~10 Kinds Of Magical Books~

1. Book Of Shadows- A witch’s book of spells, rituals, personal feelings, etc. It is a general book for any metaphysical or religious information that you wish to put into it, among other things.

2.Bestiary- A sometimes hand-written encyclopedia or manual of mythological and magical creatures and beings, used for reference when you want to work with a non-human energy, or for general research.

3.Grimoire- Usually filled with tables and charts, lists relating to astrological, numerical, and color correspondences; properties of crystals, herbs, trees, etc. Contains moon phase meanings and medicinal properties of plants- This one has an old-timey textbook feel to it, usually.

4.Book Of Mirrors- a special journal, where you ‘reflect’ on things going on in your day to day life, providing deep insights which are invaluable when you’re doing work regarding personal growth. Very helpful with developing personal spiritual philosophies.

5.Book Of Moons- A book entirely relating to the moon and it’s cycles, names of the moons of each month, their attributes and energies, dates of lunar eclipses as well as full moon dates of upcoming moons. Filled with vast knowledge of lunar attributes and special dates of red moons, blue moons, etc.

6.Dream Journal- Here you record the dreams you have in as much detail as you can remember, and some people draw images from their dream adventures in this book as well, since dreams use the language of symbolism and imagery. You interpret the meanings of your dreams in here too, if you wish. Dreams can help us get a glimpse into our subconscious and the more dreams you write the easier it becomes for you to remember them.

7. Book of Visions- A vision book is used with the law of attraction, it is a ‘vision board’ in book form. Put different images of things you want in life, be they experiences, physical items, money, health, etc, in the pages of the book. Open the book up to pictures of what you want to visualize having. Think of this as an on-the-go vision board, except with much more space as there are so many pages!

8.Book Of Positive Aspects- At the top of each page you write the name of a topic that you are unhappy with, like ‘the workplace’  for example. Below the topic title you begin listing all the positive aspects of the subject, and by the end of your list your emotions will be in a much better place regarding the topic. You can do a list a day or many in one sitting, it is a valuable tool for cultivating positive energy or for switching viewpoints on things that normally would upset you.

9.Gratitude Journal- A book where you write about EVERYTHING you are thankful and appreciative for in your life right now. You feel overwhelmed with love and positivity when writing in this book, which aids you in raising your vibration and frequency.

10. Book Of Intuitions- a psychic journal, it’s a book where all divination and psychic exercises are recorded, ranging from full tarot spreads, to tea leaf readings, even psychic impressions you pick up off people. It’s handy for tracking progress as well as for record keeping.

23 Black Female Scientists Who Changed The Damn World

Okay so prior to Alice, people had known for hundreds of years that a potential treatment to leprosy existed in the form of something called Chaulmoogra oil. It was too thick to effectively circulate through the body, but Alice Ball, science prodigy and chemist extraordinaire, was the one who FINALLY figured how to turn it into a working treatment. It’s thanks to her that a leprosy crisis was avoided in the early 1900s. Bless you, Alice.

Stay with me for a second because this is actual rocket science. Centaur is a second-stage rocket launcher: the workhorse of the rocket world used to propel countless probes and satellites into space. It’s been invaluable to NASA since its creation, first allowing the U.S. to catch up to the Soviet Union during the space race, and eventually propelling spacecrafts to land on the moon and fly by other planets in the solar system.

So yes: Annie Easley helped DO that. She also contributed energy research to power plants and electronic batteries, which enabled the creation of hybrid vehicles. Go ahead and thank Annie for those, too.

Prior to Jeanne, the impact of discrimination and its accompanying stress factors were rarely explored or acknowledged in relationship to health. She also researched the impact of racism on childhood development and ways to approach therapy that addressed the needs of people of color. And Jeanne broke a ton of ground for black psychologists through her roles in academia and her publications.

Jewel researched ways to alter cell growth AND experimented with growing human tumor tissue outside of the human body to use for cancer treatment tests (instead of testing on living people). As if that wasn’t enough, she also helped to form the National Science Foundation’s Committee on Women and Minorities in Science.

The chair of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission monitors the byproduct of nuclear reactors, so it’s a pretty big deal. Shirley also served on a bunch of advisory boards for international security and energy, AND she was the first black woman to get a Ph.D from MIT.

Self diagnosed people put so much energy into research and self examination. They work so hard to overcome internalised ableism and the ableism in the society around them to discover who they truly are.

Neurodivergent and mentally ill self diagnosed people - You are valid and so absolutely awesome. Thank you for making my community a more open and inclusive place.

Trump appoints guy who opposes renewable energy to lead renewable energy department

  • President Donald Trump has tapped Dan Simmons — an opponent of renewable energy — to lead the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, according to reports.
  • Simmons — formerly the vice president for policy at the conservative, pro-fossil fuel Institute for Energy Research think tank — has yet to be officially announced, according to the Washington Post.
  • But E&E News, an outlet focusing on energy and the environment, is reporting that the renewables critic will be the acting assistant secretary of the office until the Senate confirms someone to the post.
  • Simmons would seem an odd choice to head the Department of Energy office tasked with developing renewable energy, but his selection is in line with a number of officials Trump has nominated to run agencies whose mission they apparently oppose. Read more (5/2/17)

one of many things that i find deeply fucked up in tony’s sales pitch of the jericho is how he kicks it off by like… literally responding to one of machiavelli’s points when he says “is it better to be feared or respected? i say, is it too much to ask for both?”

from chapter XVII of the prince:

“Upon this a question arises: whether it be better to be loved than feared or feared than loved? It may be answered that one should wish to be both, but, because it is difficult to unite them in one person, is much safer to be feared than loved, when, of the two, either must be dispensed with.”

and just the fact that the name of the missile is “jericho,” really, and tony presents it with a mountain chain behind him and then all the explosions – pretty sure that’s supposed to parallel the collapse of the walls of jericho (described in the bible, book of joshua). this wouldn’t be the only (or the first) biblical reference by tony in this movie

like there’s something really cold… and dark… about this. about tony weaving machiavelli and the bible into a sales pitch for a missile. and then the showmanship of the whole thing. having a drink afterward. throwing in a high tech cooler as a ~special treat in purchases of five hundred million dollars or more.

it’s all sooo…. fucked. up. IM1 had no chill about this stuff. and it’s ultimately such an important part of the change in tony. because the double-dealing might have been on stane, it might have been something tony would never do himself, but like tony said, “it’s my name on the side of the building.” he did sit down at one point and incorporated war into marketing strategy. regardless of what his true intent or goals were as a part of the weapons industry (stark innovations all relied on military funding, and the most genuine statement of intent that we get is the post-captivity mention that he created weapons to “defend and protect”) the fact that tony was this polished businessman wearing perfectly pressed suits and having a drink in the middle of a desert war zone after making a small marketing spectacle out of something he personally designed to kill from a distance and at the push of a button – that’s fucked up and it must weigh a SHIT TON in his conscience. it’s the “i saw that i had become part of a system that is comfortable with zero accountability” part of his post-captivity press conference speech. the fact that in his line of business one would design something deadly, sell it, and then just watch it being used to kill others from the comfort of one’s own home while thinking “i just designed the button and sold it, i didn’t push it” or worse: “well, ultimately pushing the button is necessary, and from an objective standpoint, pushing the button means i sell more stuff to keep paying for x, y and z”

and that, thank FUCK, is what tony got out of. tony started at “it’s an imperfect world but it’s the only one we’ve got, i guarantee you the day weapons are no longer needed to keep the peace, i’ll start making bricks and beams for baby hospitals” then *actually* made that exact leap by shutting weapons manufacturing down then pouring billions and billions and billions of the money he made into clean energy initiatives, mental health research, the avengers, city clean-up through the maria stark foundation, student research grants. it’s interesting because tony is one of two (thor being the second) current mcu heroes who actually had to like. drown in sudden awareness of his own privilege in order to get to where he is. so when people ask “uh why does tony suddenly care what 117 other countries think” well, it’s this

tony coming to care about what 117 other countries think is the whole point of his character development and look the fact that the iron man franchise itself, after IM1, just fucking DROPPED the arc of tony’s feeling of personal accountability over his role in the military-industrial complex – is in fact a fucking crime and i will never forgive them

The above photo? My friend and I, happy, soaking up the sun’s energy and each other’s energy.

The other night, a doctor in the emergency room that I work with said that I radiate light, and he can tell that I’m well connected to my surroundings. Little did I know that he meant it literally. We’ve been discussing photons emitted by human bodies. How he thinks in terms of science, doesn’t necessarily “believe” in God, but thinks that the world gravitates around the concept of light. Another doctor, an atheist, has discussed the Higgs Boson with me, saying that he thinks we have been looking at this from the wrong angle. He thinks there’s a correlation between particle physics, subatomic particles, light, photon emission, biochemistry, happiness, and our health/existence in general. He even, in a way, thinks of light, if anything, as “god”. Which I find absolutely intriguing.

I’ve spent the past several hours reading about Nobel laureates, physicists, and even MIT’s take on photon emission; but doing my best to stay away from nutty quacks, who’s explanations have no scientific basis. Here’s a research article, beginning with Planck himself:

“I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as a derivative of consciousness.” —Max Planck

The development of quantum theory in the early twentieth century and the elegant Einstein equivalence established once and for all that matter is energy. Perhaps this led Einstein to state enigmatically in 1916: “For the rest of my life I want to reflect on what light is.” David Bohm (1980) also saw all of existence as an unending sea of light, a “holomovement” in which matter is a crystallized form of light. We too are left to reflect on what light itself is. Biologic science has been slow in the uptake, failing to appropriate the implications of quantum physics, and attempting to abstract bodies from their greater matrix of energy. Medical researchers and practitioners need not repeat this mistake, but can and should appropriate the knowledge of this dynamis for the healing sciences.

Researchers in the biologic sciences are beginning to come to terms with a complementary model of biologic functioning pioneered by Gurwitsch et al. (the Vernad-sky-Gurwitsch-Bauer school). Gurwitsch (1944, 1948) introduced the concepts of the morphogenetic field (1944) and mitogenetic radiation (i.e., ultra-weak photon emission from living systems). Research continues with the work of Popp (1992), Voeikov (2000), van Wijk (2001), and others. It is a brave new world wherein the basis of life is located in the world of biophotons, electron excited states (EES), and quantum coherence; biologic systems functioning as lasers (Korotkov, 2002). At a deeper level, a truly holistic approach requires vacuum biophysics (Bischof, 2000) where the potential is as important as the actual (Dürr, 1998). These perspectives portray the body more as an energy biocomputer (Gariaev, 1994; Hurtak, 1973a) than a molecular machine. A system operating in nonequilibrium thermodynamics (Beloussov and Popp, 1995; Prigogine, 1967), it is understood as open to fields and energies that from the contemporary human perspective may seem new. These fields include consciousness fields of a mind reality operating beyond the functions of neuronal interactions and microtubule structures (Stapp, 1993).

These new fields and new energy realities that have awakened human scientific curiosity are more than passing energy phenomena; in a deeper sense they reflect the structured processes of multiple-body-vehicles that already exist within the biologic complex of the human being. This paper looks at the interplay between the two: the consciousness and material realities. For if these other models are true, holism will come to have an even more expanded meaning, and holistic medicine will be compelled to include the many subtle consciousness and energy fields that interpenetrate and commingle to form the totality that we call the human being. In so doing, medicine will evolve to draw on the full healing power implied by the insight of physicist Bernard d’Espagnat, who said: “The doctrine that the world is made up of objects whose existence is independent of human consciousness turns out to be in conflict with quantum mechanics and with facts established by experiment.”

Light, energy, electromagnetic waves, vibrating the atoms that constitute our bodies. E=mc^2. We are made of matter and matter is energy.

When you wake up, go perch outside and soak up some sunlight. Turn off Netflix. Look up at the stars. Embrace those around you. Anyway, I love you guys. I know i’m not on here as much as I used to, but I’m still here. Curious as ever.

Giant: Ch. 9

Our bodies are weak,
We’re tired and hurting
Will we ever get to the other side?
Dunno but I swear I’ll die trying.

The first date was enough to prove that she was certain Kara wasn’t going to escape how she felt about Lena Luthor. And it wasn’t just the thirty six hours of talking and reacquainting. It wasn’t even the way the CEO effortlessly accepted whatever happened, becoming Kara’s number one defender and supporter. It certainly wasn’t waking up next to messy hair tickling her nose or an uptick in her take out deliveries, though all were benefits in their own little way.

“The simple truth is this: During ages philosophers have endeavored to ascertain the constitution of matter, and have been led to the conclusion that the micro- and macro-cosmos are very much alike in some respects. In other words, there are similarities of structure, arrangement and operation between the micro-organism and the universe.

“The suns, stars and moons of the heavens have their counterpart in the molecules, atoms and electrons which form those divisions of matter too small for the unaided human eye to see.

“Accordingly, all bodies are composed of independent particles of different sizes, spinning around each other with prodigious velocities and containing an amount of kinetic energy which recent physical research has shown to be immense.

“If we could capture and transform it we would obtain unlimited power anywhere on this globe. This possibility presented itself to the minds of advanced investigators long ago. It is not a new idea, but science in recent years has rendered it definite and precise.”

MANIA IS NOT THE SAME AS HAPPINESS

Being in a manic episode means being severely ill.
It means not sleeping for five days because you’re so caught up in your delusions.
It means talking for hours without end and not realising how loud you are.
It means hearing voices.
It means having racing thoughts and ideas and an overload of energy.
It means doing research on a topic for six hours in the middle of the night only to lose interest in it the next day.
It means not being able to go out because of paranoia.
It means engaging in activities that don’t actually represent your values (e.g. meaningless sex, binge drinking).
It means facing stigmatisation.

Mania is just not the same as happiness.

The fossil fuel industry's invisible colonization of academia
Corporate capture of academic research by the fossil fuel industry is an elephant in the room and a threat to tackling climate change.
By Geoffrey Supran

Fossil fuel interests – oil, gas, and coal companies, fossil-fueled utilities, and fossil fuel investors - have colonized nearly every nook and cranny of energy and climate policy research in American universities, and much of energy science too. And they have done so quietly, without the general public’s knowledge.

I'm glad I'm not the only one overwhelmed by the crafting system tbh. Every time I open the research and development menu I click around before clicking off and just hoping for the best in fights. Hopefully I can get a hang of it in the future but .... goodness. It's a lot for me to process.

Ok, so I FINALLY figured out the crafting, it just looks complicated when you open it because the game doesn’t really explain it, but it makes a lot more sense once you know how it works. Basically, there are just a lot of steps you have to take - instead of your standard “get 10 iron then press X,” you have to take a few steps before you can actually craft your weapon or armor. Hopefully this will help someone else. None of this is really a spoiler, but I’m popping it under a read more for anyone who wants to avoid any kind of spoilers.

New, long-lasting flow battery could run for more than a decade with minimum upkeep

Researchers from the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) have developed a new flow battery that stores energy in organic molecules dissolved in neutral pH water. This new chemistry allows for a non-toxic, non-corrosive battery with an exceptionally long lifetime and offers the potential to significantly decrease the costs of production.

The research, published in ACS Energy Letters, was led by Michael Aziz, the Gene and Tracy Sykes Professor of Materials and Energy Technologies and Roy Gordon, the Thomas Dudley Cabot Professor of Chemistry and Professor of Materials Science.

Spin-2 Dark Matter Project: so it begins!

My new dark matter work extends my leptophobic graviton work: hence I’ve already developed many of the massive spin-2 computational tools I’ll need for new calculations. Today mostly involved

  • outlining a procedure of attack
  • dividing that procedure into subgoals and a timeline
  • filling in computational gaps

You've probably heard of it, but if you haven't, the Lore podcast would probably be right up your alley--it's basically a series of informative episodes on various historical folkloric/paranormal topics, presented by someone who's obviously poured a lot of time and energy into researching folklore. A lot of them are spooky but not, like, terrifying; I've been using them for background noise while working and they reminded me a lot of some of what you've said about your WL research.

I already listen to it! It’s very interesting! I can’t get enough of American legends. :)

Ok so I've seen that you're really into witchcraft and such. Do you have any tips for beginners? I don't have the slightest clue where to start jkkfkglh

figure out what kind of craft you’re into ! do you believe in god/esses ? look up some you wouldn’t mind invoking the power of. is energy more your thing ? research how to manipulate it in a way thats safe and comfortable for you.

don’t be afraid to try new methods to figure out which one you like best. herbs and gardening aren’t my thing, and neither is casting traditional spells. i do more energy work/manipulation but that might not be your cup of tea.

do ! your ! own ! research ! i can’t tell you how upset i am that i fell into the wiccan practice without researching any other ways to practice my craft when i first started. it can feel like falling into a cult if you just buy a bunch of books on wicca and stick to those. (not that anythings wrong with wicca, its just such a….by-the-book kind of craft that i can’t do it. that and i personally don’t really believe too much in higher beings like gods and goddesses lol)

@upthewitchypunx was the first secular witch i came across that showed me that you don’t have to practice magic only one way. and her blog is like a+++ so i seriously suggest you check her out !

go at your own pace. you won’t know everything about everything within the first few weeks of starting your craft. keep a notebook. be open to new things. get involved with the community and talk to different people that practice in different ways. there’s always going to be something new to learn or try out and no one is perfect at anything.
