Coconut Oil Hair Treatment For Dry Hair

What you will need:

Organic Virgin Coconut Oil
A Clip or Elastic
A Shower Cap
Hair Dryer (optional)

Scoop out a handful of organic virgin coconut oil. My hair is very thick and long so my scoop has to be extra big. The oil will begin to melt at the touch of your skin, there is no need to heat the oil before application. It will melt as you massage it into your hair.

Flip your head upside down and slowly spread the oil through your hair. Saturate your hair completely, focusing on areas that are dry.

Once your hair is soaked with oil, twist your hair into a bun or ponytail. You can clip it in place by grabbing some hair from your scalp and part of the bun, or use a hair tie to keep it in place.

Cover your hair with a shower cap. You can choose to apply heat or not. Applying heat will open the cuticle of each strand so the coconut oil can penetrate the core faster. Leave the coconut oil on your hair for at least 30 minutes without heat, or 15 minutes with heat. You can use a hair dryer to apply heat over the shower cap. I like to rig a little system so I can sit on the floor and read or play with my kids! If I am busy and need to do other things I will leave the oil on my hair without heat.

Once your time is up wash and condition your hair as you normally would. You may need to wash your hair twice to rinse away all of the oil. I really focus on my roots and try to shampoo my ends as little as needed. Style your hair and be amazed at your soft, smooth hair!

*This treatment can be done as often or little as you feel you need.

Soft Moisturized Relaxed Or Straighten Hair

Relaxed hair can be extremely healthy and long if taken care of properly. Relaxed hair needs just as much love and care as natural hair if not more. The key to having healthy relaxed hair will be to keep it moist. Most relaxed women find it hard to use most oils or hair butters in fear that their hair will be weighed down or left greasy. Trick number one, a little goes a long way when it comes to applying products to your hair. Try to use light oils that aren’t so heavy like rice bran oil, grape seed oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil or sweet almond oil. Applying a dime size amount to your hair in about 4 sections will ensure that your hair won’t become greasy or limp. The same method goes for moisturizing, oils do not moisture only seal ,so you will need to incorporate a creamy leave in conditioner to your hair regimen.

Try to find light leave ins to moisturize your hair and apply them from root to tip before sealing your hair. It is absolutely vital for relaxed women to protect their hair at night using a satin bonnet or a satin scarf this will ensure that your hair is stationary and secure. If your hair has a undying thirst for moisture try using the baggy method only on the ends of your hair this can easily be accomplished by putting your hair in a ponytail then using a plastic sandwich bag and a hair band to secure the bag. If you are more of a bee hive type of gal try using saran wrap to cover your hair after wrapping your hair before bed, the thin coating of the plastic will lock and infuse your hair with much needed moisture.

What’s Co-Washing?

(Co-wash) Conditioner wash; washing hair with conditioner instead of shampoo.

Conditioning is essential to having moisturized hair. Conditioners add moisture and help reduce frizz by penetrating and coating the hair follicles. Follow the directions on the bottle and make sure to rinse with cool or cold water instead of hot. This helps lock in shine and moisture. It is also a good idea to use a deep conditioner at least once a week, paying particular attention to the ends of hair, which are the driest and can often split.

How To Co-wash

You need to have a lot of conditioner since you will be washing your hair often using conditioner. Any conditioner will do. However when you deep conditioner your hair you should use a better quality type of conditioner.
You can wash as often as everyday or a few times a week. Washing in the shower is easiest. Just like you would use your shampoo, use the conditioner instead. You want to really saturate your hair with conditioner. The thicker your hair is, the more conditioner you should use. Massage it into your hair well.

Natural Remedies For Itchy Scalp

Itchy Scalp Causes:

Product buildup.

Washing your hair too infrequently is more likely a problem than washing too much, as the scalp rarely dries out.

Allergic to hair color, shampoo, conditioner, or hair products.

Inflammation of the hair follicles or bacterial infection of the scalp can also cause itching.

Itchy Scalp Rinse

Wash your hair with a regular shampoo, avoid any special shampoos that may have harsh chemicals that you do not need to put on your scalp. Mix two parts apple cider vinegar to 1 part water. You can add some essential oils like lavender to help your hair smell fresh if you wish. Apply the mixture to your scalp and massage it into the scalp well. Leave the mixture on your hair for at least 24 hours before you wash your hair again. For best results use unfiltered apple cider vinegar.

Elderberry Natural Blue Hair Dye Recipe

Mix one cup lemon juice with three cups of chamomile tea. Pour the mixture over the dampened strand or stands of hair you want to streak. Sit out in the sun if possible and wait one hour before shampooing thoroughly. This will bleach the areas you want to turn blue. While you can dye darker hair, you won’t get a very strong blue because blue is also a dark color. Therefore, unless you’re a natural blond, start by stripping your own pigment off your hair.

Boil one cup of elderberries covered with water in a saucepan. Add a pinch of salt and let cook for ten minutes, stirring occasionally. Then let the mixture cool.

Apply the elderberry mixture to your hair strands, saturating them thoroughly. Then wrap the hair in plastic wrap and allow the natural dye mixture to sit for at least ten minutes, although you may see deeper shades and better saturation by letting it sit longer up to an hour.

Repeat the process only with less water in the elderberry mixture if your original dye did not give you a strong enough shade. You may have to play around with the concentration until you find what works best for your hair.

*Elderberries can be purchased online or in your local health food grocery stores. You may also use powdered elderberries which can be purchased online or in your local health food grocery stores as well.

Aloe Vera Hair Benefits

If you have permanently dyed or relaxed hair, your hair was first treated with a highly alkali substance to expose and change the hair’s cuticle, and then, it was “neutralized” with a highly acidic substance to flatten the cuticle again. This is a damaging process and slightly acidic hair products are needed to keep the hair cuticle lying flat. Aloe vera juice can be used to balance out your hair’s natural pH balance and reduce frizz, damage and dryness.

Hair Benefits

Reduces dandruff: relieves sore, itchy and flaky scalp

Nourishes and moisturizes: moisturizes and protects both the hair and scalp leaving it soft and shiny

Promotes hair growth: stimulates growth of new and existing hair

Prevents hair loss: slows and in some cases prevents hair loss

* Aloe vera juice can be easily located online as well as health food stores and grocery market places.

Workout Your Body & Hair

Cardiovascular activity such as running, jogging and fast walking increases blood circulation throughout the body including the hair follicles. Improvement in blood flow delivers all the necessary nutrients to each and every cell of the body.

When you workout your scalp will release sweat that contains traces of salt which can dry your hair out, as the moisture evaporates, salt is left behind. Although sweating is healthy, it can damage your hair if left on for long periods of time. Try wearing your hair protective styles like buns, double strand twist or braids when you work out. If you workout more than one day a week you will have to cleanse your hair more often.

Shampoo can be very drying to hair so, it is best to implement the co- washing method to cleanse your hair. Co-washing will add moisture to your hair and help to prevent dryness that leads to breakage. Scheduling your workouts around the days you co-wash will be very beneficial and time efficient.

and able to stand up against the effects of styling, heat and chemicals. Be warned, hemp seed oil does not carry an attractive smell. Adding a few drops of hemp seed oil inside of your shampoo, will allow you to use it, to fortify your hair without leaving its stench behind.
