Final Fantasy Appreciation Week: Day 2 - Favorite Videogame: Final Fantasy VI

“The ancient War of the Magi… When its flames at last receded, only the charred husk of a world remained. Even the power of magic was lost… In thousand years that followed, iron, gunpowder, and steam engines took the place of magic, and life slowly returned to the barren land… Yet there now stands one who would reawaken the magic of ages past, and use its dread power as a means by which to conquer all the world… Could anyone truly be foolish enough to repeat that mistake?”

Edgar and Sabin Figaro from Final Fantasy VI!  Aka Final Fantasy III if you grew up with the Super Nintendo version like I did :P

Edgar acts like a billionaire playboy, but he’s actually a loyal, tech genius.  While Sabin is mistaken as a doofy muscle head, yet he’s smart and very kind.  AND I LOVE THEM.  Anyway.

This was fun practice and I would definitely like to draw more of them, as well as the rest of the game cast!

I think I have to play this again right flippin’ now

Jon’s Video Game Thoughts: Top 10 Favorite Male Characters from Video Games Not from 2016 that I played in 2016.

Everyone was too good. I could break the 10 way tie so here it is:

1. Mikleo (Tales of Zestiria)

Mikleo was the main character I played in ToZ. He was analytical, smart, and awesome. I related to him a lot because his brotherly relationship with Sorey reminded me of my own family with my Brother. He is just awesome.

1. Shulk (Xenoblade Chronicles)

Play Smash Bros. enough and I’ll basically play any game of any interesting character I find. (Ex. Lucas and Mother 3). Well it happened again with Xenoblade Chronicles. I freaking loved Shulk he was so relatable and courageous. Also doing his best to change the future. Shulk is amazing and made Xenoblade Chronicles amazing too.

1. Alucard (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night)

The kickass vampire that got me obsessed with a new series. How could Alucard not be on this list when I struggled so hard to get his game. Also that he came to stop Dracula and Castlevania out of just a sense of duty was awesome. Also I love his powers and I just connected with him throughout the journey through Castlevania. Also, I am obsessed with the Castlevania series now because of him.

1. Teddie (Persona 4 Golden)

Teddie was a surprise to me. I didn’t know there would be a giant, kickass Teddy bear in the game. Turns out there is and he’s totally amazing. First of all he was one of the best guides and characters in the team. Also he grew so much as a character from being hollow to actually developing a human form. He found himself and was so great especially at the end.

1. Edgar Figaro (Final Fantasy VI)

Edgar was fantastic. He is a great king and brother. He basically let his brother go off and have the life he wanted while he stayed to take on all the responsibility as King. He was also helpful in protecting Terra and taking Kefka too. He was definitely one of my favorites of FFVI.

1. Guy Cecil (Tales of the Abyss)

Guy is completely one of the best, complex, and exciting characters of Tales of the Abyss. That he wanted revenge for his city that he kept hidden for a while was intriguing. Also, his loyalty to Luke no matter what Luke was, was great. I definitely played him probably the second most in Tales of the Abyss. He had a great personality and fighting style.

1. Jade Curtiss (Tales of the Abyss)

Jade was the best, his sarcasm lead to some of the best lines ever. He definitely kept you wanting to hear more of him. He also had a very interesting back story and development through the story too. The Necromancer is just another of the many great characters of Tales of the Abyss. His intelligence definitely kept the team together to get past their issues they were dealing with.

1. Sabin Figaro (Final Fantasy VI)

The Ultimate Fist Fighter of Final Fantasy! Sabin is my favorite from Final Fantasy VI. Just loved how he helped everyone, his own part of the story with the Phantom Train. Suplexing the Phantom Train. Well I mean suplexing everything because you can is just a must lol. Him being a little brother too helped me relate with him also that he wanted to get stronger to defend his kingdom too. Saving the building from collapsing and saving his brother in the ending was great too. He just had a lot of great moments and some of the best moves too.

1. Yu Narukami (Persona 4 Golden)

Now Yu is the avatar-like character of Persona 4 but still he very much had a character from the choices he made, to expanding and changing the lives of all the people he touched. Especially his family of Nanako and Dojima. I was balling at the end because I was so sad that he had to leave his friends and family. Just his power to help his friends and family is just so amazing and made him one of the best characters. He’s my favorite Persona character.

1. Luke Fon Fabre (Tales of the Abyss)

Luke Fon Fabre is one of the best stories of character growth. His spoiled nature in the beginning and just hating his situation lead to some huge changes. He developed into a someone wanting to make up for the trouble he caused, someone willing to sacrifice himself to help others survive, wanting to change and succeeding in it. In the beginning I basically switched from Luke because he was annoying then I couldn’t stop playing as Luke because I loved him so much. He is just so amazing and one of the best Tales of characters ever.
