How Long Have They Been in “The Good Place”?

Attempt #1: 25 days (approximately)

I skimmed over the 1st season, following the context of each episode (how many days they said passed) as well as the different days shown in each episode with day to night and costume changes. I specifically looked at Eleanor and Chidi’s outfits, as Jason and Janet wear the same thing each day and Tahani changes her clothes multiple times in a single day.

Attempt #2: 1 day

Attempt #3: 128 days (likely the most successful attempt)

Attempt #11: 43 days

Attempt #108: .5 days (Eleanor finds out before she’s introduced to The Good Place)

Unknown Attempt #: 1 day (Eleanor finds out at the welcome party)

Unknown attempt #: .5 days (It seems that Eleanor finds out at Orientation)

Attempt #484: 0 days (Michael just rants)

Attempt #649: At least 3 days (Chidi and Eleanor typically meet on day 3)

Unknown Attempt #: 55 days (I’m assuming it’s a different attempt from #649, because Janet’s uniform is different-though she could’ve been rebooted)

Attempt #802: 7 days (Michael says they’re a week in)

Bonus Days:

Mindy St. Claire’s Place: At least 8 days (according to Mindy)

Day Ones: There have been 802 attempts, not counting the 11 attempts we know about, there have been 791 “Day Ones”.

Estimate #1:

Counting all the days we know for a fact happened, they’ve been in “The Good Place” for 1,063 days or close to 3 years.

Estimate #2:

However, by averaging out the days of the 10 attempts (excluding #649) where we know the specific day that they ended on, we have an average number of 25 days (rounding down) per attempt. Which is the same number I calculated for attempt #1, so that seems right.

25 days is the average. So, by multiplying that by the 792 other attempts, we have 19,800 days.

And adding the days we do know about, that is 20,069 days or close to 55 years.

Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani and Jason have been in the “The Good Place,” anywhere between 3 to 55 years.

Can we talk how obviously transparent this all is?? Louis and Eleanor do 2 sets of pap pics, and one of them is released the next day. Eleanor had a different outfit and hairstyle, so I think they were meant to imply it was taken on a different day but Louis didnt bother to change, just switched sneakers. Harry arrives in NY and Louis goes MIA, and he stays MIA the whole week, and now that it's performance day for Harry, Louis finally comes out of hiding and has to stunt, just like we predicted!

In the dailymail article about the arrest, they posted Louis' and Eleanor's exact outfits with "they wore Vetements" and linked the website and the price lmao just subtly throwing Vetements promo in there

It ain’t subtle buddy

A/N: I am so sorry I didn’t get this out on Thursday like I promised! I freaking love writing about this whole family situation in this imagines so if you ever want anymore let me know! This is the second half of the request, in case you didn’t know. I hope that you guys like it and have an amazing day! Love you!

“They’ll be here any minute now!” John squeaked, straightening out the pillows on the couch.

You and George were heading home from the hospital with your new baby girl while at the house, the boys were frantically trying to clean it before you got there. They wanted it to look perfect for the first time their baby sister would see it.

“They’re here!” Aaron screamed as he peaked his head between the curtains covering the window.

The boys bolted down the stairs into the living room. They all sat down on the couch facing the door, waiting anxiously to see the little girl again. They had only seen her once or twice at the hospital and they, excluding Alex, couldn’t wait to see her again.

“Boys!” George called, as he opened the door. His eyes widened in shock as he stared at the boys sitting anxiously on the couch.

“What’s wrong?” You asked, not hearing the usual pounding of footsteps as you walked up to the porch.

“Nothing, just the boys are already waiting for us.” George chuckled, opening the door for you and the small baby cradled in your arms to get through. George walked in behind you holding the baby bag.

“Hi boys!” You grinned, all of them looking more at the baby then you as they returned your greeting.

“How’s she doing?” James asked, jumping in his seat in excitement.

“She’s doing good! The doctors say that she seems very healthy for a newborn.” You said, looking down at the small baby in your arms fondly.

“What did you decide to name her?” Thomas asked, a wide smile on his face.

“We decided to name her Eleanor.” George said, putting an arm around your shoulders and pressing a kiss to your temple.

“Isn’t that an old lady name?” Alex scoffed, looking at the baby with distaste.

“I think it’s adorable! I can already tell, it will suit her perfectly!” Laf shot down Alex’s comment.

“Thank you Laf.” You paused, a yawn escaping your lips.

“You’re tired. How about me and the boys watch Eleanor while you go take a shower and a nap.” George suggested, looking down at you with worry.

“I’m fine, I don’t need to take a nap.” You protested, not wanting to leave your newborn and miss the next adorable thing she would do.

“You’re exhausted, now go. She’ll be in good hands and I promise I will wake you immediately if she does anything new.” George promised, gently taking Eleanor out of your arms.

“Fine.” You sighed, turning and walking up the stairs to your room.

“Can I hold her?” Hercules asked, his hands fidgeted nervously as George stared him down.

“Of course you can, but you must be very gentle.” George said, helping Hercules put his arms in the right position before softly placing the baby in Hercules’s arms.

“Wow.” Hercules breathed out, staring at his younger sister in awe.

He had never seen anything so pure and innocent before. All he wanted to do was protect her from anything bad in the world and keep her safe. He smiled down at Eleanor as she smiled back up at him. It was a moment that Hercules would never forget.

“Hercules.” George said, breaking Hercules out of the trance he was in. “Let’s take Eleanor up to see her new room.”

Hercules grinned and nodded, slowly walking towards the stairs while holding Eleanor tightly in his arms. The other boys followed closely behind him and George as they winded up the staircase and through the hallways until they found the recently built nursery. The room used to be George’s office, but he had quickly given it up when he realized the baby would need a room to sleep in.

“Eleanor, this is your room.” James said, turning to look at her. “This is the crib you’ll sleep in. The closest has lot’s of clothes for you to wear and we already have a whole stash of toys for you!”

“You know she doesn’t understand that, right?” Alex snarked, standing near the door frame of the room.

“She may not understand it, but it doesn’t mean she doesn’t appreciate the tour any less. Any welcoming voice is something she loves to hear.” Hercules defended James, glaring slightly at Alex.

Ever since the pregnancy had been announced, no matter how hard they tried, they couldn’t get Alex to like the idea. He had told everyone that he would always hate the new addition to the family. They thought him meeting her would change it, but sadly it was no use.

“Can we dress her up?” James asked, jumping onto George’s side.

“James, she’s a baby not a doll.” George said, giving the boy a look that very clearly said no.

“I know that! But we could surprise mom when she wakes up by having Eleanor all pretty and ready for the day!” James explained, giving George his biggest puppy dog eyes.

“She would love that!” Hercules grinned, turning to George with his own puppy dog eyes.

“I guess she might enjoy that…” George sighed as James and Hercules looked at each other with excitement, most of the other boys left the room not wanting to participate.

“Being a fashion guru, I guess you will need my help.” Thomas said, strutting further into the room, Lafayette following closely after him.

“I’m his assistant. I may not know fashion as well as he does, but I do know a good outfit when I see one.” Laf said, his walk much less confident than Thomas’s.

“Okay, James start going through the closet! Laf and Thomas, make yourself comfortable. I’ll be in charge of changing her and making sure the outfits aren’t a complete disaster before I put them on her.” Hercules ordered, each of the boys moving to their part.

“Where to start?” James sighed, looking through the large amount of baby clothes.

“Start with casual day wear.” Thomas said, turning to look at George who leaned against the wall watching them with amusement. “How are you going to be helping?”

“By making sure you don’t break my baby.” George replied, not taking his eyes off of Hercules and Eleanor.

“Good idea!” Laf grinned, giving his dad a thumbs up.

“Thanks Laf.” George chuckled quietly.

“Thomas, I don’t know how to tell you this…” James trailed off, trying to figure out how to tell Thomas without him freaking out. “It seems that all Eleanor has is casual day wear.”

“What? Nothing else? That will not do!” Thomas cringed slightly at the sight of the clothing items. He was going to need to start shopping for better outfits for the baby because obviously he’d be the only person good for the job.

George pushed himself off the wall and quickly left the nursery. He knew that you would kill him if you didn’t get to see this. With that in mind, George ran into your room and kneeled by where you lay on the bed.

“Babe.” George whispered, lightly shaking you awake from your nap. “You’re going to want to see this.” George laughed, extending his hand to help you off the bed.

You followed George down the hallway where you could hear giggling. There was a hushed conversation about clothes at the end of the hallway where the nursery was. You looked at George in confusion as he continued to tug you towards the room.

When you walked in, you couldn’t believe your eyes. There stood Hercules holding Eleanor in his arms wearing a cute gray elephant onesie you had bought a couple months back with pastel pink pants. James was behind Hercules, rummaging through the closet and putting together outfits. Laf and Thomas sat on the ground in front of Hercules, giving constructive criticism for the outfit Eleanor was currently wearing.

“What’s going on boys?” You asked, slightly giggling.

“We’re going through Eleanor’s wardrobe. I think I need to go with you the next time you go shopping for clothes.” Thomas explained, still studying the outfit Eleanor was in. “She needs a couple more classy outfits. And maybe a bit more edgy.”

“She doesn’t even have a leather jacket! It’s all casual day wear!” Laf exclaimed in horror, you and George trying to hold back the bursts of laughter that was bubbling up.

“Well she’s going to be growing very fast over the next couple months, so I don’t want to blow a bunch of money on clothes that won’t laster her longer than a couple weeks or so.” You said, Thomas looking at you with wide eyes.

“But fashion, mom, fashion! It doesn’t matter how long she can wear it for! She needs to slay and break hearts!” Thomas said, the other boys nodding at his words.

“We can continue this conversation later. It’s meal time for Eleanor, but afterwards I believe this fashion show will need to continue.” You smiled at the four boys, Hercules handing Eleanor to you.

You walked back to your room sitting alone on the bed with Eleanor while George stayed in the nursery to talk to the boys.

“Welcome to the family Eleanor.” You whispered, smiling at the small girl in your arms. “We’re a crazy bunch, but don’t doubt for a minute that we don’t all love you. Even Alex loves you, he’ll just need a little longer than the others to realize that. This is where you belong, we’re your family and we’ll always be here.”

honestly eleanor's outfits this weekend during the most fashionable event of the year (other than fashion week) are the most boring shit?? how can anyone still consider her in the fashion industry when she's wearing some basic demin shorts and a flannel shirt?? there must be a clause somewhere in her contract that she can't dress in a certain way because her looks from this years coachella to last years are such a difference plus all the tracksuits during the pap walks, its just so funny

Well we are going on three solid months of her not doing her “job” so how can anyone even remotely believe she has one blows my mind.

Those Stupid Clark Kent Glasses

@fakeeleanorshellstrop, inspired by your costume post!

Happy Halloween you beautiful cockroaches!

“Everyone’s staring at us.” Chidi murmured as he leaned against the bar, fiddling with the end of his tie yet again as Eleanor poured them both a drink.

“That’s probably because they know we’re gonna crush them in the costume contest.” she replied smoothly as she set his Jack and Coke down next to him and swatted his hands away from the tie. “Now stop fussing, I had this looking perfectly windswept when we got here”.

He rolled his eyes, but allowed her to loosen the knot and toss the thinner end over his shoulder. “You know,” he began as she stepped back and gave him a satisfied once-over before taking a sip from her own glass, “when Tahani said she wanted to use this event to ‘maintain a terrestrial calendar on this celestial plane’ I didn’t really think she meant she was holding a Halloween party”.

Eleanor shrugged. “Works for me, dude. Halloween is clearly the best holiday to begin with, why not start there?” Chidi raised his eyebrows questioningly, and she let out a soft huff before placing her drink back on the bar and counting off on her fingers; “One, you don’t have to deal with any family. Second, it’s spooky as all heck and that’s always fun. Three, free candy everywhere. And, it’s kind of fun to pretend to be someone else for a night”.

“I suppose I can see the appeal of that,” he grinned as he looked her up and down in turn, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you look so….professional. Not that it’s a bad thing!” he rushed to explain as she narrowed her eyes and opened her mouth to retort, the back of her neck slightly flushed,. “It’s just different for you. A good different”.

Her eyes popped open for a split second, before narrowing again, this time accompanied by a small but wicked grin. “A good different, huh?” She stepped closer, one arm snaking up and around his shoulders while she began to lightly trace the “S” symbol barely visible through his half unbuttoned shirt; fingers running teasingly across his chest. “Why Mr. Kent, if you keep talking like that, a girl might get the idea that you’ve got a thing for pencil skirts and suit vests”.

“Well now, Miss Lane,” he began, resting his hands on her hips as he pulled her closer still and reveling in the rush of heat that ran through him as her grin widened and she looked up at him with eyes slightly darker than their usual blue, “I wouldn’t want to give anyone the wrong idea”. The hand that had been drawing symbols on his chest joined the other and wrapped behind his neck as he ducked his head slightly to bring it closer to hers. “I very much have a thing for-”

“Eleanor! Chidi!”

The two jumped apart with a start - and a muttered “fork” from Eleanor - to see Denise making her way towards them, moving slower than usual as she fought against what looked like a large white sheet wrapped around her. “Hey guys,” she huffed as she finally reached them, “great party, huh?”

“Yeah, great.” Eleanor muttered through gritted teeth. She didn’t have a problem with Denise, per say. It was just that lately every time she and Chidi had a moment alone together, there she was, butting in and ruining it. As she stewed silently, she vaguely heard Chidi ask Denise about her costume.

“Oh!” she chirped excitedly, “Hang on, it makes more sense if I put on the…” she trailed off as she reached into some hidden pocket in her sheet-toga and pulled out a long white beard. Fixing it around her head with the attached elastic band, she straightened up fully and pointed to the large, homemade label encircling her waist. “I’m Plato! Get it? Play doh…Plato?”

Eleanor squinted at the outfit, still slightly confused, before Chidi startled her by letting out a deep chuckle. “That’s actually very clever Denise. Great job”. The other woman beamed at him, and Eleanor felt her mouth curve into a scowl. That was the other reason she was feeling strange around Denise - the woman practically mooned over Chidi. And she was such an infuriatingly sweet person, Eleanor could never be 100% sure if Denise was actually flirting with her soul mate, or if she was just being nice for the sake of being nice. No matter what she did, she couldn’t figure out Denise’s game, and it was really starting to get to her.

“Thank so much Chidi!” Denise exclaimed happily. “Now let me see you two, hmmm…” She surveyed the both of them, tapping a finger against a point on her chin covered by the fake beard. “Chidi, you of course, are Superman, good choice - it suits you.” she gave him one more grin before turning her head towards Eleanor. “And Eleanor, you’re….his secretary?”

Eleanor froze, so taken aback that for a moment she couldn’t find words, which was highly unusual for her. “No, I- I’m Lois Lane.” Denise continued to smile  at her. “The Lois Lane.” she continued, waving the Daily Planet ID badge she had made herself a few hours ago in front of her.

“That’s nice.” Denise replied with that same banal, pleasant smile. Eleanor didn’t like the look in her eyes as she studied the blonde. It made her feel…..lesser. Like she was being overlooked because she wasn’t good enough. She hated that feeling. It reminded her of all the other ways she wasn’t sure if she was good enough.

“Well, I should go,” Denise continued, “Gunnar’s saving me a spot at the pumpkin carving table, but it was so nice to see you both. Have a great night, Superman and…” she paused for a moment, as if at a loss for words, then snapped her fingers in recognition “Lois!” And with that, she turned and started to shuffle away, a corner of her toga coming loose and trailing after her.

The moment she was out of earshot, Eleanor spun back to face Chidi, fuming. “Can you believe her? ‘That’s nice’, give me a break. Like she wouldn’t recognize Lois Lane.”

“…..Well…” Chidi began, then instantly held his hands up in mock surrender as Eleanor glared at him, “I’m just saying, it’s not the most unbelievable thing. Lois doesn’t have anything as obvious as a super-suit to identify her with”.

“Lois Lane doesn’t need a super-suit,” Eleanor sniffed, “she’s an institution. And she’s super hot.” Chidi shoot an amused smirk in her direction, but she continued undeterred. “Like, smoking hot - every Lois Lane ever. The 70′s movies? Hot. The show in the 90′s? Hot. That newer show, where they were all teenagers? Ugh, I started watching that because of how hot Lois was”.

“Is there a point to this particular train of thought?” Chidi interrupted, but his smirk had turned into an indulging sort of smile.

“The point, you dork,” she went on with a gentle slap to his arm, “is that I am continuing a very impressive legacy of hotness that you should be grateful to be included in. Lois is a huge part of Superman’s story - I bet you he wouldn’t have done half the big heroic things he has if Lois wasn’t there”.

Chidi leaned back against the bar, considering. “But isn’t the reason he does half of the heroic things he does because he has to save Lois from whatever trouble she’s gotten herself into?”

“Because she was too busy being a badash!” Eleanor shot back. “Lois Lane is an amazing reporter who doesn’t take shirt from anyone and always gets her story. Yeah, she can cause trouble sometimes, and maybe she’s a little abrasive and sarcastic, but” she glanced down at her feet for a moment, and Chidi suddenly understood why she was so passionate about this “but that’s just as good as being, like, a stupid ethics pun, or whatever. Right?”

Chidi stood straight and wrapped his arms around Eleanor’s shoulders, drawing her close to him as he said with a grin “As far as I’m concerned, there’s no contest”. It wasn’t saying much, it wasn’t even saying a fraction of the feelings he had for the woman in front of him, but she beamed and wrapped her arms around him, and he decided that it was enough for now.

He held her close, savoring the way she fit so perfectly in his arms, but she must have rubbed off on him because he couldn’t keep himself from making one last comment; “She does fall off a lot of buildings though”.

Eleanor pulled back slightly and fixed him with a look that clearly said ‘really?’. “Jeez, you are such a nerd”.

“But I’m your nerd” he replied happily. She rolled her eyes, but still leaned up on her toes to press a kiss to his lips, so he considered it a win. “Hey,” he began as she pulled away, “Want to go bob for apples?”

“Or,” she countered, a playful look in her eyes as she slowly began to back towards the ballroom doors, lightly tugging him along with her, “We could sneak over to the flight pad and really bring these costumes to life”.

“What- no, wait, Eleanor, no!” he sputtered “The flight pad is off limits on holidays!”

She let out an excited giggle “Oh come on! Where’s the fun of flying around as Los Lane without a Superman there with me?” she pulled lightly on his arm again, and this time, she looked so excited, he couldn’t help but let her. “Come on Cheedster!” she laughed as they burst through the doors into the night air, “Up up and away!”
