27 Oct 2015. I read a lot of novels while I was growing up, and my favorites have tended to have England and the English countryside as their setting, particularly those stately houses, manors and castles with vast gardens. Today I got to bask in that fantasy for real as I explored the Sizergh Castle and Garden in Cumbria. Owned by the Strickland family since 1239, the estate was gifted to the National Trust in 1950. The descendants of the family still live here. #england #englishcountryside #travel #janeausten #feelingdowntonabbey #autumn (at Sizergh Castle and Garden)

“I never wish to offend, but I am so foolishly shy, that I often seem negligent, when I am only kept back by my natural awkwardness. […] Shyness is only the effect of a sense of inferiority in some way or other. If I could persuade myself that my manners were perfectly easy and graceful, I should not be shy.” #senseandsensibility #janeausten #bookstagram #anthropologie

Birthday haul 2: Penguin English Library. Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma and The Hound of Baskervilles. I love these editions, they’re so beautiful! Also, happy B-Day Penguin!

“Vanity and pride are different things though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us.” I just hand made this watercolor book page iPhone 6 case from a page out of Pride & Prejudice. Would anyone be interested?! 📚📖
