The test prints have arrived and they look great, right down to the fancy binding! I’m gonna order a bunch this week, so if you’d like to order one please let me know and we can coordinate payment. If you live in Seattle I can meet up with you so it’ll be cheaper since you don’t have to pay shipping! They’re all 8.5x11", 20 pages and full color, $6 a zine plus shipping if you don’t live in seattle.

I’m trying to collect some order $$ for printing costs beforehand if possible since I’m doing a hefty order, but if you want to reserve one and pay later/buy one that I’ll ship asap, please reply or message me and we can talk! I’ll hopefully be shipping out the first batch of orders around 12/12. Thank you so much!!

Interview #182: Ellen Rumel

Portland, Oregon, USA

q: What inspires you?
a: Living in the Pacific NW is inspiring because I live in an urban environment, but am also just a few hours from the beach. Everything is so pretty and green and I like visiting the strange surrounding areas of Portland. Weird people, interesting clothes, movies and music too, of course. I’m surrounded by so many awesome musicians, the live music here keeps me photographing.

q: Do you know how to knit?
a: Not yet! I have been meaning to learn. My first roommate in Portland knitted all the time, always making mittens and half finished socks. I feel like it’d be a good way to spend my time.

q: Do you prefer oranges or the color orange?
a: Mostly I prefer orange juice! I like the color orange if it looks like it would be in a house from the 70s.

q: Does music influence your work?
a: Definitely. There are so many great local bands, as well as legendary musicians that tour through town and I want to photograph it all because I have no idea where things will be in 20 years. I almost always have a camera with me, sometimes things get crazy.

I am available for photo sessions! Holiday photos, senior portraits, engagements, pets (yes let’s dress your dog up at Santa Claus), head shots, band promos, pretty much anything you can think of. I leave at the end of December, so contact me before we run out of time. Message me via tumblr or email me at erumel819@gmail.com!
