I’m going to scream. Interior minister and professional ban-advocate says they found violence-glorifying video games (often called killer games in German media) on the Munich shooter Ali Sonboly’s computer - and says we need to have a debate (on banning them, obviously).
This comes just after even public media admitted that the ban initiatives and discourse that had its height in 2009 was hardly based on facts and, for the most part, over as computer games have gone mainstream.
He also says that it is possible that the shooter’s Glock 17 was a replica weapon turned functional - which is not possible with replicas made to legal standards.
Considering he had 300 rounds of ammunition, its more likely that he had another illegal source.
I’m bracing for the worst case now that it seems like the shooter wasn’t motivated by Islam - namely the standard procedure following mass shootings in this country, calls for restrictions on violent video games and law abiding gun owners.
