Y/N walked into her apartment while texting her best friend, Barbara. Y/N has been living in her apartment ever since she moved out from her parents’ for college. Y/N is an excellent student when she was in high school so she was offered a scholarship for the college she’s attending now. She has always been a bright child because when she was in elementary, she was accelerated a few levels so she’s starting college early.
Her best friend, Barbara, was out of town for a vacation with her family but they promised each other to keep in contact so that’s why Y/N is currently texting Barbara.
Y/N: What’s your username again?
Y/N: Again, tell me why your username is named bill?
Barbara: don’t judge me :P
Y/N: Alright. I’ll send a video call request.
Barbara: what time is it exactly there?
Y/N: About 3 in the morning
Barbara: and you just got home? What were you doing, woman?
Y/N: Oh shush! It’s just college >:P
Barbara: whatever you say :3
Y/N: K. I’m calling you now.
Requesting bill533 for a video call…
bill533 accepted your video call request
A guy that was around Y/N’s age popped out from Y/N’s laptop screen.
“Umm.. Are you Barbara’s boyfriend or something?” she asked, hearing her voice echo from the other end.
“Who?” the guy asked with a British accent.
“Barbara. She gave me this username so I can call her?” Y/N questioned more than she stated the words.
“I think she gave you the wrong username, love.” the guy chuckled.
“Oh..” Y/N was about to end the call when the guy stopped her.
“I’m Robbie. And you are?” Robbie asked.
“What?” Y/N asked.
“Your name. You know? The one your parents gave you?”
“I know that. I’m just not fond of telling strangers my name.”
“I’m not a stranger. I’m Robbie” he smiled.
Y/N rolled her eyes. “It’s Y/N”
The two of them continued to talk, Y/N forgetting about her best friend, Barbara. After a while, Y/N figured that she needed to get some sleep and Robbie needed to do something so they said their goodbyes but not before they exchanged other social media accounts.
The next day, Y/N received a few text messages.
Barbara: the hell girl? You didn’t call me!
Robbie: Hey Y/N! I assume its morning there? Good morning!
Y/N decided to answer Barbara’s message first.
Y/N: You gave me the wrong username! You’re not bill533
Not soon after, Barbara replied.
Barbara: did I say bill533? whoops! I meant bill53 :3
Y/N: -.- nevermind that now. I actually found someone in the username bill533
Barbara: is he cute?
Barbara: come on. i know you too much and I know that you’ve been hit by mr. cupid ;) anyways I gtg. Mom is calling me bye!
Y/N: I wasn’t hit by cupid. Have fun!
Barbara: keep telling yourself that ;)
Y/N rolled her eyes and opened Robbie’s text
Robbie: Hey Y/N! I assume its morning there? Good morning!
Y/N: Yeah! And I’m guessing it’s evening there? Good Evening!
Robbie: Are you free? Can I video call you?
Y/N: Yeah sure! Let me get my laptop.
And that was the beginning of a new friendship for Y/N and Robbie. They kept contact and talked to each other every single day. Y/N stayed up all night so she can talk to Robbie and Robbie stayed up all night to do the same. There was never a time where the two of them didn’t talk. Their bond just grew stronger and stronger each day.
Y/N and Robbie has been talking to each other for 3 years now and not once did they ever seen each other in real life. They’re always talking about what they would do whenever they see each other in real life but the idea is just too bizarre to happen.
“I hope we can see each other where there’s no screen in between us” Y/N chuckled at the screen on her laptop.
“Yeah me too. Oh Y/N. I need to go. Bye!” Robbie quickly ended the call, making Y/N curious. Y/N shrugged and prepared for college. It was her last semester and they were just practicing for the upcoming graduation.
Y/N was dazing off while her colleagues were practicing non stop. She was thinking about why Robbie was acting weird this morning. Her thoughts were interrupted when someone poked her from behind.
“Thinking about bill533, I see?” Barbara teased. Barbara was back from her vacation a long time ago so she’s here with Y/N in college now.
“He was acting weird this morning” Y/N whispered.
“You sound like you two are a couple. Anyways, the guy’s just probably busy with something so chill out, girl” she said, putting a comforting hand on Y/N’s shoulder. Y/N smiled and nodded at her friend.
“Hey are you alright? You seem a bit.. off earlier.” Y/N trailed off.
“Yeah I was just busy. Sorry about that” Robbie said while rubbing the back of his neck.
“It’s alright!” Y/N smiled. “Anyways, my graduation is coming up soon and I’m so excited! It’s just sad that you can’t go. Why do we have to be so far apart” Y/N pouted at her webcam.
“Yeah it sucks. I swear if I get to see you in real life, I would” Robbie stopped himself before he even says something.
“You would what?” Y/N chuckled.
“Nothing” Robbie nervously chuckled.
“I need to go. My mother is calling me.” Robbie waved at the camera. Y/N waved at the camera too and turned her laptop off after.
Before Y/N fell asleep, she thought about Robbie, again. She thought about what she would do if she finds him standing in front of her doorstep. Would she hug him or would she have to ask him if she can? Because she didn’t want it to be awkward or something. Y/N fell asleep with all these thoughts in her head.
“Why the gloomy face? You’re graduating. Be happy!” Y/N’s father ruffled her hair when he saw the frown on her face.
“Dad!” Y/N screamed, fixing her hair. Her dad chuckled at her and walked off to the bleachers where the parents should be sitting.
“Come on, Y/N. It’s our graduation! The least you could do is be happy.” Barbara chuckled and connected her arms with Y/N. Y/N laughed and skipped with her best friend.
Soon, Y/N and Barbara went back to their seats because they began calling out students and is now distributing diplomas.
When Barbara was called, Y/N can’t help to think about Robbie. What if Robbie appears out of nowhere to surprise her? Her thoughts were cut off and she jumped when her name was called. Y/N slowly walked over to the stage with her parents beside her. She smiled as her professor gave her her diploma and shook her hand. Y/N looked around, hoping to see someone in particular, but found no one. She smiled sadly, bowed and walked off the stage with her parents.
The rest of the day, Y/N sat on her chair quietly. Barbara nudged her side, “Don’t be sad, There’s still an after party after this” . “Great” Y/N muttered and sunk down on her chair.
Y/N stared at the window of her father’s car as he drove her and her friend to the place where the party is.
“Cheer up kid. The party would be fun” her father smiled at her from the rear-view mirror.
“I’m not a kid anymore, dad.” Y/N rolled her eyes.
“You’re still my little girl though” Barbara stifled a laugh. Y/N glared at her and hit her playfully.
“We’re here!” her father announced. Barbara hurried out the car and into the venue, leaving Y/N and her father there.
“Dad, I don’t feel like going” Y/N groaned.
“I think you’ll like it” her dad winked at her and walked inside the venue. Y/N sighed and dragged her way to the venue.
When Y/N walked in though, the lights were off and she can’t see anything.
“Um.. Is this the wrong room?” she was about to walk away when the lights opened and people started shouting. “Congratulations!” confetti was all over the place. Y/N looked around to see her family members and childhood friends were standing in front of her. One person stood out though. It was Robbie.
“No way” Y/N whispered as she looked at the guy looking back at her with a wide grin and open arms.
Y/N grinned and run towards Robbie’s open arms. Y/N embraced Robbie like it was the end of the world. She buried her face on the crook of Robbie’s neck while Robbie rested his chin on Y/N’s head.
“It’s really you” Y/N whispered. Robbie nodded. “Yeah. It’s really me.” he chuckled.
“Who’s idea is this?” Y/N asked.
“Barbara’s. We helped a little.” Y/N’s mother chuckled as she hugged Y/N’s father sideways. Y/N looked at Barbara who was giving her a thumbs up. She winked at Y/N before walking away with fine young man. Y/N chuckled and looked back to Robbie.
“I can’t believe this is happening” Y/N whispered.
“Me too. So I’m using this moment to..” Robbie knelt down in front of Y/N and took a bouquet of flowers behind him.
“This might look like I’m proposing but I’m not” Robbie chuckled causing Y/N to laugh.
“Not until you become my girlfriend” Robbie looked up to Y/N, smiling.
“I know we haven’t been with each other physically but we’ve been talking and I really like you and I was hoping you like me too?” Robbie rubbed the back of his head in nervousness.
Y/N smiled and made Robbie stand up, pecking him on the lips.
“So is that a yes?” Robbie smiled cheekily.
Y/N nodded and smiled. “Yes”. Robbie jumped and cheered. “Thank you so much!” He grabbed Y/N’s shoulders and pressed a long, passionate kiss on her lips causing everyone to holler and cheer.
“I’m so glad you’re here” Y/N whispered through the kiss.
