What can be done?

What can be done?

What can be done? How can we help others? How can one person make a difference? Well, there are many ways, of course. Most people in modern Western society, and in many parts of the world, feel powerless today. They feel that they can’t do anything to help – they can’t do anything to change things. This is an illusion. We are never powerless. We always have some degree of power. There is always…

At the University of South Florida where I’m attending classes, there is a program called SafeZone which is a training program for those who want to be advocates for the LGBTQ, and their rights as people. They showed us this video today and it was all I could do to hold back my tears.

I know the main people in the video were actors, but the fact of the matter is this happens in real life. It’s sickening. I’ve been an advocate for a long time and it still never ceases to amaze me that people can be this cruel. I don’t want to write a novel under this video because I want you all to watch it. (Pay no attention to the woman behind the curtain! lol) But I wanted to say that despite the number of people who are uneducated and find every excuse to bash good people, there seems to be a small if not equal number of people willing to stand up for those that are being harassed and ridiculed for no better reason than they’re different. I’m proud to say I am one of those people. If ever I see this happening to a couple or anyone for that matter, I will not hesitate to stand up for my fellow human being.

This is amazing! This is an important need in many developing countries. And it’s great for sustainability versus traditional feminine products since many rural areas don’t have access to sophisticated waste management systems. When I was staying in a village in Tanzania, our bathrooms were latrines, which were basically holes in the ground. The volunteers were told to bring organic biodegradable products but those that live there don’t have that luxury. That means a ton of waste is produced that will only hurt their environment. I hope this concept has success and spreads to other places in need.

Local News – Empowerment of Buddha Vajrapani
10.30am Amitabha Buddhist Centre

Vajrapani is an emanation of Vajradhara. His function is to disempower and destroy the negative minds of living beings by giving us spiritual power.

This useful even if you live many miles away. Simply meditate on Vajrapani at the appropriate time, and really believe he’s there, blessing you. It’s correct imagination - he will be - helping you dissolve your delusions away.

anonymous asked:

What are ideas to slow down rape culture?

I can think of a few:

- increase penalties for rape.

- Offer psychological help for people who have the tendencies to rape/have raped before . This is important, more than people think, cause it can help avoiding rapes and understanding triggers. A sometimes rapists feel the urges to do so and try to stop on their own, not looking for help when they need to due to shame of being judged, end up losing control and commiting a crime. Rape is something that can be avoided, both by empoering people who are potencial victims as well as trying to “deactivate” potencial ofenders

- Educate children on not only sexuality issues but also giving them the notion that sex and consent are two things that can’t be separated.

- Offer support to the victims and giving them security so that they can trust that it’s safe to acuse the person responsable for the assault.

This are just some I can think off right now
