loki month : day 13-16 prompt -> relationship
Frigga, loki and thor
OK I know I am late, but look at all the efforts I have to put into this piece!
I love the relationships between these three, and frigga's unconditional love toward her sons. Here is what is wrong with odin-- his love is conditional, his son has to prove they are worthy of his love, which sometimes will lead to a child's self doubt or even worse.
By the way , again , the doujinshi <Nilfhaim> only have 10 copies left !97 pages total , including my story <Nilfhaim> and my friend BBQ fish’s < Creme brulee> ALL IN CHINESE , $25 each, $5 for shipping inside USA, $15 international —— if you are interested in it, sent me a email at firstname.lastname@example.org
No but my favorite male poledancer won the World Pole Dance 2014 competion with a Thor cosplay perfomance, and you have no idea how happy that makes me okay. (This is so awesome you should totally check it out)
I’ve been mostly focusing on getting my Thor/Loki recs up again, but I actually do read just as much genfic, especially because genfic is where you tend to find the most amazing epics and they’re incredibly emotionally satisfying! (And if you need breaks for porn, that’s what pwps are for. ♥)
This is a list that’s focused on the Thor & Loki relationship at heart (or to at least a satisfying level), even if there are other things going on in the story, so I hope they’ll be of interest to shippers as much as they are to gen fans! :) (As a side note, I had to leave off No Such Liberty, because the post literally became too long for tumblr to accept, but seriously read that fucking fic.)
THOR & LOKI RECS: → Freefall by galaxysoup, thor & loki + other mcu characters, depression/suicide ideation, 11.2k
Loki falls. Thor catches him. This does not solve as many problems as Thor thought it would.
When Thor returns from Asgard to rejoin the Avengers, he brings Loki in tow–stripped of his magic and bound with a geas that allows him to speak only in response to direct questions. AKA, yet another “Loki lives with the Avengers; chaos ensues” story.
Thor decides he’s about done with letting Loki get himself hurt and pretending he’s okay with it. Loki’s got two feet of steel through his lungs and is finding it difficult to argue. Family therapy, at its finest.
Thor brings Loki and the Tesseract to Asgard and returns to Earth only after promising to return for Loki’s trial when the time comes. In the meantime he tries to navigate Earth’s foreign customs and not kill his teammates who insist on treating him like a small child rather than the god and prince that he is.
Loki is on Earth serving out his punishment, and he has to contend not only with a foreign planet, but being a hostile. He learns the meaning of love from the children he visits at the orphanage, the meaning of family from Thor, and how to be human from Steve. Somewhere along the way, he also learns how to be himself.
→ Truthfully by Salazarfalcon, thor & loki + steve & loki + tony & loki + other avengers, therapy fic, cracky initially + later seriousness, 129k
Loki had every intention of wreaking havoc upon Midgard the moment his suicide attempt had failed, it was just too bad that Midgard ended up being so distracting. Who knew that such a primitive society would have such a novel concept as therapy?
“The sonic boom ripped through the sky over Asgard’s capital, rattling windows in their casements and scaring clouds of pigeons into the air. It overlapped with a deafening crack, and the combined reverberations, enough to set the dust of the streets shivering into the air, vibrated through Loki’s chest. He frowned, looking up from the doll-like mask of the Svartálfar corpse he was examining. He knew that sound. Catching the eye of the einheri captain beside him, he tilted his head in silent command. ‘It seems my brother has come home,’ he said. 'We should give him a proper welcome.'”
Loki is not the typical Asgardian warrior. He fights with seidr, agility, and deception. When the Warriors Three question the honour of such methods, Thor proposes a series of contests to prove that Loki’s talents can overcome their respective strengths…with a little cheating.
Written for a prompt on the Thor Kinkmeme on LJ: “Odin, in this universe, has the foresight to realize that keeping Loki’s origins from him could end up alienating his son. On his tenth birthday, he tells Loki of his Frost Giant heritage, and while it upsets the boy initially, because he is young, he is able to bounce back once reassured of his parents’ general support. Still, Odin urges the young Loki to not tell Thor until he feels that his brother has truly matured to the point where it won’t affect his overall view of Loki. Meanwhile, some odd years later, Loki is going through weird frost giant puberty and Thor is entirely convinced that his brother is ill or mental or some thing or other. Hi-jinx ensue.”
Things go very differently on the ill-suited venture to Jotunheim when the Frost Giants notice something about one of the invaders. But their decision to "rescue” what they assume must be a kidnapped Jotun has many unexpected and far-spanning consequences…especially for Loki himself.“
