My Lip Augmentation Journey
Thank you for following me into the world of cosmetic procedures. Lip fillers have always fascinated me. I fell in love with Charlotte Cosbys lip transformation and wanted to find out more. Whilst researching it wasn’t hard to come across the King of lips Dr Esho.
As a make up artist that loves Lip Art I felt myself drawn into lip cosmetic procedures. I did become frustrated that I couldn’t find the answers to questions I wanted to know. So I decided to contact Dr Esho at Le Beau Ideal and find out for myself and in turn help you if you are considering the procedure.
1. What formula did you have?
Every doctor has a favorite formula they like to use. Dr Esho believes that the easiest and most natural temporary filler is hyaluronic acid (HA) such as Restylane.
2. What if I have lip fillers and don’t like how they have turned out?
Hyaluronic Acid isn’t permanent, your dermatologist can inject an eraser enzyme called hyaluronidase. The enzyme will dissolve the filler in five minutes if you’re unhappy with the initial results.
Check out Le Beau Ideal on Instagram for some examples of botched lip fillers Dr Esho has corrected. Again I can’t tell you enough to make sure you go with the right Doctor. You should only see a professional, such as a dermatologist, plastic surgeon, or nurse practitioner. As with any cosmetic procedures, it is vitally important you do your research.
3. How much does it cost you?
It can cost from £400 for the procedure, depending on the doctor and region you live in. Either way, start saving your pennies if you want your lips plumped for a long period of time. Fillers can last from anywhere between four months to 12 months. If your body has a higher metabolism the formula may fade faster meaning the injections won’t last as long.
4. Does the procedure hurt?
You can choose to have your lips numbed beforehand with a dental nerve block or a topical anesthetic that I had in my first procedure. (See YouTube video) Dr Esho numbed the area around my lips, injecting into my gums (Just like a dentist would) or you can opt for a numbing cream. Once the numbing takes place, you feel a pinching sensation.
5. When did you see results?
If you followed my Snap Chat (My Add: karlamakeup) story you will see the results were immediately visible. Your lips will be a little swollen at first, but you will see the effects of the fillers pretty quickly. After 24 hours your lips will begin to settle and the swelling will reduce. The results are visible but they don’t feel any different, not even when you are smooching!
8. How long does a lip procedure take?
The procedure lasts around 20 minutes; the numbing will start to wear off 15 minutes later.
9. Can I resume my normal activities after lip augmentation?
If you chose to have dental blocks it can take up to 3 hours for the numbing to calm down. You can go about your daily life afterwards but shouldn’t make any big plans (like a wedding or an important event) for at least three days in case your bruises are more prominent. If like me and you have a busy schedule learning how to conceal the bruises will make you feel more confident! Some slight bruising and bleeding at the site of injection is normal and expected. The bruises should fade after five to seven days.
Don’t forget you are not allowed exercise the day of the procedure. You should especially avoid activities that increase blood flow to your face, like getting a massage or a facial.
10. How did you prepare your lips before the procedure?
Make sure ten days prior to your procedure you avoid painkillers (except Tylenol), vitamin E and oil, which tend to thin the blood. Thinner blood will make the area more prone to bruising and bleeding. I used Nelsons Arnica tablets pre and post procedure, the flower of arnica is used to make medicine. Arnica is applied to the skin for pain and swelling associated with bruises, aches, sprains, and arthritis. It is also applied to the skin for insect bites, muscle and cartilage pain, chapped lips, and acne.
11. How long do you have to wait till you can wear lipstick?
You can put any lip product onto the lips right after the injections. I recommend using Dr.Esho’s Pro Lip Complex Balm ( black ) which has been designed to optimise filler post augmentation, heal lips post any lip procedure and acts to plump and condition lips.
12. How much ml did you have?
The amount given can vary depending on the client base lip (lip to start with) and results you desire to achieve. This varies from person to person, remember the techniques that determines the end result not just what is used and how much
13. Did you have your top and bottom lips done?
I had the procedure on both lips. You can choose the areas of your lips where you’d like the focus to be…
