I took these two photos whilst volunteering with Raleigh International, a sustainable development charity, working in Karnataka, in Southern India. Whilst there we undertook a WASH programme (Water and Sanitation, health), where we built three toilets, taught English lessons on hygiene, ran community action days, helped form a women’s self help group and a youth group and worked with the villagers to clear a playground area and build a kitchen garden.

We were lucky enough to stay for ten weeks in this tribal village called Thattekere, which was an amazing experience! The surrounding rural countryside was so beautiful but what I was really touched by was the lovely, welcoming, generous people that we met, and made our time there incredible.
