Happy Imbolc!

Hello witches, I wish you all a wonderful Imbolc and good days to come!

Here’s a little spell to celebrate:

Spring Calling + Self-transformation Spell

{All of my spells can be modified to suit your practice and/or needs}

Ingredients
{For Winter Spirit Water}
- Snow water
- Pine
- Dried dead plants and herbs (not as tragic as it seems haha)

{For Spring Spirit Water}
- Rain water
- Flower Water
- Daisy petals
- Red and yellow roses petals
- Lemon peels

Tools
- 2 long bottles
- 2 green candles
- Paper and pen
- A fire source (lighter or matches)

Preparation
- While performing the spell you can light some incense or diffuse essential oil of your choice
- You can also play some music
- Ground or meditate a little before starting the spell

Steps
- Mix the ingredients for the Winter Spirit Water into the first bottle
- Place one of the candle inside the bottle
- Do the same for the Spring Spirit Water using the second bottle and candle
- Place the two bottles in front of you. The Winter one on the left, the Spring one on the right
- Light the Winter candle first
- Visualize Winter changing into Spring
- With the Winter candle light the Spring one
- Keep your visualization flowing. See flowers grow as the Sun warms the earth
- Once you feel you are ready, blow out the Winter candle and then the Spring one (I know there is a common belief that says that you should not blow out candles, but I find it more respectful to gently blow the flame out than to suffocate it by pinching the wick. But that’s just my opinion, do whatever you’re comfortable with :)
- On a piece of paper write:

Winter leaves us and brings with it our fears and regrets. It gives us the strength to go forward

- Glue or tape the paper on the Winter bottle
- On another piece of paper write:

Spring emerges. As the snow melts, we change into our better selves. As the flowers grow, we grow with them

- Glue or tape the paper on the Spring bottle
- Keep these bottles on your altar until Spring arrives!

Elemental Spell Ideas

Most of the time, I try to do spellwork with the intent aligned with a specific element in order to use the energy of that element. Here are some ideas for choosing a type of spell based on its elemental alignment.

Water

  • charge herbs, stones, etc and throw into a moving body of water, such as a river, stream, or ocean. You can use a pond or lake, but I think the moving water has more effect.
  • Take a ritual bath with oils or herb blends suited for your purpose. The bath itself is cleansing, and soaking in the herbs, oils, and water while focusing on intent/chanting can be super powerful.
  • Carve runes or sigils into soap or bath bomb and use in bath. As the runes/sigil disappear, the spell is released.
  • Draw sigils into dirt with a stick/finger, let rain wash it away or pour water over it to release (this is also an earth spell)
  • Make teas/potions with edible(be careful!) herbs
  • Do a blessing or chant over wine or other beverages for yourself or to share any time (kitchen witchery is fantastic!)
  • Wash items with blessed and charged water to cleanse and purify. This can be ritual tools or just anything that you feel needs to be cleansed of negative energy.

Earth

  • Carve names, words, runes or sigils, into fruit and bury in a pot of dirt or in the ground. Good for things that you want to have manifest slowly.
  • For permanent effect, bury something that will not decompose, such as a stone or a glass bottle filled with items, herbs, images, etc.
  • Carve spells into wood or burn symbols into wood.
  • Recharge stones by burying them in dirt, sand, or salt
  • Collect dirt or sand from locations with good energy to use in rituals
  • Cooking! Specifically baking. (this can also be a fire spell, depending on what your’re making)

Air

  • Make incense
  • Place charms and other charged items in high locations or tie them onto tree branches
  • Astral or dream work
  • Create wind chimes or charms to hang in windows or outside near your home
  • Use incense to cleanse items and banish negative energy from your home

Fire

  • Write sigils, names, words, runes, etc on paper and burn. This can be used for manifestation or banishing
  • Use bonfires to raise energy
  • Fire gazing or fire scrying
  • Candle magick
  • Sex magick
  • Burn carves wax figures for banishing
  • Write on bay leaves and burn or place on an incense coal
  • Again, cooking!

These are just my associations and methods that I find useful. There are of course countless other options!

🌧❄️✨ "Let it Snow!" Jar Spell✨❄️🌧

Items:
- A Jar
- Crystal Dust (represents snow)
- Cotton balls (represents clouds)
- Snowflake sigils: “Let it Snow” (a bunch of tiny ones on little circles of paper)
- Red and Green ribbon
- Jingle bells
- a pinch of Peppermint (for cold)
- White candle (for charge)

Steps:

Throw the cotton balls, crystal dust, sigils, and peppermint into the jar.

Tie the bells onto the jar with the red and green ribbon.

Light the candle by the jar to charge it; Focus intently on snow falling from the sky and covering the earth in a big, fluffy, white blanket.

Then go outside and shake that jar at the sky!

❄️✨❄️✨❄️✨❄️

Note: If you don’t have crystal dust, chips or small pieces of crystal quartz will do just fine!

Learning to write your own spells, and/or rituals

Introduction :

All the Spells, and/or rituals that you have seen at one point had to be created, and written down. Learning to do this process, and to write down your own spells, and rituals can be a very fun, and creative process. Learning to do this can greatly help you along your path allowing your magick to become more versatile, and connected to you. You will not need to know a lot in order to do this, all you will need to do is understand metaphysical properties, so that you can put them together in order to form some form of a spell, and/or ritual. It’s also very important that you understand how magick works. Being able to write, and create your own spell so that you can personalize them can increase the power, and understanding that you hold with that  spell, and/or ritual.

Setting the intent:

First you need to figure out what you want your intention for the spell, or ritual to be. This can be whatever you wanted to be but it should be in the realms of something that can be achieved through the energy, and will that you have, or can muster. This will make you set your intention so that you can form the rest of your spell, and/or ritual around it, so you will be able to make appropriate choices in choosing things to help you in that spell, and/or ritual. Before you do anything else you must understand what you want to accomplish from this. It will be your blueprint for the rest of what you are building here, so spend a lot of time and focus exactly on what you want to bring forth, and to manifest in the universe around you. The intent will shape the rest of the spell, and/or ritual, so make sure it is exactly what you want before proceeding. You are going to want to create a journal or some place where you can write down this to keep track of what you have done, and the results. This will  allow you to learn, and improve from what you have already done, so that you can make your spells, and rituals better. You never know what you could learn, and want to add to your technique in order to improve it for yourself, or anyone else who will use it.

Gathering items:

In order to manifest our desires upon the universe, we are first going to need to gather constructs that have to do with our intent, so that we can call those energies into our spell, and/or ritual when it comes time to cast it. To find constructs that will fit your intent you should look for items that are well-known for representing the energies that you would like to use in this spell, and/or ritual. You can do this by looking at metaphysical properties of certain stones gemstones, crystals, herb, colors, elements, tools, and much more. These things should have something to do with the energies that you would like to bring into the world. This would be like bringing in three leaf clovers along with the color green, and earth in order to bring about luck. You might want to choose a specific time, day or even place that you could do your spell that might aid in the intent of your spell, and/or ritual. You could even come up with some form of a chant in order to ingrain your intent into the energies that you are gathering. You may also want to gather items that are going to supply the overall energy of your spell this would be things such as candles, clear quartz, or selenite, so that they can use their energies to increase the already existing energy of the spell, and/or ritual. This can be incredibly helpful when trying to increase the overall effectiveness, and power of  the spell, and/or ritual.

If you want your spell to target someone, something or even yourself you can bring in to your spell, and/or ritual some form of taglock. This taglock could be linked to someone, something, or even yourself through the laws of names, association, similarity, and/or contagion. If you were going to use a taglock that used the law of names you could try to incorporate the name of where you are trying to send the energy, somehow into the spell, and/or ritual, so that you could direct it at that target. This could be done by speaking their name during the spell, and/or ritual, or even writing it down and just having a present during the spell, and/or ritual. You could use the law of association by associating something, so heavily with what you are trying to affect, and have that be present in your spell, and/or ritual, so that you can manifest your desires upon it. You could use the law of similarity in your spell, and/or ritual by getting a picture of what you would like to affect, and using that to send the energy to your target. In order for you to use the law of contagion in your spell, and/or ritual you would need to get something that came in contact with what you are trying to affect so that you can use it as a target to get to them with the energy that you will be harnessing. Using these taglocks could help you in so many different ways when making spells, and/or rituals while trying to figure out how to connect it to a certain form of construct.

In order to give your spell even more power you might want to call in some other entities in order to help you get exactly what you desire. These entities can be any entities that would be willing to work with you. These entities could be anything from spirit guides, angels, totems, spirit companions, gods, goddesses, familiars, and even ancestors among many other things. They will be able to influence your spellcraft, and help move your energy in the place that you would want it to be. they are great allies, and friends that will be good to call upon especially in this time. So allow these entities to work with you if they are willing to.

Casting the spell, and/or ritual you created :

When you have all these components together you are ready to then do your spell. What you are going to want to do is gather all your materials that you have already decided on in the steps above. Bring them all to a place where you will not be disturbed and you can focus solely on the magick that you are working. Now you are going to want to light your candles, and incense, and maybe even turn on some music, or you some form of instrument in order to make ambience to get the mood just right, and to even help out with the spellcraft. You should then enter the area where you will be doing your craft, and this is when you should take on a meditative state in order for you to connect with the spiritual realms, and planes of existences. Now before you start the spell that you have prepared yourself, you will need to do the basic stuff that you should usually do before every spell. This would be such things as grounding, and centering, so that you can be firmly connected to the earth, while you do all of your spell craft. You should also do some cleansing, and/or banishing using any form of method that you find useful I would personally recommend the Lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram, because it’s a classic. Casting a circle, or some other form of protection technique, so constructs that you do not want interacting with you or the spell stay far away. Once you are done with all of that you can then begin your spell, and/or ritual that you created.

Now you need to take all of the elements that you decided about for the spell, and/or ritual. The idea here is to take all of the correspondences from all the things that you have gathered, and put them together into a workable usable system. Bringing in all the energies from all the items that you have gathered, so you can push it out into the universe, or at a target of your choice in order to cast it out, making your spell, and/or ritual a reality. That’s all there really is to it my friend. Just the energies that you employ, and how, or what you send them at, is what will change the effectiveness, and overall strength of the spell. Remember to gather up the energy that you want, so that it can follow your intention. Energy will always follow intent, allowing you to manifest your desires upon the universe.

Once you are done with your spell, or ritual remember to undo your protection, to banish and/or cleanse again, and then to find the ground, and center again. This will put everything back to where it is supposed to be, so that you can continue on with your day, while knowing that you have cleaned up the leftover energies from your spell, and/or ritual.

If we’re being particular, magical symbolism is highly individualized for each practitioner. Understanding the personal link between an object and the concept(s) that object represents is an introspective process that takes time. Being able to leverage that symbolic meaning to effect powerful changes is an even more complex process and could perhaps be considered an art in its own right - the art of understanding your connections to reality as you perceive it, and then consciously using those connections to make changes to the perceived reality.
Despite this subjective, personal relationship with meaning, there are some widely agreed upon symbols that have taken root in the magic community and are a useful tool as you work towards establishing a better understanding of magic for yourself. Symbolic meaning is shaped by physical reality, culture, personal ideology, and other such forces, so it’s not terribly surprising that some common things (colors, elements, glyphs, natural objects) have taken on a relatively cohesive symbolic meaning that has clear links with more well-documented phenomena and mythologies. Color associations, for example, are heavily structured off of color psychology. Color associations have heavily influenced the Westernized interpretation of the chakra system as well as many uses for crystals. Some associations are more obscure, often taking root as folk traditions or healing methods.
Certainly, many of these associations have persisted due to their effectiveness for practitioners at large. However, it’s crucial to recognize these well-known associations for what they are - generalizations across many cultures, some of which were adopted or appropriated irresponsibly. I don’t say this to necessarily discredit popularized associations, but rather to remind you that these associations should be seen as merely a starting point and that much of this information has been passed through Western lenses of interpretation. With that caveat, I present some common associations for colors, elements, herbs, and crystals/minerals.

Colors

  • Black - protection, control, absorption of ambient energy
  • Blue - soothing, relaxation, clarification
  • Brown - grounding, stability, abundance, connection with nature & the home
  • Green - physical concerns like money, school, careers, and general success
  • Purple - power, especially mental or psychic in nature
  • Red - power, especially of a physical nature
  • White - new beginnings, stimulation of creativity
  • Yellow - joy, passion, romance

Elements

  • Earth - grounding and stabilizing. provides strength, security, and energy. can be slow/unwilling to adapt to change.
  • Air - causes things to spread, facilitates transmission of intentions and information. can be difficult to pin down, overly honest.
  • Water - governs emotion, intuition, soothes and heals. can be reactionary or particularly susceptible to illusion.
  • Fire - transformation, vitality, independence, power. can be difficult to control, unpredictable and has potential to cause injury.

Herbs

  • Lavender - cleansing, protection, purification, soothing
  • Basil - luck, money, protection
  • Thyme - strength, courage, protection
  • Bay - wishes, purification, strength
  • Sage - protection, purification, grounding
  • Cinnamon - success, confidence, healing, protection
  • Mugwort - astral travel, psychic ability
  • Peppermint - prosperity, protection, consecrating, sleep
  • Rosemary - memory, purification, protection (especially from nightmares)
  • Rose - love, pleasure, beauty
  • Chamomile - success, purification, soothing

Crystals

  • Quartz (and variants) - (clear) amplifies and can be used to support other energies; (amethyst) psychic healing, soothing; (citrine) creativity and success; (rose quartz) love, nurturing, healing
  • Fluorite - clear focus, easier to communicate information
  • Black Tourmaline - grounding, protection, absorption of negativity
  • Labradorite - boosts magical work
  • Lapis Lazuli - calms, makes communication easier
  • Carnelian - stimulates activity and creativity, living in the moment
  • Pyrite - assists in manifestation and accomplishing tasks

~THE BASIC TOOLS OF A WITCH~
**tools do not need to be used but make casting easer and this is not a complete list, as different paths have there own lists.

THE CHALICE
the chalice is often made of silver, tho it can be made of any material. It is associated with water, and feminine energies.

THE CAULDRON
A tool of fire, often used to burn offerings , fire magic, or mixing potions. Many use cast iron cauldrons as cooking vessels.

DOWSING RODS
A divination tool often used to find lost objects or find underground water for well making.

MAGICAL JOURNAL
A magical journal often called a book of shadows due to pop culture , often used to keep a log of magical experiences, practices and recipes.
Many believe the power of the written word, I personally believe that there’s more power in writing down it all by hand. You can use you book any way you want and name it what you want. It’s supposed to be personal and over the years you may have a series of books written by you.

THE WAND
A can be made with a verity of materials as well, many use certain woods and crystals while others use copper. They have masculine energies and considered tools of fire/ air. They are used to direct magical energies.
WILLOW: lunar magic
OAK: fire magic
APPLE: love magic
To name a few woods and magical uses.
THE ATHAME
A double sided blade that is never to be used to cut any physical surface. The Athame is usually considered to be a tool of air/fire. Used to direct energy , it is masculine
THE BESOM
A broomstick it combines both masculine and feminine energies, used to “sweep away unwanted energies” never to be used for mundane but only for the magical, or else you risk loosing any magical power stores in it.
THE SMOKE FAN
Used to move magical energies in a space, a tool of air as it can be used in combination with sage for a cleansing ritual.

~BASIC TOOL CONSECRATION~
Prior to consecration I rub the wand with fresh lavender ,eucalyptus or mint leaves.
When I consecrate my tools I hold the tool (wand) in my hand and visualize it absorbing my energies, then I purify the tool( wand) from its old energies with the elements , I choose to use the smoke method. While I smoke cleanse the wand I usually say aloud a blessing of the elements.
Elemental blessing:
I HOLD IN MY HANDS THE (tool), WHICH I DEDICATE AS A TOOL OF THE (name of element) ELEMENT. I DEDICATE IT TO POSITIVE USES AS I WALK THE PATH OF THE WISE

Safe from psychic curse and blast;

From cave and desert, sea and hill
By wand, blade cup, and pentacle
I charge you now ; attend to me!
This is my will, so mote it be!

Earth, Water ,fire and Air
Elements both strong and fair,
Return to your abodes now; Flee!
This is my will, so mote it be!

clear and strong I’m ready to explore

Dark Colors like black tourmaline, smoky quartz and Onyx can also be used. experiment, with everyone to fill which one works for you. hold the stone your hand cupping one palm over the other. Popular visualization for grounding it’s imagine yourself as a tree roots digging into the soil, you can also visualize yourself a stone.
