In this contemporary version of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective stories, Dr. John Watson is a war vet just home from Afghanistan. He meets the brilliant but eccentric Holmes when the latter, who serves as a consultant to Scotland Yard, advertises for a flatmate. Almost as soon as Watson moves into the Baker Street flat, they are embroiled in mysteries, and Sherlock’s nemesis, Moriarty, appears to have a hand in the crimes.

11 minutes of Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final gameplay

With Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final due out this Wednesday, February 10 in Japan, 4Gamer.net has gone up with 11 minutes of direct-feed gameplay footage from the retail version of the game.

The followup to Shin Megami Tensei IV is set in the year 203X, where the gods’ war devastated and transformed Tokyo into a demon capital. As the battle between Lucifer and Merkabah entered its final phase, the demon Krishna appeared. Spearheading the “Polytheistic Gods Alliance,” Krishna declared war on Lucifer, Merkabah, and the monotheistic gods. And mankind gets embroiled in a terrible new war. The protagonist is a young man made a “god killer” by the power of the demon Daguza.

I was thinking how amazing it was that the world contained so many lives. Out in these streets people were embroiled in a thousand different matters: money problems, love problems, school problems. People were falling in love, getting married, going to drug rehab, learning how to ice-skate, getting bifocals, studying for exams, trying on clothes, getting their hair-cut and getting born. And in some houses people were getting old and sick and were dying, leaving others to grieve. It was happening all the time, unnoticed, and it was the thing that really mattered.

“The vote is a right. And like all rights conferred by state power, they can be and often are taken away or restricted. Voting, therefore, is useful for generating change only insofar as the marginalized can consistently and reliably participate in it and depend on the state to carry out their electoral will. Rarely though, if ever, does the will of oppressed people and dominant political classes coalesce. Instead, they are almost always embroiled in conflict — the dominant class undercutting the needs of the oppressed, using the state as a primary mechanism to do so, in part, through disallowing or restricting voting rights (the Black Codes, Jim Crow, felon restrictions, etc).”

– Organize or Die: Never in the History of the World has an Election Destroyed a System of Oppression

When Finn sees her again, it is not the reunion he would have wanted for them. There is no excitement, euphoria or relief. Replaced in its stead is need, desperation and frustration. He can’t reach her and he can’t help her. For all that Finn has been trained to do, he can’t use any of that to help the woman that he cares most deeply about, but he has to believe that Rey will be okay. She is the most capable person - man or woman - that he has ever met and he has a task to do. People will die if he doesn’t.

Blood is smeared across Finn’s shirt and Rey’s stomach clenches painfully at the question that arises: is it his? She wants to ask. She wants to know if he’s hurt but he is too far away. Rey should’ve let him go to the far reaches of the galaxy like he had wanted to do because now, seeing him embroiled with this war and knowing that he had almost died for her kills her a little bit inside. Rey would do anything for this man that came back for her but it’s the realisation that she can’t right now that is the last piercing stab that she allows herself to feel before she ducks down a long corridor. Luke is in trouble and Rey has to save him.

Finn shoots down a few more Stormtroopers and tries to forget about the sinking guilt that happens each time. He waves meaningfully at a fellow Resistance fighter and disappears behind a door. There, he finds himself in a corridor and after a left turn then a right, Finn comes face to face with his friend.

“Buddy!”

“Poe Dameron, you’re a sight for sore eyes.”

Beep beep, boop, beep!”

“You too, BB-8,” Finn laughs.

Beep beeeeep.”

“Have you got the -” Poe was about to say but after noticing the device in Finn’s hand, he stops speaking. He then looks up and studies his friend’s face for a moment. “Hey, man, what’s wrong?”

“It’s nothing,” Finn tries to wave off as he leads them to where they’ll be dismantling the base.

“C’mon. It’s me.”

And after so many months of flying around with Poe and going on Resistance missions with the older man, Finn realises that he’s right. It is Poe. Poe Dameron, his mentor, friend and brother in arms. So Finn concedes.

“I… I saw Rey.”

“Oh,” is all Poe says for a short while. They turn a corner with BB-8 rolling along behind them and enter a room. Poe immediately gets to work but then he replies, “She’s going to be okay. If she’s anything like you said, she’s stronger and tougher than all of us combined. She’ll be okay.”

Finn smiles at this. That’s true. He knows it’s true and so he allows the worries and doubts to leave his mind as he goes to help Poe.

Hours pass before Finn and Rey see each other again. This time, the fighting has stopped and they’re both back at the Resistance base. Luke is safe and Finn and Poe had successfully dismantled that First Order base. Rey smiles at Finn and he returns her smile, but once again, they’re too far to reach each other. Everyone is celebrating and there are too many bodies in the way. Rey gestures with a jerk of her head towards the Millennium Falcon and Finn nods in understanding. They both are now making their way towards the place where it had all really began.

Rey is the first to reach the ship and she stands just inside the door waiting with nervous anticipation. She doesn’t know why she’s so nervous but she is. It has been so long since she’s seen him. Rey’s scared that maybe the time apart had changed them. Maybe Finn won’t like who she’s become. She doesn’t even consider the idea that she wouldn’t like who Finn has become. From what she’s heard, he became exactly who she thought he was from the very start: a hero.

Footsteps echo loudly in the empty ship and Rey becomes rigid as Finn enters the Millennium Falcon. For a long second, they both just stare at the other, and then, something wonderful happens. Finn smiles and suddenly Rey’s tension dissipates into the air.

“Sorry, Poe wanted to ask me something.”

“It’s okay,” Rey smiles back.

Another second passes as they stare at each other but this is different. The tension clouding the air around them is neither nervous or anxious now. Rey doesn’t know what it is but she’s still smiling at him.

Finn hears his heartbeat racing. Somehow in the time they’ve been apart his feelings for Rey seemed only to grow and seeing her here now, he could practically feel it expand.

“I… I’ve missed you,” Rey says almost shyly. “You and BB-8 I mean,” she then quickly corrects as her cheeks flush a lovely rosy colour.

Finn’s resolve changes and now he’s moving towards her. He knows she can be uncomfortable with physical touch and so just as he reaches her his hand hesitates an inch from her face, waiting for her permission. Rey immediately nuzzles her cheek into his palm and Finn exhales in relief. He brings his other hand up to her other cheek and smiles down at her. Nothing needed to be said between them and so Finn feeling brave, leans forward and kisses her. Rey let out a surprised squeak but slowly she pushes back against him and Finn’s hands are moving from her face. He trails them down her body, feeling the hard muscles in her back and grips her tightly to him, flushing their bodies together. He’s dreamt of this moment for too many moons but the reality is so much better than he could’ve imagined.

Rey has never kissed anyone before. She doesn’t know what she’s doing yet there’s no apprehension in her movements. Kissing Finn feels instinctual. It feels like everything is finally as it should be, and without thinking, Rey’s hands have gravitated towards his arms and then to the hair at the nape of his neck. She holds on tightly and wonders if she would ever willingly let him go again.

They break apart for a moment to breathe. Both of their faces are dazed and euphoric and Finn laughs. This isn’t how he had pictured their reunion.

With the barrier gone between them, Finn kisses her again, this time a bit more forcefully. Rey is no longer taken by surprise and she replies with equal fervour. He then picks her up and she wraps her legs around his waist as Finn pushes her against a wall.

Hours could’ve passed and neither person would’ve realised the difference. It’s only when a certain droid rolled into the Millennium Falcon that Finn and Rey break apart.

Beep boop beeeeep?”

Rey giggles and hides her face in Finn’s shoulder. He looks down at the orange and white droid and points a finger at him.

“This stays between us, BB-8. Okay?”

BB-8 nods and sticks out his mechanical arm and lighter.

Beep!”

Rappers are expected to throw all kinds of creative digs at one another when they’re embroiled in a beef. “Kanye West’s withering takedown of Wiz Khalifa has officially leveled Twitter, leaving us to marvel in its wake. It was, for the most part, wonderful to watch, and like any rap beef in the present era, will likely spawn all manner of memes and commentary in the coming weeks. But like so many rap beefs these days, the feud quickly descended into casual misogyny. We shouldn’t need reminding that that’s unacceptable.

These are shitty tweets. They’re shitty because they show Kanye, whatever his feelings on his relationship to Amber may be, subscribing to the common notion that strippers are an untouchable caste when actually they’re human beings making human decisions, the kind too often made under duress. Yes, Amber Rose was a stripper. She’s also an accomplished businesswoman, actress, and advocate against slut shaming. Kanye must have missed the movement.

Rappers are expected to throw all kinds of creative digs at one another when they’re embroiled in a beef. The flagrant disrespect is what makes beefs such fun spectator events, especially since we’re well past the era when feuds could very likely lead to bloodshed. But women are too often used as weapons in these conflicts. Meek Mill (may he rest in peace) was brought low last year mainly because Drake questioned his relationship with Nicki Minaj. “Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour?” Drake joked, seemingly forgetting how long he thirsted after Nicki himself. Meanwhile, 50 Cent released what was actually revenge porn in his battle with Rick Ross in 2009, a move that lost him $5 million in court last year.

Artists should do better. Taking shots at women to hurt an enemy, by way of their sexual history or how successful they are, ignores that they’re capable as creators and valuable as consumers. They have voices and they will use them. Amber Rose certainly is”:

anonymous asked:

Sherlock, Molly and John are back from solving a case. They all are happy but Sherlock is really mad at Molly because she put her life in danger for him. He's mad because he could had lose her. (sorry my english)

“How many times do I have to tell you, your life isn’t worth putting on the line for mine?”

“And how many times do I have to tell YOU, William Sherlock Scott Holmes, that my life is mine to decide what I want to do with? And if that means putting it on the line for you, then that’s EXACTLY what I’ll do!”

John backed up a few steps, clearing his throat loudly. “Right, then, guess I’ll head home. Mary’s just texted, she needs me to stop and get nappies for Lizzie. You two just, um, work things out, yeah? Right, OK then, off I go.”

Neither of his friends noticed his hasty retreat, too embroiled in their rapidly escalating disagreement for anything else to register.

“Molly, that idiot had a gun. You could have been shot. You could have died!” Sherlock was tugging at his hair as he shouted at her, while Molly’s arms were folded tightly across her chest.

“So could you,” she said through gritted teeth. “So could John. It could have been any one of us, but luckily I knocked his arm aside and the bullet went into the ceiling. Can’t you just, I dunno, thank me or something instead of shouting at me?”

Sherlock stared at her for a long minute, the slowly lowered his hands to his sides. His expression went completely blank, and Molly wondered if he’d retreated into his mind palace.

Two seconds later he moved, quickly erasing the few feet between them, his large hands grasping her arms and pulling her even closer to him. “Sherlock, what?” she managed to gasp out, and then suddenly his mouth was on hers, warm and mobile.

Sherlock was kissing her.

She quickly shook herself free of her shock and return the kiss, unfolding her arms as best she could in order to wrap them around his waist. The kiss deepened; there may or may not have been tongue involved (a lady never tells, after all), but at the end of it both participants were red-faced and breathless. “Now do you understand?” Sherlock asked in a near whisper as he gazed down at her.

Molly nodded. “I’m still not going to just stand back if you’re being threatened,” she warned him as she reached up and tugged his face down to hers again.

“I’m still not worth it,” he mumbled, but then she was kissing him and he was too busy kissing her back to continue the argument.
