everybody else is

I remember the day my sister suggested I’d make an ask blog as if it were yesterday.

She had already made her own ask blog earlier that day and her character inspired me to make @ask-red-robot-scout. I was already a huge fan of team fortress, but I’d never ran an ask blog before let alone use tumblr for anything.

it’s been an entire year since then and so much has happened. Many new people joined the fandom. A rainbow of teams now exist, monsters, aliens, ghosts and all kinds of mercenaries answer asks to this day. Asks were received on a daily basis. The community flourished and I saw so much creativity in such a short span of time.

I’ve never been more proud of people I’d never met before.

Of course we all know how this story ends; teams started dying off fast, members of the community left for a number of reasons, every last drop of inspiration was sucked dry from them. Very few blogs lasted more than a couple months.

I, however, wouldn’t give up. Spite, the need to please others, a friend’s encouragement and multiple promises kept me going, even when there were days of absolute silence, I refused to leave my blogs to die. I believed I was keeping the community alive but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Even then, I didn’t care, I had a valid reason to stay.

I’d made a ‘promise’ to be the last ONG standing, to make my followers happy, but now I know I can’t keep to my word. I’ve made so many promises in fact that I can’t possibly owe up to all of them. I’ve exhausted myself emotionally and physically time and time again trying to entertain everybody, I would skip meals and lose sleep making RP replies to the point where I would shake. When you guys told me to take a break, I felt stressed, like I was letting everybody down.

The point is, I’ve realized that I no longer have a reason to continue running this blog, it might even be beneficial to my health if I quit now. Whatever motivation I had for it before is long gone, I need to move on, for my own sake. I will always love the community and adore the game, and I’ll remember you all and never forget your kindness, your jokes, your silly asks and the interactions we’ve forced our poor muses to have with one another, but I think it’s time I go. I’m also sorry I have to drop our threads.

I wish you all the best,

auf wiedersehen.

Beginners Guide To Being A Gay part 1

Experiencing feelings: Okay so your 12-13 years old and you see all the boys and girls getting into each other (not sexually))yet anyways( I’d sure as hell hope not ) But when you start to notice boys and girls yourself and you start to feel weird. Like what is happening to you? Your having the same feelings but not the way everybody else is. You begin to ask yourself why your attracted to people of your own gender. You don’t want to feel like a freak or be an outcast to your friends if you ask them about it. You just want to these feelings to go away and try not to ignore them.

Here’s what I’m gonna tell you. Liking a boy if your a boy or if your a girl who likes a girl at this age is normal. Your not alone, a lot of people have felt the same way you do. Your not weird or creepy, It’s gonna take you sometime to be fully comfortable with who you are given the fact that the people around you will pick on you for every little thing you do at your age. But remember school doesn’t last forever and as you get older you’ll stop caring about what people think of you because you’ll want to make yourself happy. Acceptance of yourself will become easier over time.

Rosy are we meant to be applauding Emori in that scene? I mean she's doing what everyone else has in this show, trying to survive, but she discovered some facts, wouldn't it have made sense if she just confronted Abby and Clarke? She doesn't know/trust them like Murphy and i kind of get why she immediately assumes they're gonna sacrifice her but still...I guess this is the perspective of the viewer since we know the other characters better but do you think they'd consider her for a test sudject?

Here’s the thing. Emori doesn’t think like everybody else. Emori is a reject. She is the lowest of the low in grounder society. An outcast. She isn’t allowed in Polis. She was tossed out like trash as a baby. Season 4 has reinforced that frikdreina are considered less than human.

Emori did what she had to in order to survive and that includes cheat, steal, lie and kill.

She does not need our morality. She does not want our morality. She rejects our morality. And she always has. “Morality” has never been there for her.  I’ve gotten a few posts confused about her because they think she should “do the right thing.” Nope. Not Emori.

She loves John Murphy. He’s her kru. Everyone else can go hang themselves, even people she is working with. When she things turning against her, even potentially, she ditches. See saw the inevitable course of action to be them using her as a test subject because she isn’t valuable like the rest. It’s a fair assessment coming from her POV. Would they? I don’t know. I don’t think they’d pick her, but if they had to?

Are we meant to see her trick as badass? I kind of thought it was badass. That doesn’t mean “good.” It was clever and tactical, vicious, cold. She used their tendency to believe against them. Well, she really didn’t use it against them. In some ways, she helped them. Their moral objections were reduced, because she gave them a subject that they could now define as inherently BAD and DESERVING of death. Emori made it easy for them to do the horrible thing they needed to do to see if they could save the rest of them. And she also took herself out of the line of fire. Yep. Still badass.

Totally slytherin and kind of evil, but badass.

I’m partly somebody else trying to fit in and say the right things and do the right thing and be in the right place and wear what everybody else is wearing. Sometimes I think we’re all trying to be shadows of each other, trying to buy the same records and everything even if we don’t like them. Kids are like robots, off an assembly line, and I don’t want to be a robot!

Let’s talk about forgiveness

March 23, 2017, Thursday [#74]

Introduction: It seems like everybody in the fandom is writing their own long post about Kaitlyn this week. I feel like I should too, but she’s been my least favorite character since Book One, so I haven’t experienced the same emotional upheaval everybody else has. So I think I’ll talk about something I’m curious about: What would be unforgivable for you?

Sort-of recap: In Book Two, we watched as the whole fandom (or at least ninety-nine percent of it) turned against James, or was at least super disappointed in him, when he tore into the main character for allegedly lying (NO I DIDN’T LIE JAMES) to him about Professor Vasquez. But everybody seems to have forgiven him now and some people, including myself, went on to choose him as Book Three’s love interest. Does that mean we’ve forgiven him for not giving us a chance to explain ourselves?

Main question: The in-game love interests have put us through a lot. So my question is this: What would be unforgivable for you? What line would your Choices love interest (or friend) have to cross in order to never be able to receive your forgiveness?

Possibilities: There are two answers I’m anticipating hearing. The first is cheating, the second is violence. Both are understandable… but what if they apologized? What if James cheats on you with Yasmin, tells you, then apologizes and says it will never happen again? What if Kaitlyn does? And what about Kaitlyn’s blatant disregard for your well-being? After all, you were knocked to the ground AND almost trampled and she didn’t seem to care at all. What if Zig accidentally hits you in a heated moment and is instantly (and genuinely) sorry afterwards? What if Chris… um, sorry, Chris, but these other three are being more dramatic at the moment in my opinion, so I can’t think of a comparable question for you 😆

A place to think: Yes, our choices are limited by what options are provided for us in the game. And yes, sometimes we choose options we wouldn’t in real life because it’s a game and it’s fun to act like somebody else since it’s all fictional. Choices is the kind of game that can be played and enjoyed by both a younger and an older audience, and the visual novel aspect, being immersive and expansive, provides a safe way to consider this kind of topic without the risk of real-life trauma.

More questions: What are the things that you would forgive inside the game, but not forgive outside the game? And what are the things that you would NOT forgive both inside and outside the game? What if there were apologies and promises to never do those things again from the characters? Will you forgive pretty much anything as long as they apologize sweetly enough?

Personal comments: Eh, James barely apologized for his Book Two nonsense. I just chose him for Book Three ONLY because it seemed pretty boring to play a romance story without a romantic interest - but in reality, my character still hasn’t forgiven him for just cutting things off without even asking her for her side of the story first. He didn’t have to keep on seeing her, but to not even listen to what she had to say showed that he didn’t acknowledge her as an equal partner in the relationship, which was not acceptable.

Final note: While I’m curious to see what people are saying… well, as silly as it sounds, I’m also partly asking out of… well… concern? This latest The Freshman chapter is showing certain sides of certain characters, and while I completely understand choosing story options for fun because it’s a game, I just wanted to emphasize that if your current/future friends and/or love interests in REAL LIFE act in ways that mirror these fictional characters’ hurtful and/or alarming actions, please be very careful! (And I know that you’re perfectly capable of telling the difference between fiction and reality - I just wanted to write this somewhere public for my own peace of mind 😆)

Listen, listen. The fact Eliot Spencer’s response to Parker being upset and asking if they could kill the guy who upset her was a shrug and, “Yeah. I mean, I could.” will never, ever not be important to me.

Today is a great day!

It’s the 25th of December and you know what that means……
