emilia is a blessing to this character

“They are outgrowing the restrictions that she’s placing on them. She’s always feared it. I mean, for goodness sake, they’re dragons. They’ve killed her enemies; what’s going to stop them from killing anyone? I think it’s kind of a symbol of her losing control of herself, and losing control of what she’s doing.” – Emilia Clarke on Daenerys Targaryen in the Season 4 Foreshadowing

Hi! I wanna asked *maybe you already answered this kind of question* Can you explain to me why people hate Daenerys? I also read somewhere, that some people hate Emilia Clarke, why? I like Dany and I like Emilia as actress. She's perfect to me, so I am confused why people hate her? :-/ Thank you and I love you blog. Have a nice day ;)

I can only go by my own observations, but from what I see, there are two different types of Dany “haters.” The first are those who don’t believe she is right for the throne, because they don’t see her as fit to rule, which is a completely justified opinion. Their dislike is toward her leadership style and political choices. But then, you have a second group who have a seething hatred for her and everything that she does for a plethora of reasons. The most popular being “she’s a racist white savior”, followed by “she’s an entitled brat and crazy like her father.” I’ve seen so many arguments against Dany that twist her narrative around to fit whatever negative opinion, while totally disregarding the whole point of her character arc. It’s frustrating, especially when people hate Dany for things that other characters are just as guilty of, if not, more.

Personally, I think disapproving of Dany as a queen is more than fair — we shouldn’t expect everyone to worship her, but some attacks on her are too much. Although Dany may not be the best leader, she is a good person and still a growing teenage girl. I side eye anyone who thinks she’s terrible monster (no joke, I once saw someone compare her to Joffrey). Yes, she can be very merciless toward her enemies, but that’s rooted in her desire for justice. Her intentions are probably the purest out of anyone in the series, even if her way of going about it is questionable. I really think GRRM is using her character to show good intentions don’t always make a good ruler.

As for Emilia hate… I don’t know, man. Maybe they just hate happiness and sunshine because she is a precious angel sent directly down from heaven to bless us all with her laughter and eyebrows.

“I felt for Daenerys. I felt for her situation as a woman. Being in such a male-dominated society, where she was being abused by the men around her - it was that sort of sympathy, I suppose it started off as that. But then as you track her story, the problems that she overcomes and the way that she deals with them with such grace and the way that she deals with them when she has no training. The only thing that she has is herself and her iron will - that’s just a fabulous, incredible side to her character, really. And the fact that you watch her fall in love. You know, she meets the man that she loves more than anything else. She goes through painful events but she is still this strong, independent woman. And I think that, as a female, is what I really connected with.”
