I mean it’s basically exactly what it says on the tin? I smashed two of my favorite fairy tales together to create this monster.

It starts out as something more similar to BatB, but in this case it’s more Beauty’s story as the Beast is always super smooth and kind to her and she is the one who has to overcome his … you know, entire situation with his face and body and all that.

But since it’s also an ESWM retelling, he transforms back to his normal form at night, only she doesn’t get to see it because of the curse that neither he nor his servans can talk about. (Then she takes a peek anyway and he’s taken away and she has to go and find him and all that.)

It’s honestly kind of a mess but I feel like both fairy tales are very similar and fit together well enough that I could make a decent story out of both. I’m debating whether I should make it a standalone thing or two shorter books. I don’t wanna overstay my welcome and it’s a fairly small, personal story that I probably won’t expand too much. Don’t wanna make it longer than it needs to be.

Though since it’s only in the inception stage, it might become more with a larger background conflict, if I find anything that fits.

If you want to know more, feel free to ask! I don’t really know much about the world or characters yet, but whatever I pull outta my ass might help me actually develop it so idk.

Ever Since We Met vs Operatic Skeleton

edit: i wrote this under the understanding that an Edit i heard of os mixed in to nw, but that’s wrong. and idk i don’t wanna rewrite this im on mobile sorry

Basically, ESWM is Brendon writing to Ryan. There’s a LOT of this in other panic songs and looking at Panic! lyrics vs Young Veins lyrics, but this is most likely the first written instance of this. Nearly Witches was originally from the Cabin Album, therefore the first thing written off of VV. And the first instance of that “song letter” deal going on.

Before you read any of this, go read punkcircus’s and 2008ryan’s analysis on Operatic Skeleton alone. It’s not SUPER relevant to ESWM vs OS but it’s important on it’s own.

Some of the character designs I did for my adaptation of East of the Sun, West of the Moon.

I learned a lot with this project and am going to try and work on the things that were really hard for me. Maybe the people familiar with the fairy tale can recognise some of the characters! Since I adapted the fairy tale, I had to change quite a bit of the plot, but I tried to keep what makes the story unique.

Maybe some of you have been wondering why I posted more rarely these last couple months. This is part of the reason why.

I finished art school and this was my final project, a concept for an animated movie based on the fairy tale East of the Sun, West of the Moon. If you live close to Weisbaden, Germany, my full thesis is on display from today till Saturday, the 16th at Walhalla Theater. The show starts at 7pm each day and displays all the graduation projects from our school.

I recorded the process for this one and will post the video link later tonight!

I recorded my last Wednesday stream! You can find the finished drawing here.
