The Flateyjarbók was composed in the late fourteenth century and contains the Grœnlendinga saga and Eiríks saga rauða (Eirik the Red’s saga). It tell os the tales of Leif the Lucky and other Norse explorers to Vinland. Though some material is fanciful, it is considered to be based on historical truth. It is one of the two main sources for information regarding Norse exploration of America.
