Ooooh man am I out of practice haha. Anyways most of my sketches have turned out questionable lately and I still can’t get my tablet to connect to wifi. We are working on getting better internet here though so hopefully once that is done it will connect *crosses fingers*.
Anyhoots this is one of the better doodles of the batch so figured I’d share it since I haven’t posted any art in forever.
I know I’ve said this before but thanks for your patience!
Logan works as a clerk, copying tax records in the scriptorium.
It’s not the most exciting work, but it gives him access to the palace library and satisfies his family’s obligation for service to the crown, since he’s not able to fight and serve in the guard.
He spends what free time he has reading, either in the library or, on clear, warm days, out in the gardens. This allows him to observe the other palace inhabitants that wander through, as well, and to see drachlings flitting about, and sometimes the dragons taking off from the Royal Den above the city.
Echidnas, sometimes known as spiny anteaters, belong to the family Tachyglossidae in the monotreme order of egg-laying mammals. The four extant species, together with the platypus, are the only surviving members of the order Monotremata and are the only living mammals that lay eggs. Echidnas live in Australia and New Guinea. Echidnas evidently evolved between 20 and 50 million years ago, descending from a platypus-like monotreme. This ancestor was aquatic, but echidnas adapted to life on land. The echidnas are named after Echidna, a creature from Greek mythology who was half-woman, half-snake, as the animal was perceived to have qualities of both mammals and reptiles.
quick lil wind down sketch after work so I could hopefully get my brain to ease into a sleepy state, at least enough to nap!
this was a terrible idea because my hand was already killing me. Anyway, since I draw homestuck (I typed himestuck wtf) every day, I decided to draw a prompt I saw on my dash and drew Hal as a wee babby kid. It’s halbabby!
now I go pass out for a couple of hours and let my hand rest. erhgh.
so i’ve been playing around with @nyarlathotwink‘s long tailed/short tailed cardassians headcanon. for those of you not in the know, the headcanon is that most cardassians have short tails, about .75x leg length, but there is a recessive gene for long tails, about 1.5 to 2x leg length. long tails are associated with masculinity and virility in men.
now, i was thinking, what if it was sex linked recessive? this would make it more common in men, lending weight to the virility association, and it would also have another interesting effect:
imagine, if you will, that you are a short tailed cardassian male in the cardassian middle ages. the study of genetics hadn’t even been conceptualized yet. you know nothing about “sex-linked recessive” or “female carriers” or “gene expression.” you have a short tail, and so has everyone in your family for generations. so does your wife.
when your first born is about to hatch, you wait with bated breath. a child. your child. you’ve never been more excited. when he makes his first rip in the soft leathery shell of his egg, you can see by the curved shape of his egg tooth that your wife has born you a son. you are dizzy with happiness.
…until, that is, he manages to rip himself the rest of the way out, and you see that his tail is longer than he would be without it. remember, you know nothing about genetics. you don’t know that your wife’s maternal grandfather had a tail just as long, or why that would be relevant if you did. all you know is that you are very angry with your wife, and that keret down the street with the long tail suddenly looks very suspicious.
fast forward now to modern cardassia, long tails still have two strong associations: masculine virility (but also mild sexual deviance) and illegitimate children.
elim garak has carried the physical mark of a bastard since he tore his way out of his own shell, long before he ever knew it himself. his long tail also compensated in part for his effeminacy, but also added to the air of sexual danger surrounding an agent of his caliber and specialties. he has… a complicated relationship with it, to say the least.
but you know gul dukat has a short tail, and garak takes great pleasure in the fact that he will never lose a tail measuring contest to him. especially since dukat cares so much.
My adorable little workaholic B-ship for RotG. Tooth gotta go somewhere, when I so rudely tear Jack from her dainty grasp. While I always loved her friendship with Jack, I frankly think these two would have a lot more chemistry and stability. If Black Ice is my pain-ridden powered-by-forsaken-children angst-machine, then Sweet Tooth is the cotton candy factory, spreading fluff and butterflies on the ashes. Just look at their 1 million babies aka eggs + fairies
A gravid (pregnant) corn snake will find a warm, hidden location to lay and abandon her eggs. After about 10 weeks, the baby snakes begin to hatch, using a specialized scale called an “egg tooth” to tear out of the leathery shell. After their first meal of egg yolk, the snakes must rely on hunting instincts to find their own food.
