmarried adult must be entirely fiction, or they must just not have mentioned a spouse for some reason” all these things assume that cultures are logically consistent in a particular, straightforward way that, frankly, they pretty much never are. Note, I’m not saying you can’t draw any conclusions at all from data about cultures, just, things aren’t hard and fast, certainly not simple, and people generally just don’t see the contradictions or put them in a special “but that’s different” category.

You know I’ve been taking some time

And I’ve been keeping to myself

I had my eyes up on the prize

Ain’t watching anybody else

But your love it hit me hard

Yeah, you’re bad for my health

I love the cards that I’ve been dealt

Do you feel the same as well?

You know, I used to be in 1D (now I’m out, free)

People want me for one thing (that’s not me)

I’m not changing the way, that I (used to be)

I just wanna have fun (and get rowdy)

Want coke and bacardi (sippin’ lightly)

When I walk inside the party (girls on me)

F1 type Ferrari (6 gear speed)

I love it when your body (grinds on me), baby

You know I love it when the music’s start
But c'mon, strip that down for me, baby

There’s a lot of people in the crowd
But only you can dance with me

So put your hands on my body
And swing around for me, baby

You know I love it when the music start
But c'mon, strip that down for me (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)

Oh, strip that down
Love when you hit the ground (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)

Oh, strip that down
Love when you hit the ground

You know, that since the day I met you

Yeah, you swept me off my feet

You know, that I don’t need no money

When your love is beside me

Yeah, you opened up my heart

And then you threw away the key

Now it’s just you and me

And you don’t care ‘bout where I’ve been

anyways, BTS are LGBTQ+ legends and here are some reasons why:

Namjoon recommended Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Same Love to us saying: ‘I heard this song before but I didn’t know the lyrics, now I know them and I like the song twice as much.’

Yoongi in Cypher Pt.2: ‘As you know, my voice will turn you on. Whether it’s a guy or girl, my tongue will make you come’

Yoongi’s answer to “What do you notice first when you look at girls?”: ‘I focus on personality and atmosphere. I don’t have an ideal type and it’s not limited to a girl.’

Some BTS members helped to write GLAM’s debut song “Party XXO” which I quote say:  “Are you a boy? Girl? I don’t care – passion is the key, a hot heart is your ID”

Jungkook and RM covered a Troye Sivan song that talks about homosexual love!

and so much more….

BTS never shied away to represent and speak out for the LGBTQ+ Community, wether they are gay or not themselves is not up to us to decide. Everyone has their own journey. BUT ITS UP TO US TO SUPPORT THEM NO MATTER WHAT! First and foremost we are here because the music speaks to us. And we love and support the boys because of their TALENT!

But you can’t tell anyone what to feel or how to love. Being gay isn’t a ‘so called sexuality’!!!! And you can’t stop telling LGBTQ+ people to not support their idols however they like!!!!

Heteronormativity is everywhere. Sad enough it’s the ‘norm’ that still too many people think is the right one. Love is Love. Isnt it sad enough that people in S. Korea and all around the world can’t feel comfortable in their own skin? Are afraid to come out and be their authentic self? Are afraid to show their feelings because they are afraid people will think the thoughts they have in their heads are too dark? That they are crazy? That they might burden people with their “problems”? (Oh yes I’m talking about mental disorders here!)

What is wrong with feeling comfort in the way that BTS is sharing their emotions with us? Whether it’s about depression, suicidal thoughts, being gay, just feeling like you are being oppressed by society, your own thoughts, your own family.

Tell me - what is wrong with feeling like you are not alone? Like you finally feel like someone understands? That someone finally put it into words?

All that you do by saying “Dont tell them they are gay, it would ‘hurt their feelings’” is that gay is an insult. Thats what you are saying. Nothing more. Nothing less.

BTS wants us to challenge society, wants us to break through the walls that hold us back, make us suffer, that are keeping us from expressing who we really are inside. And those methaphorical walls can be different for each and everyone of us. Because we all have different stories…. but in the end we never walk alone.

accept yourself, love yourself, free yourself.

I, myself identifiy as Bi. And my blog will always be a safe place for people!!! RT if you support!

Soooo…  when are you guys start to talk about the Super Secret ending?

it was your life or his…and he chose you

anonymous asked:

They go through fertility problems before finally getting a pregnancy that sticks, can we have the story of when they discover that Yuuri's pregnant with Irina? (Have you done this one already I haven't seen it, sorry if you have, love your stories!)

Whispers I’ve been waiting for this ask.

So as mentioned before, Yuuri retires from skating at twenty-eight and begins coaching and choreographing with Viktor. Because their desire to have children is a big part of the reason why Yuuri retired, they start trying to have a child right away. This would probably be late March, after Worlds. By early May, one of Yuuri’s pregnancy tests comes back positive.

Unfortunately, at Yuuri’s first ultrasound, they can’t find a heartbeat. (I wrote a long-ass scene to do with this but then I pretty much realized that it was full of medical gibberish and crying and probably very boring, so I left that out)

The miscarriage happens in June–and it takes awhile before Yuuri’s hormones are back to normal, in part due to stress. This is a great contributing factor to their conception problems.

In December, Yuuri is almost sure he’s pregnant. For Viktor’s birthday, one of Viktor’s gifts is a gift-wrapped pregnancy test.

“Have you taken it?” Viktor asks, and he’s holding it in shaking hands.

“Not yet,” says Yuuri. “I was thinking we could–it would be a nice gift, if we found out together.”

Then it comes out negative. And Yuuri cries.

“I’m sorry,” Yuuri sobs into his pillow on their bed, curled up into a little ball with Viktor trying to wrap as much of himself around him as possible. “I ruined your birthday. It was a stupid idea, I should have just taken it by myself and not disappointed you. I’m sorry.”

“I thought it was a lovely gesture,” Viktor whispers against his shoulder blade. “I love you, you know.”

“I ruined your birthday,” Yuuri sniffs again.

“The night isn’t over, yet,” Viktor tells him.

They go out and get pretty extravagantly drunk. It’s probably not the wisest course of action, but it’s better than sitting at home, staring at the four walls and crying.

In February, Yuuri sits Viktor down and says, “Maybe we should take a break. Just for a little while.”

Viktor closes his eyes, sighs, and nods. Because he loves Yuuri, and he knows how tired they both are.

(But a little voice in the back of his mind is saying Lilia and Yakov said they were taking a break, too. And that break lasted twenty years. And then it was too late.)

They go out for White Day, which they enjoy celebrating despite not living in Japan at the moment, and when they go to bed after a nice dinner and some dancing, Yuuri realizes that some sort of…pressure has been lifted.

“That was fun,” Yuuri whispers to Viktor afterwards, head on his chest and palm against his belly.

“Mmm, one can only hope,” Viktor murmurs back, and laughs into Yuuri’s hair. “Isn’t sex supposed to be fun?”

“It hasn’t been, though,” Yuuri whispers. “Not for awhile.”

Viktor, almost contemplative, brushes Yuuri’s hair behind his ear and kisses his forehead. “Maybe we’ve been putting too much pressure on ourselves,” he says, and reaches over to turn out the bedside light.

A month and some change later, Yuuri is standing in at store with his phone out, staring at his grocery list. He accidentally flips to his calendar app, where he’s been keeping careful track of all his various cycles, and realizes something.

He counts backwards six times, grocery basket forgotten next to him in the aisle. Someone actually taps his shoulder to ask if he’s alright, because the look on his face must be similar to that of someone who’s seen a ghost.

“I’m fine, thanks,” he mumbles vaguely, and all but runs to the family planning aisle.

“Yuuri?” Viktor asks, when he comes in the door without so much as a hello. “Everything okay?”

“Yeah, I’m fine!” Yuuri calls. “I just–I need to go to the bathroom! Sorry!” He drops all his other purchases on the island counter and books it to the bathroom, more or less slamming the door behind him. He hears Makkachin whimper at the door for him.

“Oh, that’s…that’s fine.” He hears Viktor going through the bags in the kitchen. “Did you get onions?”

Yuuri doesn’t really answer, since he’s so busy peeing into a cup–Viktor’s drinking cup, unfortunately. He dips every test he bought–eight tests of four different brands, because he is Viktor Nikiforov’s husband and being over-the-top is kind of the Nikiforov MO, also because he is not fucking around–and lines them up neatly on the counter, then tries not to hyperventilate as he sits on the edge of the bathtub and waits for the tests to develop.

Viktor knocks on the door. “Kitten? You forgot beets. And half the other things on the list. I’m not complaining, just–is everything okay?”

“Um–just–just give me a minute!” One of the tests is starting to fade in–he knocks two others onto the floor in his hurry to grab it.

One pink line. His heart drops, and he drops with it–sinking onto the floor.

“Yuuri? Are you sick?” Viktor jiggles the doorknob. “Sweetheart? Can you talk to me?”

Yuuri, still vibrating with adrenaline, leans over and unlocks the bathroom door. “You can come in,” he murmurs, not even bothering to hide the despondency in his voice.

Viktor nudges the door open gently, and Yuuri can tell that he knows what’s happened the moment he sees Yuuri sitting on the bathroom floor surrounded by pregnancy tests.

“Oh, Kitten,” Viktor murmurs, hunkering down on the floor with him.

“I’m late,” Yuuri tells him, sniffing. “So I thought–I don’t know, I shouldn’t have even–but I thought maybe…”

Viktor sighs, and gathers the tests that fell on the floor–a pair of expensive ones, with the digital display. He glances at them and clicks his tongue, then does a double take. And a triple take.

“Yuuri,” he says carefully. “Did you look at all of them?”

“No,” Yuuri sniffs, swiping the tears of his cheeks somewhat fiercely. “I didn’t want to–to see all of them say negative.”

“Yuuri.” Viktor sets the two digital tests in front of him, and then reaches up to the counter to retrieve the other five. He lines them all up in a careful line.

Pregnant. Blue plus sign. Blue plus sign. The word YES–

“Oh my God,” Yuuri says, searching through them. “Oh my God. Viktor.”

“Where’s the negative one?” Viktor asks, eyes roving frantically along the floor.

“Here.” Yuuri hands it to him, shaking now for a totally different reason.

Viktor holds it close to his face, and if Yuuri didn’t already know that that man loved him he would have at that moment–you have to love someone to willingly put something with their pee on it that close to your face.

“Look, look.” Viktor holds it out to him, and points to the spot where there might be a very, very faint pink line. “It’s early yet. It’s faint, but it’s there. They’re all positive. Eight positives. Yuuri. Yuuri.”

“Oh my God.” Yuuri presses his face into his hands. “Oh my God. Viktor, oh my God.”

“I know!” Viktor brushes his hair back, kisses the side of his head. “I know! Yuuri, oh baby, please don’t cry. Shh, don’t cry.”

“I’m crying because I’m happy!” Yuuri wails, feeling ridiculous with tears streaming down his face, a grown man huddled on a bathroom floor just sobbing his eyes out.

Come to think, this might be Yuuri’s first happy bathroom cry.

“We’re going to have a baby,” Viktor coos to him, head resting on his shoulder.

Yuuri wrings a hand, hiccuping. “What if I–”

“Don’t,” Viktor says. “Don’t think about that. Remember what the doctor said? Most people go on to have perfectly normal pregnancies after a miscarriage.”

“But I’ve been having so much trouble–”

“That was stress. And hormones. And maybe other things, but it doesn’t matter now because you are. You are pregnant. There are eight tests here telling me that you’re going to have my baby–and I have complete faith that they’re right.”

Yuuri stares at him, eye still swimming in tears. He sways forward until their foreheads are pressed together, and grabs Viktor’s hand to push it up underneath his shirt, pressed warm against his belly.

“Who should we tell?” he murmurs.

“Let’s keep it to ourselves, for now,” Viktor whispers back. “You know me, Yuuri. I’m Russian. If it were up to me, I wouldn’t tell anyone until your water broke.”

Yuuri, who a year ago thought Russian pregnancy superstitions were pretty extreme, can’t disagree with him.

When Yuuri announces to his and Viktor’s students and he won’t be skating for awhile, the look Lilia gives him across the rink is disturbing levels of all-knowing, but Yuuri figures that it doesn’t really jinx anything if the person figures it out themselves–and has as-yet undiscovered superpowers aiding them.

“I think Lilia just smiled at me,” he whispers to Viktor as he leans against the boards, watching their students warm up.

“Pregnancy brain,” Viktor tells him gravely, but there’s a joviality to his voice that’s hard to miss.

Jenna: All the time, It’s stressful

@Jin: Well~ I hope you can listen to it soon. I bet everyone will be surprised. I think no one can imagine what’s coming.

It’s not like I’ve been sleeping all these years OK.

I will make it a passionate and awesome album that can make you laugh till crying/both laugh and cry.

Let’s speed up the BPM.

@Jin: For the people who read the light novel or the manga, won’t the contents make them go quite “Ah!”, I think? Especially, it seems so for the next “The story of enduring/hiding the Eyes” song.

@Jin: Ahh~ I hope everyone can listen to it soon…

“The story of having a discerning eye” and “The story seeped into the eyes” are especially in high spirits.

I hope you can look forward to whose song they are.

@Jin: I can’t die until finishing the song of Senpai, so finally, finally…

If I talk too much, you will lose the anticipation I’m afraid.

@Jin: So I can only talk a little like this.
