era: tired of waiting

Maybe this month, your friends are graduating and you aren’t. Perhaps you’re going to wedding after wedding and it seems like the timeline of meeting your husband gets further away by the day. Maybe your peers are having babies or getting their dream jobs and you’re the only one who doesn’t have the things she been praying for.

If that’s you, know that God hasn’t forgotten you, but He also doesn’t want you to forget the process. He doesn’t want you to forget that good things take time and that you are growing day by day, like a tree, but trees do not grow overnight. He doesn’t want you to forget that He is faithful, and you have to trust Him because He knows what He is doing.

That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers. - Psalm‬ ‭1:3‬

Hold on and keep being faithful! Don’t allow yourself to become disheartened by the people that seem to keep moving ahead while you’re moving backward. These things are battles in a much greater war that God has already won. So hold onto Him. He is faithful in shaping you and equipping you for the things to come.

Hearts Apart

Impatience has gotten ahold of me

I can’t bear it anymore

Am I the only one left?

Where have you gotten off to?

Someplace far?

Foreign country?

Well I called to let you know i’m tired of waiting

Come home please

The way he had held her that last night together…

It was all Steve could ponder on as he sat at the coffee shop patio, drawing the Ferris wheel from the carnival a few blocks away, in his leather pocket notebook, as the midday sun started casting short shadows.

He had arrived home at 2 in the morning that day, back from yet another long mission; all the lights were off, which let him know that his wife was sleeping. He stood in the kitchen, took his helmet off and tousled his hair looking exhausted. He placed it on the table, and something caught his attention; a yellow envelope. He immediately knew what was in it and he knew that the day he had been dreading, had finally arrived. He hesitantly grabbed it, debating whether to open it or not.

“I’m tired of waiting for you” she had said before he left for his mission.

Steve frowned at the resonance of her words and opened the envelope. Just as he suspected, he pulled out divorce papers. He shut his eyes briefly and exhaled deeply, slightly leaning over the table as if he was carrying a giant rock on his back.

The day he announced his engagement, most people limited themselves to congratulate them, however, one of his colleagues and friend, had called him “brave”, even warned him. And Steve was surprised to hear such words coming from a woman.

“No superhero has a chance at a normal life, Rogers. We were born different or shaped into something else… but that was our fate. “Natasha had said. “Marriage… sounds too conventional for someone like us, maybe even unnecessarily dangerous”.

“No one deserves to be alone in this world”. Steve retorted.
