you: wait so is rick loving morty considered toxic?
me, an intellectual: he said it was his unhealthy attachments that he considered toxic, not the fact that he loves his grandson. like the episode established, “healthy” rick was only “healthy” to his own understanding and standards. to rick, his emotional attachment towards his family is illogical and therefore he considers it toxic to his life. his “healthy” self still loves morty, but he just wouldnt go to the extreme of sacrificing himself for him, because he considers anything that even remotely threatens his self-preserving nature “toxic”, which is why toxic rick (the opposite of “healthy” rick) almost immediately sacrificed himself when he saw his morty would die if not. in short, rick doesnt think of superficially loving his family a flaw, just loving his family to the point of letting those emotions get in the way of his thinking
you, also an intellectual: cool i understand now, also rick is a fuckin booger
me: Yes i agree
