Shota Sometani as Keisuke Hayami in Aku no Kyoten.
Boy has good acting chops. Just look at that cap where he stared at Hasumin (8th). Eyes full of distrust silently accusing and guessing the turn of events. What he feared has come to fruition. Such a different persona from Watanuki.
Nighttime is not the ideal time to watch violent movies (at least for me). When will I ever really take note and remember that? I feel very disturbed after watching Lesson of The Evil (Aku no Kyoten) which is a slasher with similar plot or rather, violence, to Battle Royale.
It is directed by Takashi Miike, of course, who also filmed the drama version of MPD Psycho - probably one of the craziest mangas ever written about human personality disorder. The artwork is solid but the content is not something everyone can stomach. I guess I can stand violence and gore in print but not in motion.
That aside, I think the songs used in this movie are amazing but I’d be afraid to listen to the playlist again, honestly.
At first I thought this movie came after Karamazov no Kyoudai (The Brothers Karamazov) and I was relieved to see Kento Hayashi looking healthier than he did in Karamazov. But a quick check shows that this was before Karamazov so, sad to say, he has become skeletal now.
