December 6, 2014 - 1st National Tour - San Diego, CA Civic Theatre

Stephanie is such a great Elphaba. She was on for Emma Hunton, who was sick. I think she herself had something because she struggled with some higher notes and cracked in Defying Gravity. That being said, she wasn’t phased at all by it and continued to give a powerhouse performance! Really awesome on her part.

I have daydreams of this

Stage Manager: We’re sorry but we have to cancel this performance of Wicked seeing as the lead, the standby, and the understudy of Elphaba have all broken their legs and are unable to perform.

Me: *rising from seat in audience with witch hat on* Give me thirty minutes for costumes, makeup, and a quick tour of backstage so I can know where to make my entrances and exits. Maybe a quick refresher on the Defying Gravity lift and I’ll be good to go. I’m the one you want. It’s me. IT’S MEEEEEE.

Heard back from Caroline Bowman today! This is great because she just recently left Wicked to do another show! I love this response because it’s the new playbill with Kyle as Fiyero, and it came with Donna Vivino’s stand-in slip! Both of which I’ve been trying to get my hands on for a while now!!! Thank you so much Caroline! Hope to see you back with Wicked one day!

Michelle Pentecost, The Wizard and I, 14.07.12 (by emilou1994)

With Nikki having fun at Latitude Festival and Rachel… Well we don’t know where Rachel was, but! Yesterday the lovely Michelle Pentecost was able to go green for definitely the matinee show, it still hasn’t been confirmed if she did the evening show, and the 2nd cover Elphaba had a blast.

I think Emmy sounded fantastic as Elphaba! Is she the first African-American actress to perform as Elphaba?

She does! I really loved that audio, I’m excited to hear more from her!

And she no she isn’t the first :)

Alexia Khadime performed the role in London

Also Lilli Cooper was recently the understudy for Elphaba in the 2nd National Tour. I actually saw her while she was in the cast, but I saw her in the ensemble and not as the role.

There may be more actresses as well that I am forgetting! But I’m very very excited for Emmy’s interpretation, she just killed “The Wizard and I” in my opinion. I loved some of her acting choices and she nailed the riffs!
