shoutout to george, fred, and especially ron weasley for realizing that harry was stuck in abusive and unhealthy household and, in spite of the massive trouble they knew they could get in, taking immediate steps to personally see him removed from that environment, something no adult in harry’s life did.
*shoving him* Harry wake up! You're going to get in trouble!
*hissing loudly* Mate, really. The new teacher doesn't care who you are or what you've done!
*yawns and sniffles*
*using a Sonorous charm* WELL I THINK THAT'S TWENTY POINTS FROM GRYFFINDOR.
Draco, at the opposite end of the room:
*sits straight up* What's Malfoy up to this time? He stayed in his room for hours last night and I ended up waiting until sunrise to follow him, but then all he did was go take a shower and wank!
*whispering* You--you watched him wank?
*irritably* Well, I have to know what he's up to, don't I?
Hello love, could you rec me your favourite 8th year fics on ao3?
Hello yourself! YES, I can absolutely do this and honestly I feel like I’ve been waiting for this moment my entire life. I am OBSESSED with 8th year fics and I hope I can recommend at least a few you haven’t read already! :)
*warning*: This is an Extremely Long List. It is in literally no order because I love all of these fics so much it is as if they are my own children and I couldn’t possibly rank them
Unexpected Consequences by Lauren3210 (39K)- Harry was going back to school. He was going to play Quidditch, sleep in lessons, hang out with his friends, and generally just enjoy being a kid for a change. And he was also going to do it while being bonded with Malfoy, because apparently life was just going to continue throwing curveballs at him. Harry didn’t know why he expected anything different. This is one of the first fics I ever read and I still remember it clearly; it was THAT good! As an alternative to Azkaban, Draco is allowed to attend Hogwarts provided he agrees to a bond with Harry that makes him to do whatever Harry says. Naturally, once the feelings start this causes a lot of worrying and angst and klsfhd it’s just really really good! Also did I mention they share a private room? I know I can’t be the only one who lives for that.
Right Hand Red by lumosed_quill (73K)- Harry felt Malfoy’s breath on his lips as they came together over the bottle, hands firmly planted on the floor as though they each needed their familiar soil, refusing to cross into enemy territory. Except that Malfoy no longer felt like his enemy. Malfoy felt inevitable. Another of the first ever fics I read (and reread!) and MAN IS IT FUCKING AMAZING. The lust starts right from the beginning and there are *lots* of party games and a secret relationship and sweet moments and teaching of patronus charms and *sigh* I just want to go read it again right now!
Lumos by birdsofshore (41.5K)- Harry never expected to spend eighth year listening to Draco Malfoy wanking. FABULOUS fic in which they are roommates and then Draco wanks and then Harry wanks and then Draco and Harry wank at the same time, and then there are feelings!! A thousand times yes.
Strange Bathfellows by Bixgirl1 (27.5K)- It started with a bath. Or a potions accident. Or maybe it started before that, but who can tell anymore.Featuring: Uncomfortable wanking, more comfortable wanking, mutual wanking, bath sharing, inappropriate betting, secret shagging, those secrets at Hogwarts that everyone knows, and oblivious Harry who knows one thing: he’s falling in love. Harry and Draco being forced to share a bath is everything I never knew I needed until I was blessed enough to find this fic. @bixgirl1 has MANY truly ✨FABULOUS✨ eighth year fics (for example Instruction for a Misplaced Slytherin (8.5K) in which Draco teaches Harry about sex and In Evidence of Magical Theory (43.5K), which features forced bonding) and you should definitely read them all, but Strange Bathfellows remains my favorite! :)
Throughout the series, three running gags that I absolutely adore are: 1) Ron’s constant lack of delicacy towards Nearly-Headless-Nick, and his relationship with food. 2) Seamus setting stuff on fire (a nice nod was made by McGonagall in the eighth film, I was just giggling). 3) When the trio is having long and important conversations, especially in Charms class when Hermione executes spells perfectly, whereas Harry and Ron, well…
The Signs as my Favourite Women in Literature pt. 2 (Earth)
Juliet Capulet (Romeo and Juliet) Juliet
Capulet grows during the play from a naïve, childish girl into a mature woman.
Her most outstanding personality trait is her willingness to do and give up
everything for love. However, Juliet is very responsible and she would never
risk her life if she wasn’t 100% sure. Right when she meets Romeo, she knows
that she wants to spend the rest of her life with him. But different from the
Montague-boy, she isn’t the type to rush things. Juliet knows of the necessity
of staying calm and thinking the situation through. She is normally both kind
and respectful especially in interaction with her mother. Before she meets
Romeo, her actions are mostly driven by logic and her parent’s expectations. But
as her feelings grow undeniable, she changes into a feisty, stubborn rebel with
her own ideas of life and love. From knowing that she can only be truly happy
while being together with Romeo, she gains an inner strength which makes her
stand up to her parents and beginning to handle things her own way. Juliet is
one of the strongest and bravest women in literature, risking everything for
personal happiness, willing to leave everything that’s steady and known behind
for being with the man she loves.
Hermione Granger (Harry Potter) At the
beginning of the story Hermione is a shy, insecure girl. Her steadiest and most
loyal companions are her books, in which she finds comfort. The young witch
absorbs all the knowledge she can find and she is working daily to know a
little bit more than the day before. Determination, patience and hard work make her
one of, if not the most intelligent witch in the wizarding world. As she grows
older, she notices that she can trust and rely on her qualities and she grows
into a self-confident, passionate woman, who always comes up with a plan to a
crisis. She develops a strong emotional connection to Harry and Ron and it is
especially around them, that we see her as a loving and dearly caring friend.
Although people see her as the pragmatic and concerned one of the trio,
Hermione is not afraid of adventure and she would jump right into the most
dangerous situations if it meant she could save the people close to her. She is
very loyal and would probably sacrifice a lot for people or creatures in need
of help. This brave, young woman never gave up on herself and thus grew into
one of the most heroic and admired women in literature.
Antigone (Antigone) At first
sight, Antigone is a rebellious, stubborn woman without respect for the laws of
secular rulers. When it’s said that burying her brother shall be forbidden, her
first instinct is to go and burry him anyway, all by herself. That’s an incredible
act of loyalty, not only in relationship to her brother but also in her duty to
the gods. To get the rightful funeral for her brother is not only a sign of
love towards her sibling but also a rebellion against the damnation of her
soul, which she believes, she would suffer from by betraying the gods and their
laws. To get what she wants, she acts strong, determined and will-full. It’s completely
natural for her to do everything possible to live up to her own beliefs. She
has her own, strict ideas of morals and ethics and everyone stepping out of her
borders of right and wrong, will be defeated by her arguments and philosophical
ideas. Antigone is uniquely powerful for her time and almost superior to others
only through the way she speaks and acts. She is today’s definition of a
feminist. Although mostly hidden by her warrior-self, she is a soft-hearted,
loving woman who craves a stable future with her fiancé Haemon.
Imagine: Draco finding out that you’re staying at Hogwarts during the Christmas holidays, so he decides to join you…
An almost relaxed atmosphere fell upon the school, much needed after such a long term, as the students reminisced over the last night’s banquet and chatted eagerly regarding upcoming plans.
The school was filled with students bustling about, all in a hurry to get home to their families. Even the teachers were grateful for a holiday after the recent events.
As the snow fell outside covering the grounds with white, one lonely Gryffindor girl sat in the Great Hall watching Professor Flitwick enchanting the decorations to hang themselves on the Christmas tree.
“Bye Y/N! Have a Merry Christmas, okay?” called Fred, causing me to turn my head away from the floating baubles.
“And find a way to annoy Snape for us, will ya?” added George as he ran out into the snow after his brother.
I smiled and then laughed. These two always knew how to make me smile. They had even given me tips on how to annoy Professor Snape, who was always around the castle during the holidays.
Not long after, the trio came by, saying their goodbyes and wishing me a Merry Christmas. After a quick chat, with them reassuring that they’d write to me and a final group hug, I watched them depart, out into the snow just as Fred and George has just done not long ago.
I sat back down at the wooden table. It was just going to be me, myself and I for the holidays.
My parents had decided that it would be best for me to stay at school for the holidays, because things weren’t going so well at home. At first I was quite disappointed, but in the past week I’ve had just enough time to brainstorm ways to pass time.
For starters, I could go to the library, I could search for the Room of Requirement that the twins had told me so much about, I could chase down Professor Snape knowing that he couldn’t deduct house points as school hadn’t started.
I let my mind wander until I was interrupted by an abrupt shout from behind me.
I turned around to find Draco coming up to me, pulling a brown luggage with a bag slung over his shoulder. I sighed. It wasn’t that I didn’t like him, but the trio definitely did not approve of him constantly turning up wherever I was.
“Hi Draco,” I said slowly, as he climbed into the bench opposite me.
‘Happy Christmas, Y/N,” he said, overly cheerful.
“What are you doing here?” I questioned him.
“Well, I was about to get on the train, but then I found out that you would be staying here over the holidays, and since there’s basically no one else here for weeks, I decided I should join you.”
“You’re not going home?”
“No, I’m not.”
“And it’s too late for you to go back home now, since the train’s left?”
“Yes, of course, so you have officially become the luckiest witch in the school, because we’re spending the holidays together.”
I frowned. “That’s not…”
“And you don’t need to worry about my parents, Miss Y/L/N, they’ll understand. Now you get to spend time with me without Potter being around” he grimaced upon pronouncing my best friend’s name, to which I had to laugh.
Even though Hermione, Ron and especially Harry were completely against me being friends, if we even were, with Draco, there was nothing I could do to stop myself from laughing sometimes. He could be such a drama queen.
Although Draco wasn’t exactly the best company in the world, at least some company is better than none, I guess.
“Hang on, Draco,” I said slowly, “You couldn’t possibly be jealous of Mr. Potter, could you?” I said with a smirk.
I raised an eyebrow at him.
“No, of course not, Potter has got nothing on me,” he added arrogantly with a hint of agitation.
I laughed, got up and walked around to his side of the table.
“Well, I have a lot of things to do these holidays, so, let’s get started.”
It took him a moment to process my sentence, but then he replied, “Right, ok, just let me go and unpack and then we can do whatever you like, babe.”
“Ok wait, if we’re going to be hanging out, we need rules. And rule number one, do not call me babe.” I said as he got up and placed a hand on his luggage.
“No can do,” he smirked. “Now stay here and I will be back in five minutes, babe.”
I rolled my eyes at his retreating figure and sat back down. For some inexplicable reason I was actually quite glad that he would be staying with me, though I wasn’t going to let him know that.
In a few short moments, the blonde Slytherin ran back into the Hall with a small package in his hand.
“Open it,” he said, dropping it onto the table.
“Is this for me?”
“Just open it.”
I looked up at him once more, before carefully opening the wrapping to find a beautiful necklace with a single diamond rose.
“Draco, I… I don’t know what to say,” I stuttered, looking back at him.
He had the usual smug little smirk on his face, but this time, I didn’t feel the urge to want to wipe it off his face.
“Here, I’ll put it on for you,”
“You really shouldn’t have, Draco.”
“No, no, I wanted to, Y/N.”
“Now you can think of me, even when I’m not around and you’re forced to look at Potter all day.”
I laughed and allowed him to put the necklace around my neck.
“Merry Christmas, Y/N,”
“Thank you, Draco. Merry Christmas. I think we’re going to have a lot of fun here at the castle.”
A/N: I haven’t written Fred in a while and it’s very long for a headcanon( almost 1.9k words!) - I realize it might have been better to actually write a oneshot. If I ever feel inspired enough, I might do so
Things have been odd between Harry, Ron and Hermione (but mostly Harry and Ron, tbh) for some time now, especially after the last detention with Malfoy… can Ginny help sort things out, or will Ron only become more confused? And what is going on with Harry-and-Malfoy?
991. After the war, Harry and Ron ask the Hogwarts school board to forbid students from bringing in their own brooms for Quidditch matches (to keep the richer families from buying an advantage with more powerful brooms) unless they have valid excuses like medical reasons. In exchange for giving all the Hogwarts Quidditch teams high quality brooms to use for matches and practice, Harry and Ron offer to help advertise the broom companies by being seasonal spokesmen for their ads.
I was so excited to read Cursed Child, I bought it as a late birthday present for myself, but I was so let down. It just felt as though it was made purely for fan service and almost like a childish version of Harry Potter. So many of the characters where ruined (especially Ron and Harry). However, the best thing about it is definitely Draco and Scorpius. I would absolutely hate it if it were made into a movie.
So this started out as a Drarry Advent drabble but turned into a full blown Muggle Au Barista!Harry story and I loved it too much to wait until December to post it. This is for my lovely @justanotherdrarryblog who loves coffee and barista!Harry.
It has been an unbelievably busy day, Harry thinks to himself as he takes a deep breath and foams the milk for what feels like his one thousandth latte of the day.
“Hang in there, Harry. Just half an hour more and we’re off for the day,” Ron says good-naturedly, clapping him on the back as he passes him by, heading towards the register.
“Easy for you to say mate,” Harry responds with a shake of his head. Ron doesn’t say anything, just waggles his eyebrows at Harry who sticks his tongue out when no one is looking before going back to making the coffee.
He reaches his right hand out towards the stack of drink cups waiting to be made, picking up the empty paper cup closest to him, ready for his next order. But as he reads the side he can’t help but frown a bit at the ridiculously long list of instructions on the side of the cup which read - 4 shots, whole milk only, two shots of hazelnut syrup, one shot of vanilla syrup, half a pump of classic (added before the shots), extra hot, add whipped cream.
As quickly as possible he fills the order, trying not to make much of a face when he yells out “Draco, your order is ready”, as he sets the drink on the small counter. He can’t help but wonder what the hell kind of name Draco is anyway.
“Did you follow the instructions specifically?” He hears a voice utter, with a rather posh accent.
“Of course I did. I do know how to read,” he replies automatically, unable to keep the sarcasm out of his voice, and not even bothering to look up until he hears a rather loud tut tut.
“Gracious me, what kind of manners are they teaching their employees to have here? The customer is always right you know.”
Harry finally looks up at that, an annoyed frown marring his features as he takes in the man in front of him. He can’t stop himself from looking him up from head to foot, taking in his perfectly tailored suit and fancy shoes to the way his impossibly blond hair falls softly into his grey eyes, such a strong juxtaposition to his otherwise rigid look. As Harry stares he can’t help but wonder how it’s possible to be so pale, and if hair that blonde is even natural. He’s all sharp angles with his pronounced jawline and sharp eyebrows, and he is so ridiculously handsome and put together all it does it make Harry grumpier.
“See something you like?” The man says with a laugh, raising his eyebrow to smirk at him and Harry has the decency to blush crimson.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Right, course you don’t. See you tomorrow coffee boy,” he says, raising his drink to his mouth and winking at Harry as he takes his first sip.
