“The sea hare….is hermaphroditic, having both testes and ovaries and both male and female organs of copulation. It may thus play female during one copulation and male during the next, as its whims happen to dictate, or it may play both roles at the same time. At Elkhorn Slough in the spring of 1931, seven or eight…were seen copulating in a "Roman circle,” each animal having its penis inserted in the vaginal orifice of the animal ahead.
