I just wrote 1200 words on the cinematography/mise-en-scene of the opening 5 minutes. I was supposed to do 1500 but couldn’t make it!!!

300 words on Popol Vuh’s soundtrack in relation to the mise-en-scene should be easy. The two are so intertwined that to remove one from the analysis of the other would be folly.

Solarization. It was also used on the cover of Hot Rats, the inside cover of Burnt Weeny Sandwich (done in Cal Schenkel’s closet), and numerous other Schenkel/Caraeff collabs and solo works of the era.
