hey there! I want to get into using fountain pens but I want to start off with something more budget-friendly since i don't know what I like yet. I've been shying away from them because of price and because I can't seem to find any with nibs as fine as the non-FP that I use. My favorite pen is Muji 0.38mm. Do you know of any affordable fountain pens with nibs that fine? It's difficult since FP nibs don't really go by mm size.

Hi! Muji 0.38 is pretty fine so you’re definitely going to want to go with Japanese fine and extra fine nibs. This chart is from the ipenstore blog and I would say it seems accurate given my experience with various brand’s nib sizes. The Pilot Metropolitan in fine is going to be your most budget friendly option, I think that would be my first recommendation. The TWSBI Eco in extra fine may also work for you, but it is a touch wider nib than it’s Japanese counterparts and does require bottled ink. If you want a truly fine nib, however, you’re going to want an extra fine from either Pilot, Platinum, or Sailor. It will be an investment to get an extra fine from one of those brands but I think it’s well worth it for those of us who want very fine lines. Hope this helps and feel free to message me with any questions!

Your handwriting is absolutely beautiful also what type of pens do you use to create these amazing pieces of art.

Thank you! My writing is all done with various fountain pens, recently it’s been either my Pilot Vanishing Point in Extra Fine, Platinum Balance in Fine, or Sailor Pro Gear Slim in Extra Fine. I’ve been using De’Atramentis Pine Green and Noodler’s Army Green as inks lately. For my lettering, I typically use brush pens from Tombow or Zig/Kuratake. I also use fine liners from Pilot and Uniball. Feel free to ask or message if you have more questions about particular pens!

Dads Against Daughters Dating

Note: This little bit here has been my headcanon for a good few months and a part of me wishes that I had posted it during Pride Month, but I didn’t because I’m an idiot. I don’t have a lot of experience with “coming out” as I don’t fall under the LGBTQA umbrella, but I do think that Emma and Killian would most certainly not care if their kid was. I was supposed to be working on a Wes request and a Harrison request, but my Beth muse was going so I decided to follow through with it. I will work on Wes tomorrow and hopefully post it by tomorrow night. Anyway, thank you @welllpthisishappening for listening to me babble on and on about these children. I would be lost without you. Summary: Beth Jones has been going on a lot of dates, but Emma and Killian aren’t entirely prepared for the bit of news that their fifteen year old daughter drops on them over breakfast.
Rating: T
Word Count: 2,900+

Killian Jones loves his daughter with everything in his heart, but these days he misses when she was a little minnow in his arms who wanted nothing more than to splash around in the waves, fiddle around with his hook and giggle against his chest as they watched whales break the ocean’s surface while taking the Jolly on a joy ride.

Now, she’s a full-fledged teenage girl, no longer sweet and adorable, but clever, gorgeous and maddeningly charming with a penchant for tight fitted clothing and low neck lines that blatantly show off more cleavage than Killian is comfortable with. At fifteen years old, Beth Jones is both Killian’s pride and joy and his worst nightmare. There are days where Killian is pretty sure he’s going to suffer from aneurysm due to half of the outfits she puts on. Even worse is that he now catches men of all ages blatantly staring at his little girl. He nearly killed one of the dwarves who had been checking out at his daughter’s ass in the grocery store before his wife stopped him. It doesn’t help that she’s also aware of the staring and sometimes even encourages it with a flirty wink and an all-knowing smirk that gives him a sense of deja vu.

Now boys hound her at all hours of the day. Text messages, phone calls and little notes start cropping up all over the place. One boy who had been working as a bus boy at Granny’s even had the nerve to ask her out while they were eating together as a family. He could barely contain his look of disdain while Beth calmly told him she was unavailable and to ask her some other time. Harrison looks as horrified as Killian while Wes and Neddy tease their sister on how popular she is.

“Jeez, you cannot even eat without getting someone’s number,” Wes snickers. “And I thought I was the gorgeous one in the family.”

“Shut up!” Beth hisses under her breath. “It doesn’t mean anything.”

She says it doesn’t mean anything, but half the time she humors these idiots and lets them take her out for dinner, to the movies and even to the park. Killian doesn’t understand it and doesn’t want to. He just wants it all to stop.

“She’s fifteen, Killian, she’s allowed to date. I don’t remember you giving Henry, Harrison or Wes this much grief when they started dating,” Emma comments after listening to him rant about Beth’s latest date at the movie theater with Dean Kelleher. Dean is two years older than Beth and his parents were some sort of minor nobles back in the Enchanted Forrest. Killian doesn’t care if the boy’s parents were Olympian gods, no one is worthy of his daughter.

“That’s different!” Killian exclaims. “She’s”- “Your little girl,” Emma interrupts him with a teasing smile.

“Your little pirate princess. Your little buttercup. Your minnow. Shall I go on?” she asks him, looking every bit amused.

“Swan…” Killian gives her an irritated look.

“Killian, like I said, she’s fifteen, not three. She’s going to grow up someday. Pirate princess is possibly gonna find a pirate king in the future and you can’t handle it.”

Para Bellum [1/1]

Grown up Lieutenant Duckling for @seastarved ‘s Fantasy Pretzel Week! Rated M for violence, descriptions of injuries, and character death. Because that’s where my mind goes, I guess. Thank you very much to @katie-dub and @zengoalie for their beta help at different stages, and to all my Hub fam for being the best.

Day Three: Prompt: Co-workers AU in the Enchanted Forest.

The birth of Crown Prince Leo of the Enchanted Forest had been met with rapturous joy, both by his shocked parents and by the kingdom he would one day rule. A dozen banquets were held in honour of the babe before he could do much more than mewl at his mother’s breast, a hundred ships launched in his name before he could speak it.

And his sister was probably the most delighted of all.

As Crown Princess, Emma had taken little pleasure in the intrigues of court - or of courting, for that matter - always far more at home with a weapon in her hand than when writing letters of diplomacy. For twenty eight years she had managed with a sort of grudging acceptance of the role life had bestowed on her, and then, at what felt like the eleventh hour -

Snow White had borne a son.

And Emma was free.

She casts a shrewd eye over the Royal Dockyard, watching as men swing from the rigging of the larger ships and cast lines to others waiting below. It’s alive, this place, alive with thousands of men rushing about to see to their duties, alive with the creak and groan of the wooden hulls as they sink and rise with the tide.

It makes her feel alive, too. All her dreams of adventure are set out before her on the crystal waters. This is her chance to be seen, not as some coddled princess, but as a woman with fire and determination in her very soul. A chance to prove herself. A chance that matters.

“Are you quite certain about this, Emma?” her father asks, two steps behind her in a uniform much like her own except for the row of glittering medals pinned to his breast. “These men are hard men who live hard lives, they may not take easily to a woman giving them orders.”

“They don’t have a choice,” Emma says mildly, though her eyes narrow slightly. “If Leo had not been born, I’d have been their Queen. Seems to me accepting a woman as Admiral shouldn’t come as too much of a strain.”

“As you wish.” says her father, reaching forward to lay a hand on her shoulder. “But I should be more comfortable if I knew you had a solid board of officers behind you.”

“I have a cutlass,” Emma says, turning to her father with a raised brow. “And I know how to use it. If that should not prove to be enough of an encouragement I’ll be sure to let you know.”

It all starts when Emma’s best friend’s evil step-sister gets married.

Emma isn’t a wedding type of person. Even if she were this isn’t the kind of affair for celebrating the love two people share. Not that Regina and Robin don’t love each other, just that Regina loves rubbing her happiness in everyone else’s faces even more.

“You know she only invited me because she can’t rub your happily married nose in it, right?” Emma asks Mary Margaret as they head towards David’s beat up pickup truck. Mary Margaret looks beautiful as ever in the deep purple dress Regina had picked for her bridesmaids. David’s waist coat and bowtie match the color and satin fabric.

“Oh, Emma, cut Regina some slack,” Mary Margaret sighs, ever the martyr. “She might not be the most, um, agreeable person but she just wants to celebrate her love. Maybe she thinks of you two as friends.”

Emma wonders if Regina makes constant snide and condescending remarks about the state of all of her friends’ lives or if that’s just the type of bond they apparently share. Mary Margaret does her best with her troublesome relatives, though, so Emma keeps her mouth shut.

“What did you get them, anyway?” She asks as Mary Margaret squeezes into the middle of the bench seat, large white and gold wrapped box in her lap, and Emma slides in after her. She’s forgetting why she’d agreed to drive together rather than in her own car.

“A slow cooker.”

Emma pulls a face.

“Married life must be a riot,” she comments deadpan. Mary Margaret gives a big put upon sigh and David chuckles as he backs out of the driveway.
