You walked out of the library, book in hand. You were reading as you rounded the corner. You heard bubbling laughter coming from down the stairs. A smile formed on your face. You went down and saw exactly as you expected.
“What on earth are you doing to him?” You asked your husband, eyebrow raised, albeit the smile from earlier still plastered on your face. They both straightened up at once.
“Oh….just….” Adam began, but he was cut off.
“Daddy was teaching me how to fight, Mama!” Your five year old little boy came running up to you.
“Was he now? Who won?” You glanced between both of your boys.
“Me, of course” they both answered. They shared a glance of disbelief that the other would claim victory.
“Well, then!” Adam stated. “I declare a rematch!” Both of the boys laughed and went back to wrestling on the floor. You sat down in your chair with the book in your hand. You smiled at the scene before you. Suddenly, your son stopped and looked up at you, an excited look on his face.
“Mama…what book is that?” He asked, eyes gleaming. You grinned, glancing at your husband.
“Romeo and Juliet.” You smiled down at him. Adam groaned.
“Oh not that one again. You’ve read it to him twice already! The whole way through!” You chuckled at his tantrum.
“Yes, and, perhaps i’m wrong, but I do believe that the last time I read it, I saw you smiling.” You smirked at Adam as he huffed.
“I did no such thing.”
You grinned at him before turning to your son.
“Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.”
You didn’t comment when you saw the corners of Adam’s lips turn up ever so slightly.
(A/N: Not my best work, but I needed to get it out of my head)
“Need help finding something?”
Belle jumped back from the bookcase startled. She hadn’t expected anyone to be in the library this early in the morning. When she crept up the stairs earlier, both the beast and the rest of the household were asleep in their beds. Turning to face the speaker, Belle to meet a bronze figurine attached to two metal plates. “You’re a bookend. ”
Thankfully you took no offense to the surprise and curiosity lacing her voice. Giving Belle a simple smile and nod. “Unfortunately, I really would much prefer to be a beginning though. After all beginnings have no ends, only transitions to better more exciting things.”
“You like to read?” Belle asked slowly, still processing the new character spun into her life. No matter how many enchanted people she met, Belle would never get use to the magic of this place.
“Well I am a bookend after all.” You bowed. “(Y/N) (L/N), at your service Miss. I am the castle’s librarian and bookend. ”
“The castle has a librarian?” Belle repeated, astonished.
You only grinned. “Of course, who else would recommend what to read next. ”
Days passed since your first meeting with Belle and the two of you rapidly became good friends. When she wasn’t spending time with the Prince or the others, she’d visit the library. You’d discuss books, or at times vent (she about her taken freedom, and you about the curse). It was nice to say the least.
“People used to make fun of me all the time back home. They’d yell at me to either get my nose out of my book, and my head out of the clouds. ” You confided, during one of your ventings .
“Really? Me too. Once the village headmaster got so upset for me teaching a girl to read, he and the other townsfolk emptied my laundry into the street. “Belle laughed.
You scrunched up your nose. “How awful. I can’t imagine anyone doing that to me. They might’ve despised me, but they all were to scared of my fiance to try anything. ”
Belle shot you a questioning look. “You never mentioned a fiance. ”
You shrugged. “Doesn’t matter, the enchantress erased us from the memories of those we loved. Besides he has undoubtedly moved on by now, it’s been several years. ”
“But what if he hasn’t. They say true love conquers all. ”
“You’ve been reading too much romance, my friend.” You ignored the desire to tell her it might not matter even if he hadn’t moved on. For all you knew Gaston, your fiance could be dead. After all, he rode out to war only days before the curse was set.
A sad smile made its way to your face. Even now you couldn’t believe how much you loved him. Not when he was the exact opposite of everything you dreamt for in a man. Gaston wasn’t humble or vastly intellectual. He was brash, arrogant, full of himself and often times so annoying you could scream. Yet somehow the asshole stole your heart.
“Although he used to say his memory of me was eternal. That even if war somehow took away his memories of us, he would know that something was missing- that I was missing and return to find me. ” You gave a small chortle. “He also said it would be the easiest hunt ever. Since all he needed to find was an argumentative bookworm.“
Belle smiled softly, placing her finger on your tiny shoulder. “I’m sure he’s looking for you right as we speak.”
You avoided her eyes, not wanting to even chance the hope. Little did you know though, Gaston was searching for you. He just didn’t know it. All the captain knew was that since the war, something felt missing, and the closest substitute to it was Belle. The bibliophile who always rebuffed him.
Belle and Adam don’t really want children of their own, at least not in the near future, so Belle dedicates her time to starting her own children’s literature company called Beauty and the Books. It’s hugely successful.
Plumette is her head of her marketing and is literally a genius, Lumiere is constantly blown away by his fiance’s beauty and fucking brilliance and honestly he’s lovesick for her
Lumiere himself opens up a classy af five star restaurant in the city, and Cogsworth agrees to work with him if it means he gets to work his own hours
Mrs. Potts and Chip move back in with Mr. Potts and Chip grows up in a very simple household. He goes to school where he discovers his passion for dance, but the dance school he wants to attend is super expensive so Adam and Belle help his family out with the tuition :3
Cadenza and Garderobe tour the world as an operatic/musical duo, being a fabulous power couple together and booking shows anywhere from italy to israel. They are literally living the dream man
Lefou is head of Belle’s company’s creative team and has his own really big office and stuff where he frames all of his boyfriend’s shirtless selfies
Gaston is a bodybuilder who makes all his money from his ultra-famous instagram. He’s also a stay at home dad since he and Lefou adopted a cute lil son
Meanwhile, Adam is a professional model and does really classy perfume/cologne commercials and stuff. He’s been offered a few movie roles, but he doesn’t like travelling or people that much, so he’s turned them down to live a relatively quiet life with his Belle
Maurice lives in a little cottage out in the country, where he’s been content for a long time. Everyone frequently visits him because Maurice is the best grandpa :))
Skimming through the Beauty and the Beast tag, along with the title characters tags, there is a TON of people crapping on the movie. Griping about costumes, Emma, how many songs there are, the plot changes… A ton of stuff. And mostly they just sound like a bunch of 5 year olds who didn’t get their minds read and catered to.
So I’m here to tell you the movie is freaking fantastic. I’ve been a major, huge, lifetime fan of the animated Beauty and the Beast from 1991 (I was two when it came out and it’s my second favorite Disney movie of all time). I went into the theater with huge expectations and this movie rocketed past them.
The dress: Is it very different? Yes but it works. Pictures of it bummed me out but seeing it move on screen was incredible. And she uses the dress to do more than dance so it’s perfect for it. Read: it’s gorgeous, especially when they dance.
The costumes: Beautiful. Of course Belle wears the iconic blue dress with a couple twists but she also changes because one does not normally wear the exact same thing for weeks.
Emma: I’ve never seen a single HP movie so I had basically nothing to go off of when it came to her. I thought she did an impeccable job. She kept Belle’s fire, her vulnerability, her big heart, her softness, and subtracted none from her.
The songs: …. It’s a Disney movie. A musical Disney animated movie reimagined with live characters, but still a Disney musical movie. And it’s awesome. I never tired of the songs, they added three or four? None felt out of place or Too Much. And honestly, holy crap, I see zero complaints on Dan Stevens’ Evermore I think we can all agree that was straight up breathtaking.
The plot: They did change a couple things but they were things that could live with being changed. If anything the changes strengthened the plot. Without giving much away, they solidified why Belle was kept at the castle, why she felt so out of place in her town, how Beast wasn’t just a bratty Prince and gave the prince an even more defined character arc, and every character was 3 dimensional by the rolling credits.
I just want to tell you all, who want to see the film or are worried from all the whining you’re seeing on here, that this movie is exceptional. It’s beautifully acted, it’s funny (even a little self deprecating,) it’s gorgeous onscreen, and as a lifetime lover of the original it brought me to tears more than once.
Bravo, Disney, seriously.
this is my favorite moment in the movie. You can clearly tell that he was in love with Belle for quite some time, but this was really when he showed it. He knew that she would leave right away, and he thought that she would never come back again, and he still did it, because he loved her.
This is my one of my favorite moments in any disney movie, it’s such a blatant declaration of of love without even saying “I love you”
Gaston slowly falling in love with you – Belle’s younger sister –

morning— You and your sister were very different. You both had a
tendency to joke about how odd
you were compared to the rest of the villagers. She always had her
nose stuck in a book, while you’ve always prefered activities
including sword fighting or archery. Both very inappropriate for a
young girl these days. But you couldn’t care less, you’ve even made your own target in the back of your house where you could work on mastering
Which you did quite often, just like this
Suddenly your concentration was interrupted by a
sound of four pairs of horse hooves slowly approaching your house.
You hesitated for a minute if you should go see who the
unexpected visitors were since no one else was home at the moment.
Purely out of curiosity you made your way to the front to
find Gaston and LeFou knocking on the door. It was quite suprising,
you didn’t expect Gaston to give up completely but neither to turn up so
„Bonjour monsieur Gaston, monsieur LeFou.“ You
smiled at both man as you greeted them kindly. „If you’re looking
for Belle, I’m afraid she is not here, she went into the
You couldn’t help but notice the lovely bouquet
Gaston was holding in his hand. „These are some beautiful flowers
you have there, monsieur Gaston. I’m sure Belle will enjoy them very
much.“ That was a lie, obviously, but you didn’t have the heart to
tell him otherwise.
„Actually, miss Y/N, these are for you.“
He implied giving you one of his most charming smiles as he offered
you the flowers. Which you gladly accepted but still couldn’t believe
what he just said.
„B-but, I thought-“

In any other situation,
you would have melted with joy but due to the given circumstances,
you weren’t very sure about the credibility of his actions.

Are you sure you are not just trying to make my sister jealous?
Because if you are, trust me, it is not
going to work.“ You mumbled as you turned around and slowly started to make your way up
the stairs to your house.
„No.“ Gaston wasn’t going to
just let you go. Grabbing your wrist, he pulled you close forcing you
look straight into his eyes. „Please, let me prove it to you.“ He

would be … very nice.“ You nodded as your lips curled upwards
making his eyes twinkle.
„See you tonight then, my lady!“
Now you just had to figure how how tell your sister and
your father about the unexpected guest.
“You want to learn how to read?’ Belle repeated, cautiously. As excited as she was at the prospect of having another reader in town, the beauty felt rather suspicious. After all, you were Gaston’s friend, and she wouldn’t put it past him to recruit you into helping woo her.
You bit your lip frustrated. The anger within you threatening to break free as you answered, ‘yes’ for the millionth time. Seriously? What did Gaston see in her again? Sure, she was incredibly beautiful, but other than that the two held nothing in common.
“But… why?” She questioned.
You about near lost it. “Look if you don’t want to teach me fine. I’ll find someone else to do it!”
That was a lie. The only readers in town were Belle, her father, Pere Robert, and surprisingly Gaston. The last two who you held too much pride to ask, and the third a most definite ‘no’ if his daughter refused you. “No. No, I’ll teach you. It’s just…. you’ve never had any real interest in reading before, (Y/N).” Belle replied.
Oh. Oh! Now you understood the reluctance. “Trust me, your the last person, I’d try to set Gaston up with.” You snorted. “I’m asking for this favor for my own personal gain. No matter how humiliating it is.”
“I see.” The sharpness of your tone threw Belle back a little, but you weren’t exactly known for being tactful of people. In fact if there was anyone considered funnier than her, it would be you…the town’s idiot.
“So are you going to teach me or what?” You huffed. Despite looking away Belle could see the bit of redness in your cheeks. It was actually kind of adorable.
“Alright, meet me by the laundry area later this afternoon. We’ll start then.” Belle instructed.
“Great.” You answered. A smile adorning your face for the first time during the whole conversation.
