especially since i only use moments were most of the members are involved

Today marks exactly one year since the Sewol Ferry tragedy in South Korea on 16/04/14.

For those who don’t know about this tragic event, Sewol Ferry was travelling to Jeju Island with approximately 500 or so passengers. around 300 were students and staff of a high school in South Korea who planned to go to Jeju Island for a school trip.

During the travel process from Seoul to Jejudo, the ferry started to tip and began to capsize. The captain of the ferry ordered everyone to stay calm and return to their rooms, which many obeyed, before the captain escaped from the ferry himself with some other crew members.

Rescue boats were immediately contacted and they hurriedly made their way to the sinking ferry. There were a number of passengers who didn’t go back to their rooms and stayed on the deck, waiting for help, and a majority of them were rescued. However, the other 300 passengers who obeyed the captain’s words remained in their rooms until the ferry completely capsized.

During this rescue process, families of the passengers of the ferry hurriedly gathered at the dock where the ferry had departed, hoping with all their might that their family member will return safely, even though the chances weren’t high. To some people’s absolute joy, they are assured that their loved one has returned. But for some others, they are faced with the harsh reality that they may never be able to see their child/sibling/friend ever again.

One mother of a survivor of the ferry shared that she had received a text message from her son, saying: “I don’t know when I’ll be able to tell you this again, Mom, but I love you.” The mother, at the time, was oblivious to the situation, and texted back: “Oh I love you too, my son.” Soon enough she was hit with the tragic news that the ferry was sinking, and quickly made her way there. Thankfully, her son was one of the few lucky survivors.

There have also been other stories shared from the students contacting their parents about the disaster they were involved in, but I’m sure you’ll be able to find them online. (Sorry).

Rescue divers have also shared stories of what they’ve seen while they attempted to retreat the dead bodies of the 300 students, staff and other passengers in the sunken ferry:

- Many of the student’s fingers have all be broken or crushed, most likely due to their attempt to escape the ferry before death hits them.

- Dead bodies of students have been seen to hold hands with each other.

- A boy and a girl have buckled their life jackets to each other, most likely not wanting to part with each other as their lives disappear in front of their eyes. The rescue diver shared that it broke his heart, knowing that he was only able to take one student at a time, forcing him to unbuckle the life vests of these young students.

Just like this, within moments, hundreds of lives have been lost. What makes this event especially heartbreaking is that a majority of the deaths are innocent students. Those students are just around my age, perhaps 1-2 years older. I can’t even imagine what their loved ones are going through throughout past year, knowing that they’ll never see their children again.

The vice principle of the school these students belonged to had also suicided by hanging himself, blaming himself for the cause of these students. The survivors have been going through a difficult time without their friends. The lower grades of the school will have no senior grades to look up to. As reporters visited the school, they have reported that many heartfelt messages had been written on the desks of the students who have lost their lives.

I am crying so much as I write this, and I just ask that everyone should pray for the people who have unrightfully lost their lives like this, and also for the families and friends of the non-survivors. Losing these students are a huge loss to their amazing country, and we should always remember such a tragedy and hopefully learn from this and do better in the future.

This may just be “just another accident” to the rest of us, but please think about it. 300 teenage students killed on their way to a school trip. This is just another level of innocence of undeserved deaths. Imagine if their trip was scheduled for even 1 day later. 300 young lives with bright futures could have continued living, and such a tragic loss wouldn’t have taken place.

2014 definitely wasn’t a great year for many countries, so let’s forget about these tragic events and move on, but also keep them in our hearts forever at the same time. Life goes on so let’s make 2015 better. When there is a chance for an act of kindness, do not hesitate and do it. The students who have lost their lives in the Sewol ferry would have certainly been kind people.

(Also, the captain of the ferry who escaped by himself has been sentenced 36 years in prison, 30 years for the chief engineer, and 5-20 years for the rest of the 13 crew members who escaped from the ferry before, leaving the passengers to fend for themselves.)

Now that I have more time, I want to talk about the new rumors and news that recently came out about the third season of Sense8. The other day a rumor was started in regards to the third season due to an interview with an executive producer who worked on the show - this rumor was a bit malicious.

The rumor determined that the series has been a huge investment for Netflix - especially the second season, which doubled compared to the first season’s expense at $ 9 million per episode - and that the audiences were not as good as other Netflix series - Jessica Jones, OITNB, Strangers Things - which also have big budgets.

It is also rumored that SOME of the protagonists of the series have not signed the new contract yet and that the absence of Lilly Wachowski affected the production because Lana was alone with the project.

Okay, this is all garbage.

JMS is one of the creators of the series so Lana is not alone - He said on twitter that nothing is known at this point, but said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the series renewal. It must be clarified that this rumor has been given by an EXECUTIVE PRODUCER of the series and that this can not be certain after only a few days since the premiere. And on the other hand, NETFLIX is who will make the decision on the subject anyways, not a producer as JMS has said:

Everything is uncertain at this point, and there are many factors that we did not consider before. Netflix expanded to Asia in 2016, and many viewers have recently watched season 1 of Sense8, which will create new viewers in Asia. The same effect can happen for all those new / old global subscribers - which increased to almost twice as much since the first season premiered in 2015.

On the other hand, it is possible that some actors have not signed the new agreement for several reasons. [Not confirmed 100%] We could know that Jamie, Tina, Toby and Miguel Angel all came together at the end of February to extended their contracts until June - So in June they will need to sign on for the new season if the second is a success. Brian, Max, Tuppence and Doona were not at that meeting.

But Max was at the Berlin headquarters at the time, doing press for Sense8 and another project - and perhaps signing the agreement as well.

The same could go for Doona - she could have signed at the Netflix headquarters in Asia. And we know she loves working with the Wachowski and has been training a lot in the gym - which is a good sign. It is true that we know nothing of Brian or Tuppence yet, but Brian recently said on twitter that he would be happy to do 20 seasons because he never wants it to end - so you can assume that he has signed on as well. Only Tuppence remains as the outstanding cast member, but she has been working hard and perhaps the lack of time has been a problem to be able to sign.

Personally I think that both during the shoot, and ever since production wrapped, that all of them have shown an extreme amount of love for the show. Everyone is fascinated with the project and I do not think any of them have any problems with renewing.

So what are the drawbacks? Time, for example. For instance, Miguel Angel had to ask for time off during production to return to Spain and record Velvet in it’s second season. They gave it to him without problem and adapted to his schedule. Doona also had to take some time off to do some work for Louis Vuitton. Another problem would be money, but I honestly do not think there are problems with that issue and they will come to an agreement if there is one. - So I think the subject of SCHEDULING is something that takes time to figure out, since they have to take into account so many things like nudity, action scenes, project time, recording time to combine with other projects, etc … Everything is still being decided.

About the rumor that the THIRD SEASON will be the last one is also LIE. The producer from this interview - who I think seems a little silly - speaks from his personal opinion as if it were a confirmed truth. JMS has said that has never determined the duration of a series before - That is, if they make the third season the last, he will make a final adaptation as the last season. The executive producer in the interview never even determined that they were five seasons planned, which JMS has said repeatedly. This tells us a lot, especially since the end of the second season left on a cliffhanger, we can assume that Netflix wants more Sense8.

It is true that Lana did not have her sister during Season 2, but we know from Miguel that Lilly has been very involved in the project and has supported Lana even though she has not participated in it. The reason she took time off in the first place was to go through her transition after she came out as a transgender woman. Her absence probably won’t be permanent, and she may come back for the possible renewal. Besides, Lana loves the series, the characters and her work, so I do not think that LANA was a reason for the third season to be the rumored last. By the way, LANA IS WRITING the new season - possibly finishing writing - which is fantastic news.

Now about the show’s RATINGS, I have been doing calculations. All are mere theoretical facts based on instagram accounts, followers and comparison with other series - Game of Thrones, Orange Is The New Black or House of Cards. I’ve had a lot of data taken into account to get these numbers, but I REPEAT, it’s all THEORY.

Based on different data, Sense8 has an average of 3.2 million viewers in the US per episode - and added 6.4% subscribers to Netflix. With this percentage I have added the rest of countries giving me a total of: 5 million viewers globally per episode - without regard to ASIA, since there is no exact data on this territory yet. So maybe we could be talking between 5.5 or 10 million viewers. Are they bad figures? Well since Jessica Jones has 4.8 million viewers per episode in the US, then this is not bad at all. Not the best, but not bad either.

All of this is a mere theoretical study. You have to take into account the data that I do not even have access to; like the opinions of each region, exact number of subscribers, advertising, improved product visualization, etc. … A prime example of what I’m talking about is in regards to MASTER OF NONE. In spite of the fact that in Spain it had a bad review - or had (the stars on Netflix disappeared) - it was still renewed. In the US it has been seen by 3.9 million people per episode and is considered a success. This shows that in each country a certain show works differently, In Brazil with fewer subscribers there are more viewings of Sense8 than the US.

On the other hand, Netflix releases all of the episodes at once, but this does not mean that everyone watches all of them at the same time. There are some people who take months to watch a series. A good example of that is the fourth season of OITNB. In its first month in the US it was only seen by 664 thousand people, yet now it is supposed to be one of the most watched series on Netflix.

To add onto the list of potential problems, THE DUBBED VOICES could be one. In Spain there is a protest going on at the moment, and the series is not being completely understood because the dubbing is in LATIN AMERICAN and not in SPANISH (Castillan). This is probably the main reason why the Spaniards will have to wait until the protests cease.

Finally, I do not like the idea that NETFLIX does not promote Sense8 as it does with other series. I don’t know why this happens. Maybe Sense8 takes care of its own advertising.

This budget is also influenced by the income of product placement. This is a form of advertising, where a brand appears incognito in the series as part of the plot. Examples: Fuchs team is Nike or Joong-Ki’s car is a Mercedes or the kind of Whiskey that Felix drinks. - That type of advertising is sometimes based on giving the product out for free, or at a lower price. There are even brands that pay for them to appear in the show. Sense8 has many expenses, but a lot of them are covered by this kind of advertising.

How about the renewal? For me all of the factors involved indicate that yes, we will have a third season. But we will probably have to wait a couple of months to find out. This month will be the observation of social media & reviews, in June the agreements and presentation of the project will be discussed, and in July we should get the official statement. Netflix has acted like this for other series as well, and I think this will not be the exception.

If you have more doubts like these, or about the plot, characters, or Kalagang … You can always ask me here:

Thank for all @ww-n-double-d you are my favorite american sensates!

Beat 1 Interview with Matty

Zane: Do we really need to do introductions, we’ve surpassed that. For those people listening all around the world right now, we capture Matt Healy from the brilliant band The 1975 at a magical time, at a time of transition and of celebration because everything you’ve achieved thus far as a band. Getting towards the end of this touring cycle at some point this year, and feeling like you’ve achieved on album number two. Congratulations man.

skelltales  asked:

AM I THE FIRST ASK? I HOPE I'M THE FIRST ASK! Here's a purely, self indulgent ask. Could I get something with the UF and SF skele bros who's out on a first date with their super sweet, wouldn't hurt a fly S/O to lazer tagging, but when they get there, S/O turns into a raging badass commander, coldly strategizing the best way to win and demolishing the other team? Bonus if the S/O has an evil laugh when they win.

Sorry for the lateness of this one! It’s actually the first ask I got and answered, but Tumblr ate it and I couldn’t get it back… Regardless, I’ll do my best to make it even better than the first one ^.^

     ~ Underfell
Sans (Red)

Red really didn’t want to go to laser tag. You’re such a sweet, innocent little thing. What if you never got to get a shot in and started crying in the middle of the match? He didn’t really feel like taking a short-cut out of there just because you were too sweet for your own good. If anything, what if you decided the date was a bust because you were too nice to shoot anyone?! When the two of you ended up on different teams, the sweat was pouring down his skull.

For the first minute or so of the match, Red merely spent his time trying to find you. He didn’t get shot once, but had gotten ten or so hits already. However, despite how hard he tried, he couldn’t find you! While he was taking a break and leaning against one of the arena pieces, his vest beeped loudly, signalling a hit. Maniacal laughter sounded above him before you appeared, having jumped off the arena piece. Within moments, several members of your team appeared and your expression went stone cold. Commands flew from your mouth and they ran off without second guessing a word. As they ran off, you shot his newly reactivated vest, thanked him for taking you, and took off again.

After the match, your team was congratulating you despite the fact the different persona you’d had in there was nowhere to be seen. The second you had returned the vest and gun, a bony hand wrapped around your wrist and you were suddenly in Red’s room. “wanna use that commandin’ voice a’ yours now, doll?” If it gets passed kissing is completely up to you, but you don’t get to leave that bed for the rest of the day.

Papyrus (Edge)

Edge was bragging about how great he was going to do the entire time you two headed over there. He mentioned that he was the king of laser tag, and of course your team would win! The Great and Terrible Papyrus was here! As your team headed in, he told everyone that he would be in charge and not to question your presence because “MY DATEMATE IS THE KINDEST CREATURE ALIVE. I DO NOT KNOW WHY THEY THINK IT IS OKAY TO BE LIKE THAT, BUT THEY COULD NOT HURT EVEN A MEASLY BUG.” As he continues on to tell everyone how great he is, the timer starts. You’re shivering, feeling the anticipation, and Edge casts sidelong glances at you.

The second the match begins, your spine straightens and your face hardens. Commands fly from your lips at a rapid pace, and everyone, including Edge, rush to follow them. It’s a good thing it’s dark in here, because his hands are shaking. Throughout the entire match, you flash in and out of the darkness, giving orders and taking down your enemies with practiced shots.

As everyone leaves the arena, maniacal laughter is escaping you. It continues as the score board appears and you have the highest score of anybody - the best accuracy at 100%, best ‘kill’ number at 74, et cetra. In fact, you don’t return to your normal sweet self until the gun and vest leave your hands. You’re going to need to go find Edge though. He’s so surprised that his bones are audibly rattling. When he does finally snap out of it, he drags you off to help him create puzzles and schemes. You’re apparently a master strategist, and he’s not letting that get away.

     ~ Swapfell
Sans (Black)

Black is the most excited of the four. He’s bouncing with energy the whole time, forcibly pulling you into the laser tag hall. He’s so excited to show you how amazing he is (not like he really has to), and he can’t wait any longer! Honestly, though, he prefers Paintball. The only reason he chose laser tag was because he didn’t want anyone shooting real bullets (read: paintballs) at you. He gets your vest and gun for you, not even bothering to ask if your know how to put any of it on or use the gun before he ‘helps’. As the teams are decided and everyone goes inside, he starts giving out commands. It quickly devolves into a yelling match as your other teammates argue because he’s orders make no sense.

As the buzzer sounds, you force your way into the middle of the group and start yelling commands. Every shuts up and listens, except for Black. No… Black is too busy being in complete shock to even move. His eyelights follow you around as you bounce around and give more commands. As it stands, he doesn’t move until you tackle him out of the way of an approaching gunner. You shoot the incoming enemy while laying on top of him. Once the man runs off, you prop yourself a bit and smile down as Black. A blush is working its way across his face and it gets worse when you thank him for bringing you here and give him a kiss on the cheek. Laughter escapes as you shoot someone else who thought the two of you an easy target.

He stays there for the rest match, long after you hop back up and go back to giving orders.

After the match, several of the players go up to you and ask you to lead them during their state championship matches. You merely chuckle quietly, putting your stuff away and going back to Black. You’ll have to take off his stuff and bring that back, too, because he’s still dealing with his shock still. By the time you come back, he gives you a big hug and tells you how amazing you are (also that since you had such a good time, you obviously want to go another date so he’ll text you with the info).

The next day, Black shows up with a suitcase full of guns for you. Someone stop him.

Papyrus (Rus)

Rus only decided to go because you really wanted to. He’s not a huge fan of things that involve guns, especially if you are also involved, but he won’t argue with what you want to do. You’re his goddess, and whatever you say goes. As the vests light up, signalling teams, he starts trembling. He was willing to deal with fighting with you, but against you?! As everyone takes their places inside the arena, he decided that he’d just find you and watch your back anyway. You were much more important than some stupid match.

As the alarm sounds, beginning the match, Rus takes a short cut to your side of the arena. Where he expected to find you and some teammates hiding behind some set pieces, he finds nothing. He did, however, hear evil laughter sounding throughout the area. Starting to feel a bit concerned, he moved to head through the middle when you flashed by, vaulting over a set piece taller than him, two teammates behind you. You shot two enemies, turning quickly to shoot him. A wave later, you were back to your laughter and commands. If he focused hard enough, he could hear your cold commands flying throughout the field.

Rus got the worst score, but he didn’t care. There was really only a few thoughts on his mind. He wanted to date you forever. Gods, you were quickly becoming even better than a goddess in his mind. He hadn’t even thought that was possible??? The biggest thought he had though, was when he’d get to hear that commanding voice of yours directed at him.

#helpless (hamilton, a writeup)

I’ll use you as a warning sign

That if you talk enough sense, then you’ll lose your mind

And I’ll use you as a focal point

So I don’t lose sight of what I want

I’ve had my head hung low, avoiding eye contact with anyone who felt the need to add their two cents in on what happened between Y/N and I the other morning. I wish I knew what to say to change the situation and make it better, she is my best friend after all and it’s no surprise that I miss having her around but I knew time is what she needed and I had to respect that. No matter how much I didn’t want to. Of course I still felt like the biggest jerk on the planet for it but I couldn’t help that my heart pathetically belonged to a girl who probably didn’t seem as anything more but another member of the pact.

BTS going to gay pride march with their straight girlfriend

A/N:  I believe that when their girlfriend is involved and passionate about something then they will support her 100%. It kind of difficult to write this because on one hand I am so excited to see a request like this. Our Pride festivities are coming up here in the next month where I live and I am so excited. As someone apart of the LGBTQ+ this is so important to me and I really wanted to portray that in this request because I appreciate our allies more than I have words to describe. But  on the other hand the hard part is giving each member a unique way of showing their support to their girlfriend. It doesn’t help that I am struggling with a bit of writer’s block (it’s not easy adulating especially when the bad thoughts come back to haunt you) and it pains me so much to not give you all the posts you deserve. So please let me know if you would like me to do this post differently.

This wonderful beautiful person was totally going with you. He had food packed, sunscreen applied and is ready to go. Your passion for LGBTQ+ has transferred to him to an extent. He has always been supportive even though where he lives is not very tolerant. So when you asked him to join you on the march he hesitated for a moment before agreeing with a smile. He would even call a couple of the members to see if they wanted to join you.

So yes he would actually prefer to stay home with you and cuddle all day as this is really his only day off but you were so excited about the march and he loved to see you happy and excited. Will he does not claim a title for sexuality (despite the certain legendary lyrics about men and women and Hong Kong) but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be right there beside at the pride march. Because if something is important to you, then it is important to him.

Hoseok is not a fan of loud noises, and while crowds are a given no matter where he goes he doesn’t necessarily enjoy being in them. So when he declined joining you it wasn’t because of the cause. It took him a moment to explain that though because he didn’t want you to think he didn’t support you or the LGBTQ+ because he did. But when he did explain you were relieved and asked him if he would go if you could find a place that wasn’t as crowded and maybe get a few of your friends to join you to act as buffers to keep people at a bit of distance from him.  You understood how unnerving crowds can be especially since he is used to having body guards or managers to keep most people from getting to close. After you explained your plan he agreed  happily.

He is so absolutely proud of you. All of your involvement in the LGBTQ+ rights has inspired him. You know the dangers of being involved in this especially since there is such controversy about it and yet you continue to work so hard. He loves your dedication and he doesn’t even hesitate when you ask if he would join on a march, he agreed instantly. He considers himself a modern person and he wants everyone to have equal rights. He has gone toe to toe with a few people on the topic but it has never been something as large as a pride march.

Jimin is so supportive of you in every way possible and this includes going to a pride march. However he is wary of a pride march because what if something happens? Yes they are supposed to be peaceful but people… people are cruel and can say or do horrible things. When you asked him to join you, you were surprised when he said he needed to think about it. Not only does the his mean if he is recognized it would reflect on the group but it could really be bad for the group of he gets hurt. He finally voices his concerns to you when he just can’t stop the thoughts from going around and around. You listened and you told him that he did not have to go and you would never hold it against him because after all he is putting other people before himself which is essentially what you are doing in the march. He tells you that he does want to go but he he won’t be able to stay for long.

You barely had to mention the march and Taehyung was already excitedly talking about it and how he wants to go to it. You two had spent hours talking out plans and logistics. He became involved in the rights because you were so passionate about it. While yes he had supported LGBTQ+ because it is impossible to believe that the many many many Armys would be all straight and he would always support Army. So when you began to talk about the rights one day he realized that he could help out more than just say he supports them.

He would be all for it. Honestly he wouldn’t of really thought of why they were going to a march he was mostly going to because you asked. You could ask him do anything and he would pretty much do it. He knew this was important to you and he wanted to care about the things you care about so he put in quite a bit of effort. It was adorable to see his bafflement when he was trying to keep some of the different sexualities straight but he did learn them and in the process he became more and more concerned for the LGBTQ+. By the time the day arrived of the pride march he was there for the reason of the march not just because you asked.

I hope you enjoyed this! So that I don’t unknowingly hurt someone’s feelings the reason I am thinking Jungkook would react the way he did is because of his age and the fact he became an idol at such a young age. He has been sheltered for a long time so there are things that take a little longer to process.

On “I Didn’t Leave the Democratic Party, it Left Me.”

Without fail, a few times a week I hear someone who claims to have been a Democratic voter say, “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left me.”  This is almost always said as a rationale, a justification for voting for Trump or not voting at all.   It is also almost always said by a white male.  A lot of the times, they either are or were in the manufacturing sector and/or a member of a union.  They blame the loss of jobs in their field that have either affected them and/or their family and friends on the Democratic Party.  They also blame the Party for the decline in union membership and anti-union bills passed in once proud union states like Michigan and Wisconsin.  Whenever I hear these complaints, I ask for specific examples of exactly how the Democratic Party betrayed them.  So far, I haven’t received a single specific from anyone that can’t be disproved by my eight-year-old and Google.  All I get is a reiteration that the Democratic Party left them or right-wing talking points about the Democrats being the party of “corporatists.” When I ask them to explain how Democrats are supposed to push pro-union bills when many union members themselves vote for Republicans or how they are supposed to alter the inevitable changes that arise from globalization, they hem and haw and end up not saying a damn thing.

The Democratic Party didn’t leave these folks.  These folks left the Party for a number of reasons.  One reason is because they, like most Americans, are intellectually lazy, especially when it comes to knowing and understanding how their government works.  They don’t understand or care to understand how laws are made, what can and can’t be done because of legislative rules, what can be legitimately done at any given moment in time due to the makeup of the legislative bodies involved.  This situation isn’t unique to ex-Dems, the far-left also suffers from being severely civics challenged.  They expect, demand, and want FDR-like progress without the very large progressive majorities FDR enjoyed every single term in office.  This same unrealistic demand applies on the state level, as well.  If people who claim to be progressives don’t vote for progressive majorities, then they shouldn’t bitch when things are not as progressive as they’d like.  I know this sounds simple, but it seems to completely elude a whole lot of people.

When I ask these ex-Dems whether or not they voted or Democratic candidates in the 2010 and/or 2014 midterms, they almost always say, “No.”  I don’t know exactly how the Democratic Party left people who didn’t support it.  I really don’t know how allowing Republicans who are anti-union and all for shipping jobs overseas to have power is a reasonable response to wanting pro-union, less globalization.   If I’m ever able to get an answer about this, it usually ends up being something along the lines of, “to teach the Democrats a lesson.”  This is the same stupid mindset from many on the left during the 2010 midterms with regard to what they perceived were sleights with regard to health care and Wall Street reform.  How’d that “teach them a lesson” thing turn out?  As far as I can tell it led to the rise of the Tea Party, Democrats losing many states including blue states like Michigan and Wisconsin, the U.S. House of Representatives and most of the political leverage progressives had.  That wasn’t a lesson.  That was political suicide which was followed by giving Republicans control of the Senate in 2014 and the White House last November.  This is where I sarcastically slow clap and say, “Bra…..fucking….o!”  You wanted the Democratic Party to do things for you but you didn’t do anything for the Democratic Party.

Another reason these people left the Democratic Party is the same reason a lot of people left-racism/bigotry.  To many of these individuals, unions were great until minorities became members.  Public schools were terrific until their kids had to go to school with “those kids.”  Living in the city or suburb adjacent areas was fine until “those people” started moving in.  Make no mistake, White Flight isn’t something unique to conservatives.  Many so-called “progressives” bolted from their neighborhoods once it started getting ethnically diverse.  The beliefs, attitudes, mindset behind progressive White Flight are the same behind, “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left me.”  Anyone who claims differently doesn’t know a damn thing about anything, especially political history, voting patterns, sociology, psychology, belief systems….

The Democratic Party hasn’t won the majority of the white vote since 1964.  Now, why is that?  What happened in 1964 that would cause white voters to turn away from the Democratic Party?  Was it, A) the government outlawing the poll tax?  Or, B) Barry Goldwater winning the Republican presidential primary nomination?  Or, C) the last Looney Tune cartoon produced by Warner Bros.?  Or, D) the passage of the Civil Rights Act by Democratic President Lyndon Johnson?  If you say anything other than, “D” you need to be remanded to third-grade history and can’t come back to the discussion until you pass.  The underlying reason for White Flight, for School of Choice, for whites not voting for the Democratic Party is racism. Full…Fucking…Stop!  When people tell me, “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left me, “ what they often mean is, “An awful lot of people I don’t want in the Democratic Party are a major voting bloc in the Party.”  The same reasons behind conservative and progressive White Flight are why the Democratic Party hasn’t won the majority of the white vote since 1964.  It isn’t because the Democratic Party’s stance on economic issues.  It is because, when push comes to shove, too many white voters don’t want to minorities to have the same rights and privileges they do.

Of course, people aren’t going to come right out and say the reason they no longer support the Democratic Party is because of racial issues. Instead, they come up with nonsense claims like, “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left me” or “Democrats have moved too far to the left.”  This latter claim is used by the right, the media, and so-called “Democrats” who think chasing the white vote is a smart, moral strategy.  Former Democratic Senator from Virginia, Jim Webb is the most recent person making the idiotic claim that Democrats have moved too far to the left.  This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who knows  Webb’s political history. Until 2006 he was a Republican.  I wouldn’t expect anything less from someone with such a conservative background to say something different than Democrats have moved too far to the left.  This is why anyone with an ounce of sense can and should completely ignore anything Webb has to say about the Democratic Party.

The political reality is only one party has moved hard towards their extreme and that would be the Republicans.  Read Eisenhower’s 1956 platform and it sounds like it came out of the 2016 Democratic Convention.  You don’t even need to go back that far to see just how hard to the right Republicans have shifted.  Nixon, Reagan, Bush Sr., even W. wouldn’t have lasted two months running for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016.  This shift to the right by Republicans in Congress is well researched and documented.  Since the early 70s, the majority of Democrats have pretty much stayed in the same just left of center grouping while Republicans in the Senate, but especially in the House have moved sharply to the right.  To say, “Democrats have moved too far to the left” isn’t backed up by the data.  If the gap between the majorities of the two parties was four spots on the political spectrum in the 70s and now it is ten, this doesn’t mean each has shifted three spots.  What has happened is the left has shifted one spot and the right has shifted five.  It is intellectually lazy to look at the difference between four and ten and say, “both sides have moved equally apart.”  There are no Tea Party equivalents on the left.  Jim Webb and others saying, “The Democrats have moved too far to the left,” is complete bullshit.

Progressives love to point out white privilege when it applies to conservatives.  Of course, it is low hanging fruit. What many white progressives are not very good at is recognizing and admitting their own privilege and how their beliefs and actions undermine the very ideology they claim to believe in so strongly. Progressivism is about equality, justice, and fairness with no fine print, no fucking asterisks.  If you aren’t standing up and fighting for the rights of those in society who have been and are denied them to one degree or another, stop pretending you are progressive in order to make you feel good about yourself.  Don’t blame the Democratic Party for being the only one of the two major political parties that stands up for these things because you don’t have the mental or intestinal fortitude to do so yourself.  Don’t say, “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left me,” when what you really mean is, “I’m uncomfortable with the Democratic Party prioritizing the most vulnerable in society over my white privileged ass.”  There are actually white supremacists at the seat of power in our country right now.  So-called “progressives” who aren’t adamantly standing up and fighting for those most at risk from the quasi-fascist right may say they were Democrats, but at best they were fair weather fans who, if they were honest, would say, “I’m perfectly fine with progress as long as it is focused on my wants and needs and not on people who really need it.”  This is what it really boils down to whether progressives want to admit it or not.  If you want social/economic change, you have to vote for the party that is your best chance to get it, not the party that is completely against it.  The more you vote for and elect Democratic candidates, the more they will have power.  The more power they have, the more they can enact change.  It is See Spot Fucking Run for anyone smart enough and honest enough to see it.

Brief Analysis On All Jun Ships

Half because there’s been a period of time where people were worried about Jun being an “outcast” of sorts in the group, and that the members dislike him, all his ships are one-sided, etc. Hopefully this post will lessen your worries if you still have them, I mean, that concern aroused quite a while ago and things have evidently become better.

Half because I simply have no life.

“Analysis” is under the cut.

Tips for Helping Out Disabled Coven Members

So, as a disabled Wiccan and Witch myself, my coven started off not sure how to accommodate my requirements. There are lots of parts of traditional coven practice, especially in certain traditions, that are not immediately accessible to people with disabilities (especially movement, muscular and joint disorders). This is a quick, non-exhaustive list of things you, your coven, your friends, your group or otherwise can do to help make things more accessible for your disabled members, and as a physically and mentally disabled Witch myself I found these very helpful.

Physical disabilities

Physical disabilities are usually quite obviously an issue to able-bodied people, even if only by the change in someone’s gait, diet or similar. However, accommodating for them is not always intuitive, especially for invisible disabilities such as pain disorders, and so it’s important to ask two questions:

  1. “Is it OK with you if we talk about your disabilities?
  2. “What accommodations do you need, and how can we help to provide them for you?”

Assuming your member is OK talking with you about their conditions, then follow up on their comments as best as you realistically can. If they’re chair-bound, consider making your venue wheelchair-accessible and easily reached by road access. If they need to take regular injections or do blood tests, try to ensure there’s a safe location for them to do so without risk. Here’s a short list of ideas you may want to consider, if you have a physically disabled member who’s unsure of how to proceed:

  1. Choose your venues with your least able members in mind at the time; if a member is on crutches, long walk and stairs should be avoided as much as is practical. If a member is wheelchair-bound, make sure the venue is ground floor or has lift access and is as close to a road or other easy access point as possible.
  2. If your group activities for the day include energetic movements (such as circle-dancing), consider how someone who may be unable to jump or make rapid motions could engage. Consider ways to compromise before scrapping the plans entirely; if the activity involves circle-dancing, consider joining hands in a circle and swaying. Ask for their input on what they can and cannot do, since at the end of the day they’re the one with the condition.
  3. If a member requires regular rest breaks, try to incorporate them into the structure of the event if possible. Perhaps organise your rituals into 30-minute blocks rather than solid 3 hour sessions, and in between have breaks for some water and a reflection on each part. Alternatively, ask if there’s a specific part of the ritual that the member would most like to participate in, and suggest ways of allowing discreet breaks in-between without disrupting the flow.
  4. If it’s appropriate, consider working WITH a person’s disabilities to add variety to rituals. This isn’t necessarily a good idea for every disabled person - many of us do not want to be reminded of our conditions, among other reasons - but for those who want to take pride in their diversity this might be a great way to add it! Talk this one over though, because this is an especially personal decision to make.
  5. Most importantly, if a disabled member would simply rather sit out of a ritual, don’t shame them for it! I’ve unfortunately had the misfortune to meet some Wiccans (mostly older) who shame disabled Wiccans for not participating in frankly inaccessible rites and rituals. They acted like it was their fault they were too tired or too immobile or too unstable to participate fully, and it’s not OK to do that kind of thing. Disabilities are nobody’s choice. Nobody wants to be disabled. Don’t act like someone is lesser for being disabled, and especially don’t target those who are unable to work as “freeloaders”. This is utterly unacceptable, so do not accept it from others and certainly don’t do it yourself.

Mental Disabilities

Whilst physical disabilities are usually (not always) apparent to others after knowing someone for a while, even nominally invisible ones like RSD and other pain disorders, mental health conditions are sometimes harder to obviously detect but may be even more devastating. Additionally, many people who have some kind of physical disability can develop depression, anxiety and similar due to the stress they encounter in life from their conditions, and people with mental health issues can sometimes develop physical conditions through prolonged mental stress, so the two very often overlap. Physical conditions require certain physical accommodations, and likewise mental conditions require mental accommodations (and sometimes physical too).

Mental health conditions and disabilities are often highly stigmatised, especially publicly infamous and often misunderstood conditions such as schizotypal and schizophrenic disorders, dissociative disorders, and most spectral disorders such as (but not limited to) autistic spectrum disorders. To that end, I must remind everyone that the most important element of accommodating mental health conditions is privacy. If someone trusts you enough to talk to you about their mental health conditions, don’t betray that trust by talking to others about them without their permission! Even if you think you’re helping them out, it can be absolutely devastating to have someone else shouting about your disabilities in public, especially when you could be unfairly judged, discriminated against, stigmatised, or victimised as a result. Always ask permission before sharing a person’s medical history, especially for mental health conditions. Also, again remember that power should be given to the person WITH the disabilities, so remember to ask the questions above.

  1. Tell your members ahead of time what is planned, so that those who need to can choose to opt out if it might trigger an episode or if it would be impractical. This is especially important if you have people with PTSD in your group, since triggers are often things that others wouldn’t think about such as (but not limited to) bonfires, drums, or crowds.
  2. Avoid things that are likely to be triggering from the word go. Triggers are complex things, and those with stress disorders aren’t always going to respond in the same way to the same thing. So, whilst it’s always necessary to inform everyone of what’s planned for the event beforehand, it’s also a good idea to simply try to avoid things that are very commonly triggering during the planning stage so that people don’t have to sit out.
  3. Provide a quiet space away from the main group for those with sensory processing or sensory integration disorders. Those with sensory disorders can often become overwhelmed by large quantities of sensory information delivered all at once, and in those moments it’s important to allow them to destress and decompress in a quiet, dimly lit environment with sensory input that they can control and choose to use or ignore. This may also be suitable for those with ASDs or similar conditions that can result in overloads.
  4. Aim to design rituals as suitable for disabled members from the ground up. This isn’t just for those with mental health conditions, but is really for anyone with any kind of disability. However, I’ve put it in this section because I feel that able-bodied, non-mentally disabled members may need a little extra reminding when thinking about those who don’t have obvious physical disabilities. Try to design your rituals as being suitable for disabled members from the very beginning. It’s much easier to design accommodations into the main plan, compared to trying to finnick in accommodations at the last minute when you realise you forgot someone.
  5. Listen to your members’ requests! This post is just a very brief list of some of the more obvious things you may want to consider when trying to accommodate disabled members, but the most important person to listen to are the members themselves. If someone has an accommodation they’d like to talk over with you, hear them out and consider how it can be best implemented without compromising the overall integrity of the event. Your members are your ultimate resource.

So that’s it! This is by no means an exhaustive list, so remember to ask someone if you are unsure of how to accommodate them.

Resistances and Dalliances

Chapter 1: Stormy Skies

“You did what?” Evfra demanded, leaning fists onto his table as he loomed over it towards Ryder. Aya’s peaceful, bright sky seemed entirely out of place behind that dark expression, just a hair’s breath away from throttling her, she was sure. He had sent everyone out reluctantly at her request, but seeing his face she wasn’t sure if it had been prudent after all. Private matter or no, she wanted witnesses around her suddenly with him in that mood.

Don't we all long for that glorious moment when you show people from your past that they were wrong?

Back in high school I had a HUGE crush on the “mysterious” guy in the class above me. Let’s call him Tom. He was waaaaaaaaaay out of my league so by some screwed logic I figured I had nothing to lose and started talking to him one day. Lo and behold, we became friends and I started hanging out with his group of friends most days after school. Since I came from a small town almost 10 miles away it was great to have new friends to spend time with, or so I thought.

As stated I had a huge crush on this guy and it was blood obvious to anyone involved - Tom included. He had already made it clear to me and others that he did not look for a relationship with anyone and this was confirmed by his friends, some of the girls told me that he just had a couple of short relationships during high school and that the girls had been the driving forces behind getting into said relations. Somehow I managed to push my feelings aside far enough to spend time with him as a friend, (God knows how a 17-yearold girl managed that) but I had my angsty, upset and jealous moments for sure…

And then, somehow, we started to spend more and more time together and on a friends Halloween party he actually asked me if I wanted to date him - as boyfriend/girlfriend. I was on cloud nine for sure and as happily in love as only a teenage girl can be. Until our group of friends found out. Their reaction was to “blame” me, saying I made Tom agree to date me, that it would never last more than a few months at best and then he would get bored with me as he had with the other girls and even so far as to once telling me to break up with him and move back home. I realized later that several of them must have had a crush on him at some point or another and then I showed up… Teenage girls can be brutal.

Anyway, most of those friendships crumbled as they tend to do, especially reinforced by the dislike from several members of the group. I got on with my life, school ended and I went through a couple of jobs before ending up as a manager at a local restaurant. I was working an evening shift when two of my old high school friends who had been very vocal about my unpopular relationship with Tom (lets call them Maddy and Ellie) walked in and seated themselves at one of my tables. It must have been at least 5 years since I last met them and even longer since we used to hang out together. I took their orders but they kept on looking at me, trying to figure out if and why I was familiar so I decided to help them out.

“Yeah, you know me. We used to hang out after school.”
Both of them shines up and smiles at me, that way you do when you meet people you have not seen in years or even thought about at all but still want to be pleasant to as to find out what they are up to now and if its interesting. And then Ellie goes
“Yes! That’s it! You’re Meenite! We used to be in the park all the time! And you used to date Tom!”
Oh, that glory, that wonderful glowing sensation of victory that you usually only find in the daydreams of a teenage mind - to have the privilege to be able to experience it for real.
“No, honey. I am still dating Tom.”

The Journal Entry... [Part 1 of 2]

Trigger Warnings: Ablest Slurs, Bullying, Assault, Physical Harm, Humiliation, Invasion of Privacy, Sexual Language, Swearing. [Listen I’m new to trigger warnings, and some of these may be in excess. If so, I’m sorry – just let me know if I screw up and left out some or went overboard. I’m trying to be sensitive to some potential readers out here.]

Listen Along With Me – Music Track(s) I Listened To While Creating This: I actually listened to the whole album “Minutes To Midnight” by Linkin Park while writing this, however these were the tracks I would skip back to sometimes:
”Bleed It Out” Linkin Park
”Leave Out All The Rest” Linkin Park
”Shadow Of The Day” Linkin Park
”What I’ve Done” Linkin Park
Author’s Notes: Alright guys, this is it. I hope you all sincerely enjoy the next several works I’ll be putting forth in the community. I’ll have a upcoming fics/imagines master post coming soon, these will be works that will be coming along in the future so you all will have a better idea of what to expect from this blog.

Depending upon the feed back of this story, I might leave it open for a sequel. So after TJE Pt. 2 is published, send in your feedback and we can talk about it then.

With the introduction out of the way – here’s the synopsis of what this story will be about:

As a writer by heart, you cannot help but write in your journal on a daily basis. Your journal has become almost your lifeline. You even bring it to school and hide it within your locker, sometimes in your backpack and even in-between books if you have to go to the library to study. Seeing your head bent over a table, scribbling away furiously, is nothing new to most people – especially to a certain video and theater production guy who’s curiously been watching you, watching him for quite some time. After a particularly cruel encounter in The Commons makes you flee in humiliation; an ally in disguise finds your journal abandoned on the table and makes a choice to step in…

How Close You Are:    Part 1    Part 2     Part 3

I’m SO happy that you all like my story!! Thank you so much for all the support! XD

Okay. A bit of a long chapter… [I like character development, okay. I feel like I’m looking at a naked individual when I don’t put in some semblance of a backstory or other point of view] So, longest chapter, but lots of Wrench in this one.

Warning: Gets pretty hot at some point. ;3 But not NSFW

Three Days Later

“What the fuck, guys!” Wrench cried in alarm in outrage as his fellow DedSec members, excluding Marcus dragged him away from the pile of destroyed objects in the garage, a product of his feelings regarding Y/N. As of right this moment, the “fixer” was being forcefully dragged from the pile of destruction by Sitara, Horatio, Ray, and surprisingly, Josh. “What the hell?!” Wrench struggled against his four companions, the display on his mask rapidly switching between ! _ ! and @_@. Honestly, Wrench would have fought them… but punching four of his friends didn’t seem appealing at the moment.

Hinata Hajime’s characterization from SDR2 to DR3: an analysis

First of all, I’m not a writer or something like that and I’m not an animator either, so it’s not like I’m a professional figure in these fields but I agree with most of the fandom about the fact that DR3 is a mess. Especially zetsubou-hen/despair arc.

I’m still grateful for the hard work that they did with this anime though, I also understand that it’s not easy meeting all the fans expectations since we’re all different and each one of us has their own personal tastes/opinions.

Speaking for me, the SDR2 cast is absolutely my favourite.

Part of the charm of the SDR2 cast was their involvement in Enoshima’s schemes. Discovering that they were the bad guys was such a twist in the game! I totally didn’t expect it and it left me amazed. I was so curious to see how Enoshima played with their weaknesses, how did she manipulate them, how did she made them all fall in despair.

Zetsubou-hen/despair arc and the brainwashing device totally ruined this, as the former ruined Nanami’s character as well, but I’ll talk about this later.

Many people also complained about Hinata, saying that in zetsubou-hen/despair arc he was out of character. It may be an unpopular opinion but I actually disagree with this.

At the beginning of SDR2 Hinata states that he isn’t that special to *have* to introduce himself and he feels uneasy and embarrassed having to do so. He deliberately chooses not to talk about the reason he’s been chosen by HPA and he says he’s always dreamed to attend it to “feel like a member of society, to become someone he can be proud of, to take honor in himself, to feel part of something bigger than himself” and before his memories get deleted in the NWP he says “until now, I’ve never wanted to admit how painfully ordinary I really am”.

This shows that Hinata already had deep insecurities and self-esteem issues, that he couldn’t accept himself as he was, that he felt almost worthless.

Now, it’s kinda normal for the average teen to have these complexes (not at this extent, though) and we also have to remember that DR is a Japanese game: in Japan society exerts a HUGE amount of pressure on the individual: if you aren’t an accomplished person and/or if you don’t have a prestigious position, basically you’re DAMNED. You’re literally OUT, you’re not a worthy member of the society.

Do you want to be an accomplished person? Do you want a prestigious position? That’s what HPA can give you. That’s all Hinata wants. Having all of these things, to him, it’s what can make him feel proud of himself.

Hinata as we’ve known him and loved him in SDR2 is a smart and logical person who suddenly finds himself literally thrown in a totally nonsensical situation. He’s in front of HPA first, then, without any reasonable explanation, he’s in a tropical island in no time. He doesn’t understand what is going on around him, he trusts no one and he becomes so anxious he gets a panic attack and then, he faintes. This suggests also that Hinata is a very sensible person.

When he manages to recover, the way he reacts to this situation reflects his pessimistic, grumpy, snarky, sassy and sarcastic personality. He has no memories and when he realizes to not remember what talent he’s supposed to have, he starts to get agitated again. He then decides not to give into it for the moment because he still has to understand what’s going on around him, first.

Interacting with the others he often snaps at them and acts sassy but that’s because he thinks to be equals with them, he feels one of them because he thinks he has a talent. This belief makes him feel comfortable enough around the others that he can be himself. But it’s still something that haunts him.

In SDR2 there were a lot of things that kept him busy from the matter, but there were many moments in which he still showed concern about it.

When in Mioda’s free time events she tells him she wanted to help him remember his talent he’s moved by it.

When Komaeda messes around with him in the 4th trial Hinata tells Owari she can punch him even if he previously chose to not give in to Komaeda’s provocations.

When Kuzuryuu at the beginning of chapter 5 asked him what Komaeda meant saying that he was the only one who didn’t rely on his talent, Hinata begrudgingly gave him and the others an explanation that he really didn’t want to give, and he’s annoyed about it.

In the 5th trial when Kuzuryuu remarks that it’s natural that Komaeda relied on his talent because that’s what everybody else did, Hinata looks away uncomfortably.

During the 6th trial he said he’s done with everything, he didn’t even understand why he was involved in a situation like that since he’s different from anyone else and that’s because he doesn’t have a talent.

He also recalled the memory of his former classmates picking on him (despite having these memories deleted, that’s how deeply all of this affected him) for the same reason. This shows that Hinata is easily influenced by the opinions that other people have about him.

In DR3 Hinata is involved in a context and in a situation that are completely different.

He knows he’s a talentless person, he remembers very clearly the nasty rumours about him spread by his former classmates and it makes him feel bad. He managed to be accepted by HPA but he’s not there because he naturally deserves it, not because he has been scouted, not because he could be a main course student, not because he’s talent. Not because he’s worthy.

HPA environment is a toxic one, it didn’t make him feel better as he expected at all, it made him only feel worse, to the point he started to refer to himself as a “lowly reserve course student”. Kamukura’s mindset is a consequence of what his “teachers” thought him: “This world is full of boring people. People without talent stick together and oppress those who do possess talent… Even though they know they’re insignificant, they don’t try to acknowledge their true superiors… They are profoundly desperate to drag them down to their level… And because of these bastards, this world has come to a deadlock. This world has stopped evolving.” or “People without talents are like ticks. Fattening themselves on the blood of the talented, they are ticks, capable only of reproducing”. The main building and the reserve course building are totally divided so that the useless reserve course students don’t mix up with the main course students, the talentful, worthful, useful ones. If you’re a main course student you can go around the reserve course building as much as you like, if you’re a reserve course student and you dare to be around the main course building you literally get your ass kicked. The reserve course students lives mattered so little to this system that the Steering Committee, who were the ones who really held power over HPA, saw them just as lab rats, they weren’t even considered human beings.

The circumstance that brought him there wasn’t neither a normal or a correct one. When the zetsubou-hen/despair arc profiles came out, Hinata’s profile said this:

A student in the reserve school who aspires to attend the main academy. He feels that his life as a talent-less person is boring. He has been accepted to the reserve school and exempted from tuition for meeting certain requirements. The ambition-less attitude of the reserve school disagrees with him, and he often spends time alone.

Basically, Hinata has been blackmailed. If he didn’t accept the compromise of joining the project he would have been kicked out from HPA, the place he always dreamed to attend. He had not enough money to stay there, not enough money to waste for being just a lowly reserve course student.

Tengan told him that he could go back to his old school.

But who’d go back to a place where people are mean to each other for no reason? Why did these guys laugh at Hinata? There was no reason to pick on him like that. He’s an ambitious person, what’s bad about being ambitious? He wanted something better for himself, as a human being he had any right to desire something better for his own future.

Tengan also told him: “Do not fear normalcy”. Well, that’s exactly what Hinata feared, in fact. Being normal gave him nothing, he was nothing because he was normal.

He knew from his first day at HPA that he had to take a decision about the project. He knew that he hadn’t much time to decide, too.

Hinata isn’t a superficial nor a dumb person and he knew that this decision carried a certain weight with itself. He knew that he would have gotten exactly what he wanted, he’d become a talented, worthful and useful person, his life could have changed forever. It happened but not like he would have thought.

Then, he meets Nanami. He randomly meets a main course student who tells him that that’s exactly because he has no talent that he can become anything he wants, he’s free.

It’s a point of view that apparently Hinata hadn’t considered yet, as focused as he was on the possibility to join the project. We didn’t see him acting as his usual self for this reason: because he had a huge decision to take in a very forceful and toxic environment, of course he had no time to get to know people or to make friends in the reserve course. Lil’ Kuzuryuu too noticed how Hinata seemed spaced out from their classroom because he was busy staring at HPA main course building 24/7.

He really desired to be part of the main course, but he didn’t fully trust the Steering Committee either. In fact, we saw him doing some research at the beginning of the 3rd episode.

This is important too: Hinata doesn’t trust people around him that easily. Sometimes he doesn’t even trust himself.

In SDR2 as soon as Monokuma says that in order to escape from the island they have to kill each other, Hinata istantly becomes wary of all the others saying that he couldn’t tell what the others could do, that he had nobody to trust but he also thought that he couldn’t tell what he himself could do and the he couldn’t trust himself, either.

In DR3 it’s implied that between the 1st and the 2nd episode of zetsubou-hen/despair arc some time has passed and that Yukizome and Hinata knew each other: Yukizome treated Hinata exactly as if he was one of her students and Hinata did the same, referring to her as sensei and not as Yukizome-san as he did with Tengan whom he called Tengan-san. The point is that when Yukizome asks him if he has a transfer option to the main course he lies. He doesn’t tell her the truth.

Hinata is an introvert who does a lot of mental reflection and keeps things to himself, in SDR2 he doesn’t openly talk to others about how he feels, he just listens to them, in DR3 he tells nobody about the project, he talks about it only with Tengan, a person who already knew about the deal. He doesn’t mention it to Nanami either.

That’s my main issue with Hinata and Nanami’s relationship in DR3.

We see them just playing games and doing nothing else. Hinata isn’t that passionate about videogames in SDR2 but being a teen it’s normal for him to have played some so I didn’t think it was forced for him to actually know about Gala Omega, it could have been a totally random thing for him. That’s not the problem.

If I saw Nanami actually struggling to understand what was going on with Hinata I would have been more satisfied. She sees him complaining about his lack of talent but the only thing she does is just repeat to him what she heard from Yukizome. I’m sure Nanami believed in what Yukizome said but she should have tried harder than that. Her approach to Hinata’s problem was very superficial, she didn’t give the impression to care about him that much. I know she did care about him but what was their relationship based off, again? They actually did what only Nanami wanted, I never saw Nanami bothering to ask Hinata even once “Is there something different you’d like to do, today?”.

I appreciated the fact that they tried to actually develop her character showing that she felt lonely and had a hard time socializing with the others but all of that character development was thrown out of the window just in the following episode.

Two of Hinata’s classmates have just died, one of them was murdered without any doubt, Hinata had a bruise on his chin and he very obviously felt like shit, and what do you do? You ask him to play some new videogames?

Are you fucking kidding me?! I would have slapped her.

To me, Hinata and Natsumi’s relationship was way more genuine.

She saw in him someone who was similar to her and she wasn’t wrong. Hinata Hajime and Kuzuryuu Natsumi were both two ambitious people who wanted something better for themselves, who had no one who could really understand how they felt, because Nanami definitely didn’t understand Hinata’s feelings.

When Natsumi tells him: “You’re always gazing at the Main Course building” he says: “Yeah, so what?” like when Komaeda looked for him in the prologue of SDR2 Hinata told him: “Leave me alone”.

When Natsumi tells him: “It’s not like I have friends either” he says: “Well yeah, if that’s how you say hello to people” (guess who got snarky?) and when she tells him “I do have a talent, I’m the SHSL Little Sister”, Hinata’s like… I mean, look at his face:

Like, “Are you serious? SHSL little sister? The fuck does that mean? Are you kidding me?”.

What I’m trying to say is that Hinata’s been himself only with Natsumi.

When he saw her picking fights with Sato he stopped her, but when he saw her crying he understood her. He understood how lonely she felt, because he felt lonely too. Natsumi is also shown to be a very prideful person, yet she lets Hinata seeing her cry. He tried to comfort her as much as Nanami tried to comfort him, because despite everything, Nanami’s company did comfort him, she was his only friend, a friend from the main course, a talentful person like he wished to be, a person to look up to, an important person.

THIS struck a nerve. Spending time with Nanami was his only comfort, even if they just played some videogames, Hinata found some relief from the pressure of the project and from the pressure of the reserve course staying with her, even if he got annoyed with videogames. As many other people here on tumblr pointed out, Natsumi basically told him he wasn’t worth of spending time with Nanami.

Then add HPA/Steering Committee’s blackmailing, Natsumi and Sato’s deaths, Sakakura’s dickish and senseless beating up (he had good intentions I know, I even like him as a character but I’ll never forgive him for having spat at Hinata, that was really nasty, petty, disgusting and uncalled for), Nanami’s naivety, Hinata’s parents apparent lack of love, care and support, because why the fuck did they sign the documents for the project where there was very clearly written that it would have carried some consequences?! Did their son (only son I presume, since Hinata never mentions having siblings, and this makes it even worse) value less than their fucking money?!

Of course neither Hinata or his parents could imagine the truth but DAMN. Where the fuck were Hinata’s parents?! Did they really care for this poor boy?

Apparently they didn’t give a fuck. This irritated me because at least they could give Hinata some background story. In SDR2 6th trial after having known what happened to the world, Hinata worries for his family, in Owari’s and Kuzuryuu’s free times he says that their lives can’t be more different from his, but we don’t know anything about Hinata’s personal story aside from the fact that he has no talent and that he decided to join the Kamukura Izuru Project. He’s the one we know LESS things about amongst the SDR2 characters. Hell, we know more about Mitarai.

Last thing, his last thought before having his memories repressed.

Many people here on tumblr said: “Wow, Hinata wanted to gain a talent only to impress Nanami, that’s bullshit” and many claimed that they ruined Hinata’s character saying that they gave him the dumbest reason to do it.

I think these people didn’t understand Hinata’s character at all.

He didn’t want to impress Nanami. He wanted to feel worthy of her company, worthy to spend time with her and worthy to be her friend. He had an inferiority complex towards Nanami, because she was a main course student. He thought only of her and not about his family because she was his only friend and because he didn’t know he was going to vanish.

If this isn’t a friendzone I don’t know what it is. Yeah, he blushed around her but I think that it is more because he isn’t a happy-go-lucky guy and he feels easily flustered around girls. He blushed also during their first meeting but she kind of violated his personal space.

Maybe he was attracted to her physically, okay. He also liked her as a person, okay. He told her “You’re not only the SHSL gamer, you have many other good points, too” (I didn’t see them, tho) but he was already grateful to her for being his friend, and knowing Hinata and how much he hates himself, he wouldn’t even dare to have any other expectations, just saying. So, I think Hinata really cared for her, but not in that way. (This is a personal opinion, of course).

In conclusion, I think Hinata’s been perfectly in character in DR3 but the context wouldn’t allow him to behave like he usually does, I would have liked to know more of his personal story and I would have loved it if he got more screentime but I understand that with the Kamukura Izuru Project going on it wasn’t possible.

Side: Hope from Hinata’s point of view satisfied me. He decided to live on exactly as Yukizome used to say “interacting with others, building character and making new memories”. I also loved the fact that he went to see Yukizome for the last time even if he wasn’t one of her students.

I haven’t much to say about Kamukura, actually. I’m satisfied of how they showed him. He’s exactly as I expected him to be. Many people complained that he had no personality, well, what did you expect? That’s the core of his character.

Having no emotions he can’t have a personality. He knows everything and he knows to do everything, that’s all.

Hinata had no talent but he has personality.

Kamukura had no personality but he has talent.

A final note on Nanami: I liked the fact that Nanami realized and pretty much admitted she’d been incapable of helping Hinata at the end and even if I didn’t like her in DR3 I felt sorry for her and I cried a lot when she died. Nobody else in DR died in such a cruel way in my opinion. She had her flows and she pissed me off but she definitely didn’t deserve it. I also accepted the explanation of the AI creation: Fujisaki and Alter Ego may have built the standard observer (I believe that the sleepy attitude and the childish writing style were characteristic of the AI base) but the AI’s final personality was the projection of that person everybody cared for and missed.

This is an analysis I tried to write when an anon asked me what did I think about Hinata’s character throughout all of DR3, in particular how it connected to his arc in SDR2 and his relationship with Nanami. I deleted the answer by mistake but fortunately I managed to recover the text, I couldn’t reblog the post so I re-posted it here.

Fire Emblem Fates: Just Shove Your Children into the Puberty Void

I really wanted to like Fire Emblem Fates. I really, really did.

But there’s only just so much anime I can take, you guys.

Fire Emblem Fates is the fourteenth entry in the long running Fire Emblem series of fantasy, turn-based strategy games. The series has always made itself distinct from other games in the same genre with its strong sense of fantasy aesthetic, its character writing, and smooth, smooth animation, but has always failed to get traction in the West due to its difficulty and occasional iffy mechanics choices. Fates’ predecessor, Awakening, sold very well, however, and proved that there was a place for Fire Emblem in the states, but sacrificed a lot of franchise difficulty, so Fates promised to give an experience that both fans of Awakening and fans of previous Fire Emblems could enjoy.

It… certainly tried. I don’t think it quite got there, but it tried. But there was a lot going on along the way that makes me question what the hell they were thinking.

Fates, ultimately, feels like it’s torn between being a Fire Emblem entry and being a cool light novel that all of the kids will like. There’s a lot that feels like it was cribbed from the latest cheap anime on the airwaves, just for the sake of appealing to people who’re into that. It’s a very weird atmosphere and it doesn’t really fit for what Fire Emblem has previously been. There’s some serious war drama, but there’s also some creepy incest stuff involving your non-blood related siblings and a lot of fanservice. There’s this soap opera stuff involving whether you should be loyal to your birth family or your adoptive family, but also a dimension crossing dragon man’s evil army that wants to destroy the world. There’s DLC gating. There’s a lot of DLC gating.

It’s not a bad game, persay, but… well, there’s a lot to talk about. Let’s dive in.

Disclaimer: All images in this long pile of salt are either pulled from official Nintendo press releases or official art, from Miiverse posts, or from other sources. Every image is a legitimate image from the localization, at least as far as I can tell. There’s exactly one image I ‘capped myself, and it’s because I wanted a good shot of a booty. Otherwise, I didn’t screencap them. Please excuse my laziness.

Let's Talk About Seifer Almasy

One of the things that bothers me the most about Final Fantasy VIII is how the characters in the game treat and view Seifer at the beginning of the game.  I feel that they did him wrong and it really is criminal because, plain and simple, Seifer is not a bad kid.  This is shown throughout the interactions with and scenes about him.

Seifer is flawed.  He’s flawed just like any other person, real and fictional.  This is also what makes him so realistic and just like others in that respect, too.  Seifer is rather simple in that he idolizes characters in films, has big dreams, loves and is loved by others and seeks approval from those that don’t.
