Featured biker girl: Emily Batty. Don’t let her angelic looks deceive you, this petite Canadian is one hell of a rider! She competed at the London Olympics with a broken collar bone & still managed to finish the race in the top 25. Other results:

  • Finished 6th Overall 2012 World Cup Standings
  • 2nd World Cup #1 South Africa
  • 4th World Cup #6 France
  • 2011 Canadian National Cyclo-Cross Champion
  • Winner 2011 Sea Otter Classic
  • 6 Time Canadian National Mountain Bike Champion
  • 2009 Under 23 Pan-American Champion

And on top of that, yeah, she is stunning.

While Justin Bieber is an excuse to hate America’s hat, there’s many things to be thankful to Canada for: poutine, Whistler ski resort, and of course, Emily Batty. Not only is she bloody fast and born in to a family of racers, she is hard as nails: she competed with a broken collar bone and bruised shoulders in the 2012 Summer Olympics, no easy feat when you consider her main discipline is not road biking but MTB.

As of 2013 she races for team Trek Factory Racing, who also has another crowd favorite - Jens Voigt.

A few shots from the women’s race (no men, sorry guys we fled to the beach in the afternoon). Emily Batty took the win in front of Catharine Pendrel and Georgia Gould. Outstanding performance by local girl Larissa Connors finishing in 4th. Stoke levels must be off the stoke chart.
